Hey guys .
I am a lil worried 'bout my phone.
Just flashed a kernel, everything was ok, booted into the rom and installed some apps.
I was getting nervous because i cannot even delete or move files from or to /sdcard/0/, but i was able to copy files.
The strange part was that if i go to /gata/media/0/ i could see files that i could not see in /sdcard/0/, and i was able to move, delete and so on.
If you didn't get it, i will give ya an example:
I have in /sdcard/0 a folder named Allah. If i want to access it a message appearing tells me that i don't have permission to do that.
If i go to /data/media/0/ i can open "Allah" and see its contents.
It is like /data/media/0/ and /sdcard/0/ are different partitions, but everyone knows that /sdcard/ is in fact a symlink to /data/media/.
Hoping that this is just a minor problem maybe because the partiton got corrupted i went to recovery->mount/storage->format /sdcard.Then disaster: recovery crashed, i think, phone rebooted itself and started bootlooping again and again.
So:
I cannot flash anything, if i access recovery i will end in a bootloop.
I cannot acces my rom, it bootloops and enters bootloader.
I tried reflashing boot.img and recovery.img with no results.
Flashing original recovery.img doesn't help.
Powering down and plugging it into the wall charger makes it start int bootloader.Wth?
I think recovery crashed when formatting my /sdcard, so should i use a command to format it from fastboot or something?
What rom do i use?
AOKP 2.0m.
What recovery do i use?
6.0.2.7 touch CWM.
What phone do i have?
HOX+.I posted here because our comunity is smaller and i need an answer ASAP .
My bootloader say it is relocked, i dont know why.Didn't touch it at all.
Also if i try rebooting into recovery/ rom from fastboot, some red lines appear for 1-2 seconds telling:
"this build is for
development only
do not distribute to htc
failed something to any legal bla bla" <- or something like that i dont have time to read it all.
Solution:
If your battery is low, use this to charge your phone:
Code:
" [user=279333]@ECHO[/user] off
:start
fastboot getvar battery-voltage
fastboot reboot-bootloader
ping /n 6 localhost >nul
goto start
"
Make a .bat and place it where your adb.exe / fastboot .exe is located.
For those who are lazy i made a .rar, check attachments.
Source : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1658084 .
Now let the phone reach 3750mV.After that, close the cmd window opened by the .bat you made.
Open another instance of cmd and:
Code:
cd <path to your adb folder>;
fastboot getvar all;
The output will be like this:
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5a
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.35.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 3.1204.168.32
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
[COLOR="red"](bootloader) version-main: 1.17.401.1[/COLOR]
(bootloader) serialno: FA2AKW104376
(bootloader) imei: 353567050449843
(bootloader) product: enrc2b_u
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-T30S
(bootloader) modelid: PM3511000
(bootloader) cidnum: HTC__032
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 3731mV
(bootloader) devpower: 23
(bootloader) partition-layout: None
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: None
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 2
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
all: Done!
Now this "version-main: 1.17.401.1" is your main version.
Look in your forums for an apropriate RUU.If your main version is different, dont worry!
Look for a RUU for your version.Don't take an upper one, because you may want to downgrade after that and it will be difficult.
Turn your phone into fastboot and flash the RUU you just downloaded.
That's it !
If your encoutering errors during RUU update, google is your friend .
Make sure your battery is charged enough.

Yep, only for HOX+ international.
If i try booting/ rebooting from fastboot the bootloader will display a security warning untill bootloader reboot.
As always, i f*cked things up so my problems dont stop here.My battery is also low.
Plugging the ac charger will make the device start in fastboot mode, and it shuts down for a reason after a while...Then the lil' charging led wont lit, so it is not charging :|.
I think reflash firmware should help..after again custom recovery..kernel and Rom...did you have also the firmware flash tool...easy all in one thingy

Thanks i will look into that. But as i said in the first post, I can't acces recovery nor ROM.
Selecting recovery will end up showing htc logo with some red lines with some warnings, then bootloader shows again.
I tried reflashing boot.img / recovery.img with no results.

Well I was actually directing my friend to do it over a Skype/TeamViewer call, so maybe he wasn't actually in fastboot usb when I sent it.
I assumed that the sending message meant he was in it.
I'll try again with him tomorrow, thanks. (Out of thanks for the day)
Edit:
One more thing, are there any benefits of running an RUU first (my CID is HTC__023).
And if so, what would the process be considering I have already unlocked the bootloader?

Running the ruu would flash everything back to stock as well as wiping all data such as apps, contacts etc, so best to back up first if you're considering this that will also flash the recovery you mentioned earlier, I THINK you'd need to relock the bootloader to run a ruu (not certain).
You'd just do the same, run the ruu on your computer (or friends), I suggest again to be in fastboot USB mode although I'm not certain this is essential, I just do it to be extra sure that the process will pick the device up

Hi,
It goes to show that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!!
I flashed my phone with Team Viper 2.6 (I think) and all was working fine ubtil I tried another Rom, can't remember which one and the phone will not boot past the HTC white screen.
After many hours of being unsuccessful, I sent the phone back to HTC for repair and after a few days they said that the mainboard needed replacing for almost £200 !!! So i decided against that and got the phone back.
I can get into HBoot and Fasboot USB, also can get into TWRP, so tried to reload Team Viper, as that is the only backup I had. It went through the installation process OK, but still won't get past the flash screen.

Sorry for the detailed post, but I wanted provide as much info as possible.
Now my question is: CAN SOMEONE PROVIDE A VERY SIMPLISTIC PROCEDURE TO RESTORE TO STOCK?
I feel the that phone is not "bricked" but maybe I'm wrong.
Your help and expertise would be so much appreciated for this noobie!!:fingers-crossed:

You probably just need to flash the boot.img from the rom zip...extract it to your fastboot folder and then execute " fastboot flash boot boot.img" and then "fastboot erase cache" using cmd (command prompt) and then reboot

Thanks for the reply, but where would I get the boot.img from?
Would that be from the Team Viper ROM, or do I download from elsewhere?
Look in the flashable zip. Simply extract the boot.img from the zip:thumbup:

U have a backup of viper rom right? And twrp recovery? So there is a boot.emmc.win file in twrp folder on your sd card.. Flash this boot file from fastboot( b4 or after restoring the backup)

You will find it in the rom zip file or you can download the viper kernel from the rom's thread..either of them will work for you.. good luck mate

Thanks to all you guys for your help, but did as you suggested and still no further forward.
Is there a ROM that will return my phone to stock complete with kernel, boot.img etc, that will re-install everything, wike a Windows re-installation. Or am I asking too much here?
I am losing faith in this and I can see it being dumped in the trash before long.
Flash this recovery
http://db.tt/SPXdFfPw
Rename it to recovery.img and flash it :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then flash the boot.img from the viper x 3.7.5 (open the rom.zip with 7zip and copy the file)
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then go into recovery and wipe all :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Mounts & storage - format cache,data,system
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Then install the viper x rom.zip and follow instructions.
When you get a question about a kernel....choose viper x delivered !
Done

Mr Hofs, many thanks for the links. I downloaded 3.7.4 and the update 3.7.5.
That was the good bit......I tried to push the ROM using adb in command mode, but I couldn't get it to recognise the phone.
I thought I maybe able to drop the files onto the sd card via Windows, but althought the phone is recognised in Device Manager, it doesn't show up in Windows Explore.
I am sorry that all your help and advice has been wasted, maybe it will help others whose phone isn't as sick as mine.
I may have another go tomorrow, but it's looking like it's headed for that great waste bin in the sky.:crying:
If you want to copy the rom to the phone you go into the recovery and then to
Mounts & storage - mount as mass storage (last option in that list)
Its now a usb diskdrive and windows will recognize it (if its not, wait long enough like a minute or so. It can take a while)
Then copy the stuff you need.
Mr Hofs, Many thanks for your help.
I downloaded 3.7.4 and update 3.7.5 and tried adb push and sideload but my device wasn't recognised, although W8 could see it in Device Manager.
I will give it one more go today and if that doesn't work, it's that great trash bin in the skt.
Again many thanks for your help.:crying:
Like i said you don't need to sideload or adb anything, just do as above and you can copy it normally

Just one last question.... is there a way to get back to the Viper default settings, colours etc, without re-installing the ROM?
What do you mean exactly with colours and stuff, did you flash a theme ?

Yes I did ! I used your dark and yellow theme, but the trouble is now that I can't read texts and the normal (HTC) settings are all in yellow and very difficult to read.
Should I do a complete install of Viper again?
Lol did you picked the yellow theme on the skin picker ?
After an OTA update my htc one x got into boot loop and the battery also stopped charging.
i charged the battery with the help of fashboot script and unlocked my boot loader and installed custom recovery. After that i charged my phone fully but still it is not starting. stuck at boot loop.
now i want to install stock ruu so please help to find the right ruu for my htc one x
CID-11111111

i tried to install /RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.27_Radi o_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed.exe
this one but it gave an error "Error [159]:image error. choose the correct rom.
please help thanks in advance:crying:
You have S-OFF and SuperCid, so I think the RUU method should work, but maybe first change the CID to another like HTC__001 or HTC__E11 using command like in fastboot mode:
"fastboot oem writecid HTC__001"
Yep should work
Or flash the 1.39 hboot firmware and then the 3.14 ruu

Mr Hofs thanks for your kind reply
i tried JB FW easy flasher tool. It changed my CID from 11111111 to HTC_621 and tried to flash firmware but it got stuck at sending 'zip' and phone remains at silver htc logo.
so far i tried to run RUU with my cid as 11111111
shall i try to run RUU after my cid changed to HTC_621
and i dont know how to upgrade hboot.
sir please guide
So your fastboot works......well download the 3.14.401 firmware zip file from the firmware placeholder thread (where you also posted in)
Rename the zip file to firmware.zip and flash it
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
This all needs to be done with a locked/relocked bootloader.

Mr Hofs first of all thank you very much for your help.
here is my story. i bought HTC one x 10 days ago. i am not aware of initial CID, hboot etc. i bought it from Taiwan and presently i am in india.
After two days there was an OTA i got my phone updated and all the problems started. it got into bootloop. This is the time i look for help on XDA. I did factory reset but of no use. After some time i realized battery is also not charging. Every time i plug the phone to pc or wall charger it starts automatically and gets into bootloop. With the help of XDA i found the fastboot script for charging the battery. After that i unlocked my phone and flashed the CWM recovery and got battery charged.
It is the time i came know about
UNLOCKED
S-OFF
version-main-2.17.401.2
Hboot-1.12.0000
CID-11111111
But the problem of not booting up still persisting.
i downloaded and tried
1. RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed_2
2. ruu_endeavor_u_jb_45_s_htc_europe_3.14.401.27_radio_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed
3. RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_TW_3.14.709.20_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_292865_signed_2
and
4. RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed_2
first three RUU stuck at sending file and after 10 minutes or so gave error [159]:image error
The fourth one installed successfully without giving any error but the phone was still in bootloop.
I tried custom rom cyanogenmod 10.1 but it didnt install, it required higher version of Hboot.
Tried MIUI rom it got installed but the touch screen not working.
After that as you suggested i tried to update the firmware 3.14.401. The link you gave was not working may be temporarily. But it was already there on my pc. I didnt flashed it earlier because i was not sure whether this was correct firmware for my phone.
A week passed in above mentioned research.
Today i flashed the firmware and it gave and error with the message to flash it again immediately. So again i run the command but noting happened. so after 15 minutes i removed the phone from pc and restarted it and there it was Hboot-1.39.
So i tried the RUU no. 3 (mentioned above). This time it stuck at erasing user data for about 30 minutes so again i removed the phone from pc.
After that i installed cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly.
Now the phone is working put some features are not working like camer. i think this may be the fault of rom..
Sir should i flash the firmware again?
What i do know to go back to stock or custom rom fully functional and similar to stock.
Well anyway i had lost the hope and with your kind support i made is of some use. Thanks again
Try any other sense based rom, all roms should work on that hboot (1.39) even all sense 5 roms.
So try SD rom, or viper x 4....just to name a few....or arhd, doesn't matter wich one actually. Just try one and get back

Sir now the camera is not working. when i switch on the camera it displays distorted static colors instead of image, its totally garbled.
and in SD rom the even after inserting the sim there is no network.
whereas in cyanogenmod network was there. only the camera was having the same problem.
and sometimes there is error "command write failed" using fastboot commands
And sir sometimes commands does not works. It hangs at sending .... even in ruu also it stuck at erasing data, sometime at rebooting to bootloader and sometime at sending... dont know what is happening .
And after flashing firmware 3.14. when i boot into boot loader there is one thing which comes in red for around one second or so.. "[preload] Failed to open usb mass storage" something like that..
dont know how to fix it.

Try to use a USB 2.0 port (no USB 3.0)
You could try to disable virusscannersoftware
Download the stock recovery and boot.img from a 3.14.401.31 and flash them via fastboot firmware 3.14.401.31
Write CID to HTC__E11
Relock your bootloader
Flash a RUU via PC (execute .exe file) download RUU. I recommend a re-download, cause you had img error before.

The firmware is a zip file open it with 7zip and copy the boot.img and recovery from it and flash it
And btw, flashing boot and recovery files has to be done with a UNLOCKED bootloader, installing ruu files and flashing firmware files has to be done with a LOCKED/RELOCKED bootloader !

This is assuming you didnt completely brick your phone which, was my situation. also assuming you can still access your start menu:
click start>settings> on the bottom next to Personal tab, select System.
now select Clear Storage(the icon should be a garbage can with files going into it)
I believe it prompts you to give it the okay. I dont remember if it told me i was going to lose all saved applications and contacts, BUT yeah I did lose all that stuff. That was more than fine considering my phone was ****ED! No apps would open there were errors all over the place and I couldnt get it to flash. Anyway, it hard resets, you see the att screen and it literally goes thru the whole customization setup you went thru when you first turned it on. THATS A GOOD SIGN! haha. it works perfectly.
CONCLUSION: This simple way put my phone right back to its original ATT settings down to the very last piece of crap, lol. BUT i was MOREEE than happy to see it. From there I was able to flash HardSPL(ROM that allows flashing of any other ROM your heart desires)...and the rest is history!
Hope this helps.

WILL DA ROM WORK IN THIS?
Hello everyone,
I might have bricked my HTC One X while preparing for a custom rom. A year ago I flashed a custom rom on my Desire S without any problems
so I have a basic idea about this process.
First, I unlocked my phone using HTC Dev, worked fine (Unlocked but S-ON).
Next, I wanted to flash OpenRecovery TWRP 2.6.3.0. This is what I got:
C:\one>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (8432 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.117s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) Format partition SOS done
FAILED (remote: err = 0xa)
finished. total time: 1.344s
So I couldn´t flash TWRP. I also tried using Desire S All-In-One Toolkit with the same outcome.
I repeated this a couple of times without success. Tried the Goo App, but it couldn´t download the files needed (WiFi worked).
Also, ADB is not recognizing my device (list of devices stays emtpy).
adb kill-server
adb start-server
adb devices does not help.
Stupidly, while being in Bootloader mode, I tried "Factory Reset" and now the phone always starts in this mode.
I can´t access Android any more.
Using the function "Recovery", the phone will either hang itself showing the closing sequence logo or return to the Bootloader
menu after a second.
I tried finding a new firmware, but following the link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1957376), I can´t identify a correct firmware at the download chapter.

Because the phone was bricked at this point, I tried flashing five different firmware.zip`s, and none worked (could not be flashed / got a message like different version or checksum) - in the end, all this had no effect on the current status / remained all unchanged. I am not sure which firmware version could work.
I searched about all these problems but could not find a solution yet.
HTC Drivers are ver. 3.0.0.007 / Windows 7 64bit / HTC Sync was closed while flashing, USB port is 2.0.
I also tried to restart the phone without fastboot mode, but it also did not work:
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
Now I have no idea how to continue. I guess the trick is to avoid the fastbood mode to flash the recovery and then perform the rest as usual,
but nothing seems to work.
Anyone got an idea?
First of all..
Why are you using a toolkit for a different phone?
Second, try to rwflash the recovery and do fastboot erase cache, I recommend flash philz touch recovery

Hi, at first, many thanks. Philz touch worked perfectly. Tried TWRP. After hours, I got it running, but the touchpad functiond didn´t work.
Philz recovery is way better than TWRP.
Finally I´ve been able to flash my new (Venom) rom.
Thanks a lot!
Glad it works never use a toolkit imho.. it's also way more fun to flash everything yourself.
No hard feelings against the developers though enjoy the phone

Yeah, I guess I had a wrong version of TWRP at the beginning.
Manual fastboot command line options are way quicker.
In the end, it tool me less then 20mins to complete flashing.
Maybe one last question: I did a nandroid backup of the existing system before.
I think it´s stored on the internal storage, not on the extension which is visible in Windows via USB.
Should I just leave the nandroid backup where it is or make a copy to my computer?
If yes, how can I "extract" it?
Thx!

Recoveries don't save Nandroids to the data partition, so it's definitely on your virtual sdcard, the phones storage. Search for the folder ClockworkMod on your sdcard and it should be there.

Yes and you may also want to upload your nandroid in the general section with a collection of all nandroid backups, you could save someone's phone that way!
I also always make sure I have a copy of my stock Rom on dropbox. Also a stock recovery just to be safe. If I ever need to return to stock i have the files needed.

Hi everyone
I have looked everywhere to find the solution to thus issus but nothing found has worked so far. I have got a one x with boot loop I can get in to fast boot fine and cab flash boot and recovery fine also can lock and unlock the bootloader fine. The issue is no matter what ROM I try it will not boot. I have tried revolution HD flashed the correct firmware.zip for HTC__01 flash boot.zip and then flash the ROM with cwm when it reboots it just boot loops on the start screen. If I flash a cwm nandroid of factory ROM and flash boot.zip it just freezes on the start screen a format all the partitions every time. The only thing I notice when ever I flash then is it takes only 30/40 seconds looking like it never copy's the files to system but I never see any errors. Anyone seen this and know how to solve it. Thanks for looking

Just a bit more of an update I have just tried to flash viper ROM followed it to the word flashing boot.IMG clearing cache then installed but all that happens now it power on to the first HTC screen for about 10 sec then reboots back to the same screen and then goes in to cwm by itself. Tried reflashing the boot.IMG and clear the cache but still the same. Anyone ever seen this before.

Did you do full wipe and dalvik wipe?
Another ROM Wahoooo
I did a full wipe in cwm and have done every time I tried to install a rom all have failed to boot. Do you think the fact it reboot in to cwm in the second loop is showing the ROM is not loading on to the nand.

Download the full Viper X rom not OTA full zip THIS or THIS extract the boot.img from the rom arhive and place the boot.img in your fastboot folder. Copy the rom to your SD card. Co in fastboot and flash the boot.img with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img after this run fastboot erase cache go in recovery and do a full wipe install the rom from SD card. Restart the phone and everything will be OK.
looking in to this it looks like the file system is damaged and needs to be restored with an RUU but I do not believe there is one for 4.18.401.2
