Thanks! This really worked! Highly recommend!

This worked for me too, though now I can't seem to be able to see any ringtones/notifications apart from the .ogg ones in system/media

It worked for me too. So, can i install cm10 now? Is there any differences from other roooting methods (do i need to flash some sbfs in order to install JB roms?)

Yes, you can (no need to install other sbf's).
Make sure you have the current recovery installed OR reboot after installing CM10 & then install Gapps on the second instance.

Cannot root my froyo defy

I have it all hooked up correctly, I've rooted five different phones at this point, it just doesn't work. Superoneclick says the phone gets root but root checker and titanium says its not.

do with the root application called Gingerbreak
Gingerbreak works for Gingerbread only I think. Wipe cache partition and try again.

My Froyo Defy was rooting with Gingerbreak.. work perfect
just reboot your phone after rooting, install busybox with busybox installer from market and SU Update Fixer just to be sure and check if there is superuser in app drawer.
When I rooted my Defy after the 2.2 OTA update using SuperOneClick, it put Busybox somewhere where Titanium Backup didn't see it but everything else could. I ran the Busybox installer and now Titanium Backup is happy.
Alrighty, thanks for the advice guys. Ill try again soon and update this if I can get it working or not.

Hmm. Which version of SuperOneClick you use? Someones says that the latest (2.1.1) does not work on defy always. I used 1.9.5 and it works with no problems.
I hope I could help ya

Have you flashed your phone with your version froyo sbf file, through rsdlite?
After flashing sbf, try and use super one click (1.7 or 1.9.5).
Maker sure you go into settings and check enable USB debugging, in /settings/applications/development/...
Those are the three main thinks top get root working...
Although I have never used ginger break on my defy, I have used it on other phones with froyo, and it works great...
Hope that helps
the superoneclick 1.9.5 is not work on me.
so I suggest you to try 1.7 of it first.

z4root worked first time on my Defy. It's much less hassle than SuperOneClick - I certainly couldn't be bothered to faff about trying different versions to find one that's compatible.

Go to bixie's jb rom thread, he has there linked a supersu+busybox cwm flashable zip, dl that and copy it to the device. Dl also a non-touch cwm image.
Unlock your bootloader, bla bla follow guides on how to set up/use fastboot, BOOT cwm (not flash it) with 'fastboot boot cwm.img', flash that supersu zip, reboot. Done, you rooted jb, install voodoo root keeper or something, back up root. Thats one way how to root a Nexus. You can even relock your bootloader after you finished customizing.

Use bixie's jb ROM, it is already rooted and works paerfectly.
Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
It roots in a couple keystrokes, and allows you to do almost anything else you would want to do effortlessly. It's come in handy through many-a-flash for me.

Root Question.

There's a group of user that can't install in any described way the CWM Recovery.
My question is: is there any way to root the phone without CWM ?
And.. Is there any way to install a Custom ROM via Fastboot or any other method (without CWM?)
Thanks! :good:

I've tried every method described on the index and in other forums.
The conclusion, as i wrote before, is that we have something different about our video part that blocks the booting of the custom recovery.

[HOWTO] Root Android 4.3 on samsung galaxy nexus

This rooting technique Finally worked you will need three files
1) SDK TOOLS from
2) recovery.img from
3)MRKREHANROOT from
you should have unlock boot loaders USB drivers installed and should be on android 4.3
copy mrkrehanrehanroot3.1.zip in sdcard
be in fastboot mode ie switch off your device and hold both volume up and down and power button together and keep your device connected to PC
Extract the sdktools and place the revovery.img in that folder
then with one finger on shift key right click in an empty space in the folder and select open command window here
then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
it will flash recovery to your device
in recovery no need wipe anything install the zip mrkrehanroot3.1.zip
and reboot
download any app that requires root access and check for example root explorer
it should ask root acess

I use that method, cannot restore any app with TB or install Busybox, for some reason it's root but not completely.
This thread shouldn't be in dev section, and there were bunch of root method threads/posts that could be easily found.

Titanium Backup is an example of such an app. It may incorrectly detect the path to your internal storage for backups, and thus crash on backup/restore. You can fix this by going into preferences and selecting a folder under /storage/emulated/legacy as backup/restore path, not under /storage/emulated/0.

[Help] Rooting failed

I tried to root my Samsung galaxy fame with Motochopper but it failed near the end. Then I tried to do it manually using cmd and instructions found on a different forum. But that failed aswell. I then used SRS one click root but it said Cant mount system (or something like that). Then lastly I used Framaroot 1.9.2. There was only one exploit (Aragorn) and when I went on it it said Failed. The error code for that was Error Code #7.
So can anyone tell ne if my phones impossible to root. (BTW Im on android version 4.1.2 Jellybean.
