Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Okay 1 word Wow! I run Carbon my infuse and I've always loved it. I've been running Noattch's Mint TW ROM since I got my phone on June 1st it is imo the best TW ROM by far. I have been hesitant switching to a aosp ROM because even though the Samsung features are a bit gimmicky they are still pretty cool. I use cross breeder and ktoonzs with mint and it ran pretty damn good! But I decided to go aosp yesterday and since Carbon Team are some of the most dedicated talented devs on Xda They were the first I chose and damn it it was a great choice (if I do say so myself). I'm running night lies with ktoonz and crossbreeder and pardon my French but holy **** dicks! This is so buttery so crisp so responsive it has not even been 24 hours and I'm already over missing the Samsung toys. TEAM CARBON!!! THANK YOU!!

Ya on the various mirrors sometimes it doesnt fully upload, it is a semi-common occurrence so be sure to check the size before downloading

Great rom, is this the latest 3.68 ?

Ran Carbon on my S3 and it was the best ROM I ever had. I want this super bad. Couple question, though: does the IR blaster work on this? Where is the link for GAPPS?

Was the working IR merged into this?

Not yet, at least as of 0721 nightly. Last I heard they were waiting for the patch to become more stable, but I forget where I read there etc.

recommended Gapps is: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
iirc it shows which one to use in Goomanager too.

I know that screen shot can be used from the Power button options.
I am trying to find how to replace the lock screen wallpaper, custom image too.

Aosp is volume down + power for screenshot, while TW is power and home combo.
Change lock screen wallpaper by going to system settings --> carbon --> interface --> lockcreen background --> select custom image

Ah. That section is meant for devices that need/have special functionality. Kind of like vibration settings etc... It's device specific.

Yeah I'm testing this now, Carbon is an awesome ROM no matter what version I've tried previously. The community here will embrace this undoubtedly. Can't wait to see the progression to stable but looks like the ROM has some pretty neat features already including active display.
I plan on using this with no scripts or tweaks for the time being either, see how it does.

Well we read it here first! Also the new boot animation is great, and boot time is phenomenal. Boot only takes seconds and I have not had that with ONE single ROM yet. Boots have normally been about a minute or so with other ROMs.
I'm going to try some things I haven't tried in a bit like ART although previously my experience with it hasn't been good. But again, a lot of time has passed since the last time I tried it.
Edit: Well never mind, ART couldn't get past the first 10 apps. That is pretty much what I thought would happen so no big deal. It's almost at the point ART might as well be removed altogether from KK ROMs but that is only my take, so in other words that isn't happening.

Art works. Try doing it without gaaps. Some gaaps don't have art support and that's why it gets stuck.

Just want to say that Carbon KitKat has been everything I could have hoped for and more! Keep up the good work!
I'm glad they waited so long to start releasing official nightlies. The result has been a very smooth and stable ROM. I look forward to more features being added, but right now, it is my favorite kk ROM.
On my S3 and N7 great rom
Got the Carbon downloader and downloaded the 2/5 nightly. When I tried to (dirty) flash 2/5 over 2/3 after wiping cache and Dalvik (per the usual), everything went fine, but when the ROM booted it said something like "unable to perform Encryption, please perform a factory rest of your phone by pressing the button below". Any ideas? I went back to 2/3 until I can figure out what's up. Not really thrilled with starting from scratch at the moment, does anyone feel me?!?!?

You can wipe cache, dalvik and system, but not data. This will leave all of your apps, widgets, and settings in place. Also, check the md5 and make sure it's not a problem with your download.
I've been dirty flashing for years I just don't know why all the sudden the encryption thing pops up because my partitions are not encrypted. The rom looks like it flashes fine just like any other nightly before.
Just a heads up for everyone looking to try this ROM or update to a new nightly, Carbon team is moving to a brand new server, and downloads will be sporadic/nonexistent for a little while (maybe the rest of the week according to their blog post). Read about it here:

I have downloaded all of the nightlies to this point, let me know if you want me to upload one and I can PM you a link. Carbon was the best 4.3 ROM available prior to KitKat, and they have continued that trend with their current releases. Amazing work by the Carbon team!
Is 4G working on the 2/4 nightly? I flashed last night but have not had 4G all day. Could be they are doing some work on it here just not sure if its ROM related or sprint.

2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ

Already loving Kit Kat! Thanks Carbon!
Man, this ROM is SOLID! It's great to be back home. I hope Carbon gets to relive its glory days, as it did in 4.3. Great job team!

Can anyone let me know how data is please. A lot of devs have perfected the icons showing but data is sketchy. I like the features that are listed here and I would love to make this my everyday driver. I have been a CM fan for ever but I don't like the change in policy. Build and send out then hope for the best. This ROM seems like the one to replace CM. Thank you.

data for me has been nothing short of a miracle! It has been switching seamlessly between 3G and LTE with no issues what-so-ever. I used to hate having to always reboot the phone just to get LTE in an area I know has LTE. I am also on the newest radio the GJ04 and have been for quite some time.
---------- Post added at 04:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 PM ----------
The only issue I have so far (and its not a deal breaker by any means) is screen rotation...when the screen rotates, it sort of gets fuzzy, like a bad picture, but then quickly fixes itself. Running Carbon KitKat on my SGS4 as well and it does not do that, so I'm thinking its something with the Toroplus??
dirty flashed the most recent nightly and running well. digging the pie controls. any way that the Carbon Updates in about phone could work to update to the latest nightly as there are no KK milestones?
Very impressed with this Rom !
downloaded and flashed yesterday, very nice and stable. I like that the dialer has the Google local business search function built-in, I remember earlier cm builds didn't have it...
Haven't noticed any hiccups yet!:good:
Anyone flash a custom kernel with this Rom? any kernel suggestions?
Alternative Kernel
flashed the tinykernel-5.5-ASRAM.zip yesterday and everything seems to be running smooth after a day of use. This kernel is giving me 733mb of RAM to work with, so you gain around 30mb over the included rom kernel. I've tested WIFI, GPS, camera, etc., everything seems to function as it should. I've also underclocked to 230MHz and kept the max set at 1200, although you can go over 1500MHz if your phone can handle it...mine usually freezes instantly around 1500. Currently I'm still on build from 2-13, but will be updating soon.
This Rom seems to be very stable and one of the best KitKat Roms I've tried ! I've also reduced animations setting, along w/ other available related settings down to .25 within developer options. Under this set up my phone is pretty snappy!
Data switching (3g/4g, Wifi) has been flawless so far!
Although the tiny kernel I mention above works on this Rom, I was experiencing pretty often freeze ups requiring battery pulls, so running the included kernel since updating the rom and haven't had to battery pull yet... so for now will stick w/ the included cyanogenmod kernel.
Overall Great Rom !

Welcome to Eos! The Eos project originated with the AOSP release of ICS, and was originally founded by Solarnz and co founded by Bigrushdog. Since then, Eos has evolved into a multinational collaborative effort backed by top Android developers. Our objective is to provide a world class AOSP build with unique features and enhancements. Eos is an ongoing development project in which builds are released on a regular basis. Every release should be considered stable and highly functional.

These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST 4.4.x COMPATIBLE RECOVERY.
Detailed instructions:
Going to EOS4.4.x from a rom < 4.4.x:
Backup everything !
Go to recovery
Make a full wipe / factory reset
format /system
Flash the rom
Flash optional kernel
Flash gapps
Reboot
Updating from EOS 4.4.x #XX to #YY:
You can usually skip the full wipe step.
If ever you encounter an issue make sure you make a full wipe first before reporting though.
These are only for Bigpart enabled devices. IF YOU DON'T HAVE BIGPART SUPPORT DO NOT FLASH!
Many things are broke, including camera and radios on telephony enabled devices. I'm opening a thread here for the purposes of furthering development and discussion. These builds are only for folks that enjoy punishment and can give guidance on what i need to do to get the broke things fixed. The Eos project is now geared towards supporting modern qcom devices. However, we're fairly close to getting some proper Xoom builds.
I personally want to give a HUGE THANKS to @Schischu for carrying on the Xoom battle! I'm really glad Xoom users have been able to enjoy strong, stable 4.4 builds. Also, I want to give another HUGE THANKS to @Schischu for thinking up the Bigpart kernel patch. That is not my work and I just wanna make sure that's clear.
I am using @Schischu 's device trees and @flar2 's kernel for now. Once we can get reasonable stable, I'll bring in Backtrack support and all that fun stuff. Once again, I give huge props and respect to @Schischu for the amazing work he has done.
Also, I give a huge thanks to @shpitz for giving me what has turned out to be a VERY LONG TERM LOAN on his Stringray! If someone want's to take lead on maintaining and developing Xoom for me, please speak up! @shpitz i'm sure wants his Stingray back sooner rather than later.

Come on in guys! I must really be a glutton for punishment these days!
Ok, let's start with the good news. Wifi, bluetooth, and it looks like the sensors all come up. And overall, the build feels stable. I haven't got random reboots or anything like that.
The bad news: camera and radios are broke. And those are usually the hardest to fix. Eos uses CM tele framework, including the new msim support from CAF. I've trolled every team's repo out there and can't see to get camera right. I do believe i'm close though. I've got about 5 or 6 open commits on Eos review pertaining to tegra2 related display stuff, yet they don't seem to work for me here.
Updated 6/22
What's broke, maybe broke, unknown
-- Problems with EGL config causing launcher wallpaper picker fail, as well as numerous user apps including Amazon Store and likely more.
-- Everest just released, waiting on radio reports.
-- Next day or two, stingray_cdma will release, we'll watch this radio as well.
-- That's all i remember, if i missed some derp, let me know and i'll add to list.
Upcoming and to-do list
-- Charge light on/off toggle (I know you guys missed that one ;D)
-- Boatloads of kernel modules!
-- Backtrack support for those who still want to use their Xoom to pwn Facebook passwords at the local Starbucks
-- Perhaps overclock by default so we get a stronger device experience out the box

A third party cam MAY work, but I'm not sure. The stingray I'm using has a deactivated Verizon sim card and I think it was being weird with gapps. I couldn't connect to Play Store. The peculiar thing is, I get a Camera fc. If something was borked with HAL i would get a "Could not connect to camera" error. Definitely worth a shot.
I have used banks gapps (minimal) Or PA gapps, and I used micro modular I think. A long as I get play store and I can download what I want I'm happy. I hate deleting tons of stock apps.
Anything for 2012 Nexus 7? I have one of those too, and dual eos would be perfect.

Glad to hear you got it compiling. I wanted to wait to get a thread open before addressing all that. So, you wanna maintain the Eos builds? :highfive::highfive::highfive:
Well, for those of you who have flashed, perhaps we should start getting an inventory of what we gotta do still? I mentioned before that as it stands now, cam is broke. Thus Torch is broke. Radio is hard to assess because i don't have a activated SIM. Also, how is the Wingray build? Has anyone successfully loaded gapps yet? If so, please post up or link to the gapps.

I'm not a developer I'm afraid as much as I'd like to be.
I can always compile, bit of debugging, test experimental fixes. not sure I'd be able to maintain though. I have basic expeience in C#, not CPP though some practices are transferable.
I used BaNkS GApps back with the original EOS because of the limited System partition.
With Big Part CM11, I'm using PA GApps. Their Google Camera add-on is working with Photosphere and such.
Will give EOS Revival a shot when I have a little work downtime
Alrighty, just to report: I am currently using a wingray device. I have just flashed the rom (no problems there), and I have just flashed the gapps from here.
So far everything's fine. I can confirm that the camera is currently not functional. However, time does wonderful things!
I do have a question though: I have noticed that the settings app doesn't sport the tablet-optimized two pane layout from previous versions of android. Is that a feature of the rom or is that a kitkat thing?
Anyways, great work! Thank you so much too all who have contributed to it (and one day I hope I can learn how to contribute myself!)

Good deal. Wingray will be the first device fully on deck. I'll link to that gapps in the OP. I also noticed we didn't get dual pane on settings. I'll see what I can do. However, I do suspect the dual pane concept as a whole is going extinct. I could be wrong but it's just a feeling I get. Camera is close. Actually, there's a small possibility it's actually audio killing cam. Not sure just yet.
Thanks for being part of the brave elite!

I've been stalking the Team EOS Gerrit and constantly refreshing the Xoom Development on here. I did run an unstable version a while ago from the Team EOS download page, and even though it was buggy, I liked it.
I think I'll wait until the camera works to flash back to EOS, though.
I like this ROM, especially the NX 2.0. Is there anyway to make an Xposed Module to add the NX 2.0 to other ROMS?

In theory, xposed can do anything. It would be VERY challenging to do a module for it. Especially when I merge http://review.teameos.org/#/c/142/

Hello friends, this is the long missed CarbonROM for the E980. I have done minor testing and it seems to work for the most part
Please submit all bugs and feel free to discuss the ROM!
Next... Paranoid Android.
I also recommend using this with E980 Kernel+
Installing
Use Mack's Lokified TWRP or PhilZ recovery
Wipe everything minus your external SD card
Install ROM
Install Gapps
Reboot
Let it sit for ~10 minutes
Reboot to recovery
Install Mack's Modem (Find it here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001604544)
Install anything else you use
Reboot
Enjoy!

Looking foward to Paranoid Android!!! I really miss it and Cyanogen has been screwing up with some of the new updates while Paranoid is getting highly rated over Cyanogenmod by many users; it would make a great addition to G Pro ROM library.

That is unfortunate since CyanogenMod makes many ROMs possible to devices. I don't like the ROM personally as it is too vanilla for me, but it deserves some very nice ratings.
But yes. It would make a great addition.

Quick question... Does anybody know anything about the built in wakelock blocker in Beanstalk? I am interested in cherry picking that and adding it as a Carbon Fiber or different system option... My battery life is abysmal without the wakelock blocker... I only have 40 percent left and have only had 1 hour and 30 minutes of screen on time. And very very little deep sleep time.

Good stuff. Maybe I'll try to pick it off the PAC github. This is a great ROM and the only piece its missing is the wakelock blocker. I'll have to try it and ask the team if they're willing to implement it into their next few builds. Unfortunately they have a small team and I'm sure they all have lives. However somebody else has accomplished this on another device, so maybe I can, too.
The battery life is a deal breaker for me though... And I don't want to give up the ROM. Time to cherry pick or find alternatives. Thank you for the info

I doubt it. Only phones owned by members of the team get official support, and in order to be a member I think you need to be a developer... I am no developer, I just know how to manipulate and modify code according to other commits and other's code. Official support, while desirable, is probably not possible. It also isn't necessary. As long as I can compile, I suppose we're okay
Plus now I can (attempt to) add wakelock blocker to the code without any talk with a team and making it configurable with all devices. Only problem with taking it off of PAC is I need to figure out what to change to make it Carbon compatible.
I love this ROM though I just need to add that wakelock blocker so I can fix the awful battery life. I hope Paranoid has the wakelock blocker built in. If not I'll probably end up doing it for that ROM too.
I have missed this build. If you need assistance with the pick let me know. Great work on rom build. Running well with v.6 kernel+. About to flash intelli test.

I plan on it. Maybe weekly updates.
Nightlies take too much time.
Like maybe one every weekend.

Try using a different SMS app? Also try getting a logcat

Good to hear! Was it the app or a system issue?

I have requested the wakelock blocker feature to the devs. I will continue to work on it for our device and see if I can get it since I'm unlikely for a response. If you wish to help me out, +1 that post for me please?

That is taken from my mobile browser so I am unsure if it will work on desktops.
