When I contacted Samsung that when will the release 4.0.4 for Saudi arabian (yakjujp) GNex... they said " Please be advsied that although it is Samsung who made it, the Galaxy Nexus is a Google phone and thus its updates are not from Samsung but must come from Google itself."

Not to sound like a **** or anything, but the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit would easily allow you to unlock the bootloader and flash Google's stock factory image for 4.0.4. Much easier than waiting for it OTA...

Couldn't agree more on switching-to-yakju part. I don't like tookits.
A few fastboot commands and you're up running the latest yakju.
That...is kind of correct though....

Samsung are the ones to handle their own specific versions of ICS for the Galaxy Nexus.
Google manages in no way the various yakjuXX (where XX defines a region number) releases.

Why would you believe a tech rep to have any clue about this? Of course they are going to give out wrong info.
Its like the people who actually believe what a Verizon sales person says. They just work it as a job making $11 an hour in high school. How would they know anything or care.

I don't think that's fair. They could've chosen anyone and yet they still chose Samsung. Must've done it for a reason, right?

Why's that?, it cant always be a samsung, htc was already done, LG and Sony i doubt it and other brands are unlikely
So that leaves motorola or samsung again

Cause google seems to like putting the nexus in the most popular platform
But i thought the would use motorola just for a change of pace, and it seems easier for them

Which one should I go with? I know that there are similar threads but now since S2 has ICS, is it still worth going with the nexus? Please help
Nexus of course. Fast update and nexus have 4.1.1 and its soooo smooth :good:
Go with the nexus: better screen, UPDATES, great processor, amazing dev community, no TouchWiz, and no contract.

Yeah, but is it worth the sacrifice of the better hardware on the S2?

No hard feelings at all but continue this discussion in this existing thread...

Jelly bean was all about buttery smooth animation, when was that conference last year? Have we got to wait ages for another conference,?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Just like project butter, there was a rumor of a Project Roadrunner to optimize battery life. Personally the only things that I looking for is that and a more unified and polished looking OS in terms of design language, colors used etc.
Android is moving in the right direction. They have the momentum. All they need to do is 'dumb' it down a bit and make it 'prettier'. To have some of that 'android is for geeks only' nonsense banished. Maybe have like a BASIC MODE for new users.
I agree that Samsung should not be the company that knows when the release will be available, i think it is Google as they are the developers of Android, so it gets back to Google then not Samsung as they are just a hardware manufacturing partner (one in many, like LG & Sony)
Dont worry about features, Google will come up with surprises, have patience, and enjoy your phone

It's still to early to talk about this..
We'll probably hear about it at Googo I/O in June, with it launching in July with the Nexus 7 2.0.
So, you can expect it to launch for the Note II around December or January/2014.
The only thing I expect from Samsung is to make a iTunes for Android.
However poor might be apple might be in any terms, no one can deny that iTunes is awesome. You can backup easily, restore easily. If these features get unified into kies, I don't think much would be left to complain except for root in Stock rom
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Obviously note 3 will have key lime pie, just very exciting to think of what we will have for the future, and where will the new features be, an example would be the multi screen view, that wasn't even announced at the conference, or the note 2 event, yet it is fantastic,

Depends, if Note 3 is already in the works - obviously they will include 4.2.1 first, as there is no 4.3/5.0 available while the manufacturing process is undergoing. One thing is certain though, both Note 2 and Note will get KLP.

Its rubbish for synchronizing, limited options and lags on older computers. There are far better programs available, I use MobileGo and it works like a charm.

Is it worth it? Which would be better? Nexus 4 or Note II?
If you don't care about having the latest version of android I say note II. if money and updates are a concern then Nexus 4 cannot be beaten. Galaxy Nexus is still very capable though.

Maybe go for the note ii, but i wouldn't swap it for the nexus 4 with no removable battery or lte radio
If I were to choose right now I would go with note ii, the battery life, bigger screen and LTE are all pluses. Although I'm waiting until s4/note3
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Since i am mostly on wifi, i don't care about lte. Software updates, unlock-ability, and the dev community would tip the scales toward the nexus 4 if i was in the market.

I have a work galaxy Nexus which was my primary phone. My personal phone was a iphone 4. I dropped the iphone and got a note 2. I'm a flashaholic who spent many of days flashing a new rom on my Nexus. I always said I'd never get anything other than a Nexus.
I'm in love with my note 2. I barely ever pick up my Nexus unless I need to answer the phone or use it for tethering.
Just fyi the note 2 has a Huge dev community. Tw roms and aosp roms are dropped on a daily basis..
I can't speak for the Nexus 4 but you can't go wrong with the note 2.

Software updates are nice but they don't make up for features that are missing or of lesser quality (camera, battery).

I say its not worth it. The GNex isn't that out of date hardware wise and definitely not software wise. I personally wouldn't as there isn't much the 2 phones can do that the GNex can't. Cheers.

Besides the fact that it's not worth it, a bigger screen isn't always a plus - if you want to use it as a phone...I don't like holding my phone with two hands :/
Hey guys, wondering if anyone ported the camera from note 2. The one where it takes like 5 pictures in burst mode and you can choose the best faces for everyone incase someone blinks.

Correct, the Touchwiz apps need The touchwiz framework in the build.prop and from everything ive read before the hassle to port and code that stuff wouldnt even be remotely worth it.
yup..same thing with sense camera..it needs its framework...
