What was wrong with bonsai masterkee unlock? Sorry if threads on this topic are against the rules (i thought only links were), so I am sorry if I broke the rules, if so a mod may delete this thread but I just want an explaination.
Did the news get around about a guy named butcher pete?
Idk but why go to another method when one-click is simple and fast

Currently the advantage of using their tool for me anyways is that I think their Recovery is > cwm 3.0.2.5 . In future updates this tool will install ROM's and will work on multiple devices is what i heard.

This probably best as a discussion in the General thread. It seems a little more lenient as long as links to a site that is free and only requires a registration to download is forbidden unless you are Android Central which also requires registration to download. But that must be different ??????
links to android central downloads are against the rules also... but discussing bonsai stuff is not. there are a few threads here. but announcing their releases here will usually get locked, since you cant link them, and they dont support them here. I havent used the unlocks yet, i downloaded them to take a look but havent had a chance, but when gingerbread comes they will have to make changes anyway.

Thanks Chris for the explanation. I guess the Android Central links are not as controversial as the Bonsai so don't get the same publicity when they are removed. Thanks again.
No Bonsai links Allowed

I know that XDA does not allow bonsaigeek links due to the fact that Bonsai requires you to register at their site to get thair code. XDA views this as against the liberties granted through the GPL license.
I do not think they allow Bonsai announcements either.
The latest posters who were shutdown were flamers, extremely critical of XDA and their policies. If you do not like XDA policies, do not sign up & post.
They should not sign up, accept the policies, and then flame XDA, basically asking for a ban.
That's my opinion anyway, FWIW.
As most of you would know unlocking phones will be illegal in the States starting tomorrow 26th Jan 2013 without permission from the carrier.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2414699,00.asp
An online petition has been started to bring back unlocking.
It would be highly appreciable if xda members can sign the same and show our support.
below is the link to the petition.
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/make-unlocking-cell-phones-legal/1g9KhZG7?utm_source=wh.gov&utm_medium=shorturl&utm_campaign=shorturl
Mods :- Please feel free to lock down or delete the thread if it is against the rules.
Edit - I am not the starter of the petition, I just found it on another website and posted it here so I cannot edit the content of the petition.
Thanks

Lol shady. But if anyone is stupid enough to donate on a site that not XDA and linked in your profile these are the dumb dumbs that need a smack to the head. Common sense is all that is needed to know that site is fake.
TWEAKED N3
I don't see anywhere on the site to donate or pay for anything. The download link goes straight to the download page. Unless the ZIP is password protected or something?:silly:
announcement made, information passed...thread closing to keep trolls out...

This is a paid for app - you will not find anyone on XDA supplying you with a pirated copy of it.....
We do not allow warez:

Hello,
I have a question regarding the Pling.com if is allowed in XDA or not. According to rule XDA Rule 13 Pay-Per-Click links does not allowed, and that's true till Monday which I reported a thread for link there.
The moderator removed the thread from public view but few hours later it was back and today I got a notification that XDA is now allow Pling.com as File Host. I have nothing against the moderator but I want to be sure if it's allowed or not since I cannot find anywhere this change which XDA announces that pling.com is allowed.
Thanks.

Edit: Yes, Pling is permitted, I'm not sure we have a public thread available, but an announcement was made to the staff.

Thanks for the clarification.

My mistake, that thread was presented to the RD's as a source of opinion.
To answer your question: Yes, Pling is an approved file host. At some point I imagine we will have a public announcement.

Hello and good morning.
From your screenshots I see that @Funk Wizard was the acting moderator. What occured was that during the handling of the first report, the decision about pling.com was still under discussion in the responsible moderators body and as such pending, although all moderators were already aware that such a discussion was ongoing.
Then the discussion was finally made yesterday and announced to all moderators; the reason why the next, new report was now handled as done by Funk.

Just for your information: I've removed the link from the quotation in your post because it referred to a forum with limited access.

Hello Oswald,
Yes, this is what I imagined after the clarification of V0latyle.
Nothing against the moderator Funk. I just wanted to be sure because I maintain a collection & guides thread (like this) and some ROMs / Kernels are hosted there, so I can include them.
Thanks for your time looking at this and for the detailed explanation.

I'm fully aware that you didn't complain about @Funk Wizard and I'm convinced nobody read it that way. Actually, anything different had wondered me because Funk was perfectly correct with all his action.
And affirmative, at your own discretion you can certainly now add links to pling.com to your repo's, collections or guides. We highly appreciate that you keep them up to speed.

Pling now accepted on XDA. Does that mean it's no longer considered as a Pay-Per-Click link.

Affirmative, we now accept it as a filehost on XDA. If you go to opendesktop.org payout terms & conditions it's a paid-per-download site, and we're well aware. We discussed it lengthly, under consideration of multiple aspects and feedback from our recognised developers.
