SDS problem for Note 8? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

On many occasions, I picked up my Note 8 to realise that it's dead. I have to press and hold the power button to physically reboot it. I have already uninstalled almost all my 3P programs but the problem is still there. Anyone experiencing the same or know why?
Mine is the 5102 LTE version.

I have had my note 8 for a while and I haven't encountered this problem yet. Perhaps a battery problem? No idea though, sorry.

[Q] Can someone confirm about video playback - black crush is eliminated on Note II?

I am seriously considering buying the Note II within the next few weeks.
But want to verify if the black clipping crush issue which was plaguing the original note is not happening on the new one.
seems like we have this issue on S III as well,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745279
can someone confirm otherwise ?
Mine is the uk version and can confirm that the black crush problem is NO longer there...

[Q] Is your Nexus 7 little bit slow?

Hi, I bought my device recently from local store. I do have some multitouch issues (even single touch) so I'll probably be swapping for new one, hoping for good luck. But before that I have another concern, overall opening apps, switching in between and going to homescreen feels quite.. slow. Especially default youtube app takes almost 2 sec to open.
Is this normal for all devices?
Sounds like you may have a faulty device. I've never noticed my Nexus 7 to be slow in comparison to my Note 8, iPad 3 and other devices. (the iPad 3 IS slow though!) However YouTube does open slower than any other app I tried. Seems like a full second before it opens.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah YouTube does take a second or two to open. But other apps are fine for me. If it's slow for other apps you have than that's not normal.

Yeah it's bit slow for other apps too, but what I care about the most is going to home screen and switching between apps, the lag there is pretty annoying and I didnt see it in reviews I checked. Considering the hardware I thought this stuff should be immediate.

If you upload a video of what you are experiencing we could compare speed to our devices. That way you can decide to return it or exchange it. You should not keep it if you find it annoying. The only question is whether you should exchange it for a correctly working tablet or return it because you need a different device altogether. (Though I've tried many tablets and haven't had one that feels faster to me.)

Mine was definitely a little sluggish too, my points of comparison were a Tab 3 8.0 and an HTC One phone. I was frustrated with the device between that and the multitouch bugs made it unusable in landscape mode. I ultimately rooted it, updated to the Q release, and put CleanROM on it and it's significantly faster and runs like I expected it to stock. Not everyone wants to root, but if you're up for it that should fix your issues I bet.

Aah should've done so, already returned it and got my money back. Leaving country for school, so I'll try to buy it there, I don't trust stores around here, this was actually already a second Nexus 7. If nothing else, multitouch issues were on both devices.

been away from Android a while, question note 2

Got the opportunity to swap my Iphone 5 for a galaxy Note 2, have owned a note 2 briefly before, but been using iphones for so long I thought id pop into PCworld and have a play on a note 2 again...alas it was terribly laggy, love the screen, a bit lower res than some of the new beasts out there, but still looks fine, quite fancy doing the trade, only the lag on the tester device was awful, could there have been something wrong with it, im not compare Ios with android, so lets not start that game, just would like to know if the device suffers like some of the older android devices
No man note 2 is ligtning fast its not old device lol.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Shouldn't be laggy at all. Do a factory reset and see if that helps. I am over 90% sure that t will.
the Note 2 is lightning fast in my experience IF the software is up-to-date (the original firmware was a bit laggy for me but that lag disappeared with 4.1.2.
Could also be a device on display with people playing around and no reboot in weeks of course....
Depends on when you experience lag. In general, there shouldn't be any. There is however a slight input lag, and some of the touchwiz apps aren't well optimised at all, ie s note.
Actions like opening the dialer, gallery or contacts might not be instant (about the only thing that was actually better with gingerbread...), these also depend on the size of your database, meaning amount of contacts and pictures for instance.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
No lag on mine either, just got it back from Samsung after a screen repair.
Of course, if you go back to your iphone and update to iOS 7 it'll feel a lot more android-y than ever before. My wife has an iPhone 5, I have a Note 2. I can't even read her screen it's so tiny but my phone is certainly not slow or laggy compared to hers.

well if u are stock get a factory reset, or wipe data ,cache and dalvik see if it solves .
Fear that if u have a original one and not 100% clone
Theres a small lag pressing home due to a wait period to see if you are double tapping to get svoice up. I think this can be disabled though.

Correct and yes it can.
There should be no lag on a note 2.

Did anyone actually bother to read the OP?
He tried a Note 2 in PC World - that's the store demo unit. Mauled by hundreds of people each day.
That it lags is not surprising, it's amazing that it runs at all.
OP - store demo units tend to get interfered with by all the potential customers who start all the programs and then walk off. You cannot judge a unit based on an in-store one.
Agreed and lije the op asked.
No this device is not like other older Android devices it doesn't suffer from lag.

Do all Nexus 7 2013 have touch screen problems?

I won a Nexus 7 through the Kit Kat competition, and am unsure whether or not I should keep it or sell it...
Do 100% flawless units exist, or is it the entire product line affected?
Keep it. I love mine and I have no touch screen issues.
They don't, have had mine (without a single issue) for three months now.

Mine haven't had any touchscreen problem since JSS15Q. You can always return your tablet for another one through Google or ASUS if you encounter touchscreen problems.
No touchscreen problems on my end.

X2. Using 4.4.2, KOT49H, no issues.
Mine is JSS15J model and I get the odd missed touch when it's flat.
I have had mine since August 2013, no issues at all
I got mine after Christmas and I am experiencing minor touchscreen issues, sometimes it feels not responsive enough or it doesn't register. It's so minor though that I'm not sure I'd have to return it. Are there any fixes someone can recommend that might resolve these issues?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes I had the same issue this morning, brand new, Android 4.4.2 build number KOT49H. I had to press the letters multiple times to get a character on the screen. It was because the tablet was not connected to the USB and was resting on the bed next to me. I think it is safe to assume it happens to ALL tablets, it is just that many people have not realised yet or have not tried to type while the tablet is resting on the bed/couch/table etc.
Now that you mention it, I do notice touchscreen responsiveness is not a great when the tablet is resting.

well, mine is 32 GB (no LTE) manufactured at 10/2013 and when I hold it in portrait mode (camera on top) it got 0,5 cm bar from top and 0,5cm bar from right side of the screen with some issues - the touch is not accurate , it shakes a little bit when I hold it (checekd with couple of multi-touch test apps). Additionally at some point/area below the center of the screen (portrait mode) I get sometimes "double press" issues. I`ve sent it to repair to asus and now waiting - they`ve just updated my status to "waiting for spare parts" ...
I couldn`t live with knowing that my brand-new nexus 7 is with any flaw .

Buying new nexus 7.. Need help..

Friends I have decided to buy 32gb Wifi model. I have been reading reviews around the net and found that the tablet has touch screen issues due to some earthing problem.
My question is that is this true for the initial batches of the tablet only or for all? My Indian friends hopefully could shed some light on this. How many of you are facing the touch screen problem and to what extent?
I was all very excited to get this tablet guys. I was hoping to get it by next week but this touch screen issue is making me have second thoughts.
Also is this best android gaming tablet? Or is there something more powerful than this around the market?
Please feel free to give your suggestions. Waiting eagerly for your responses. Thanks in advance.

There have been some issues but mine 16 version never had a touchscreen problems. It was from one of the earliest lots.
Also, you can play all the latest games on it without issues.

Thanks for the quick reply..
What do u mean by 16 version.?
I was earlier thinking of going for the Wifi+3g model but then decided against it. I will always have my phone with me and I turn on Wifi hotspot to access net in my tablet. Also Wifi version will get better battery life I suppose.

I got my Nexus in April, after quite a few had already been sold.
Out of the box, mine had touch screen issues... multiple responses to a single key touch as well as some unresponsiveness. After doing a Google search, a factory reset fixed most of the issues. I'm left with some occasional unresponsiveness.
For me it's an occasional annoyance. I've found after 30 plus years of playing with computer devices, they all have minor annoyances. Overall, I am quite impressed with the device.

I of course meant Nexus 7, and not Nexus 5, but yeah this tablet hasn't missed a beat so far
I've had my 32GB N7 (2013) WiFi model since January (got a GREAT deal from Staples for only $170 brand new). This tablet has been no less than perfect for me. No issues whatsoever. Can't beat the bang to buck ratio you get with this device.

But the Google I/0 is at the end of this month.. Also it will take at least another one month for Google to launch It here in India.. With the fact that initial batches invariably has some problems..
Also isn't this tablet capable of doing almost anything. I know faster and better processors are being released but is there any app or game in android which utilises so much power?
From what I have read the only drawback this tablet has is with the camera and feeble loudspeakers.
Performance wise it's pretty good.. Isn't it?

Got my 16GB version today and I'm nothing short of delighted, been brilliant and a world apart from the first gen Nexus 7's, no problems at all.
My nexus gets heated at the back in 10- 15 minutes of normal usage ..is it normal or is there something wrong ? Its not that it becomes unbearable or makes it difficult to hold the device but its just enough to make you notice .. If anyone could help ???
