Will I sell my S3 for Note 2? what do you think guys?
Depends on what you want. Before making any decisions go try one at the store. If you like it, get it. I do know that samsung doesn't release the exynos source very quickly which is frustrating for development. That alone has scared me off.

It is a lame thread. What are we going by? What do you need your phone for, and what do you want your phone to do that the s3 can't do? As long as people learn how to just chill. Even the other known developer here are being affected by the rude comment. As far as know XDA community is all about sharing of ideas, knowledge and place where you can meet friends. Not bashing other people.
It's a known thing, people are too lazy to search and want info spoon fed to them. IF they search and in their thread that they start show they've searched they usually get help, if no one does I will. I hate to help these days cause while I give constructive criticism, the OP still either ignores or takes it as "bashing" or they simply don't acknowledge anything and the thread dies with the OP not responding if it worked for them, resulting in a useless thread, once again.

If the ROM isn't a breed between SuperNexus' clean/nice battery life feel and ParanoidAndroid's hybrid and customization. Not interested. It'll be a normal sort of themed CM10 ROM.
You know what there isn't enough of AOKP ROMS.

Hello there! Welcome to one of the better xda communities. (the transformer prime one has gone to **** so I mostly hang here now)
A few tips:
Make sure you flash only roms for this specific phone, ppl often make mistake of trying gsm roms.
Don't post a thread in the development section unless you developed something.
When asking a question or needing troubleshooting, list as much detail as possible. Ex: what rom, kernel, situation etc...

He violated XDA's rules by forcing donations, hence why we got back to his thread.
He then linked to another site where the download links he provided there went through AdFly; also a no go.
Since the rules and our moderation intervention obviously didn't sit too overly well with him he decided to quit XDA.
That are the simple facts.
I'll leave this thread open for the time being but keep an eye on it. For as long as this doesn't turn into flamewar you are free to post on.
This stinks, now Scott is gone from the note 2. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come..

He simply said that further efforts (whatever that was supposed to mean) are stopped unless his donation goals are reached.
This is actually "forcing donations" - throwing a "pay up or I won't move a finger" - as the intention was clearly "making revenue" (also backed by the AdFly links he put up on the other site to where he had linked). Both is in conflict with our rules.
As sad as the incident may be, he decided to not play nice all by himself.
Ok thanks for the clarification, shame that every forum seems to have its' cowboys. Had high hopes for this device, still much more civilized than the evo 3d forums.

I'm as grateful as the next person for all the work he did. However, the idea here is that everything is freely shared. The statement that he made was that he wouldn't provide the community with anything else, until he's received enough donations.
It's sad that it came down to this but honestly, the leaks will come anyway and we'll all still benefit from them.

The only thing I've ever seen was they asked to click some ads to help pay for hosting. I don't recall any ultimatums being issued.

We have the devices I just don't have a computer so I been using a file manager to build the rom. But that can only take me but so far. I can't decompive or edit certain files which is a hassle cause I gitta guide my partner in adding my load of the work. I can make kernels or even aosp roms with out it. Im building a rom on the phone but if u ran V3 of the upcoming update you couldn't tell cause its so fast. Imagine what I could do if I had what I need.

I had a computer a mac book pro. But it was stolen. Id be more then hapoy to use an old machine Im not high maintenance like that. Onky thing is compiling aosp roms would be next to impossible because 512mb ram and the cpu they have. Would have to sit and compile for more the 3days. I tested on my old dell. You guys aren't required to support. It would however help everyone here out. Unless no one wants miui or aosp roms and kernels.

I second that... this "virus" guy seems kinda strange.. went in ranting on jedi x yesterday and now hes asking for 500$ to buy a computer for himself...? If he says that he "changed" his name and all then why doesnt he tell us his old name. If this dudes legit ill contribute... until we figure this out id say this is a scam... oh and why is a laptop needed?

I was only trying to help that guy. A few of the features of his rom isn't working like he advertise and I was telling him what files he was missing. And if I disclose who I was myself and a few others would be out of a job. You don't have to donate its not that serious.

I've recently donated to 2 developers to buy Galaxy Note II's and that's because their recognized developers that do amazing work... hell ptmr3 I donated to him and I can't even use his rom as I don't have the same version! But he's done such amazing work and supported all his roms without prejudiced... if you've been doing "this for a long time long b4 android" you should have gear... donating for a device is one thing... a laptop is ridiculous... ask Santa for a retirement gift... 8)

Right so that makes it right because ptr whoever had one. I do t think our forums should be turned into a funding apparatus for certain people to buy stuff in fact im going to start a thread to buy me a new computer and say im developing something. It just doesnt feel right

@op, go ahead and start the project. Learn how to develop and by the time you figure out how retarded it is to try and shoehorn sense onto an aosp device come back here and apologize for starting this thread asking for someone else to do the work.
A simple search would yield that making sense work properly for any non HTC device is a futile effort.

Not Cool Buddy.. Maybe he has a reason and we just don't know yet.
So far I've had this phone for two weeks and I love it. This is the longest I've gone without a rooted phone in 8 years. I don't feel the need to have a rooted phone for now...

This should get moved right away. The post is a slew of negative things that are counter productive to the community. One its false and misleading, titled at&t multiple times and posted in an at&t only forum, someone is going to brick their device and be out 700 bucks cause of this joker. Not to mention this is essentially spam, the only responses to this have been negative as its a fraudulent post, but that's not development and its doing nothing but bring down the integrity of the forum in general.
