SGS4 Flasher can handle .img and .tar.
But yep, for people who are not using the flasher a recovery flashable .zip is useful

Is there a recovery out that works with the I9505G / Galaxy S4 Google Edition yet? The I9505 one works for installing zips, but doesn't mount data, sdcard, and emmc correctly so backups don't work.
Work with ROM Manager ?
I am using Omega 8.0 and your CWM 6.0.3.3 touch. It works fine. Thanks. But ROM manager
can't work with it. Especially, it won't recognize external SD. How can I fix it ?
Thanks for your help, in advance.
Is it a 64gb exfat sd card? If you are using one get the wanam or audism kernel. They support exfat.

Try TWRP
I just wanted to let everyone know that I flashed the TWRP file and then ran loki-doki and the phone would not boot properly. I was getting a secure kernel failure error message with the yellow triangle. I had to boot into download mode and then press the volume down to reboot and then the phone would boot up properly. I was unable to get back into recovery. Every time I rebooted I would have to go into download mode to get it to boot right.
I had to install the TWRP img file from their site using a terminal program on the phone to fix it.
Great! :good: I install ClockworkMod 6.0.3.3 touch and works very well, android backup of 3.8 GB in ten minuts :fingers-crossed:

They got it working on the cdma, maybe we can port the libs to our device?
Some month ago I have compile clockworkmod recovery from my computer source and could have "power off" support and correct "partition SD card" option.
It's 5.0.2.8 version. Could you just post it in your thread with my name please ?
"They got it working on the cdma, maybe we can port the libs to our device? "
I don't think ,that was the old version 1.x of the recovery without touch.
I try to compile 2.x version :/

Wow! It work! Lol. Thanks youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Love it :good:
I've flashed the Clockworkmod-5.8.4.3 recovery but there's one problem : When I go into recovery, there is an error involving the ext partitions so it doesn't recognise them. Can't make a nandroid backup too because of that. Am I the only one with this problem?

Hi,
I have a Bell Galaxy S3 that has TWRP installed right now, but for some reason, only about 1/4 ROMS I try to flash on it lately, doesn't work. I would like to give CWM a try again, but I can't seem to find a way to flash it back. ROM manager doesn't give me the option and I can't find an up to date flashable TWRP or ODIN .tar file.

I'm in a similar position with TWRP already installed but ROM manager gives me the option to flash CWM. If I use ROM manager will it still replace TWRP? I'm assuming it does, but I wanted to double check first.
PS I'm running an LG Optimius 4X HD, but a Google search for my question brought up this thread, which saves me starting my own.

I would not use Rom Manager. I would download a flashable zip made for your phone and flash it from TWRP. Alternatively, you could install it via adb/fastboot.

Thanks for the suggestion - is that done just by putting the zip onto the phone and using the "install" function in TWRP, just like flashing ROMs?

Yes. Personally, I used the latest release of Philz Touch which is based on CWM. There is a version that can be flashed via a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) and a tar version that can be flashed in the PDA section of desktop Odin.

Now that you've got the recovery working, you can try any other touch based recovery like PhilZ Recovery or PX Recovery and don't use stock ROM as custom ROMs are faster than stock ROM, now that you've got a custom recovery, it wouldn't be so difficult for you. :highfive: :fingers-crossed:
But first confirm that the recovery or ROM you are going to flash will work with Canadian Gio (GT-5660M) or not or you will have to use ODIN again.
If You Want to Keep TWRP, you can flash the updated version (Released Yesterday) from your current recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728689
as the version you currently have is one year old.

well i took that file from freegee folder, maybe you must flash this file first
Download CWM OR TWRP without any hassle
Just download freegee(root) from Google play store and once installed and opened ....let it download the necessary....then just click on cwm or twrp as per ur wish ......u might then feel as if the app has frozen....but it is the process of downloading...... And once finished it will show flash successful ....
Works with 4.4.2?
I used the FreeGee app on stock 4.4.2 V20c earlier, but it bricked my device. Why is that? How do I install a recovery on 4.4.2?

I would like to install a CWM touch variant, is there a way to get it done with KK stock rom?
I know it needs to be "lokified", but I have no clue how to do this.
Is there any tutorial to do this?

Philz touch cwm is a good one, you can find here on xda, or via Google search. However, my personal experience with cwm touch variant on e980 is that it causes the recovery bootloop (where you just keeps on going back to the recovery screen). Version 6.0.47 is stable , and will not cause the boot loop say when you try to open the recovery by using the up volume + power buttons. This seem to be the issue too with the cwm provided by cm update in the developer's option. Read the postings in the Philz's thread if you want to know more about the recovery loop and the touch cwm.
I get wrong date and time whene i make a backup. I have a E986. How can i fix this?
