[Q][Help]Touch screen stuffed? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so not sure if my touchscreen is dead or the flex cable.
Basically got it in a trade, knew it was a bit stuffy so not a problem. but I'm not sure if the flex cable needs replacing or the digitizer/screen
The play itself goes nutty and does stuff by itself. sometimes I can use the dpad to control the phone though which leads me to believe it is just the flex cable.
If it is just the cable, is there a specific cable I need to get or are all xperia play flex cables for the screen the same ?

Yes all the cables are the same and with the ghosting problem it sounds like the digitizer is bad

So replace the digitizer? If the screen properly changes from portrait to landscape when I slide it out and the screen displays everything fine do i have to replace the flex cable too?

If the video feed to the screen is fine the your flex is fine

Got new digitizer but touchscreen still not working. No ghosting though. . So ideas? Replace flex?

Well the digitizer is what registers touch so either you got a bad one or you didn't hook it up right

[Q] Screen Keeps Turning Off.

Hey Guys,
Every time i slide out the game pad on my Xperia Play r800i the screen turns off and I have to wait about 10 seconds until it comes on again.Sometimes I can see that the screen is still on but it is really dim and very hard to see and sometimes the brightness keeps changing.
I used PC Companion and Repaired the phone but it did nothing.
Please Help!!
Nothing happened to your phone, its normal. It just takes time to load the xperia play app.

No , When I slide it out the screen locks and I have it set NOT to launch the xperia play app.
So you probably have damaged flex cable. Be ready for giving your phone to the service centre soon.

Xplay gray screen

Well looks like my play has got the gray screen debating whether I'll keep it or not since I got the Xperia ion. I know I can fix it just need to fix the video cable I think that's what causes the gray screen.

I'd recommend to put another screen protector if you remove because lots of people who got rid of it had touch screen problems layer

Well I guess if you take really good care of it there won't be a problem but if you take it off I'd still recommend placing another on in its spot

so it is not board problem, so i can try another cable...
IMHO, it's faulty slider flex cable
Ttry to power up phone with gamepad opened. If you get different screens with gamepad opened and closed (static screen, colored "snow", black screen etc) then it's surely slider flex cable
Tried with slider open but no change, only Sony Ericsson logo display for long time, lock and unlock it show static screen

Did you try 're flash Rom etc
Sent from my LT28i using XDA Free mobile app
To flash a rom, it's not even entering in recovery, only Sony Ericsson logo appears and after that it gives static screen, even for custom kernel the logo appears that's all

Halp: Problem with touch

Umm i just received my xperia play.
It was used by someone else... but my problem is with touch.
Digitizer doesn't work... And it doesn't seems to be damaged.
Also highlighting of screen doesn't work propertly too.
It don't work, but it works in specific spot when i slide gamepad.
Anyone know where is the problem ? Slider tape? Digitizer?
