So I bought a LG Optimus G here in Portugal. My device is made in Korea (in another LG devices I think LG 2x, they said that Korea versions have this same problem too, and they resolve it changing the baseband to a german version):
Android 4.1.2
Software version: E97510d-EUR-XX
Baseband version: APQ8064/MDM9x15M
I buy the phone from a online shop, so I don't know if they buy the phone from a foreign country and sell it here. Is this version the appropriate for Portugal? My operator 4G band is 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz.
The problem is that when I'm on a call I hear a static noise and bad quality calls, and the other people hear it too from my part (they do not hear it when talking with other people). I already did a factory reset when I received my phone before rooting it. This same problem happened to me with my nexus 4 some weeks ago, and I ask for a refund because of this same problem. I buy this phone hopping that at least I will not have bad quality calls problems but it seems that I'm out of luck.
I tryed with 4G, 3G and 2G and in all options the bad quality is there. So what can I do, anyone knows?
Best regards,
Pedro
I could reply in Portuguese but rules are rules. I do have a LGOG and don't have any issues with voice, at least in 3G, in 4G I can't. remember if I ever made a call showing 4G (brand new in Switzerland), but I'll keep an eye on it. I did have issues detecting 4G and I had to find the solution by myself, as none of the providers did it. Now it works fine. Swiss providers operate in the 1800 band.
Also, I solved my issue with 4G, among other change, by flashing version 10F Germany (France or Italy also have version 10F as well as Portuguese TMN).
Sent from my LG-E975 using XDA Premium HD app
I found that the problem is in the operator. If I switch from 3G/4G to 2G everything works fine. So I will have to complain to operator TMN xD
Hi everyone!
Me and a colleague bought s4 minis a month or so after it was released here in Sweden. Both of us are running CM10.1 but there is a big difference. He has very good signal strength just like he had with his old phone. My signal strength is ranging from zero to decent while I also had very good signal strength with my old phone.
I checked his baseband version and he got I9195XXUAMG8 (latest baseband for many countries in mid/south/east europe) while I have I9195XXUAMH1 (latest version for the Nordic countries). My baseband version better fits the location as Sweden is a nordic country.
Both of us bought the phones in recognized, domestic shops and ran all OTA upgrades before installing CM.
My question is: could these differences in firmware affect the signal strength?
I did some research and found out that the CSC portion only contains carrier settings for data, what about the other parts?

You're right about CSC. It also affect use of KIES (I don't use it much, but is good for emergency recovery), which means you won't get updates via KIES. in your case I would suggest you to try different ROM (I9195XXUAMH2_I9195OXXAMH4_BTU). Use Odin and see if it makes any difference.
Flashed I9195XXUAMG8 baseband (latest baseband for many countries in mid/south/east europe) and my initial tests look just as bad as with the nordic baseband. However I found out that my colleague changed operator so it might just be that his operator's 4g coverage is better. I tested for a short while with 3g only and my reception was as good as with my old phone.
Will report back later for anyone who is interested...
Hi all, new here and phone ignorant.
My parents wanted new phones this past Christmas and they like Samsungs. They had Galaxy S3's and so I bought them 2 new Galaxy S9's, model SM-G960U1. They worked great out of the box. I moved over their ATT Straight Talk sims and they have had no issues. They live out in the country and these phones get great reception.
Fast forward to last week I decided to order the same for myself. The phone that arrived was a Galaxy S9 model SM-G960U. I stuck in my ATT Straight Talk SIM and at first thought everything was OK. But, then realized the phone is missing Volte, wifi calling, and gets horrible data coverage and very weak voice service in the country.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, like flash the firmware? Am I stuck with it? Should I try returning it?
Thanks!
Flash it to U1 (unlocked) as your phone currently has "U" firmware (originally carrier locked). Read this thread to see how: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/how-to-flash-u1-firmware-to-device-t3765200 . My S9 is an AT&T variant and I flashed it to The unlocked US variant and I use it on Simple Mobile. Wifi calling works, cellular data and cell signal - everything works perfectly.
I am traveling quite a bit between China and Europe and the phone works fine in Asia and when I am in Europe I am using a SIM card from Vodafone the Netherlands.
This works fine in the Netherlands but when traveling in France, Germany, Italy the roaming function does not work. No Data is received or can be transmitted.
Voice etc is fine and all roaming settings are fine too. My CSC settings show OZS_TGY.
Since the SM-N9750D/S is a Snapdragon version I am cautious with loading other firmware although it is unlocked.
Do I need to load other firmware or are the CSC codes the issue? Please help.
Due to the virus outbreak going to Hongkong is not so attractive.

Not 100% sure, but i feel like i remember that i read that you may need to enable data for Sim 2 (assuming that's where the Netherlands sim is)
Check for sim settings

Thanks for your reply,
Much appreciated.
I tried using both and switched also between Sim 1 and 2 but did not resolve the issue.
I downloaded the TGY firmware and will do a clean reinstall with ODIN. Hope that will help.
But thank you for your input.
also try manual network selection if set on automatic
Dear Raul,
I think I tried all common tricks to get the roaming going.
My idea is that it needs a different CSC code but not sure if this can still be done with ODIN?
Also Samsung feedback is vague on this,
Thank again Raul,

I am using a Dutch Vodafone Sim and Vodafone has some special arrangement with the roaming partners in the rest of Europe.
This might be in the CSC code but my phone is from Hongkong having TGY code. So not sure if this is the reason.
So when you come to Italy all might work without problems.
I could not find a way so far to change or adding CSC codes without rooting.
If some one else knows, please let me know. Would be appreciated.

Thanks but your phone seems to be exynos chipset, N9750D/S is a Snapdragon. I was told you can not use firmware of exynos and put it on a Snapdragon phone. Am I right?

UPDATE 26 JULY 2020
I am in Italy now and I inserted a Vodafone IT. The phone work fine and I noted that over here I have a 4G+ band aggregation while in USA with my ATT SIM I don't and this is really strange because with my old Note 8 ( N950F DS) I use to have band aggregation and both of the phone have the same bands! Someone can explain?
Maybe an old topic, but I just try ....
I live in the Netherlands, have a SM-G7810 ( S20 FE Snapdragon, original TGY but changed tot CHC due to I need Call-recording). SIM-card is Vodafone Netherlands.
In the Netherlands all works great, data and voice.
When I go to Germany, voice works great, but data is nor working. Ofcourse tried everything in settings.
I did not try it with another SIM-card, so I'm not sure if the issue is only the CHC/TGY original phone in combination with Vodafone, or that it is the phone in general used in Europe with any simcard and try to have data on in roaming.
Turn on roaming

Hi,
I would really appreciate if someone could help me with my LG G8.
I bought it off ebay , the phone is on T-Mobile version running Android 10 with the software version G820TM20i .
Since the phone was not available to buy in UK, i've ordered it from US .
I am using it with a EE sim card which is supposed to have the best network coverage in UK , but still the signal bar only shows 1 or 2 lines from 5 ( 5 being max strength ) .
When using the SIM card with another phone ( S10+ ) originally bought from UK I am not having any signal issues.
My question is : Could this be a problem with the stock ROM being a US version ?
I am thinking of flashing another ROM probably one from Europe or even UK, but unfortunatelly I don't know which one is the best.
Could anyone advise me ?
Thanks.
I have the same issues. Mine is a factory unlocked G820QM (US version).
Not working well in Singapore.
On the network with the best coverage just 2 bars and just UMTS.
With another network 3 bars and LTE but ... no mobile data.
Not easy getting these US phones to work overseas ...
It should be easy, i used to flash my lg g6 and lg g4 with ROMs in order to fix this kind of issues, with the help of the DEVs from here.
It's so sad that this forum is no longer that active like it used to be .
The G6 and G7 was also sold in Europe, SEA and so on. So flashing to other locations would be possible.
The G8 was only sold in the US, Korea and Canada. Still possible to flash to be able to work in the UK?
