Hi all,
I just purchased a new Glide (i927) imported to NZ (the at&t version), but cannot upgrade from Gingerbread to ICS.
Tried this:
1. Factory reset
2. Install kies
3. Connect phone, kies shows Current firmware version: PDA:KL1 / PHONE:KL1 / CSC:KL1 (XXX)
No update popup?
Then disconnected phone, tried Tools > Firmware upgrade and initialization > Model name = SGH-I927, and then enter serial number, but nothing.
How can I update to the official ICS?
Would I drop kies and use Odin instead?
Thanks

Yes I followed the guide, and tried the USB cable that was included.
Tried uninstalling Kies, re-installed.
Now the error shows:
Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.

Interesting that the firmware has 'XXX' in it??

Are your drivers installed correctly?
Ugh...
You have ATT, which I know is supported...
Have you flashed anything onto it?
The EFS could be screwed... But, I doubt that, unless you flashed some things onto it...
Anyways, I think if you just download the Official ATT ICS update, you could easily flash the MD5 sum and install it with Odin

I haven't flashed anything onto it, unless the seller did something with it while importing it?
Is there any way to tell, or get it back to stock standard so kies work?
Otherwise where can I download the official ATT ICS update?
Thanks
Honestly, I looked, and I couldn't find the damn update ANYWHERE. I'm sure some very long internet searching could accomplish it, and I'll do what I can.
I doubt that the seller flashed anything onto it, unless you bought it used.

Sorry, due to teh limitations on my new account on here, I can't post very quickly, they think I'm spamming...
I purchased a new captivate glide from a seller in HK via ebay. It is ATT branded and had not been updated to ICS. When I first switched it on, it asked me if I wanted to update and then proceeded to download some file but crashed during update installation. After that I could not update it and Kies also gave the same message "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies. Current firmware version: PDA:KL1 / PHONE:KL1 / CSC:KL1 (XXX)". After wasting a lot of time uninstalling and reinstalling Kies, I gave up on that option. I finally found via google the correct ATT ICS firmware (SGH-I927_ATT_I927UCLH2_I927ATTLH2_Original) and used ODIN to flash it. The phone now shows the updated Android 4.0.4. I tried to root the phone but it froze and I had to flash the ROM again. I saw sometimes the message 'Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped'. I wiped the cache using CWM and reflashed the ROM and that solved the issue. Everything seems to be running smoothly now.

Try Sam Firmware site.
Doesn't look like they've got the exact firmware but you might be happy with something else under the "Asia" group of firmware.
You will need Odin to flash this. Instructions are on the website. And you will need to create a login (simple, nothing much requested to create a profile).
Could someone provide modem file for this firmware???
Ok will definitely try it. Too bad it's not JPO, tho. So after flashing this, is it ok to put in an optimized kernel and stuff?
I got the phone up and running altlast yay... but via recovery mode.. still very eager to upgrade... but with this NZ version if possible
Have you got any way of posting the rom? I have tried upgrading via the keis registry hack and it tells me that the original jj1 is not ready for upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated. I am on the Telecom network.
Cheers.
Be great if the modem from the TNZ could be extracted!
For ROM downloading, try this guy here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000...41/samsung-mobile-firmware-queries-downloads/
I think he's ok. I once sent him 6 euros for a query and a download request and he returned them right back, because my specific ROM wasn't available.
Thanks for the link mate
I'm watching this one as well. After bricking my I9000T already trying to get to 2.2 I'm ikely to try this soon (when I get it back). Not game to do it on the wifes phone
Do we know if this is official TNZ branded firmware, or generic/unbranded?
@all, will this get the official froyo on my 850 next g telstra(australia) I9000T? and can you plzz tellme how to upgrade with kies hack? sorry im a noob, plzz help me out..id be greatful. cheers
Open up 'regedit' and go to the 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB' key. Then delete all the keys below it (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...).
Then open Kies and connect your phone so that it is detected by Kies.
Close Kies and run the EXE that you download for the Registry Patcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628).
You should get a prompt to set the patch to 'True', select your sales code (not sure what Telstra is sorry), the current versions you want to report etc.
I haven't gone any further than that personally as I don't have 'my' phone back and the risk of problems from doing the wife's is just too frighting LOL.

I'm with Telstra (GT-9000T) and I flashed this with Kies and the reg patcher. Works well, 850 band still there had to put the Telstra info back in for MMS and Internet.
This had a "telecom" splash on start up and two apps from the the same brand. Still much better then the 26 Telstra puts on.
Hope this helps.

Guessing the two apps were 'Y!X TWorld' and 'Your Telecom'? That is pretty much the Telecom customised firmware then. While I hate customised firmware I'm pretty keen to get to 2.2 so perhaps the wife's phone will succumb afterall

And Flash Player .
I was really surprised when I got the phone home a few weeks ago that I couldn't immediately update to 2.2, seeing is it has been out for months and all. I guess that's one of the annoying things about each hardware manufacturing trying to put their personal touch on things. Might look at the Nexus S for this reason a bit later...

It is a sprint package. My focus is recovery with UnBrickable mod. This is part of a system of recovery for use with Linux where a device which wont boot needs a firmware flash from temporarily uploaded bootloaders.
I'll get a vzw package up. I totally forgot about carrier branding.
Yeah this will be great for VZW. I was thinking of selling mine and returning it to stock but when I tried it said baseband was EI04 but it was android version 2.2??!??? will your method, when u post it, take us back to stock 2.3.5 EI04?

I'm uploading DJ11 right now, this is a 2.2 build.
tried this tonight on VZW tab - flash goes fine - when I try activation bypass with volume up/down, it works initially, then lets me proceed with setup, but when setup is done and get prompt that galaxy tab is ready to use, it takes me back to the "welcome to SCH-I800" screen (which I've never seen on any ROM - can't remember if it was there when I first got the tab stock and set it up) - when I touch the android, it takes me back to activation screen, but activation bypass will not work this time - perhaps some remnants of your Sprint files still there? Have reflashed three times, same result - I don't know - so close to working - I'm trying to get back to stock DJ11 so I can update to stock 2.3.5 - anyone else having this problem?

They're two different packages. Different kernels ROMs and Params and cache. You're experiencing a stock ROM which requires activation.

Understood that it's stock - but even on out of the box, totally stock tabs the bypass trick works - something weird about they way it will take you through the setup process perfectly, only to bring you back to the android screen, which you do not see initially - I don't use a data plan, just wi-fi - you've done such a great job here, so close - is there any workaround?
If only this could restore modem... I would've named it the holy grail of Galaxy Tab.
I've released information on creating your own Heimdall one-Click here: [Release] Heimdall One-Click - ROM Packaging and Distribution System
I know this is an old thread but I need some assistance from whoever can provide it. I am trying to return my Sprint tab to stock with the one click but I am having a hard time.
I try to do it, but I am constantly running into walls.
I try to flash but it gets stuck on the last step where it says that it has to reboot the tab. then the one click screen says disconnected. And the computer says that it found new hardware. The tab stays looping at the samsung screen.
What should I do to get out of this?
I feel your pain! I wound up bootlooping my Sprint Tab yesterday.
I didn't see this thread, so I don't have any experience with this particular tool. However, I did manage to recover my Sprint through information I found on the forums.
You should still be able to put it back into download mode. Then using Odin/Heimdall, you can flash it back to stock with the stuff found in this post: Stock Odin/Heimdall Files: Stock EF17 Tar
Also, the [SPRINT][CDMA]Galaxy Tab (SPH-P100) Mega Development Starter Thread (CWM, EF17 TAR) thread was pretty helpful too.
Hope this gets you headed in the right direction, I haven't done much flashing with my tablet and the information above wound up helping me out.
Please Reupload Stock Firmware
Hey wondering if anybody still has the one click file for sprint sph p100
I can't find any good download links for sph p100 seems like they are too old.
Thanks

Ive also been looking to root my galaxy sgh s730m since the day i got it , but havent had much success at all
i did happen to find an unlock for 21.99$ it works great , but would love to have this phone rooted !!! ive tried the process of the ICS Root (Binary) but it failed and did not work , so i guess were stuck for a bit
I've actually used Kijiji today and found someone who said they can root the phone. The they are charging $25.00 I will get it done over the weekend and post back to let you know how all is. I'm gonna try to ask him what program or softwares he used to root this phone
Sent from my SGH-S730M using xda app-developers app
The kernal in my Samsung Galaxy Discover has the last 3 characters listed as "LJ5". A kernal similar to LJ5 which works in a Samsung phone under the ICS enviromnment ma y work.
Has anyone tried the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 method yet? This file which works in Samsung Galaxy S2 and other phones rquires no flashing of kernal.
There are several sites which claim to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Discover with prices ranging from $7.29 to $14.99 to $20. But it would be more challenging to root the phone and have superuser privilege to do changes.
I tried that one as well and got a mounting error
Did the mounting error occur before or after you run "runme.bat" ?

Well i wanted to bring my phone in to get rooted on saturday , but friday night the phone had turned off and wouldnt turn back on again , i have no idea what happened so i returned it to the store and got a different phone , i am done with android for the time being because it seems everytime i get an android it bricks itself or there is some sort of problem with it ,
i will be buying a samsung galaxy s2 though in the next few weeks , im sure that will be easy to root !
so as for me getting the phone rooted , that isnt going to happen unless i do come up with a way to get the discover again , but probally wont be buying it ...
Sorry for the inconvienice
Here is a mobile odin log I got.
But now the phone is unusable, wrong kernel or ramdisk I don't know (touchscreen problem)
Has anyone made progress with this? This phone is hurtin' and needs root...if not then a hammer...

well I ran two different versions Polaroid all in one 1.6 and 2.0 and they both seem to work fine with loading up and recognizing the phone however 2.0 said the phone was already rooted when it wasn't, there wasn't much I could do as seen in the screen shot below

I then tried 1.6 and that loaded up as well and asked if I wanted to root or root with google apps and framework so I choose just root it and it asked me to restore and rebooted just fine and said I wasn't rooted, so I'm a little confused. another screen shot below
also I should note that I am a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff, so I may have done something wrong or missed something

Thanks for the tip! I tried it out but I got stuck at the waiting for phone to connect part. I'm sure I could get further, but I've lost all patience for this handset.
Rather than pull my hair out trying to fix this broken out of the box value phone, I returned it to the store for something a little more user (and battery) friendly.
Great can you upload a dump somewhere please, I bricked mine trying many ways and there are no stock rom anywhere.

It's great to hear that you have rooted successfully the SGH-S730M. For me, I have bricked mine. It is appreciated if your can share the boot, recovery and partition image of your phone to us so that we can repair the brick.
It is fairly easy to backup your ROM:
1. Download and install ROM Manager from Google Play (the free version works great).
2. Run the program and click on "Backup Current ROM" and click OK - remember to have your external Sdcard inserted to have more space for the backup. By default the file name of the backup which will be created is your current date.
3. Look for the folder "clockworkmod" in the sdcard, in there you will find the folder backup, then in that folder you see a sub-folder with all backup files.
For me, I need the file "recovery.img" so that I can restore my blicked recovery of my Galaxy Discover.
Looking forward to hear from you the soonest.
Pls mail me the file to [email protected] or give the link so that I can download
Thank you in advance.

Sorry, folks. Been working on it for almost 6 hours with both romdump and ROM Manager. ROM manager cannot backup because "phone is unsupported". With romdump I am having "segmentation fault".

i have the same problem bro
but my CX100 is now deadboot that`s why im looking for firmware or full back up of its rom that flashable in sp flash tool
Oh! I think the cherry mobile OTA has an error on sending the said update OTA. I am still looking for a stock rom online but seems i cannot find one. Hays! This caused me incovenience bcoz i dont have any backup fone that can be used for my two other networks.
i read in one of the responses where i posted this similar request that the reason why we are encountering this issue is that we rooted the phone and updated the same OTA. so most likely it corrupted the system and put our phone in a deadboot scenario.
did you find a workaround on this concern? i hope that the XDA team can help us with this.
Same problem here
Up for this.i just bought one from lazada and i got stuck on splash screen.they say it was bootlooped,i just wreck my one day old phone just because of the update.may i add some suggestion?.can you make the cwm recovery flashable thru stock recovery?.
Up for this.I hope one of the devs can see this.

New guy here... I'm also experiencing the same issue as yours, I always thought MAC addresses are a static type of address. I'm also experiencing fast battery drain issues in this device, it's like for every 1 minute battery goes down by a percent! I'm using Battery Log app.
I'm also quite wondering why there is no back light on the capacitive buttons ?

Thanks..

Same here. I installed the wirelass update and it's stuck sa bootloop/recovery. Most likely since I applied updates when I didn't realize that my phone was on low battery.. Now it's just showing the battery icon when plugged in but does not seem to be charging at all. Animation was not moving,.. My phone was rooted however I was not able to install a custom recovery (clockworkmod) on it while it was still working. I also needed a copy of the stock rom..Already done factory reset and cleared cache.. stll nothing works..

So I can't get my EasyConnected app working with my Pixel XL. It just says "Failed to install MOB Interconnection Service" or something along those lines. I thought the new app posted might finally be the version needed to resolve this, but to no avail. Does ANYONE have a solution/alternative app so I can mirror my phone to the unit? I'm running the latest Malaysk ROM, but I doubt that's really relevant. Thanks

Thanks, ihsansevilir - I followed your instructions above (after fitting an original Samsung cable to the head unit) & finally my Easy Connect in working!!! This has been driving me mad for weeks - Thank you!!!
Could you be more specific, please!
For what I can understand, you culdn't connect your phone with your car using EasyConnected and got the Failed to Insatall the Interconnection Service error. So, you upgraded to the latest version. With this verrsion you run into the serial number problem.
So, is it with this latest version from autopumpkin that you apply this method:
-open settings on Head Unit under apps menu find the easy connect and uninstall update
-then open app again
- bottom right corner of the
screen you'll see version number
Touch it and select update woala. It works.

For me it is very important to know this, because once I install the latest version, I wont be able to go back to the old one and use older phones (which were working OK). Only taking the car to the dealer will do. Also, I'm not sure that the uninstall the upgrade option will be available in settings for Android 4.4.x
I am trying to connect a Samsung Galaxy S7
Thanks for your help!
EasyConnected Serial issue - Please help!
I am having this problem, i have a number of Android phones, including an Android 7 Nougat that i want to use EasyConnected with. I have tried the latest .apk HT03.4.3.6 and tried many other .apk previous to that.
i'm using a genuine cable.
It gets to the following "NO access to the serial number of the device hardware, please contact the dealer"
and fails because of the serial number issue. also the S/N says "null" so i'm assuming it is looking for a serial number??
i read somewhere about creating a .net_easyconn_license file? Would this help? What is the file and where does this .net_easyconn_license reside in which directory?
Any assistance would be helpful, Thanks, i hope someone can assist as i'm fairly new to this.

Drive mode does come up on my phone but the hu doesn't recognize that it is running.
I am out of ideas. If anyone has any insight or recommendations for apps that have the same functionality. This is my first android head unit, and I've only had it installed for 24 hours.
I gave up and installed a different app, Airscreen AirPlay

I ended up upgrading my HU to android 5.1, as i found another post with instructions to do so along with an image. I performed the upgrade in hopes of fixing the problem, but i ended up with the same result.
After this I installed EasyConnection service from play store. I also forgot to mention in my prior post that my phone is running android 8.0. Using this app solved my problem. The steps i took to get this to work :
1) Goto playstore and search for EasyConnection. Install it.
2) Open EasyConnection.
3) After the TOS / EULA, Click the profile / settings button in bottom left of screen.
4) Open "cellphone-automobile interconnection software". Leave this open.
5) Turn on your headunit, plug in the USB cable (follow app instructions as normal).
6) Voila !
note, after the initial connection is made, you can disconnect the usb cable, and use wifi mode with mobile hotspot on your phone to get the connection. The drive mode app that comes with the HU is not used, and is instead replaced with the one native to the phone's app that is installed.
Hope this helps anyone else having the interconnection error !!
