Well I dropped my phone a few days and now all I have is a black screen. I figure I need a new digitizer and lcd screen but all the parts for the t989 are really expensive. So I was wondering if I could use the digitizer/lcd screen from the Sprint Galaxy S2 D710 since both our phones have the same sized screen, that way I could save myself a lot of money.
Hopefully someone can help me out I'm already tired of using a blackberry!
anyone?

Oh no lol a blackberry ewwww lol, it may work, but remember just because it's the same size does not mean it will work , there may be different connections and hardware issues connected to the different (hardware anyway) phones

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, it may be the same dimension, but it could be completely different hardware lol and that's a whole new issue u don't want, I was without my gs2 for almost 4hrs due to a bad update through kies lol worst 4hrs ever, looked at my trusty backup (zte merrit z990g) and almost cried, luckly it was a very easy fix

Isn't the amoled display different than the one you want to replace? I mean its just the calibration so I guess it won't matter, and I'm almost positive the connectors are different. I would go for it though, and you might learn something too
Well anyways sucks for your screen :/ and that you can't use your sg2

I was just looking through the Droid Razr forum just checking things out, and came across a few complaints about screen blotches and lines when displaying black/dark images, in low lit conditions... what is going on with these Super AMOLED Plus displays? And why just the t989 and Razr??

I wouldn't be surprised if the blotches and lines are on HTC phones. You'll probably won't see it. Samsung might have set auto brightness too ridiculously low. twenty percent is about the lowest HTC phones can go. I think someone said in a review galaxy nexus suffers from the same problem. Also we seem to get the best end of the stick. Because the Droid razor has the problem the worst.

Either I don't have this issue, or my eyesight is getting really bad. I tried the low light test, and did not see red lines or blotchiness. Think this is just affecting a portion of the panels?

no offense, but its probably the latter, cause i haven't seen any other devices that DONT have the issue, I've been through 3 myself, and have played with/inspected dozens..... If you dont have the issues, you've got the holy grail bro, hang onto it and be careful not to drop it on the screen, cause if they replace it, it will 99.9% be the blotchy one we all have. Although, i must say, my newest device also has the latest box date and the problem is the least noticeable ive had/seen yet.

Pics please! I'm not requesting this on hopes of proving those wrong who says they have the "perfect" display. Proof of this will help with narrowing down whether this is just "normal" within the way the manufacturer process these displays or it'll prove that there is an inconsistency with these display with certain sgs2 units, which basically will lead to be a defect.
I'm just sayin!
If there's actual proof showing that some Tmobile units do not suffer with these lines and blotches, this will be definite grounds on requesting samsung to fix this issue!
I'm just sayin!

Yes the esn would have to be clean since it is linked to the chips on the board which the average person wouldn't be able to remove/replace. They are micro soldered to the board and without a machine its pretty much damn near impossible for a human to work with, the.solder points are just too small and too close together for the human hand to avoid cross contacting when soldering

Seriously? What has happened to xda? Just get on ebay or craigslist. If none of that crap matters you will be way more likely to find something legit on proven sources on ebay then starting a thread.

I rather buy it from people that know about phones and where they would most probably be alot kinder, then from an ebay seller from a corporate (Eg All-tech) that know nothing and cannot answer my questions. I was tempting to put my phone into recovery mode, It froze and has done this before and last time i pulled the battery... so i did the same thing this time. Only now the phone will not turn on. Plugs in a Jig and nothing. Pluged in power cord and nothing..... Im assuming its permabricked.
I just want to know if it was because it was going to recovery and i pulled the battery? did something short maybe? any educated guesses?
Take out your battery, microSD, SIM, etc. Let your phone sit for around a half hour to an hour. Put everything back in. It might turn on. You could also try getting it JTAG repaired.

Not sure, received it that way from an inventory buyout. It was one of the few products that had been opened/returned? Didn't know if there was a common problem with somebody maybe trying to jailbreak and getting such a problem to occur?
If someone had root and a custom recovery and flashed a ROM but it wasn't a good ROM or a corrupt download or an improper ROM it can cause exactly that. Like I said look up ODIN, it'll set the phone to factory settings and you can be on your way to enjoy your s3
