Hi guys.. im new to rooting stuff. How do you guys overclock your processor? Wht apps did you used? Wht is the best setting for Galaxy grand? I heard tht processor can be overclock to 150%. Is it true? What bout overclocking GPU? Is it same?

Check you tube videos and compare over clocked cpu with normal... In practical over clocked doesn't make any difference.. For further information check youtube videos

a preoverclocked kernel is needed

you will need a kernel which has to be a pre overclocked (which has been overclocked) or which supports overclock. :cyclops:
in my case i had a galaxy s to which i flased cyanogen mod and dowloaded a overclock app called tegrax and did overclocking(dont try this kid i wont work) and i now have a nexus 4 which has no 3rd party app to clock it higher but there are kernels which are pre-oc !
Try @k2wl kernels in development section. Problem is the developnent stopped for sometime now. Maybe dev is busy.

Hey guys, could you recommend me a kernel for my gio running CM9 that also has under and overvolt capabilites, without giving up things like the init.d support and cpu scaling?
Gio doesnt support it, it cant..

Why is that?

Because of the cheap arm v6. It cant be undervolted

Allowing your CPU to lower its volt consumption then its stock value , mostly done on PC's..

Simple way:
You charge your battery with energy. The processor needs energy to run. It takes energy out of the battery with the same amount in a timezone. With undervolting you can set this value under its normal value, so it consumes less energy and saves your energy stored in your battery for your screen, wifi, data connection etc what consumes energy stored in the battery..

lol 0.o if u compile a complete new kernel
u can set the Voltage Use while Overclocking -.-
So if it is over seven its Overvolt
It is under 7 its Undervolt
so are u a kernel Dev to say something like that?

Why dont we have one then? Because it can ruin your cpu..
Phiexz and delanoister are great devs, they also made kernels..
And it problably doesnt work well because otherwise we would have it

Okay, is that why games like temple run are not compatible with us either? Also, if you know, what is the difference between it and other processors that makes it undervolt incompatible?

Temple run isnt supported officially, so it is modified to work, but arm v6 is old and cant handle it smoothly, thats why they dont give official support..

Ah makes sense. To bad though. :/
lol FIT/ACE/MINI is able to do that -.-
Yup undervolt gives much lower performance but any device is able to do that ;-)

I think the sega or rush kernels have this also. Wouldn't recommend it, to be honest. The difference between 1.6 and 2.0 is almost unnoticeable performance-wise but your battery life will suffer.
Thanks man

Overclocking to that frequency is close to deadly for our phones. Better just sell your phone, you get money, instead of just a brick.
what do you thing it will work on our gio if we modify it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167228

The mod is only for Adreno 205 (or more powerful) GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Gio only has an Adreno 200 GPU, therefore it is not powerful enough. You can try this or this. They both work pretty well (I have tested them on my Gio), but I think the 1st one (Adrenaline Engine) is better. No harm trying both though - just remember to do a Nandroid Backup beforehand.
Just to know the best gaming rom now is cyantux whit the latest gaming patch or adrenqline rom

Which Adrenaline Rom? I was searching everywhere on xda and found 2 I think. One didnt work, the other was horrible in every way. Poor performance, ugly interface...

U can only now if u try it
Overlocking its different from phone to phone ! Some w can take big oc and some just crash
U have to test for yourself since every w has unique hardware

I dont think you searched.. Or youre very new.. Many custom kernels allow overclocking through trickster mod.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
franco.kernel is already overclocked at 512 MHz and it cant be changed. You can try dirtyV (dont know which other kernel has that function, ASKP maybe) but 512 Mhz is highest clock you can set so it means you are having maximum Overclock already

I tried Trickster mod, no GPU overclock function. Well as far as I checked I haven't seen any options.

Its strange how 2D games like Spaceteam has lag at parts but Real Racing 3 is as smooth as butter. Maybe there's a Chainfire add on to fix this?
