I flashed the phone over to cricket but the 3g won't stay on, only way to get it to turn on is to switch from CDMA to LTE/CDMA and vice versa and then turning the mobile data off and on. But if you dont use the Data, it turns itself off again. Anybody know how to fix this?

I'm having a similar issue with my Lg Optimus G LS 970 (Sprint) Flashed to Cricket. 3G Does not automatically come on and off. What I have to do is turn off and on the wi-fi multiple times in a row. then the 3G pops on. My data is very slow under 50K down and the 3g times out within 3 to 4 minutes. I tried at different locations around my city. I feel like i'm so close like one setting off.
I have tried re flashing the internet settings with multiple programs, tried simple and mobile ip, I almost think its a setting in the phone. What could be causing the phone not to automatically connect to 3g mobile data? Also why when it does connect the speeds are slow and the connection times out so fast?
This phone is awesome but not having reliable data out and about is killing me.
Oh more thing is it possible to configure the LTE radio on the phone now for when cricket brings LTE to the Portland Market?
Any body have any ideas?
Correction Turn on and off "data" multiple times to start the 3G data.
Simply flash with wireless workshop

Could you point me in the direction of how you flashed your optimus g? Ive flashed a lot of phones but never an lg
I have the sprint lg optimus ls970 & it is current still turned on through sprint. We tried to take it to cricket to flash it over but the rep said the es something was locked...we are tired of sprint and would love to flash ot over to cricket. What are we doing wrong??
Hello. I have the exact same problem you have when I flash mylg ls980 to PagePlus. Did you ever fix this problem? I flash 3G to all phones I do for pageplus. But when I flash my lg ls980 I get an error MIP: 67. I used the modified nv items posted by a user in another forum so the HDR USER/PASSWORD stick. And the settings in DFS all flash correctly. I tried installing the LG Provisioning APK but it never opens for me and force closes. So I'm thinking this problem is with the phone itself. In the settings of the phone. Because what will happen the 3G Symbol pops up. Then when I look in the settings- status, I will have 1x then EVDO. Then when the EVDO connects, the 3G data disconnects. So I'm very sure its a setting in the phone that I'm not aware of. Because the flash works fine. All my HDR/HA/AAA passwords are right. The DFS flash goes through smoothly. So, I'm not sure you know.... =( Look forward to your reply.
where is this modified nv item ?

Any update for this issue? I am having the same problem. I guess the AAA/HA keys didn't stick, so network disconnected after switching to 3G.

This happened to me yesterday after flashing a custom rom! which rom did u flashed? the only way to fix this issue is to jtag! i tried injecting my imei and tried restoring it. none works!
Good morning,
I've been reading the forums for a while for solutions and tips but I am stumped on this one.
So I had stock Epic 4g (SPH-D700) on the Sprint network that was rooted and running CM 10.1 just fine. My USB connection broke so I bought a new motherboard so that I could switch to Cleartalk wireless, which required a connection for them to flash. They flashed the phone and while in stock, 3g data worked fine as well as phone calls and texting. Even stock though, with new motherboard, wifi did not work. It wouldn't even turn on to search for a connection. After rooting and flashing CM 10.1 while on the new Cleartalk network, 3g data now does not work and it gives me this error "unable to resolve host get.cm no address associated with hostname." Wifi still behaves the same. Calls and texts still work but I currently don't have any way to connect to the internet via 3g or wifi. Please help! I don't want to go back to stock just for connection.
Thank you!

Sounds like 2 issues here.
1. You probably forgot to connect the wifi antenna when you swapped motherboards.
2. You don't have your APNs configured for Cricket after flashing CM10.1.

1. I will double check this as soon as I can.
2. Any idea how I can go about configuring the APNs? I saw a solution where I backup the APN's with an app while in stock then restore once CM 10.1 is flashed. Will this work for me?

****, no it's not lol. Sorry, I misread. There isn't a ClearTalk thread in our dev forum that I'm aware of. You may want to search the entire XDA site and even Google for that carrier's APN info.

No problem. I will try some things and update this thread with the progress. Thanks again!
So it isn't the hardware connection for the wifi problem. I checked everything and it still didn't work. I even reinstalled the old motherboard to make sure I had all connections right and the wifi worked fine. I just discovered the Bluetooth also doesn't work.
I haven't tried repairing the APN yet, I will update after I try.
Using "APN Backup and Restore" did not work. The app runs and says it is successful but doesn't actually restore the APN's. Or it does and that isn't the problem.
I have a S3 i747 and have tried several different roms and always lose my LTE. After install it jumps back and forth between H+ and 3g it never stays on one. Yeah that happens when going back to a tw rom from an aokp. What you have to do is backup your current rom, restore a backup of your stock rom once you're in there go to more settings you should find the option for lte in there choose it wait for it to connect and once you're connected just restore you're rom and you should have lte.

This is slightly different than the guide posted above and has worked for me every time.
Go into your phone dialer. Enter *#*#4636#*#*. Go to phone information, and find the drop down menu. Select "LTE only". This should force LTE. Then you can select LTE/... Whatever one you want, and it should start connecting to LTE by default. If it didn't work, then LTE is unavailable to your phone for whatever reason.

So if i am not in a LTE area will i still have 4g cause right now it bounces between H+ and 3g. it does not hold H+ very long then goes to 3g for few minutes then back and forth and download speeds are crap. I was getting .22MB.

If you are not in an LTE zone, you cannot connect to it. If your phone says "4G", it is referring to LTE. "H+" refers to HSPA+ which is more accurately 3.5G. If your phone is switching between H+ and 3G, it may just be corresponding with your data activity, where H+ is active and 3G is inactive. It may also be because of poor connection, which could too be why you're getting bad download speeds.

So last weekend I started noticing issues with LTE. I was on the 7/18 build of Mahdi at that time. So I decided it was just a bug in Mahdi but after I flashed back to stock ZVC rooted Odex, the problem persisted. On AOSP, I'd get the LTE icon but no connection to the internet. Now, I'll only ever connect to 3g (or WiFi of course). Then, scared, I did a tot to ZVC and fiddled around a bit trying to get LTE back. Now, I did a tot to ZVC again, then updated to ZVD. I spent a day unrooted and whilst driving to where I needed to be, checked if I had finally connected to LTE. No luck. I've now rooted, and updated the PRL and profile COUTLESS times, and fooled around in the mobile data settings a lot. Under Settings/Mobile Networks/4g settings, it shows my network provider as: n.ispsn. Under Settings/Mobile Networks, changing the Network mode from LTE/CDMA to Global or Global to LTE/CDMA doesn't do anything. Help? I'm in Chicago, and obviously I have an LS980 on Sprint. Also as a side note, the signal bars tend to randomly display an X over them as if I was in a remote place. I don't get service where I usually do. My phone is refurbished, after I got my original G2 replaced a couple months back.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

*#*#4636#*#* doesn't have any affect in the dialer. Hmm, do you know where I could find a separate radio zip?
Okay so I got into the Data menu through the dialer, I looked through all the settings, although I couldn't change them because I don't have my MSL handy. None of them looked bad, so that doesn't seem to be where the issue lies. I also tried to flash the ZVC_Radio_Full from the ZVA to ZVC thread with just a soft brick. I wasnt able to figure out how to just flash a radio image but I did tot to ZV7 and updated up to ZVC, which should have included at least one radio upgrade (I'm not entirely sure how many of them changed the radio, or if it was just ZV8>ZVA. No success. I was able to "connect" to LTE before a profile update, but I couldnt open a webpage or anything that actually uses internet.
Next, I went back to mahdi 7/18, which seemed to be where my problems began (no hate to the dev). After fiddling with the settings more, I have yet to connect to LTE still. I'm on "LTE recommended" under Settings/Mobile Networks/Preferred Networks. In the *#*#4636#*#* menu under Phone Information/Preferred Network Type I'm: "LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)".
Still having issues. Any help is appreciated
I've been working on a fix since a long time now. If you are in SD community then you prolly know me. Anyway I was able to fix this on two of my phones and it's working fine. I tested for 12 hours now. I'll also tell you in the end what problems I'm seeing. I'm also working on a fix for that.
I noticed that a service is started when the fallback happens but if I kill that service the network also dies. But if you follow the below method it safely starts a new service which kills the one that's responsible for killing the 4G/LTE
1. Upgrade your phone to 13B firmware
2. Root 13B
3. Now download Shortcut Master lite app from play store.
4. Now add these shortcuts to your favorites in the "Shortcut Master lite app". You can search for "LTE" and click on search button
LTEBandSelection
LTETestMain
LTE System Selection
CDMAPreference
5. Now click on "LTEBandSelection" and enable all the bands
6. Save and reboot
7. You now need to enable your data and turn off your wifi. Make sure your phone is in Global mode (in settings >> Mobile networks >> System select)
8. After your phone is rebooted open "Shortcut Master lite" app.
9. Now tap on LTETestMain
10. Select Click on CDMA preference.
Now choose Band preference and select "any"
P_REV_Preference ---> "MOB_P_REV 3
This is important.. EVDO Revision --> Rev A
11. "LTE Connect w/o IMS PDN" must be checked
12. Now go back to your main menu in shortcut master lit app
13. This step is very important. Changing the timeout is important. Tap on LTE System Selection
Except "Scan duration" add a couple zeros to all the other timers. For eg: T_mpsr timer (Min) is 200
The fallback timer will reset itself after reboot. But don't worry the configuration is already updated with the new value. For some reasons the shortcut master lite app is not picking it up.
14. Now finally click on "CDMA preference" in the main menu and make sure it has the value you set in Step 10
At step 10 or 13 your network should go away and your phone should complain about "no network". That's fine. just ignore the message.
Now finally reboot your phone. That's it. You should now have 4G LTE and it won't fallback to 3G or H+
The only problem is when I'm on a call my 4G LTE is dropped to 3G/H+. But after I hang up it goes back to 4G LTE after 12 seconds. I don't know if it's an expected behavior. But I'm trying to see if there is a fix for that.
I tested this with Tmobile. Make sure your APN settings are correct.
Not working for me on Cricket (AT&T). Still will always go back to H+, 4G LTE only works when I select CDMA.

Awesome, thank you! worked for me T-mobile.
it initially didn't work but I had to turn data off then on.
It also cycles me to 2g speed for a few seconds sometimes but that may be due to poor signal in building.

Yeah It's due to the poor signal. I got that too. You can check your signal strength using LTE discover app.
But overall it's working fine for Tmobile. I'm gonna try and fix ATT tonight.
Is 13B the main thing in the solution? I've changed these settings before on 11A and wasn't fixed. I tried these numbers on 11A and still don't work.
Also, unless a phone supports VOLTE, it'll fall back to 3G/H for calls.

I tried in 11A and it didn't work for me. So I guess it needs 13B.
So I tried various combinations last night for AT&T/Cricket, but I was not able to get it to work. No matter what I tried, when I had 4G LTE, voice wouldn't work and whenever voice worked, I was back to H+.
If others are reporting that T-Mobile works reliably on 4G and nobody can figure out how to make this work for AT&T, I guess it's time to switch to T-Mobile.

No. Hold on. I have a solution for ATT too. I tried something last night. Actually while I was working on a solution for ATT I found that we don't even have to go through the steps I mentioned in my OP to solve the problem. It boils down to invoking a service and killing a native VZW service.
The ATT solution I have works but in low signal area 4G fades and it doesn't fallback to 3G or H+. I had to recycle data to get 3G or H+.
It's Working!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!
You just made my life much better now!
I finally have a phone which is great and also finally have good reception!

Yes, that same thing happens when you switch to CDMA mode with AT&T. Voice doesn't work then (obviously), but it also doesn't fall back to H+ automatically, when you lose 4G coverage you pretty much lose signal all together.

Yeah I know. I also know why that is happening. Actually I think it's a bug in the baseband firmware. But we can fix that issue by just overriding the command that was sent by baseband firmware.

Root? I just flashed the rooted sys image. That's it. instead of copying it in the FAT32 memory card just copy it to your phone's internal and you don't have to deal with split and merge stuff
If it drops out of 4G on a call then you're talking on 1X. So no video chat, no HD voice and no voice + data?
