I've been trying different ROMs and was curious about what some of you think. I'm mostly trying to find one that works best with the KF's memory limitations. Has anyone used a jelly bean rom that doesn't have browser crashes and/or keyboards disappearing? Thanks

If you do factory reset and wipe data, the latest CyanogenMod (now it's 10.1.2, sorry not allowed to give links)
seems to be stable. Although browser crashes are still there, but not so often.
After some time with various latest CM-based ROMs I have to say that's there are RAM limitations and browser crashes are not so rare. Pity.

i cant access any of my music regardless of which music player i use..
however, if i use solid explorer then i can view everything just fine.
i have searched about this but couldn't find a good explanation.. please help
Good luck, nobody yet seems to know the reason or a fix to this problem, myself I reverted to an ICS nandroid for now. Theres a couple of threads floating around in this same forum related to this issue. Look for sd card problem or something like that.

All I know is mileage seems to vary.
Many users (myself included) have absolutely no problems with JellyBean.
I haven't even tried any AOSP releases yet...I only ran the OTAleak that was converted for Toro users...still no problems.
I tried the I/O leak, Bixie's first version and the latest. Everytime had the same result... missing media. -___-
The only time I got some media to show in the galery was after fixing permissions in CWR and even then most of the media didn't show up

Am I the only person that has problems with Jellybean on DHD?
It often switch off suddlenly...this is the reason why I got back to android revolution hd....but for the few minutes I tried JB I've seen it was exetremely fast so I'd like to find the problem.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks
Try jelly time 10.1, and set your DPI to 160. I am having no issues at all. Using it as a daily driver for weeks now.
I was using ice cold sandwich, and had many reboots, dropped calls, etc.....

See if the latest JellyTime or codefireX has the same problems. It should be fixed in the latest version of each (and I'm sure it's fixed in cfX since I use it).
What version of JellyTime were you using when you had the issues ?

This. Almost all of the R series JT releases have been extremely stable. R15.1 was amazing. R16 was smoother, but it had a few more bugs added. I believe R17.1 may have fixed it, but I haven't used the ROM yet.
Also, have you checked md5 sums? I have never had an issue with a ROM itself having more bugs and issues than stated (Except for battery life on JB roms). If I do, I'll just rewipe and flash.
Working

I've tried the latest that at the moment was R16 and I had many problems.
Yesterday, as suggested, I installed R10.1 and so far I don't have problems.
I though that there's still a problem on the hotspot, but the issue is only on my IPod Touch...if I use the laptop as a user of the hotspot everything is fine.
Thanks Chrism.Bunner!

Since this is my first time posting I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has helped make this forum as good as it is, I have learned so much about my phone from here.
Now my issue at hand is that my camera on my GSM galaxy nexus does not work, since upgrading to jelly bean 4.2 I can't seem to get it to work, but my gallery works just fine, now I have tried multiple Roms, and wiped my phone many times, have also tried with twrp and cwm neither of which work, I have also searched every where on the internet to no avail, is there anyone with any insight as to how I can fix this?
You changed ROMs but did you change GAPPS?

I thought I have tried a few different ones, I guess I am not really sure I know I have tried just the camera and gallery zip from more than one place, and I am running the cataclysm rom which doesn't say you need GAPPS sperate
Just wanted to clarify I just tried installing 4.2 GAPPS and it's still doing the same thing any other ideas

I haven't posted enough times to be able to post in a more appropriate location so I am forced to post here.
I have been having an issue when I download or update an app from the play store. Every time I update or install my phone basically lags out and I can't get any response from any touch. It will eventually catch up and return to normal funciton.
I was curious as to why it is doing this? I am currently running XenonHD stable version 5. It happened on stable version 4 too. I am currently using Franco Kernel 366 but it happen with the baked in kernels on XenonHD 4 & 5.
Any suggestions?
Well it's because the memory used on phones is quite slow compared to the rest of the phone, so whenever you install or update an app, and a large file is written to the disk, it basically blocks all other app from accessing their resources.
It's a general problem on android and one that is not easily solved, because unlike iOS, android does not pause all background processes whenever response to user-input is expected.
I too had this problem. Not on one ROM but several. Changing kernel did not eliminate it even. What worked for me are those roms that are close to stock as possible and gone of all bloatware. Try rasbean or atom. They solved the playstore lag for me.

Of topic, but this is the appropriate section. The dev forum, which is where I assume you desired to post it, is nowhere near the appropriate place.

Hi,
I am thinking of buying a HD 8.9. A friend of mine has it. I tried it for a few minutes, running a few application at the same time: email, a chat program, checkers, cute-the-rope -- no heavy weight here. There is considerable lag when launching or switch applications. I asked my friend and he confirmed the experience.
It's the stock OS. And I am not sure if my friend has overload the tablet with applications.
What's the RAM on this device (Amazon does not seem to have it in the spec)?
Is this expected with this tablet? If so, is this something can be fixed with a ROM?
Thanks
It has 1 GB of RAM, which is pretty low for a tablet. I do not know if putting a custom rom will fix the lag, as I have not been able to flash one.

1GB should have been sufficient for the applications I run. None of them are that memory hungry.
Regarding the ROM, there seem to be several ROM around. Do you mean the device you have is locked somehow?
Thanks

In order to flash custom roms, you have to install a second bootloader. So, yes, technically the device is locked.

Often time a good clean up of things speeds it up. Apps like AdAway and Greenify can greatly increase speed as well as cleaner apps. Kindle Fire's are not really slow at all but to maintain the speed some maintenance is needed.

Search leads to problem with boot-loader on 8.3.x. Is that still the case?
Thanks
