Hey, I have a Glide running INC3PETION v1 and using the latest ardatdat kernel, and I was wondering if there is any way for me to change the overclock in said kernel. It is currently set to 1.2ghz but I want to bump it up a tiny bit to maybe 1.3ghz or (if it's safe) 1.4ghz. This is so I can watch some video files (mkv) without having the bad audio lag issues. I would not be having it overclocked at that speed all the time, only for short periods. The only thing preventing me from just keeping a copy of cranium (I think it's cranium) on my sd is portability. The only kernel I know of that is OC'd higher than ardatdat hasn't fixed the data counter issue. And it needs Odin. I would like to be able to just go into CWM and flash my extra OC'd kernel when I need it. As a last thought, I think ardatdat has stopped (or paused) development so if this is at all possible, help is greatly appreciated.

You can try to download no frills CPU control.should be able to overclock when you need it then, just make sure you have root (su)

@above Still, the max is set to 1.2
Side question: say I don't want to install a separate app: what files should I have to mod to select the governor and maximum frequency?
Thanks.

Make your own thread for your own question... I'm looking for an answer to my problem and I don't need constant notifications about yours. Thanks.
And just to clarify, I have an overclocking app already. What I'm looking for is how to change the max clock speed that is set in the kernel. Or just a kernel that has it already raised above 1.2. I need the data counter fixed though, no matter what.

Audio lag I believe can be fixed in inception v2 with voodoo sound.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda premium
Its only happening in mx when I play mkv. Its a known speed issue with the player. Also, I really don't like the theme on v2
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda app-developers app
If it's a known speed issue with the app, why would changing the oc on the kernel affect it? Think about, the general audience for the app don't have OC kernels. It is supposed to work without OC. I think just an update to the app will fix it.
I'll see if I can unpack boot.img for the kernel, anyway
Well you see it's an issue with older phones. And mine has had a bit of an issue with speed simply because of some of the apps I have running. That's why I wanted to do this. Its hardware limitations. I just worded it wrong.

Isnt it just easier to kill the running apps before playing the video, than setting another oc just to play it. your reasons for doing these are too strange...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda app-developers app
Except that the running apps are ones that I cannot kill? My Data monitor, antivirus, facebook (which I would like to kill but cannot) as well as a few others are what slow it down. Besides, I just would like to see how well the videos run at a higher clock. Simple curiosity is probably the best way to explain it.

sorry same here I don't know how to help you. I was just trying to help you out and close different applications that are open in the backround. What I usually do is log off certain applications like facebook and other ones I actually turned around and uninstall anything that stays resident and in memory this way I know that my phone is not running any non essential application in the background.

I expect you'd need to modify the source of the kernel to support a higher max OC, and then you'd need to build the kernel from source. I didn't spot the source for any of the kernels on our phone at a glance, but I didn't look too hard, if you track one down it should be fairly straightforward.
Ah ok. And getting the tools to do so is a piece of cake, so I suppose that's what I'll have to do. Thanks for your help!

what u might wanna do is download voltage control and see if it isnt effecting ure speeds performance, alot has to do with overclocking and upscaling and downscaling when u do roms specially if uve installed kernels with OC on it. make sure that settings are corect, like governor section is to this category
500000 SA
90-95 for UP
10 DD
4 SDF
0 for both INL and PB
1 to IIB thats normal upscaling to governor
also make sure that ure settings arent set to low other then ondemand, or powersave, best once that seem to help are ondemand and msm-dcvs if voltage supports it. second section should be at cfq.
, if that doesnt fix it, u might wanna try a different rom if that doesnt fixes the problem, other whize u gonna have to odin back to stock do a factory reset from ure phone not the CWM do it 2 or 3 times, and re-try again and see if that fixs it.
Im not a dev so im not a pure expert at this but i go by how my phone functions with every rom i flash and the performance it gives, ive found both Phantom blaze and paranoid android roms seem to be the best for me. i switch back and forth to each other because i like the phablet mode on paranoid, and smooth and impressive battery life saver on phantoms. No kernels, other then what already comes with, except for the 2100mhz load krnel that supports for paranoid android,. seriously battery killer thought if u OC it to 2100.

either u might have a faulty GS3 or ure software installation went utterly wrong while updating and messed up somewhere in the middle of the installation. did u get it updated already or did u get it when it was using lg2 modem?
if u got it with the LG8 modem, try odin it back to LG2 or lower, and update from there, see if that helps.
u dont need to worry bout ure flash count going up because samsung software doesnt count on ure flash count no matter how many times u flash the Stock modem.
Um idk what that means. All I know is I have everything updated via updates and every S3 does this if it's stock. This is my second and it does it to. Set the picture frame widget or flip board widget medium to your home screen then do a nenamark

humm,...couldnt tell yah, if uve never rooted ure phone and are using stock software u might have a faulty gs3 with faulty software, ive never had my gs3 mess up on me on stock rom before i rooted. Ive had my GS3 non-rooted for about 3 weeks updated and all and no issues, no slow downs, only issues ive had was 1: my friend breaking my phone, 2 battery life, and not being able to store ure apps to ure sd card, all which was an easy fix with rooting and making my buddy get me a new phone.

Well I would personally think there's someone who knows how to fix this.. visually there's no difference. But after nenamark once I remove the widget I drop to 30 fps. And it stays that way. My thought is that it is locked into some sort of cache that I have to manually delete or clear for it to be like it never was added to home screen

Its like it was mention above, there really isnt anything any of the devs can do, if ure not rooted, and ure arent operating under a custom rom, ure pretty much using stock base software which only has to do with normal built development done by samsung, they should be ones u should be contacting not the devs here.......they only deal with phones with root and custom roms to make the phone better. Now u could try rooting ure phone and installig a custom rom to see if that does fix the problem, in most cases like ures, only thing to do is take it in to a sprint store and have it inspect or do it ureself odin it with a earlier version of modem, best 1 would be LG2 modem and update from there and see if that changes anything, i can garante u if u do take it to sprint they might charge u to inspect it again, and all they gonna do is odin ure phone from an earlier versions.

If you're stock non-rooted, then after a factory reset, there's nothing you could have done to mess this up.
If you go to a sprint store, they can reflash your stock software and see if that fixes the issue. It takes about 3 minutes, and in my experience, they've been very courtesy and helpful.

Try opening the settings>apps>launcher and clearing the cache and deleting the launchers data.
Widgets are stored in the launcher apps data, so clearing these values should put you back to default settings.

What's your screen on time.
Looked kinda like liteflow might be causing problems?
Cell Standby i think is the one that is coded wrong and is lying, ignore that one.
If you press Android System in settings, battery it will show you the top components being used
Also in dev options look for and check Show CPU Usage. It will show whats using the cpu in the top right of your screen. Watch for what stays in the top few spots in the list.
There may have been something that didnt like the update. Try first uninstalling apps and if that helps reinstall them clean, no data restore. If you continue to have problems backup all data and factory reset. Start clean.
If all else fails use odin to flash the full LH2 fw.
LH2 should be a fairly stable build. Most have no issues and many get outstanding battery life. Im willing to bet its either an app or the way you updated or both.

That's really not THAT bad for a screen on time. I saw your screenshots in the OP, and you were down to 80% in only two hours of being on the battery, but you had the screen on for almost an hour of those two hours; 20%/hr for the first few hours is pretty normal. It's not stellar, but I wouldn't say it's an epic drain that being said, I'm sure you could squeeze some more juice out of it, and prob is just an app causing more drain than usual.
Also when doing a screenshot, it helps to hit the power button first, then the volume, so you don't get the volume pop up every time.

When you say they reach cap what do you mean exactly? Do you mean the point where it starts auto deleting when you reach the set number of stored messages?
If you delete some/many/all of your texts does it work right again? If you do have auto delete set , does it still happen if you turn that off?

Ok. Well at least now we can be fairly sure we know what causes it. I know its not what you are going to want to do but you could either turn off the auto delete option, manually assign a much shorter tone to any contacts that get this high, or try this.... set the limit to something like 500, then when you reach that point set it back down to 200 and see if it deletes everything back down to that point. Then set back to 500 until it happens again. Or try turning it off and when you feel its time to clean house turn it back on, let it delete everything back to 200, and turn it off again. I don't know if it'll even work this way but may be worth a try.
I know these are just workarounds, but they may be easier to deal with than messed up notification tones at least until a fix of some sort is found.
Another possibility is using a 3rd party app, but I couldn't tell you which to go with there.

I have stock gnex on takju, since 4.2.2 I have suffered from lag all over the place, the lag could be fixed by restarting the phone but it would eventually come back.
I have only 300MB of data plan and I noticed that Facebook and facebook messenger where using about 50MB a month on the background without any user interaction and just a couple of days ago I started seeing Facebook app as the second most battery using app just behind screen on, this made me uninstall Facebook and and I instantly saw performance go up all over the place, it was night and day comparison, my phone feels like new and the buttery effect is back.
Now I installed Facebook back just to test and it indeed is the reason for my lag but this time I used greenifyed it and it fixed the lag too.
So there you go, hope this helps

Does matter. I disabled background data (as opposed to removing the app entirely) on Facebook and have noticed substantial speed improvement instantly. The only place you can do it, that I'm aware of, is from the mobile data screen when checking the apps usage.

There are two places to disable notification from Facebook on mobile.
The first would be to go into the settings by clicking on the 3 point button just right of the multitasking navigation key, then disabling notifications.
Second, by clicking on the top left corner button inside the Facebook app, then clicking on privacy settings --> notifications---> mobile push--> uncheck all
Sometimes I think Facebook deliberately tries to complicate the notification settings so as to keep pushing themselves on our faces!
