[Q] How can I flash stock firmwares to my SGY?
[Ans] Current Odin releases (1.84, 1.85) does support SGY, but has
incompatibility issues with stock firmware packs (eg from FUS
server, Sammobile, and other common sources). But Doky73
converted most of the current firmwares and released it to public.

and actually the cwm for our phone is in development phase its not fully functional and still lots of bugs.
How can I tell if antutu cpu master is working?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
you will feel the decreased speed and increased battery life
Yikes. Well I was wondering if there was any way to check logs of some sort. To monitor the cpu. Because honestly, I can't tell myself if there's a difference. And any time I check it's running at max frequency. So I want to know if it's doing anything when phone is not in use.
Edit
I tried to use cpu spy. It doesn't seem to be compatible with sgy? :/
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
actually max frequency is the default frequency ie. 832 Mhz so you won't feel any difference because there is no difference
but when you will under clock it ie 600 Mhz then you will feel difference
and Yeah SGY kernel ain't support cpu master
re
to check if cpu frequency has decreased, run a benchmark before and after frequency change, you will get lower score with lower frequency...
And currently SGY kernel only support 312 and 832, you cant select any other frequency.....
i would like to suggest to put this in FAQ

Can someone please tell me which rom should i choose for making my own custom rom, by brother have this phone and i want to make a good custom rom for him but i m confused in choosing a rom as a base, please suggest me the best stock rom out for galaxy y.
please guys keep patience my exams are very near I'm too busy atm I'll add all of these and lots more but please wait for sometime
Thank You..
This post is in reply to jeffcleds on the other thread PG closed just now. I've typed it up then hit reply only to get a message that the thread has been closed. So copy pasta to here:
^+1 for number five. Lol.
But seriously, this is why you make a backup before flashing custom roms. I've seen you go around on other threads begging for help on how to get back to stock, but never bothering to understand the answer when it requires you to think for yourself. No offense.
No, kies won't help. No, don't bring it to a service center. They won't accept phones with custom roms. Flash stock via Odin. I'll link you to a guide tomorrow with all the files you need, if nobody does it before me. I need to catch up on sleep for now. For now I suggest you read up on nandroid backups. It'll help.

EZ-DZ GODSPEED OVERCLOCKING kernel Update ver 03 for the HTC Desire Z
WHAT'S THIS ??
- This is a flashable Update.zip containing the stock HTC Desire Z with HTC Sense Kernel 2.6.32.21-gd2764ed.
- NOTICE this is kernel-specific. This overclocking update won't work if you have a different kernel (T-Mobile firmware, some asian versions, etc). This is intended for the current stock european generic Desire Z, the Bell-NAM Desire Z, and any custom ROM based on this Kernel version.
- It will overclock your phone's CPU to 1017 MHz, 1206 MHz or 1420 MHz Godspeed.
- The stock Kernel has not been modified. Instead of that, the Overclocking module is automatically loaded on boot.
- It also includes embedded root priviledges, disabled security, the latest Busybox (Nov 2010) and Superuser, so your root will stay even if you ever have to factory reset.
- Flashing one of this Kernel Update zips will NOT erase your personal info and configurations; it will not wipe your phone because only the kernel will be updated.
HOW TO FLASH ??
- I assume you are an experienced user, if not, please refer to the "EASY rooting/flashing TUTORIAL and FAQs for dummies" thread, read the FAQ, and them come back.
TIP: Hey, please remember: it's always clever to make a NANDroid backup before flashing anything.
- I have prepared 3 sets: a conservative 1 GHz overclocking update, an intermediate 1.2 GHz option and a more aggressive 1.4 GHz version. Pick your Downlaod from this post's footer, and copy it to your phone's SD card.
- Flash it via ClockworkMod: Open ROM Manager, tap "Install ROM from SD card", scroll to select your EZ Godspeed update zip, tap OK. Phone will reboot with the updated kernel.
TIP: DON'T check "Wipe Data and Cache" unless you wanna delete all your personal info, installed apps and configurations.
- Enjoy your new godspeed EZ overclocked DZ
WANT TO FINE TUNE OR TRY OTHER SPEEDS ??
- I strongly recommend getting SetCPU from the Market. It will let you control your max/min CPU speeds, fine tune, and many advanced options, but be aware SetCPU can't override the max speed specified by the Godspeed kernel update you choose.
- To change the max overclocking speed, You can flash from any Godspeed update to another as many times as you wish, because the only diference between each is the overclocking module autoload script 03gtrabOC, which specifies the oc-dz.ko overclocking module max value (check post 5 if you want to learn how it works or how to make your own update zips).
HOW TO DISABLE / UNINSTALL ??
Do you really wanna go back ?? OK then, manually uninstalling is EZ-DZ too:
1.- Delete the file /system/etc/init.d/03gtrabOC and reboot. The overclocking module won't be auto-loaded anymore; you're back to 806MHz.
2.- Delete /system/lib/modules/oc-dz.ko (the overclocking module). This is optional since the module won't be loaded without the script.
Everything else in this Update zips is stock (the Kernel, radio module bcm4329.ko, etc) except for a couple of ramdisk optimizations (embedded root and enabled busybox run parts capabilities) and the latest Busybox and Superuser apps (which you already had).
OR you can simply restore your NANDroid backup and forget you ever flashed this OC thing.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
THANKS to tkirton (update script guru and patient teacher), coolbho3000 (original overclocking module for the HTC Vision), stridger (recompiled module for the Desire Z), dsixda (learned a lot by reading the scripts from his kitchen) and many others.
If I owe acknowledgements please let me know and I will update this post.

Good work
Awesome work!
Is there a way to set speed at 1Ghz? I am using SetCPU. Slider gives me only 245, 368, 768 and 1420MHz speed. Any ideas?
Oh! And is there easy way defuse this nice kernel? Root and S-Off I already had.
Still waiting for this f$*kin' phone in France, need it !
In setCPU, impossible to set speed at stock Mhz ? (806Mhz, correct ?)
As always, feel free to modify/edit/tweak/improve etc anything I share
How are the max frequencies/clockspeeds set ??
The overclocking script file /system/etc/init.d/03gtrabOC loads the overclocking module oc-dz.ko at boot, and sets its max speed.
The last line in the script sets the maximum overclocking value:
The only change between all versions is the final number at "pll2_l_val=x" (the MHz value multiplier is 19.2). Examples:
For stock 806.4 MHz
pll2_l_val=42
For 1017.6 MHz
pll2_l_val=53
For 1209 Mhz
pll2_l_val=63
For 1420 Mhz
pll2_l_val=74
How to delete the script 03gtrabOC to stop auto-loading the overclocking module ??
Using ADB commands from a PC:
adb remount (remounts r/w for that session if phone has unsecured kernel, like this one)
adb shell rm /system/etc/init.d/03gtrabOC
How is the overclocking module auto-loaded ??
The stock boot.img was unpacked, and inside ramdisk, bootcomplete.rc was edited to include a line which enables Busybox run parts at boot, then, with Notepad++ a line was added to the updater-script of the Update zip which gives running atributes to any script dropped into /system/etc/init.d. There's where the module-loading script 03gtrabOC was placed.
Was else was included or modified ??
- The overclocking module compiled by stridger was added to /system/lib/modules/
- Superuser APK was added to /system/app/ just in case it's missing or wrong.
- Su and the latest version of Busybox were added to /system/xbin/
- A full set of Busybox symlinks was added to the Update zip updater-script with Notepad++
- Inside the boot.img's ramdisk, defaul.prop was edited to ro.secure=0 (unsecured Kernel, "root")
- The Kernel itself was not touched, to avoid conflicts / problems (anyway the source is still not available).
How were these Update zips packed and signed ??
Using Daneshm90's Update zip tool.
How was the boot.img unpacked and repacked ??
Using scripts from dsixda's kitchen on Cygwin, a Unix emulator for Windows.
Thanks AGAIN mate. Is 1.4 GHz safe choice for everyday usage?
I'll try play with values, I just want that 1GHz too.
EDIT: And I want that 1.4 GHz value too. lol
03gtrabOC has only one value, is that some kind divider? I am sorry but I can not figure those tables out.
This works great. I assume that this now sticks between reboots?

yes of course you need root and S-OFF to flahs this or anything non-official
check the easy tutorial FAQ linked on the post, you'll become a flashing master in 8 minutes
Is 1.4GHz the fastest we can go on the Z / without a custom kernel?
Seeing as the G2 can go up to 1.9GHz.

I'm on 1.4Ghz, that's enough for me, but other users dare to go up and up. Check the other overclocking threads in this forum to see what other users are reporting.
This update zip won't change the voltage, just the speed, so we will have to find out

1.- Maybe you have a different ROM, o this is not "stock" for you
2.- Maybe yoou have a corrupt download. Did you check the MD5 checksums ??
Installation Instructions:
Here's a step by step instruction to install this kernel:
[normal mode]
1. download the above file (via phone directly or to a PC)
2. copy the downloaded zip file to /sdcard/download/
3. extract boot.img from the zip file to a location of your choice ON YOUR PC
4. open up a command window (Windows) or shell terminal (Linux/Mac)
5. connect USB cable to the phone
6. type "adb reboot bootloader"
[fastboot mode]
7. type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
8. Once fastboot flash is completed, disconnect the USB cable
9. Select hboot using volume buttons on the phone
[recovery mode]
10. Select recovery
11. go to /sdcard/download and select the downloaded zip file and let it run its script.
12. Once the script is done, select "reboot system now"
Note: After FLASHING, the first reboot may take longer than usual, please be patient... After the first reboot, it may lag during initial load (let everything finish loading). Once everything is loaded and phone is ready for use, reboot the phone a 2nd time and the lag will be gone and everything should be silky smooth...

Open Beta may not be stable and may cause issues with your phone!
By loading open beta you have agreed to:
1. To report all random reboots with associated /proc/last_kmsg
2. To provide feedback on errors or bugs with detail phone information such as ROM, kernel version, and apps
3. Participate in Forum discussions for the beta software with others without FLAMING each other or post useless information such as:
a} Phone doesn't boot (without providing any additional information, ROM versions etc)
b} phone is too hot (without providing any additional information, ie OC freq, UV etc)
The Open Beta system is designed to have the community help each other and the developers. This way, all potential bugs are flushed out so the final released version will be stable and error free. The more actively you participate in Beta Testing the better the final product will be (you are really helping yourself to create a better community software).
If you do NOT agree with the statements above, DO NOT load my Open Beta software.
Kernel 012 Open Beta 1 is out! (BETAs ARE ALWAYS ULTIMATE + Variant Free unless I stated otherwise)

[ build 1 ]
Add Low Power (LP) core overdrive
(What is LP overdrive? LP core is capable of running up to 620 MHz @ 1.3 volts, so I simply unlocked the LP core to allow it to operate @ max freq. The overdrive also adjust the G cluster / LP core cross over point. The stock version was @ 475MHz LP / 370 MHz G-cluster, I moved the cross over point to 620MHz LP / 513 MHz G-cluster).
What does all this mean? It means LP core is now able to handle more load up to 620MHz single core before switching over to the more power hunger G-Clusters. This should theoretically save more battery life (since LP core is designed to very power frugal in Hardware). When you check the CPU stats with CPUSpy, you will see the cross over points 513MHz and 620 MHz to have high usage time. <== THIS is normal because the stats counts BOTH the LP time and the G-Cluster time so it appears to have more time than other frequencies.

Hi faux,
As developer do you think that the flicker issue (on some devices) can be solved from the software side? I'm asking this becasue I'm still waiting for the fix from someone and don't want to send the device back to the shop if it will be possible to fix this via software.
Many thanks in advance!

On some devices at some brightness levels, mostly on gray images the screen behaves not as expected. It starts to flicker but only on the grey part of image. (for me at least).
It's like installing an OS on PC with a generic display driver, like if the refresh rates were not correct.
Here are some benchmarks screen shots:
Hi faux!
Can the kernel be flashed right onto ARHD 5.1.1 or does it have to be adapted to ARHD?
Greetings
Edit: Tried it myself and it works on ARHD 5.1.1
Antutu Benchmark is : 10121
Quadrant BM is: 4366
Unfortunately, I have to admit that my Antutu scrore was around 11000 with Bricked Kernel,
but whatever

Hi there,
I'm browsing forum for quite a time recently, mostly reading stuff about One V, but I've still got some questions.
Due to the fact, that my exp in rooting stopped with i5700 2.3 rooting, and things seems more complex right now, I've got some doubts:
1. what is "Bootloader" - looks quite new to me, even I've rooted phones before
2. what is "RUU"
3. which is most stable kernel at the time?
4. is it safe to overclock cpu for 1,5ghz and is new performance worth doing that? (i.e what is new battery drain after doing that)
5. what is PRIMO? ("Here all available ROMs for Primo")
6. is there any super-stable ROM with no extra stuff?
7. what files do I need to un-brick or restore software to basics? (in order to have guarantee fix for no fee)
I would really appreciate answers!
There is too much pages to dig in to find it on your own, and above list should help not only me.

If you consider "safe" as running without crashes.
Then yes it is save. It seems that nearly every One V is capable of doing up to max 1.5GHz
allthough it is always possible that it is not. Thats the "fun" part of OC
More then 1.5GHz seems to work stable only on "selected" devices so
its a matter of "luck"
If it is worth?
Actually this is a hard question and not a yes/no one
since it heavily depends on your "usage workflow"

Primo is the "device name" of the HTC One V
There are actually two "flavors" PrimoU and PrimoC (GSM vs. CDMA)

how to find that?
1. what is "Bootloader" - looks quite new to me, even I've rooted phones before
The bootloader in regards of your Spica's (have one of those too) is the cwm. The spica had a cwm based recovery too, we have the official one for now.
2. what is "RUU"
ROM Update Utility.
Speaking of spica, it is like the download mode, what you used at the rooting at leshak's pda file.
The difference is that it isn't you who goes to download mode, but the phone to flash mode. The RUU if the phone has the stock recovery can reflash the stock firmware of the phone.
3. which is most stable kernel at the time?
The stock
4. is it safe to overclock cpu for 1,5ghz and is new performance worth doing that? (i.e what is new battery drain after doing that)
It won't blow up, if you mean that. Of course it will heat up more, will consume more power, but will be faster. If it is worth or not is based on your usage. (I don't use it, because I don't need it at the time at least
5. what is PRIMO? ("Here all available ROMs for Primo")
In regards again. The Samsung i5700 was called Galaxy Spica. The HTC One V is called PRIMO
BUT Primou has 2 (or 3) types. PrimoU PrimoC and PrimoDS (U= U.S. or world-wide GSM, C=CDMA, DS=Dual SIM GSM (have not encountered even one, but has ruu's)
6. is there any super-stable ROM with no extra stuff?
The phone is new enough, so super stable roms are stock enhanchment at the moment, there is CM9 development going on with steam power, so better be prepared .
7. what files do I need to un-brick or restore software to basics? (in order to have guarantee fix for no fee)
If you haven't hard-bricked your phone, then adb.exe, fastboot.exe, some dll's the RUU of your phone and the stock recovery file.
See for this thread:[RECOVERY] Stock recoveries for the One V
I would really appreciate answers!
There is too much pages to dig in to find it on your own, and above list should help not only me.

Titanium and KISS ATM, but stock is the most stable out of them atm.

how to find that?
google is your friend and the search button at top right
If you use Virgin Mobile in the US it is CDMA for sure.
From the software version or the phone's CID you can see it.

Since I am the "maintainer" of the KISS kernel let me try to
explain it the following way
The KISS kernel tries to be "as close to stock" as possible
including mostly additional stuff like OC. If you dont
"enable" any of those features it actually IS 99.99% stock
The Titanium kernel contains more changes and tweaks therefore
will be more performant. It is also based on a newer kernel version
as stock and also contains bugfixes that are neither in stock nor in KISS

CFS scheduler???
This is the default process scheduler for android kernels
Or do you mean CFQ I/O scheduler?
So dont you mix up process schedulers and I/O schedulers?

You got me on that, yes I meant the I/O sceduler.
thx guys for all the replies, when I get home need to study that for a while, but now 2 more questions:
can you tell me more, what is "s-off" in One and what is with that "I/O sceduler" ?

S-OFF means basicly that security off. With this you can even change the partition table of the phone, with the phone in S-ON it meant that you can change some of the partitions data (including kernel and data) but you can't change for example the CID of your phone (or you can't do the so-caller debrand).
For is it needed or not I can't really tell, but it is a possibility to attain some of the phones hidden potential
For I/O sceduler wiki is your friend. You have probably seen them in the Spica development. There they used the CFS and BFS at my time.

CFQ I/O scheduler is already part of the stock kernel (therefore it is also in KISS)
Stock has noop, deadline and CFQ with deadline beeing the default
For a device like the One V I think deadline is better then CFQ

Didn't know (but didn't tried ) that the stock has more I/O scedulers...
I have knowledge from my old phones, therefore I use cfq (my older phones had better battery life with it) but I acknowledge that the V outstands them in every way...

Apologies for being blunt, but this is a forum for the Note 2, not for "clone" devices whose only similarity is a passing resemblance to the Note 2.
You can't use Note 2 tools (e.g. Odin) or Note 2 ROMs because your device isn't a Note 2, and *never* will be! You would be far better of searching for something related to the Mediatek chip set (e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39559732) because you're far more likely to find someone with knowledge of your device.

Yes. It is impossible for you to flash any rom to get an original of note 2.. However, you can customize your devise pretty much.. speed, response, etc etc.. and install huge games as well. to start with, you need to get rooted.. search for bin4ry v17 on XDA and you can get it.. if your phone drivers are installed on comp properly, then it shud work for you. (search for PDANET VCOM drivers) if it doesnt connect.. installing drivers first is very important. Next go on to install CWM. since you have a clone note 2, the only working method with 100% guarantee is by SP flasher tool.. search XDA again n you can get this.. Bad news, stop thinking about the bigger roms (OMEGA/CYNOGEN/MIUI etc etc). they have not yet ported roms for mediatek note 2 or devices.. not important (I will also try to be blunt). GOOD NEWS: follow below links
1. MIUI update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305905
2. JB ROM by superdragonpt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45048032#post45048032 (recommended read)
3. AOKP rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008866
The trick is for you to understand your device well enough to find out which rom could/would work (the ZTE phones have similar specifications to the note 2 clone MT6577) for now, its a go hit process... maybe this will improve and having lots of faith on XDA.
Hope that helped.
How could I investigate the ROM's compatibility

Thanks maxed4901 :good:
I have this phone Clone GT-N7102 :
Hardware : MT6577 (SMDK4x12 is Fake!)
Model : GT-N7102
Build number : JRO03C.N7102ZSALJ2
Build date UTC : 20130306-111329
Android v : 4.1.9
Baseband v: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V5, 2013/01/28 11:29
Kernel v : 3.0.13 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Wed Mar 6 19:10:15 CST 2013
Uboot build v : MAIN2.2.ubt.3877
LCD Driver IC : 1-otm8009a_6575_dsi
I rooted it with "root" option of MtkDroidTools_v248. No problem.
Now you say : "The trick is for you to understand your device well enough to find out which rom could/would work", could you give me any advice how could I investigate the ROM's compatibility ?
I have original ROM backup with SP flasher tool and MtkDroidTools (also scatter file), it's enought in the event of brick or malfunction for incorrect ROM update ?
Have you any advice to my " go hit process..." without definitely brick my clone.
For my actual knowledge your links to ZTE v970 or Ported from The JIAYU G3, could be ok..., so if I don't ever upgrade with SP flasher tool PRELOADER and DSP_BL, I will safely test other ROMs ?
Thank in advance for your support :fingers-crossed:

What is it you expect from a low to mid range device? You cannot perform miracles on these devices. Pushing a device too far out of its design parameters can and does cause issues.
I for one would not be prepared to deal with comebacks when someone's device becomes unstable and erratic or permanently damaged from pushing it too far.
There are limits to what hardware can handle and I personally would not be prepared to risk my device for weeks of testing (which is what I try to do before releasing anything).
Why not buy a decent spec device with gaming in mind in the first place?
