I am not 100% sure if it goes in this section for Sprint s3 if not let me know and I'll repost in correct spot.
I use Google's Play Music on my phone and I have tried to use the equalizer that came installed, it says MuiscFx in my settings but the app isnt actually there? Everything works it seems except the bass booster bar... which I care the most about. I use my phone in my car which has subs.
I downloaded volume+ since I had it for my a tablet to see if it would work and it said it was compatible or something with my phone. I have tried other bass booster apps but they all seem to say they arent going to work on my phone.
I run stock, I have never rooted my phone.
What could I do to fix musicfx to adjust the bass boost bar? Why doesnt any bass booster app seem to work? What is a good or great bass booster app or even a good app to make my music sound super good?
Thank you for the help!

Hi all,
Hoping for a little bit of help here. I'm running the Google Music app on a stock Nexus Galaxy (4.0.1 yakju) and for whatever reason I can't access the bass boost or 3D effect buttons on the equalizer. They are blanked out. I can change the dB levels on the different frequencies but the two aforementioned buttons remain fixed and inaccessible.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you.

I assume you already did try restarting the device.
Any other equalizers or the like installed that could interfere with it?
Good tip. Thx.
Already restarted the phone and I don't have any other music apps or equalizers installed. So that kinda leaves me at square 1.

Weird.
Only thing I can think of right now is: go into settings > apps, find which music related apps are running and try deleting their data and cache. Or try force closing them and reboot again.
You need to have a pair of headphones plugged in to access the EQ I believe.

This is correct, you must have either the aux port plugged in or headphones.. I can't remember if it works with my Bluetooth speaker or not.. I wanna say it does but I'm not certain.

Guys, thanks for the replies.
You were right. I just plugged in a pair of headphones and the bass boost + 3D effect became responsive.
Thanks again for the help

Has anyone gotten DSP to work on ICS roms? I'm flashing the CM9 DSP Manager, and it installs fine.
Opening the application up I'm able to select presets, turn on bass boost, etc, but the sounds effects to not activate (no change in sound). They say they're enabled, but they're not.
I've tried on ROMChicago, Darkside, BulletROM. I've tried on a handful of music players to verify they were not overriding the settings.
Please don't refer me to PlayerPro or a different app to improve my sound-- I've purchased them all and tried them all, to my ears, there's no better sound than with DSP Manager setup properly.
Thanks,
TL
Works find here with beats audio mod. Only works with stock music player.

AOKP with beats mod for the SG2 and with working DSP from CM9. I searched and found them all. I use Power amp though. I wanted to see if I can make it work, and it does

So you can turn on a song, then open the DSP Manager UI, enable and disable bass boost, and noticeably hear the difference immediately?

DSP manager dynamic range
Hi,
I installed Darkside Evolution3 v7 ROM and I noticed that dynamic range really gives good results.:good:
When I turn it ON it works fine for a second or two and then the sound gets really messy.
When the volume is changed works again and in a second it switches back to a messy sound.
To listen I have to keep pressing volume buttons up and down.
have ay idea about this?
cheers.
This may sound dumb, but did you try adjusting the effects strength. I thought dsp wasn't working for me either, then I realize that it was set on slight. After I moved it to extreme the sounds are way louder.

Ya Ive tried that. when I turn it to the extreme the effect is different but the same revert issue comes within 1 second ov volume change.
But if I go up use max volume (15) it stays that way but the bass is too draggy.

I was just browsing through and found you're post. It's funny because I am having the very same issue with the Darkside Evolution3 v8 ROM. You did a wonderful job explaining the problem I was trying to put it in words but that's exactly what its doing. Turn the volume up it sounds great and then a second later you can hardly hear it. Some things I noticed, it only seems to happen with an audio jack headphones plugged in. I dont notice it with my car blue tooth. Also have you noticed a difference if you just turn off DSP mgr? I forced closed it and it was fine but as soon as I started that process again it had the same effect. It's quite annoying.

I tried force closing it and then the sound effect is totally gone and it sounds like stock player. The issue is only with the dynamic range filter.
if its turned off the issue doesn't come up. I was hoping to upgrade to v8 due to this issue and it seems that there is no luck in that as well.

Hey,
Found a solution to the dreadful issue. Install tasker and add a action which changes media volume
continuously one up and down will not effect your listening experience but will keep the effects alive.
hook the tasks up with a profile and you can make it automatic when the headset is plugged in.
I waisted whole day trying different versions of dspmanager.
Most of the files floating around just repackaged versions sometimes wrongly of basically 4 different builds.
I got 2 different packages... one is working fine with Pandora and everything else but GoogleMusic, the second is working with GM but not with Pandora... rest of the versions give either bad distorted sound or do not work at all.
I am on stock ICS. Which dsp you want?

Im on Dark side evolution v8 stock DSP manager. Beats mods are just the same as the DSP manager.
So tried flashing XSInfinitySound and it works. The Aroma installer version does not work but the zip for NXT devices does. Makes quite a difference. Not my work so here is the link to the original post. XSInfinitySound
Not getting any of the bugs reported?
Sent from my LT28h using xda app-developers app
I have not experienced any bugs what so ever. Also looks like he will have a new update this week. I just wiped cache and dalvik then flashed and rebooted. Does make a difference and removes the flatness of the sound. Walkman still works fine, stock eq works fine, Pandora, and G music.
The stock EQ will not work with Pandora but just flashing this makes Pandora just about perfect. It does work for G music and if you hit menu while in the app it has a listing for it. For a little extra controle I use Music Volume EQ from the market. Mostly use it for when I am in the car and to help balance things out to my liking.
Edit: I normally use Audio FX but I can not get it to work on this device. Would be awesome if someone on GB could try Audio FX and see if it works or not. I use the app on my Play with the XS mod I posted and its great. Just put it on a HTC Incredible also with no issues and its running ICS. Going to try and contact the app creator and see if they can fix it.
I been using Pandora only for a while now lol. Mainly because I use it through bluetooth in my car and the smart thing on the phone turns it on when car turns on. I'm not sure if maybe bluetooth doesn't sound as good but I mean to me still sounds as amazing as ever. It is a bit stronger I would say. I haven't tested with other things yet though. My car is also aging now lol. an 03 eclipse but it came with the premium infinity speakers. Sounds amazing on pandora with high quality checked. I'll find someone with decent headphones and try this out.
quick question. when in my car should I have it on headset or speaker mode in the dolby app? I ask because it connects via blueooth like a headset but I'm listening through speakers. I tried both and didn't notice much difference.
I just leave it on headset. Like you said there is not much of a difference between the two. This mod does seem to add that extra oomph to the music. The only thing I have noticed so far is the bass is a bit over driven when Pandora is playing. Think its more the recording quality though as its not noticeable with G music and the Walkman.
araoma does work just have to go into options
Nice. I was reading last night and saw that you had to go to options to get it working. May have to try it out but after reading on the original post it seems I will have to go back to an older nand.
I have Cyanogenmod 10.1, which is android version 4.2.1 on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 3 (SPH-L710). When DSP manager is enabled, mainly Bass Boost, it causes a lot of distortion and it is impossible to listen to music with it enabled. When I had Cyanogenmod 10.0 I had this same issue. I was on the original gs3 rom before flashing CM and was wondering why it is doing this and if it will get fixed or if there is a solution. When listening to songs with Bass Boost at Extreme and the Equalizer enabled at R&B which is my main settings it distorts. I have gotten it to work perfectly for some periods of time, but it reverts back to the distortion. Any help would be appreciated!

This simply isn't the issue. I've had my DPS on my HTC One X work perfectly 2 play-throughs on a song, then on the 3rd play through it became muddled on Moderate Bass settings with Strongest Comp + Rock EQ. I reset the phone and it was even worse and I had to turn Bass Boost off entirely, and it hasn't worked right since.
I'm using Shure 535's which outclass ****candies by a few hundred dollars. I'm still looking for an explanation OP.
I have the same problem on my verizon gs3. Any aosp rom pretty much has the bass problem. The only temp solution i found was to have 2 music player apps. Play music from one and while its still playing hit the home button and open the other player app and play any song. The bass should not be distorted for about 2 songs lol. Its annoying, but the only solution i found for it.

Which kernel are you using, and does it have it's own sound ajustmants? Cause if you are using for example a kernel like boeffla with boeffla sound enabled.. you can have the distortion when using dsp also..
Recommend Turning one of. . I myself used only boeffla sound

Try Bass Booster Pro. It's much better than DSP.

I ran into the same problem. On my Samsung Galaxy S2 (on cyanogenmod of course) bass boost via DSP manager never worked, the sound was always distorted. On my Galaxy S3 suddenly bass boost was working flawlessy with the very same headphones I used on my S2. Then when I switched to the S4 it stopped working again. Since I was getting used to the bass boost I started investigating the issue and found a solution.
LPA (low power audio) is causing the distortion. For some reason lpa was never enabled on my S3, this is why it was working there. In order to disable lpa in CM you just need to edit the build.prop file and change lpa.decode to false. One reboot and everything should work again.
I realise this post is way old but for the first time ever I can actually use DSP manager in CM roms.
Thank you so much!
Thank you mate! You saved my life!
My dinc2 that I use for music and demo mixes on has had some issue playing through the headset since day one and my first question about this never got answered so id like to ask it again, and there is no fix that I've found through search. when playing through aux it has a very low bass and mid tone and I have awesome beats turned off. I use the paid for poweramp app since I loved the equalizer tweaks so it may be interfering but I don't know what the actual issue could be or is. Any help is appreciated fellas.
