I"m on one of the GPe based ROMs (VirginRom 1.4) and that button combo doesn't work.
I am on 4.2.2 He and you hold volume down and power until you see an animation. It takes about2-3 seconds

hit the power button slightly before the vol down.
I had issues getting the timing right on my S4 (running VirginROM 2.0, now 2.1). What ended up working for me in the end was pressing both buttons (VolumeDown & Power) simultaneously.
Do a quick Google search for your phones shortcut though - I used to have an HTC One S and for some reason the screenshot shortcut on it was different from virtually every other Android phone...

For the more recent versions, holding down the power button will bring up the shutdown menu, it should be on there.

How can I take a screenshot on Galaxy S2 Wanamlite 12.3? I tried the Home+Power button but it didn't take a screenshot.
Edit: Figured it out on myself already. Must press the Home+Power button at the SAME time. Not after one second before the other button and it took a screenshot. Thanks.

That was completely wrong forum.
This thing smooth as butter though.
Please!! Does somebody knows which is the app to perform this action? I think I uninstalled it with titanium.. Now nothing happens when I try to take a screenchot :crying:
Please help me!!! This mistake is driving me crazy, I dont wanna reinstall all the stock firmware or other app Thanks!
I'm kind of an android noob, so sorry if this is a dumb question.
Is there an easier way to take screenshots? The ways I know of are swiping your hand across the screen (which doesn't work in some apps for me) or holding the spen button with the spen pressed to the screen. From what I gather these are both Samsung-only.
I've been using the Sixaxis app a lot and trying to take screenshots of various games so I can set up touch emulation profiles. It would be nice if there were just a button press combo I could do like on the iPhone.
Thanks!
Holding power + home button together (remember to hold and not just press and release) works on the i317.

It may take a few times to get the timing right each time, but just try again if you get a menu instead.

Perfect! Thanks!
Besides holding the power button down for a while, is there a shortcut similar to the stock HTC ROM shortcut (power button and home-button)?
Perhaps power and volumedown?

unfortunately, no. I have tried that already. thanks for trying though.
Power + volume down works. That's the standard AOSP way of taking a screenshot and works with all AOSP based ROMs. It's just a bit tricky sometimes. Many times volume down gets pressed first and brings up the volume slider. Make sure you press them both exactly at the same time and hold till a screenshot is taken.

my bad, you're right.
just didn't realize I needed to hold it down for about a second. not the fastest to respond, but it certainly does answer my question though.
thanks!
So from what I've read the kernels to HTC button sleep / wake do not work for Verizon =( are there any mods or apps for vzw that allow us to put our phone to sleep without reaching for the power button? I've seen the button on the quick setting but any others?

I believe there is a kernel that we can use with AOSP roms. If you look into the Mokee thread, it's in there.
If you look in the OP it's towards the bottom...I think it's called daavviskernal. Here's the link:

Incorrect. What ALL users need to do, is use the "report post" functionality, so we are notified of an issue. We cannot possibly hope to read every thread, every day, and changing the title like that is no guarantee at all that we will handle it in any timely manner.
