Hey Guys,
I noticed that the AT&T OGPro accepts the frequencies:
LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100 - for AT&T
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - for AT&T
That being said, Wind Mobile here in Canada needs the 1700 and 2100 frequencies to work. I've gotten a Galaxy Note from AT&T to work on Wind before, but required some modified radio modems.
Would you guys expect the OGPro to work with Wind without any modifications just based on the phone being able to use these frequencies (as long as it is unlocked)?
Thanks for the advice in advance
James
I'm not on wind, but I just got the phone from New York, unlocked it and using it on fido/rogers. I'm getting full lte, all you need is the right apn settings. Check winds supported frequency, I believe there's is aws, not sure if it supports 1700/2100.

The phone is great. So far the only things I don't like is the at&t address book that pops up when you go into contacts, you can't turn this off, I had to root it to turn it off. Also there is a new update, which you can't download because the phone isn't registered to an at&t account, I'm hoping there is a way around this. The loudspeaker is a little weak, and I find that the wifi connection is really weak, not sure why that is, on my HTC one with speed test I get 20mbps download, from the exact same spot I get 3 mbps, I'm not sure why. That's all the cons I have so far. Everything else is amazing.

Hi guys, I'm currently in Europe right now, I have with me both my brand new TMO GS2 (I had TMO unlock it prior to my trip) but I also brought with me my trusty old TMO HTC G2 as a back-up phone.
I purchased a prepaid sim card here. Sim card already has the APN setting pre-loaded. When I pop it into my G2 I get full HSPA signal and getting 3 mb/s download on SpeedTest, but when I pop the same sim into my TM GS2, it only picks up EDGE with speeds of 200 kb/s download.
I did the "connect to WCDMA only" in the mobile networks setting and then I get no data at all, only phone signal.
I'm baffled since both phones has the same HSPA bands (HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 2100) actually the G2 doesn't even have the 850Mhz band.
Anyone have an idea whats happening and how I can get it to connect to HSPA? I'm here for a month and would really like to use my phone at full speed.
THANKS!
hmmm...That's really weird. What's the SIM card carrier?

TMO customer service has gone to **** over the last year, ever since they moved the call center to the Philippines, its just a bunch of under qualified and under educated clown working there. Last time I called in a tech told me to switch off my phone for 2 hours and when I turned it back on it would work. Seriously?
Anyways..
Orange, Romania is the Mobile Operator, which I'm pretty sure runs 3G on UMTS2100, which this phone has, and so does my HTC G2
My phone currently is running on the de-CIQ'd stock ROM that I got from the developer forum.
I assume the roms has the stock kernel and radio in it. Does the kernel or radio control mobile data? Could switching kernels or radios possibly solve this?
This is kind of a big deal no? I'm sure I'm not the only person that would like to use 3G overseas!
see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Romania
3G only on 900 Mhz or 2100 Mhz
so maybe the area you were in, did not have the 2100 Mhz tower, and only the 900 Mhz towers

Agreed this is most likely. 2100 is NEWER in most GSM countries.
I don't get any outsourced customer service. You're likely 1) Prepaid/Flexpay 2) calling in too much 3) showing out on the phone with the reps

I switched to Monthly4G service as ATT&T insurance...
This can only mean one thing then, the GSII was never supposed to work in europe, and that the HTC G2 and the HTC Desire Z have the same internals and are triband 900/1700/2100 phones.

Hi,
I have just received an AT&T Captivate Glide i927 unlocked. I put my T-Mobile Monthly4G sim card in the phone, and can make/receive calls etc. as expected. I wasnt expecting to get 4G (I'm not sure the radio is capable of operating on TMobile's 4G?) but I only get Edge and no 3G.
I checked the APN settings and they are correct for TMobile.
Could someone advise what I may have set incorrectly? The phone should work at least on 3G, correct?
Thanks!

To partially answer my own question: perhaps the phone won't work on TMobile's 3G. The phone has HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 frequencies, but the TMobile network has (according to Wikipedia):
1900 MHz UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ 3G/4G
1700/2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ 3G/4G[38]
1700/2100 MHz LTE 4G
Does this mean it would only work on 1900MHz or 2100MHz?
Will the Captivate automatically select the right frequency if it's available, for 3G/4G?
Thanks!

If it follows the bands of Apple's phones, your phone should at least get 3G(UMTS) when it does reach your area. The problem is that T-Mobile has not finished their upgrades.
Unless you really have to have 3G/4G, I'd wait until T-Mobile completes their conversion.

Thanks for this astute comment, which led me to e.g. this:
http://www.macrumors.com/2012/05/08...for-iphone-by-end-of-2012-lte-coming-in-2013/
Basically it seems that TMobile 3G/4G may start to work on the 1900MHz band by the end of this year, which would
mean the Captivate Glide would move off Edge and onto the higher speeds.
Hi there, I've been itching to get this phone for a while and I was wondering if LTE would work on the phone if i were to unlock it and use it on the Telus network here in Canada.... I've looked up the stats and all but all i see is that Telus only supports the 700 mhz frequency while I see that AT&T has both 700 and 1700. So would the phone only support one frequency or both? Sorry if this has been asked already....
I know I'm late to the party, and digging up old threads is frowned apon, and SkyeBTCH you probably already decided to get, or not to get the phone, but we can not let even 1 person go unhelped, lol. Any who, I have this AT&T phone unlocked running on Telus, and it definitely does LTE, 4G, & 4G LTE, so pick your poison, and get this phone it is an absolute beast, grrrrr I would rather have this phone over the Sammy S series, Note series, and pretty much every other phone out in the wild right now; real talk...

Hey guys, trying to get a Verizon Note 3 to work on TMO. I have a TMO rom installed in a safe strap, got it all running for the most part, but can't get data to work right. I used the TMO apn posted on TMO's website. When I switch from GSM only to LTE/WCDMA/GSM or WCDMA/GSM, I get no voice data or text. If I look at system status, on the mobile network state, it says Connecting, then Disconnected. And it just sits there and toggles back and forth. Any ideas? If I stay on GSM only, I have data, voice and text, but it's all on EDGE. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I used this apn. http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-8373
1 of two things
1) Verizon model doesn't support GSM fully
2) doesn't support 1700mhz freq which T-Mo uses, it does support 1900 apparenrtly but you might not have that in your area.

If I switch to the Verizon stock rom, I can get HSPA+.
I was under the assumption (maybe incorrectly) that the phones for the most part were all the same. Could I try flashing TMO modems to see if it unlocks the 1700mhz band? I live right by New York city so I would imagine that I would have the better frequencies here.

It is NOT about unlocking frequencies. The phone itself is NOT sporting those frequencies. i.e. Hardware is not there.

Ok, I miss understood then. Thank you for the reply!
let's not forget to mention that one is CDMA (Verizon) and the other is GSM (T-mobile)... or unless I missed it and it was somehow implied?
Hey guys. I ditched mobilicity due to 0 coverage. I unlocked this T889V using the service mode method. The phone is not rooted.
It worked with Fido but data was not working. I called Fido and they told me to [email protected] off because it isn't their phone.
Googled around and found the Fido APN settings. Now data is working but it is only 3G.
Is there a painless way for LTE to work ? The fido SIM is a LTE SIM.
If not LTE then even 4G would be nice.
Thanks !

yep
I don't think the T889 will support LTE on Fido.
www.fido.ca/web/content/phonewarranty/configure_unlocked_device_guide&lang=en
Check out the bands for LTE used by Fido (Rogers) [2100/2600]. 2600mHz is not supported on the T889. LTE needs both bands to work with one for upload and one for download. It will support Fido's HSPA but their network is limited to 21 mbps (theoretically possible). Also check to see if LTE is active in your area for your carrier.
Check out the AT&T note 2 forum here for the topic of t mobile note 2 on AT&T for information on getting them running. AT&T and Rogers devices are very similar in supported bands IIRC. I doubt you will find anything earth shattering though.

I'd wait before Videotron launches their LTE (should be soon-ish) before doing anything too risky. Why Videotron? They also sell the T889V and should upgrade the modems then to enable it, or so I believe.
If you just can't wait, there's always my LTE guide, but there's currently no coming back from that procedure. Also: I don't believe anyone has confirmed if the procedure worked with phones having been upgraded to 4.3.
The Canadian "Big Three" (Bell, Rogers, Telus) have deployed LTE on AWS (band 4 - 1700 and 2100 MHz combined) and 2600 MHz. 700 MHz has been auctionned off and should eventually work on the LTE Note 2.
@Coug76 : wow this page is just wrong about their LTE being on 2100 MHz (band 1) and not AWS and this will just confuse the heck out of people. (I understand some early LTE-capable iPhone and iPad marketing material made the same glaring mistake.) Industry Canada's licensing database will back me up on this one, as well as the ITU's regional frequency assignments.

Working together, we CAN convince Fido to change their minds about what frequencies they REALLY use vs. what they publish as a reference for their customers. Power ti the people!
I don't think I will bother with a sternly worded letter to the editor. I'll leave such limited actions to those who take these things lightly. Matters such as these demand immediate, clear, and unequivocal intervention! I'm calling the Governor General's office. Comrades, we can start a letter writing campaign! We can't fail when Industry Canada has our back...
