Apologies for being blunt, but this is a forum for the Note 2, not for "clone" devices whose only similarity is a passing resemblance to the Note 2.
You can't use Note 2 tools (e.g. Odin) or Note 2 ROMs because your device isn't a Note 2, and *never* will be! You would be far better of searching for something related to the Mediatek chip set (e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39559732) because you're far more likely to find someone with knowledge of your device.

Yes. It is impossible for you to flash any rom to get an original of note 2.. However, you can customize your devise pretty much.. speed, response, etc etc.. and install huge games as well. to start with, you need to get rooted.. search for bin4ry v17 on XDA and you can get it.. if your phone drivers are installed on comp properly, then it shud work for you. (search for PDANET VCOM drivers) if it doesnt connect.. installing drivers first is very important. Next go on to install CWM. since you have a clone note 2, the only working method with 100% guarantee is by SP flasher tool.. search XDA again n you can get this.. Bad news, stop thinking about the bigger roms (OMEGA/CYNOGEN/MIUI etc etc). they have not yet ported roms for mediatek note 2 or devices.. not important (I will also try to be blunt). GOOD NEWS: follow below links
1. MIUI update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305905
2. JB ROM by superdragonpt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45048032#post45048032 (recommended read)
3. AOKP rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008866
The trick is for you to understand your device well enough to find out which rom could/would work (the ZTE phones have similar specifications to the note 2 clone MT6577) for now, its a go hit process... maybe this will improve and having lots of faith on XDA.
Hope that helped.
How could I investigate the ROM's compatibility

Thanks maxed4901 :good:
I have this phone Clone GT-N7102 :
Hardware : MT6577 (SMDK4x12 is Fake!)
Model : GT-N7102
Build number : JRO03C.N7102ZSALJ2
Build date UTC : 20130306-111329
Android v : 4.1.9
Baseband v: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V5, 2013/01/28 11:29
Kernel v : 3.0.13 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Wed Mar 6 19:10:15 CST 2013
Uboot build v : MAIN2.2.ubt.3877
LCD Driver IC : 1-otm8009a_6575_dsi
I rooted it with "root" option of MtkDroidTools_v248. No problem.
Now you say : "The trick is for you to understand your device well enough to find out which rom could/would work", could you give me any advice how could I investigate the ROM's compatibility ?
I have original ROM backup with SP flasher tool and MtkDroidTools (also scatter file), it's enought in the event of brick or malfunction for incorrect ROM update ?
Have you any advice to my " go hit process..." without definitely brick my clone.
For my actual knowledge your links to ZTE v970 or Ported from The JIAYU G3, could be ok..., so if I don't ever upgrade with SP flasher tool PRELOADER and DSP_BL, I will safely test other ROMs ?
Thank in advance for your support :fingers-crossed:

How can I tell if antutu cpu master is working?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
you will feel the decreased speed and increased battery life
Yikes. Well I was wondering if there was any way to check logs of some sort. To monitor the cpu. Because honestly, I can't tell myself if there's a difference. And any time I check it's running at max frequency. So I want to know if it's doing anything when phone is not in use.
Edit
I tried to use cpu spy. It doesn't seem to be compatible with sgy? :/
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
actually max frequency is the default frequency ie. 832 Mhz so you won't feel any difference because there is no difference
but when you will under clock it ie 600 Mhz then you will feel difference
and Yeah SGY kernel ain't support cpu master
re
to check if cpu frequency has decreased, run a benchmark before and after frequency change, you will get lower score with lower frequency...
And currently SGY kernel only support 312 and 832, you cant select any other frequency.....
i would like to suggest to put this in FAQ

But seriously, this is why you make a backup before flashing custom roms. I've seen you go around on other threads begging for help on how to get back to stock, but never bothering to understand the answer when it requires you to think for yourself. No offense.
No, kies won't help. No, don't bring it to a service center. They won't accept phones with custom roms. Flash stock via Odin. I'll link you to a guide tomorrow with all the files you need, if nobody does it before me. I need to catch up on sleep for now. For now I suggest you read up on nandroid backups. It'll help.

Open Beta may not be stable and may cause issues with your phone!
By loading open beta you have agreed to:
1. To report all random reboots with associated /proc/last_kmsg
2. To provide feedback on errors or bugs with detail phone information such as ROM, kernel version, and apps
3. Participate in Forum discussions for the beta software with others without FLAMING each other or post useless information such as:
a} Phone doesn't boot (without providing any additional information, ROM versions etc)
b} phone is too hot (without providing any additional information, ie OC freq, UV etc)
The Open Beta system is designed to have the community help each other and the developers. This way, all potential bugs are flushed out so the final released version will be stable and error free. The more actively you participate in Beta Testing the better the final product will be (you are really helping yourself to create a better community software).
If you do NOT agree with the statements above, DO NOT load my Open Beta software.
Kernel 012 Open Beta 1 is out! (BETAs ARE ALWAYS ULTIMATE + Variant Free unless I stated otherwise)
ICS ==> http://faux.androidro.ms/endeavoru/beta/endeavoru-Faux123-012b1.zip
[ build 1 ]
Add Low Power (LP) core overdrive
(What is LP overdrive? LP core is capable of running up to 620 MHz @ 1.3 volts, so I simply unlocked the LP core to allow it to operate @ max freq. The overdrive also adjust the G cluster / LP core cross over point. The stock version was @ 475MHz LP / 370 MHz G-cluster, I moved the cross over point to 620MHz LP / 513 MHz G-cluster).
What does all this mean? It means LP core is now able to handle more load up to 620MHz single core before switching over to the more power hunger G-Clusters. This should theoretically save more battery life (since LP core is designed to very power frugal in Hardware). When you check the CPU stats with CPUSpy, you will see the cross over points 513MHz and 620 MHz to have high usage time. <== THIS is normal because the stats counts BOTH the LP time and the G-Cluster time so it appears to have more time than other frequencies.

Hi faux,
As developer do you think that the flicker issue (on some devices) can be solved from the software side? I'm asking this becasue I'm still waiting for the fix from someone and don't want to send the device back to the shop if it will be possible to fix this via software.
Many thanks in advance!

On some devices at some brightness levels, mostly on gray images the screen behaves not as expected. It starts to flicker but only on the grey part of image. (for me at least).
It's like installing an OS on PC with a generic display driver, like if the refresh rates were not correct.
Here are some benchmarks screen shots:
Hi faux!
Can the kernel be flashed right onto ARHD 5.1.1 or does it have to be adapted to ARHD?
Greetings
Edit: Tried it myself and it works on ARHD 5.1.1
Antutu Benchmark is : 10121
Quadrant BM is: 4366
Unfortunately, I have to admit that my Antutu scrore was around 11000 with Bricked Kernel,
but whatever

Well this thread is dedicated about the possibilities of getting a port of ubuntu phone os. Recently displayed and would be launched around MWC 2013, Ubuntu OS will be launched for galaxy nexus! .
although there are short threads present about the topic, aim of this thread would be to provide Support/Bug-Report/F.A.Q if any port of ubuntu shows up for our phone from our great developers.
This is refreshingly new OS.
HERE IS THE LINK TO THREAD--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174544
I am damn sure some-one will take up this great job
Latest: Ubuntu Phone OS Porting Guide https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
Some of Features of ubuntu phone:(taken from wikipedia)
OS family Unix-like
Working state Current
Source model Open source
Initial release February 2013; 30 days' time
Available language(s) Multilingual
Update method Ubuntu Software Center (+ APT, …)
Package manager dpkg
Supported platforms i386, ARM
Kernel type Monolithic (Linux kernel)
Userland GNU
Default user interface Unity shell
So what may be the hindrances:
What kernel version is it based on
will it require bootloader unlock ;-(
UBUNTU PHONE OS
since it is yet to be released this is an open discussion, if any developer takes this project for defy, this thread will be a F.A.Q/support/Bugreport thread (if ever it happens )
i'm here for tests.
i'm not a developer, but you guys can count with my defy+ for tests. I really would like to have ubuntu phone on my defy+.
I'd love to see Ubuntu Phone OS on Defy. First of all it's based on Android kernel so there wouldn't be much difficulty for it. The sources should be out next month. Also we'll need to find a method to dual boot with a custom kernel because it's less likely for someone to use it as a primary OS.
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
Will be very nice to see ubuntu working natively on ours Defy but the specification for minimal resources is beyond the possibilities of defy. So it can be ported but will be very laggy IMHO.

Not that beyond. Min specs (as stated here) only ask 4-8GB internal storage for an entry-level ubuntu phone, everything else (CPU clock, minimum RAM and multitouch capability) already cover our phone. Plus, as far as I remember (though I can easily be wrong on this, since I haven't touched an Ubuntu machine for months, now), this OS (specially considering it was specifically deployed for running on phones) doesn't take more than 2GB when installed. Again, I can be wrong, BUT... What about multiboot? A class 6 8GB card (or even a class 4, like the one included with our phones) may do the job, and we will still be able to boot CM10+ and ask silly questions to Google Now.

I may be wrong, but I think I read in more than one place it'll be available as a flashable zip. Since the folks there at Canonical were able to boot this little beauty in a Galaxy Nexus, and they intend to release the GNx version (without many workarounds needed to install) before the end of january, I think it's pretty safe to bet on a recovery-flashable zip file. Last, but not least, I think an install script (like the ones devs use in current Android flashable zips) may be slightly modified to install Ubuntu from a system image, specially if you consider Aroma-based installers are doing wonders in matter of personalizing Android installations. This not considering (and in this matter I have absolutely no idea) the possibility of the disk installer of linux distributions be already running scripts very similar to those used on Android flashable zips to install desktop OSs on computers. Devs will be better suited to tell about the latter.
P.S.: if anyone there tried Android-x86, you guys can see the installable image is very similar to an Ubuntu (or any other linux) installation zip. This might lead us in the opposite direction, looking at which modifications were made for the installer to work with Android, and reversing them for a Ubuntu installer to work in a flashable zip.

Not that beyond. Min specs (as stated here) only ask 4-8GB internal storage for an entry-level ubuntu phone, everything else (CPU clock, minimum RAM and multitouch capability) already cover our phone.

Is nice that you are very optimistic with this. I wanna be so but ... the entry level processor is a Cortex9 ! which is more powerfull than ours and Ubuntu is based on 3.4x kernel and necesitate a bigger system ROM to install (ours is ~350MB). Anyhow will wait and see and ... speculate.

It may depend on how far our devs will be able to strip down the OS for our phone, I think we may not require full fledged running desktop compatibility but it still depends by what extent we can strip down the footprint!

Then I can make rather a system as primary OS alpha and p500 use my day-to-day
sorry my english
It would be nice if we had more one option rom. Live freedom!
are there some news? i've founded this video, but I can't understand if this is related to the thread in android development...

Kayant had released an alpha preview.. but the ubuntu project will be helpful iff we some how boot up 3.0.x kernel with RIL

Hello guys.
The name of the threat is in fact the question.
How old is our kernel compared to others highend phones? and what is the chance that the kernel would be updated to the latest linux kernel with all its futures.
I put this question because I wanted tp use a program called android tuner.
This program aside Other futures has the ability to trim the system. The function is called fstrim.
I used this program with my old galaxy s1 with cyanogenmod android 4.3 and fstrim worked. So imagine my suprise and disappoitment when the program said that the kernel do not suport fstrim.
I did a litlle researce and found out that the linux kernel 3.0.8 is from 2011. So 3 EARS ago. Whaaaat???
Maybe i'm wrong. But if i'm right that means that the developement of this phone begun in 2011 or that they were to lazi or to Cheap, and they adapted the kernel from other models.
I wait for your answers.

3 years old correct and sad.But patched.....
It's a really sad thing
Hi,
I am trying to port LineageOS to an unsupported device, an IBall Slide Cuddle A4.
Here's the guide I'm following : https://fat-tire.github.io/porting-intro.html
This is the part where I need help:
"Add the blobs to the vendor/ directory
Once you have a working recovery, it's now time to get CyanogenMod building and working.
The first thing to do is to get all the proprietary, binary blobs into the vendor/ folder, along with a .mk file that will include them in the final build.
This requires three steps:
Create extract-files.sh and setup-makefiles.sh scripts to pull those blob files from the device using adb and put them in the right /vendor/ directory. There are plenty of examples available for other devices.
Create an .mk Makefile to copy those files to the $OUT folder during the build process and put them in the right place. Again, use other devices as a guide for what this Makefile should look like. An example filename might be BoardConfigVendor.mk
Make sure that the Makefile you just created is included from your main BoardConfig.mk via a command such as -include vendor/[vendor]/[codename]/BoardConfigVendor.mk. Again, existing devices can illustrate how this is done.
Now revise the device/ directory
Since you have a working recovery, go back and start modifying the files in the device/ folder. As always, use other similar devices as a reference.
You now have a easy means to do backups and test your builds. So start tweaking the device folder itself, and see if you get it to boot... Once you do, from there its a matter of building and supporting the various parts and peripherals, one-by-one. "

Q #1: Where all should I look on my device for the proprietary blobs, and what do they look like? Can I manually extract them out of my existing ROM and paste them into the proper folder of the new one?
Q #2: What do I modify in the device/ folder?
Q #3: What does it mean to "build and support the various parts and peripherals" Does this mean to add the necessary drivers? If so, can I get these drivers from the stock ROM?
The reason I have to ask this here is because my device has NO similar LineageOS-supported devices with the same chipset for me to refer to. My tablet has a MediaTek MT8392 chipset, and I couldn't find any supported devices with an MT8392 (or an MT6592, which is very similar). Also, there is NO code available from the manufacturer, at all. The only resource I have is a stock ROM.
Are there any other ways in which a device can be similar enough for me to use as reference?
It would be really nice if someone could provide links to articles explaining the above 3 things, or if someone has already gone through this process, share their experience.
Also, will my kernel (v3.4.67) be compatible with the latest LineageOS 16 / Android 9 or will I have to build an earlier version?
I am very new to Android development, but that doesn't mean that I can't learn!
That's a hard task for getting started. A mtk device with no twrp available. I recommend to start with low hanging fruits. Like buying an old phone with dropped lineageOS support and building an updated version.
I understand that it is quite difficult. So instead of doing a full port myself, I am now trying the method of taking an image made for a similar MTK device and transferring the device-specific files from my stock ROM, as shown in the following guide:
https://www.techubng.com/2017/09/how-to-port-lineage-os-14-nougat-rom-on-mtk.html
It says:
"From System/lib/hw: Delete all mt6572.so blobs and replace with these blobs: DOWNLOAD BLOBS
Now copy these files from stock to port:
System/lib/hwcomposer.mt65xx.so
System/lib/gralloc
System/lib/lib.audio.primary.so
Systemlib/lib.mali.soS
System/Etc
System/lib/libcameracustom.so
System/etc/firmware
System/lib/libfeatureio.so
boot/kernel
boot/unventd.rc (only if you are getting stuck at logo)
boot/Replace only camera lines under #Camera from stock boot.img init.rc to init.mt6572.rclib/libcamdrv.solib/libcamalgo.so"
But my stock ROM does not have any of the files he listed uner /system/lib! Can I ignore these files, or is there some other place where these files could be? (I checked /vendor)
Also, what about all the other files in /system/lib? Which ones are device-specific and does anything else need to be copied into the new ROM?
As for the TWRP, I have found tools like Easy Magic TWRP Installer ( https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-5162.html ) which will automatically do the porting given the boot.img and recovery.img from the stock ROM. Are these safe to use, as long as I provide the right info to the tool?
I want to use LineageOS on this tablet because the stock OS has some annoying bugs and is quite old (Android 4.4.2) considering how recent the tablet is and how much capability the tablet's hardware has. The manufacturer (IBall) has provided no updates at all.
Lineage OS on Samsung Galaxy J3 Achieve (SM-J337P)
Can I pay a developer to make a working ROM to put Lineage OS on the Samsung Galaxy J3 Achieve (SM-J337P) ?
If so, how do I find a developer who can do it?
hey, i have a sm-t280 that have a similar supported device. how i port to it?
i have a sm-t280 that i wan't to update the android. the only exit i found it's build linegeos or aosp for it, can anyone help me?

If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking in Geekbench as there's a lot of conflicting information on the web. Usually, Samsung only puts the Exynos chip in GSM only devices sold outside the US.

Hi there, I just noticed this reply you had made and I have a question about a device that may have had Lineage support.
What I would like to do, once I have my new phone that is, is to take my current phone Motorola Edge+ (2020) and turn it into a small Lineage tablet.
However, there is one slight problem with this, and that is rhat there is currently no Lineage support for this device, but there is support for it's younger brother the Motorola Edge (2020).
Now I do know that porting is possible between devices, but I've seen a lot of guides says they should have the certain similarities such as processor and such.
However the CPU, GPU and Chipset are slightly different (Same brands though), will this pose a problem in porting?
I of course do realize that I will of course need the proprietary blobs from Motorola for this device and I believe I have found them.
Finally, I am curious if you know of any up to date guides on porting? I will of course continue researching myself, however I thought I would make an enquiry anyway.
Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
