I have never used Titanium Backup before for actual backups of apps. I have used it only to wipe cache data for gmail when the system was dumb and said none was in use.
So here's my dumb question: Titanium backup can backup apps prior to a full factory reset, including dalvik cache, and then restore those apps and their settings after a new ROM is installed, including having the market be aware that said apps are installed (for updating purposes and such)?
Are there any special settings or hangups to be aware of?
[email protected] question but if you have problems click menu then preferences or settings, forgot which, but scroll down to the bottom it'll say if you're haviing problems etc.. click or touch that and click indirect android installer or whatever and when you go to restore apps click restore then app only and then once you've installed the app then go back to the app in titanium back up and click restore then data only..
I had a problem with TB only on ics where I had to do this

I am going from an EI22 ROM to an FC09 ROM (people's rom v2). So far I've only backed up user apps, should (or could) I use the 'backup system and user apps' or just stick with user apps?

U can backup apps and data. And then restore them on ur next rom. But if u change partition formats such as from bml to mtd, u have to make sure u do not restore system apps. Other wise u r ok

It is never a good idea to restore system stuff but it does not matter MTD or BML...it is the same apps just on a different partition...thing FAT32 and NTFS...programs don't care which you use.

Hope this helps..what I do is use "App Monster PRO". As you download apps....it back them up automatically. But it has to be the "pro" version. The free one s*cks. Go to 4shared.com in the search bar enter " app monster apk". Then download the 2.0 version. Good luck.

Hi,
I rooted my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc which was on ICS OS. Before rooting I used the SE Back and Restore application to take my backup. After the root was completed, I copied the apk file for the same from my PC to the root SD folder (also tried updating the build.prop file and deskclock.apk as was mentioned in some other forum).
Now when I try to install the backup and restore apk file, it just doesnot install. Screenshot attached. I really need help in restoring all my data.

Flash back to v2.3 Gingerbread, restore all your data, root, install CWM, run a Nandroid backup.
Upgrade to ICS, restore.
Or use third party programs:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync
If you have root install titanium backup this will back up and restore from a back up.
This feature is available in pro version not sure if available in free version.

You will have to find an Xperia Phone running Stock 2.3 firmware.
Then you can use your backup and restore the contacts to the phone.
Sync the contacts with Google and Voila!
Let me know if it works!!

use TWRP recovery. from there, when you go to RESTORE, you can choose to restore only DATA or BOOT or SYSTEM.... you wipe everything, flash your desired rom, then go to recovery (be sure to backup your old rom first) and from there you go to restore - data. done!

Is there a way to do that with CWM? Or with ROM manager or another software instead of me having to download and install TWRP? What happens if I flash twrp while I already have cwm? Will I end up with two recoveries? Or how will that work?

Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with Nandroid backup and restore.
After flashing ARHD 17.1 from 17.0 without wiping, everytime I make a backup it says that there was an error backing up /system and when I you try to restore it, it says MD5 mismatch.
The latest backup that I was able to use was using the backup before I flashed 17.1.
Is there any way I could fix this without wiping? I'm on a vacation right now and don't have a computer handy.
Hope you can help me out! Thanks and advance happy new year!

Its always advisable to wipe data and cache b4 flashing the old backup or a new rom...its always good and prevents many issues...!!
U need a computer to solve the md5 sum mismatch error....after that if your backup is genuine (without problems) then it ll surely work..just some commands to execute...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Scroll through the first post and you will find the proper commands..!!
Cheers..!!
Thanks! Will try that when I return home from vacation.
I just read from the ARHD forum that you can flash without wiping if coming from another version.
How about my apps and their data? I not really sure if everything's backed up. How can I make sure?

You can backup the apps and their data by using titanium backup from the playstore..! i guess thats your best bet as you dont have computer handy...!! make backup by titanium backup and then upload the backup to some good cloud sharing sites and when your problem gets solved you can restore that backup..!!
:good:

Hmm, if you rename the backup with spaces, you'll get an md5 mismatch during restore, but no idea why you get one during backup.

That's what have heppened to me, MD5 mismatch, but after removing spaces from the name of the backup I was able to restore it.
Where does Nandroid save the backups? I might have to check.
Also, how do I use titanium backup? I don't know what option to select.
Hope you can help me out.

Just go to backup/restore (middle tab)
Then tap on the icon in upper right-hand corner, then you can select e.g. backup all user apps + system data.
Restore in the same manner. :good:
Thanks! So that's how you back things up! I was just running the 2 items under schedule and I'm not sure if that's it.
Thanks again and happy new year!

Hey guys,
I'm about to flash my first rom and so far I made a System Data and User App backup using Tintanium.
Now I read somewhere that for Samsungs we need to backup IMEI info as well...Does Titanium do that?
Thanks!

You could backup/restore the efs folder with TWRP or CWM. There's a how to thread somewhere around here.
