[Q] Multiple problems after factory reset on rooted i8150 - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hello,
I did a factory reset on Samsung galaxy w i8150 (via settings-->privacy etc), which was rooted using recovery method (xda link) and with its stock ROM (no customs). After that, I have the following problems:
1. After inserting PIN password, it stuck: keeps loading with message: “unlocking SIM card”*. I am getting out of this by pressing for 3 seconds the “lock” button and selecting “flight mode” *. After this, it enters to the home screen, with the problem 2 message:
2. “process com.android.phone terminated unexpectedly. try again.”, with only option: “compulsory close”*. This error sometimes reappears after some minutes/hours.
3. Seems like I lost root access. The superuser app exists (and I updated it) but root checker informs that “the device has not proper root access” and programs that require root don’t work properly.
4. Cannot connect to wifi! It stuck on “obtaining IP address” *. Already tried: router without security and router with WPA security. i8150 could connect to this router before factory reset. I only tested on one router. I do have internet over 3G.
* My phone has Greek language so the translation of messages may not be exact.
Already did a lot of “googling” over all the above problems, gained some knowledge but not enough to fix it…
Questions:
1. Is re-rooting with recovery method (xda link) safe?
2. What should I do?
Semi brick?
Thanks for reading,
thanks in advance to everyone who can help

is it possible, without proper root access?
Also, i tried to restore stock with kies, but just before the final step it shows a message with "chinese" characters and it quits.

how laggy do you feel, when how do you fell laggy ? i think u just remove the system app who not giving feature good for you, and u just install init.d and install tweaks and your handheld is for what ? gaming, or just like internet

It was getting too laggy, believe me. No gaming. Normal use except for i have 5 mail accounts with 20-30 mails per day.
When i was rooted, i had stopped (with root app delete) some apps from running and now that I am not properly rooted, i cannot start them over, so this is why (i think) there are problems (that i wrote at my first post)...
Is there any hard reset that will bring my phone back to the exact facotry settings? already tried hard reset using stock recovery mode.
If the only solution is flashing firmware again, what firmware do i need for Greece?
phone details
I8150NELM3
kernel
[email protected]#3
GINGERBREAD.XXLMB
PDA LMB
PHONE LM3
CSC LB2 (HTS)
Also, i re-rooted with recovery method and nothing changed.

Every ROM has every language preinstalled.
I "solved" the problem by flashing cwm with odin and cyanogenmod 10 with cwm.
2.3.6 is gurbage. Extremely slow. But cyanogenmod 10 is absolutely great, it works pefect without lagging. It is like buying a new phone.

[Q]Is there a "true" factory restore for T-Mobile Galaxy S II?

We received our Samsung Galaxy II phones a few days ago.
My wife had a Swiftkey and Swiftkey X keyboard apps in her Amazon appstore account. She installed Swiftkey X, and she was presented with an "update" that showed Swiftkey (not the X; apparently this is an issue with Amazon appstore based on Swiftkey site). Thinking that it was an update to the Swiftkey X, she apparently applied it, and immediately there were number of FC notices (she remembers seeing TWLauncher among them) and a spontaneous reboot of the phone. Then, she couldn't get online either through WiFi or 4G. At that point she gave the phone to me to fix it
Comparing her phone side by side with mine it is very clear that there's an issue with network connectivity. While mine flies through the pages, market downloads, etc. either on WiFi or 4G, hers get stock for 3-5 seconds before opening pages or sometimes just displays a "webpage cannot be found" or "connection error".
I went ahead and did a factory restore, but that seems to only delete user account, personal files, etc. if I understand it correctly. Moreover, the issue is still there after the restore. So, is there a way to restore the system files to stock as well? Can it be done without rooting, or does it require loading a fresh ROM?
Sorry for the lengthy message and thanks in advance!

Everything goes back to stock.
You need to either:
1. Root
2. Install CWM through ROM Manager
3. Flash this
Or:
1. ODIN flash CWM
2. Flash this

Thanks again for the replies. So, I'm going to have to root it and put a stock image back I gues... I was hoping that SII had a fail safe similar to Nook Color where you can easily go back to stock if something was not right.

Alright, I'm halfway through. The rooting process for the SII is little different than NC, but the principles are the same.
By the way, is it safe to assume that some conflict between SwiftKey and SwiftKey X caused the problem on her phone? The reason I ask is because I'd like to put SwiftKey X on my SII (it has multi-language support) and I dont want to deal with the same issue if it was the culprit.
I believe I did enough reading at this point
Since this doesn't involve rooting (now I understand it), I'd like to get an "OK" from the guru before proceeding with the following "as newbie as it gets" steps:
1. Install Odin (v1.85)
2. Install Kies for the recent GSII drivers
3. Make sure Windows recognizes the phone in ODIN (seeing <ID:0/004> Added!! in the message box)
4. Turn off the phone
5. Turn on the phone by holding both the Vol-up and Vol-down buttons and plug the USB cable in while still holding both buttons
6. Select volume up button to proceed to download mode
7. Start Odin
8. Check the PDA button in Odin and browse to “T989UVKID_HOME_SGH-T989user_CL594724_REV00.tar.md5” file
9. Click Start in Odin and let it flash
10. Once it completes and reboots…..
Is that it? At Step 10, it should boot into a 100% T-Mo stock, right? Just to be sure, I’ll perform a factory reset after that point and start all over with the user files, apps, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Sounds good. But if you look in the stickied threads top of this forum the drivers for our phone are posted. No need to install kies but that does work also

The "factory reset" you used IS the fail safe. The parts that "factory reset" doesn't remove is the part that won't be messed up unless you are rooted. So I don't even know how you touched /system etc without rooting...

Just finished flashing the stock image and everything worked as expected. This was also a good practice to learn how to restore it to stock in case something goes bad.

The issue was created after installing a 3rd party keyboard and -by accident- applying an update that was supposed to be for a slightly different version, which resulted in numerous force closes and random reboots immediately. I might be wrong here, but that indicates that more than just the user files were affected, since deleting just user files via factory reset didn't help the network problem. However, flashing the stock image -without rooting- took care of the problem.

[Q] Newbie questions

Hi all.
My first post here and a couple of questions.
Per instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195283 , I was able to root my phone using TWRP and odin.
The phone works fine but many of the apps are missing (maps, youtube etc). I was able to download the maps 6.14 apk and install it, but the gps takes forever to lock now. Is there a s2 specific app that was somehow wiped out by the rooting process?
Also, the stock browser is set to full screen, but when typing in the address, the address bars flickers on and off and I can only see the google search suggestions untill I press the keyboard again. Im using stock samsung keyboard.
Don't know if it's normal, but the phone doesn't pull my contacs from the sim card before or after root. I used to have HTC Mytouch from T-mobile and the names and phone numbers all came up as soon as I insterted the sim card into that phone when I bought it 2 years ago.
Thank you.
Sorry forgot to add.
The phone is ( was?) stock JB 4.1.2 (t-mobile) and the only thing I did was root it.
The only thing I can think of is to re flash the stock ROM in Odin. Then redo installing recovery. I followed roughly the path to root you described and didn't have any problems.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you know if the settings and data will be wiped out if I try to reinstall ? I dont have a spare phone I would hate to lose the apps and the texts and etc.
Well, if you have twrp, install it first and make a backup that INCLUDES the preload partition as well as data, system, cache, etc. Then you don't need to worry. But odining stock job over stock job should be harmless since it won't overwrite data -- just be sure repartition isn't checked
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Well, unrooted, rerooted, wiped clean, reinstalled stock 4.1.2 and nothing ...
The gps is crap with all the .conf files tried. And no matter what, once I install SU , the damn apps disappear after reboot. Plus considering that it's a 1.5mhz processor, its slower than my old HTS 1.2mhz Mytouch and even 1mhz ZTE warp. Probably gonna send it back. Too bad, since I like the screen a lot.
You're missing apps can be redownloaded from the play store. As for your GPS problem, download and follow the instructions to install AGPS from this thread and you should be fine.

Thanks , but I already tried that.
As for the apps, it's really not a big deals, but the fact that the SU app makes them disappear is a bit of a concern. , plus the fact that gps works like crap even after the patch and several new gps.conf files , make this phone an overpriced and kinda overhyped toy. Frankly one shouldnt be looking at patches and fixes on a phone this "good". If an old ZTE and Htc work without a hitch, then this thing is about $150 too expensive for what it is.
And for the life of I cant understand why wouldnt sucksung put a damn led light on the case to alert the user of missed calls or texts instead of us having to resort to the nolite and such..
Thank you for all the help though).Thank you though for the help.

Appreciate the advice.
But Ive done that already. The gps ,when it does finally lock, takes forever. Regardless of the .conf files. And no matter what, after SU gets installed and the phones is restarted some apps are simply gone.
Instead of stock ROM I would give you the suggestion of trying out cyanogen mod since imo its actually much better everything wise over stock ROM
Give it a whirl and tell us what u think

[Q] Galaxy Ace II i8160, startup error always with all new roms

Hello and happy new year ,
Οver three months I try to flash my mobile and always writes me the same error "unfortunately, samsung setupwizard has stopped" . Τhe device always hangs at the point where I choose system language on screen. To be able to work on my device should I have make it "flash" with version of android 2.3.6. Ι have tried to do "flash" with roms too, "pac-rom android 4.2.2" and "10.2 cyanogenmod", and always my device hangs at the point of the loading logo. I've done "flash" with these roms , as stated above, in my friend's phones ,same as mine, and has been correctly installed. The devices are not stuck like mine and working properly. Why my device is not working properly as the other? I am disappointed . I would like to help me :crying:

I have done what you say, my friend. When I "flash" the original version 4.1.2 and start my device by choosing the language system writes me the same message "unfortunately, samsung setupwizard has stopped" and hangs there
And something where I forgot to say, without knowing if this is an important point, is that the baseband version is xxxx , not as friend forbidden8 where he says i8160OXXMG2
Flash it with stock jb firmware and then go to Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset > scroll down and pick Format USB storage > then Reset device.
Format USB storage in case there's a malware in your phone.

The phohe has low memory. Its normal when sometimes you got soft-reboot. But after 10seconds, its unsually.
When its soft problem the steps are:
- factory reset (when it not helped do next step)
- go to download mode and flash your rom via odin (when it not helped do next step)
- get root and uninstall bloodware (when it not helped do next step)
- try custom rom (when it not helped its probably hardware problem)
When its hardware problem the steps are:
- maybe is bad connection between battery and mobil, try to remove battery and give back (when it not helped do next step)
- maybe is bad battery , try new one or from other Ace II mobile (when it not helped do next step)
- I don't know , buy new mobile. ( this step must help you)

The restart problem happened to me for the ace2nutzer version of the rom I downloaded here:
http://xda.mister-freeze.eu/XDA-files/ace2nutzer/CM11/codina/cm-11-20150714-UNOFFICIAL-codina.zip
Then I installed the ChronoMonochrome version and it managed to boot:
http://xda.mister-freeze.eu/XDA-fil...m-11-20150730-UNOFFICIAL-codina-universal.zip
However, I still could not get WIFI to work.... it seems that after flashing, the MAC address was set to 00:00:00:00. I know my router will never issue IP addresses to MAC addresses that are all zeroes.

Note 7 Stock ROM Downgrade Help Needed

Hi
I am happy user of Samsung Note 7 but Samsung doesn't care about it, I am totally new to all this stuff and it is only Note 7 which dragged me here, I need some help, I am trying to downgrade the stock firmware but when I try this by using Odin, I get an error message "Sw rev check device 2 binary 1", I know this is because of old and new bootloader difference, but there must be a solution for this problem and I request for this help. I am trying from last 2 days to get as much info as I can from internet but now I am tired,LOL, my note was update on 1st nov and It got restricted to 60% charging but after a hard work I went back to 80% charging again but now I want to go back for 100% charging. I know about Hydra Rom and I installed that as well but I like stock firmware.
so is there someone who can help me? that will be highly appreciated.
Regards.
Yeah, I tried doing it too. But it will be very complex.
1.- Use the Smart Switch app on your PC to backup the phone.
2.- Set the airplane mode.
3.- Delete Google and Samsung accounts.
4.- Power offand remove SIM
5.- Open the latest version of Odin.
6.- Load the Old Stock ROM
Tick and be careful here. To only tick the "Phone Bootloader Update" box. And be very very careful not to un-tick or tick anything else. Specially the Nand Erase That will hard brick the phone.
Then set your phone into download mode and flash again.
There is a risk as the phone reboots to ask you to connect to the internet. Because it will check for updates.

Thanks for reply,
Do I need to load old BootLoader file in BL Tab in Odin? and only F.Reset Time is checked by default and no other option is checked even Auto Reboot is not checked, do you think I should go that way.

I tried HydraRom which is much closer to Stock ROM, i think this is best one if you want your Note to look like stock.
you can't even downgrade galaxy s6 edge+ offical firmware to 5.1.1 i think samsung is stopping all phones from downgrading
Bootloader Version 4 (BL4) can't downgrade with Odin, and i think twrp flash won't work either.
