Hey guys,
Anyone know if there's a port for the messaging app from the Samsung galaxy s3? The one that calls when you put the phone to your ear.

Well the phone isn't even on sale yet, and when it is, it'll still take quite a while to port, if even possible. As nice as it'd be, I can't see it happening. Maybe cyanogen could add that in the future.

No there are a lot of other threads about TouchWiz features. It requires a full TouchWiz port and the ROM isn't out.

That sounds like a pocket dial waiting to happen.
All the smart people out "dev's" Please no one who has never built a ROM 'with all do respect". Do you think HTC ONE camera app will be able to be ported? Or is there a camera barrier that would not even be able to snap 20 photos in 30 seconds or shoot pics while recording? I know the US version HTC ONE has a separate processor, so just curious?
No offense, but this question has already been asked and answered. The answer is a definite no, with the reason being the disparate hardware, as you have surmised.

And the stock Camera app can take pictures while recording...

What features can we possibility get from the Samsung Galaxy 4 on the Note 2? I know we cant get infrared. Maybe dual camera or dual recording from a custom rom.

Obviously not anything hardware dependent like infrared but dual camera, S-Translator, airview with your finger, eye scrolling and all that neat stuff.

Air view with finger may be hardware. The way Sony did touchless touchscreen was with a super sensitive capacitive matrix so samsung may have done something similar.
I have no idea how they did it, just trying to ensure expectations are realistic lol.

Ir blaster

I believe the air view is dependant on the ir blaster.
sent via note 2 in boss mode @ quad core 2 ghz
Maybe it's just me but I don't see much of a need for Air View with the finger since we have that with the S Pen. I just think it would make more sense on the S series devices instead of the Note devices.

Doubt that. The ir blaster is located at the top of the phone (along side the 3.5 mm headphone jack). Unless there's another one along side the standard sensors on the face of the phone.
Anyway, a "feature" I'd like to see ported is 4.2.2. I can't wait to get my hands on that project butter.
Also, the camera, music player, photo gallery and video gallery all seem prime for porting.
A feature I don't want ported is that crazy settings menu with tabs and settings all over the place like some kind of settings-bomb went of and blew settings-pieces all over the place.

I thought butter came with 4.1 and above
The settings on the S4 is plain ugly, it's scattered all over the place, I really hope the note doesn't get that

Yes, I'm interested in these features in the S.G. S4, and I wish to be able to use them on my note2.
Even if one of our gorgeous developers can extract these features as an application.
Regards.
The camera pic are nicely sharp and awesome looking.
I see the Panaroma feature but do not see the 360 feature (that is available on the Nexus 4 JB camera). Is that hidden somewhere on this S4?
that feature is a nexus 4 exclusive.

I saw online videos where there was a 360 camera mood, maybe on international version only?

This is a standard 4.2.2 feature, as I have had it on my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. Samsung decided to leave this out.

Ok. So maybe if someone can extract that camera apk from N4, 7, or 10 as camera2 so we can run it also on our phone whenever we want to to take 360 while camera apk is remain samsung stock. I wonder if that will work.
Samsung left it out for a reason, they made their own version of the 360 pic it's called orb and it's coming to the s4 later on.

Might just be asking a daft question here but I read that the Google edition s4 can get the app. Whats the likelihood that we would see it for our nexus 4?

I do not think it will work, it works on the S4 GE but do not forget that the software goes by Samsung not Google, so I think they tweaked it in a way to improve the phone. For example the photo quality are identical although Google use different algorithms compared to Samsung which is the reason for the mediocre photo quality of the N4.
Yeah GE versions of the devices still contain the OEM framework files and drivers. This is why the OEM are doing the updates and not google.
