[Rallying Cry] Demand that Sprint submit drivers to AOSP!

Even though Verizon has somehow managed to get their head out of....long enough to submit binaries and drivers to AOSP, Sprint has so far refused to do so for their version of the Galaxy Nexus.
What this means is that it will be harder for our awesome devs here to build custom roms from source. So if you enjoy custom roms on your Sprint G-Nex, hit them up and leave a message asking for the drivers and binaries to be submitted.

I don't think harassing the Twitter/Facebook poster for sprint is going to help. Maybe it will but doubt it. You can always post on there community forums as well.

Honestly I am not as worried as I was, I mean we had jelly bean port off a port the day after and everything is functioning. So I am sure we will have our custom Jelly Bean Roms with as many mods as we did fully functional. After all we do have a nexus device which even though its a lot of hard work it will always have all features working thanks to are many awesome developers.

Didnt crespo4g offically become an aosp device recently as sprint gave the drivers? Im sure sprint will do the same again soon

Its not gonna happen per Jean Baptist quero the toroplus is not gonna be supported in aosp however that does not mean custom roms cannot happen as I and I'm sure others are working on the device tree and a rom also but unless odds turn the toroplus since it is a Samsung device rather than Google will not be supported in aosp

The reason for this is because CDMA is not an open platform. GSM is, which is why there are GSM hacks and cellular sniffers and etc.
CDMA is not open sourced and there is proprietary information that cannot be made public for the world to see. This is exactly the same situation on Verizon.
So Google cannot FULLY make the phones compatible with AOSP but that doesn't stop the devs from grabbing the source, slapping in the required APKs, and building a rom. The Verizon edition has never had any timing issues with releasing the latest and greatest roms. In fact we've had 4.0.4 and 4.1 faster then the other models.
It isn't about the model rather then how many devs are using that model and/or willing to port/create roms for it.

Notable s3 developers?

Hello s3 community! I previously owned a my touch 4g slide that I rooted and explored all the after market development on xda.
Currently with my s3 I am very happy with the stock rom, and I am going to wait for the ota jelly bean update before I decide to root and try the cm10 and other aftermarket roms.
I'm just wondering which developers to look for once I do root the phone, and if there is an official cm10 rom incoming.
If anyone could give me a top 3 or top 5 roms for the S3 I would be extremely thankful.

Well honestly i just came over here for a week..and every Rom i tried has been awesome. It's not like mt4gs where it had subpar development and little support from htc..nothing against the devs but htc didn't give them much to work with.
I'm an aosp guy and you can play with cm10 and aokp without any troubles.

all roms are good i have my favs and they go as such dj,wild,ev1l,casper,ogwisdom,and codenameandroid those are my top devs in my list and go to guys. i always return to aokp and cm10 for the look and feel. but tw for the battery since cm10 and aokp still suck with the battery life well not as much as li8 leak.hope that helped

Depends on what you want. Before making any decisions go try one at the store. If you like it, get it. I do know that samsung doesn't release the exynos source very quickly which is frustrating for development. That alone has scared me off.

Just a little big but the pen is great.

It is a lame thread. What are we going by? What do you need your phone for, and what do you want your phone to do that the s3 can't do? You asking a bunch of random people in the s3 forums isn't going to get you far. Ask in the note 2 forum is a little more helpful probably. Either way stupid thread overall. Oh i thought you were gonna ask us to decide for you what phone you should get and since you talk about hard work then first learn how to use the search button and read what people have responded to threads asking the same stuff you are asking

As long as people learn how to just chill. Even the other known developer here are being affected by the rude comment. As far as know XDA community is all about sharing of ideas, knowledge and place where you can meet friends. Not bashing other people.

It's a known thing, people are too lazy to search and want info spoon fed to them. IF they search and in their thread that they start show they've searched they usually get help, if no one does I will. I hate to help these days cause while I give constructive criticism, the OP still either ignores or takes it as "bashing" or they simply don't acknowledge anything and the thread dies with the OP not responding if it worked for them, resulting in a useless thread, once again.
So OP, how about answering what I posted?

If the ROM isn't a breed between SuperNexus' clean/nice battery life feel and ParanoidAndroid's hybrid and customization. Not interested. It'll be a normal sort of themed CM10 ROM.
You know what there isn't enough of AOKP ROMS.

This guy joined within 6 days and already knows about jalstudio... doesn't sound right.

My rule if thumb: don't trust any new dev that's been here less than a year. How can you develop and be into the custom android world and only have an xda account for such a short time?

DING DING DING!!! I just DTA, especially a new dev that releases a rom within the month he joined AND hasn't introduced himself or given any background info on who he is.

[Q] Paranoid Android 2.99

Yesterday, I flashed the Paranoid Android Rom 2.99. Today I went to the forums to check for updates and the thread had been deleted. Does anyone have any idea why this would have been deleted? I hope that this is still going to be a supported ROM as it has only been in development for this phone for about a week and is already fantastic.

I hope someone else picks this up. I am looking at compiling it from source right now but I am a noob dev so the chances of it being serious are slim and none lol. I checked rootzwiki and he is not on there yet but idk if he might be later.

aw hell, i could cry. thankfully the current build is good enough to be a daily driver. really hope some one picks it up though im so spoiled by dpi control on a per app basis and 4.2.1 i refuse to use cm 10.1 and any 4.1.2 rom, but thats my problem i suppose.
just out of curiosity, anyone know why that dev was banned in the first place

Hopefully a dev will come around to port PA 3.0, which should be release in a day out two. Im excited about AOSPA!

As with most bannings and pulling of threads, we'll probably never know. I hate how this happens and no explanation is given to those in the community who may have been enjoying the work of the banned and have to speculate. The only thing I've seen is that he was banned because he was a "puppy" of someone called "ROM_CHEF". Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Maybe the mod that banned him could offer an explanation? I doubt it.

His work was awesome and the puppy account seemed to follow all the rules so it seemed the dev learned his lesson after his first banning.unless the first banning was for something really serious I don't see any meaning in the second banning.now we are out of a great Rom.but rules are rules I suppose

No. It's bs. We've lost lots of good devs over the years to people nitpicking at rules that where not intended for the purposes they used them for. Then they go on a smear campaign and talk about them behind their back knowing they can't respond or defend themselves. The politics here are just as bad as the politics in this country. I was really trying to learn to compile a couple of years ago and the main 2 guys teaching me got banned out of the blue for using a couple of themed apps in their rom without permission. The kicker? I'm the one that themed the damn apps in question! I didn't complain but some idiot decided to fight my behalf.... As if I need it! I'm a two time combat veteran! I think I can fight my own battles! But anyway, those guys are still banned and did absolutely nothing wrong. So I stopped learning and just try to enjoy the work these devs do before they get banned too.

right now i have aospa and i manged to fix the mms with go sms pro just using it as mms but they show up on the stock and im using camera jb+ for the camcorder but try the other roms to but if your a fan of dpi your going to keep on going back to pa

Once you try PA or 128 DPI there is no going back. Stock look and feel of just gapps is enough to make you realize you have a Bugatti putting around going 15 mph in a smart car.
