[Q] Less wifi signal after mainboard replacement - HTC One X

Hey folks,
today i changed the pcb of the Hox (finally managed to find a broken phone so i could use mine again).
But my wifi signal is about half it should be (i m about 1m from wifi router and there is no other network around perturbing my wifi)
I checked connector and they are ok i also changed the wifi cable but didnt changed anything. all other cables are also connected.
One thing i did was pasting a second copper isolation one the one already present, tought i would dissipate more the heat of the phone
but i won t. Now i m not sure if the trouble could come from the second copper sticker.
Did anybody got the same kind of trouble ?

S3 white antenna wire question

I broke the connector on the motherboard by the SIM card where the white antenna wire connects to the board. It just broke right off trying to disconnect the wire. My question is, is this wire important?
I am not even sure if it's for wifi, cellular or an antenna for both.

If i recall from the last time i had my phone apart (over a year ago) its the wifi radio antenna, which just runs up to the top of the phone near the earpiece and connects to a metal plate to give a bit more area for the antenna to work with. You phone will still have wifi, but there is a good chance the reduced antenna area could affect the range at which you can detect/connect to networks. Having said that you are only losing a couple inches of antenna area so you may not even notice much of a difference.

WiFi connects only in close range (need to know Antenna location)

Hey all I posted about my wifi problem before, I have V30N D855 32 gb rooted G3, I have 2 routers at home, which my phone connects to them only when am lik 1-2 meters away from the router, otherwise I get "Saved" under the network name, not talking about wifi in public where I just end up with "Saved" all the time,
I am wondering if someone knows where is the Antenna Cable is located inside the phone itself? maybe it's an antenna cable issue that I just need to screw to get better wifi
thanks
Not sure where it is, but see if you can find one of the many teardown videos on YouTube, they show every part in the phone. I had the same problem with my iPod Touch 4g, it stays connected once it gets on but you have to be close to connect it. It does sound like a hardware issue, but the part should be pretty cheap on eBay.

ZENFONE 2 ZE550ml very poor wifi and bluetooth signal.

Hi guys.
I'm having big trouble here with another zenfone 2 ZE550ml.
(It was left switched off for almost two years!!)
Now when i powered it up!
I noticed that , It's WiFi and Bluetooth signal range has become very poor. It has become so weak that
The WiFi bar shows full only next to the router but no signal at all in a few feet (2-3) distance from the router.
And the Same condition for the Bluetooth too.
I have tried resetting several times but no result.
(My SIM connections are good as new Though!!! They are fine!!)
Here is some info,
[After resetting.
The firmware version was.
2.20.40.9(something)
Then auto updated (150MB) to
2.20.40.120
And some minutes later,
It took another auto update (91MB)
To 2.20.40.156]
I thought it would help, but it didn't do anything!
The WiFi and Bluetooth is still in the same condition.
(Very weak signal. Becomes strong only when I put the phone on the router !!!.)
Please help.
Is there any way it can be fixed ???
(Is the device's WiFi & Bluetooth chip got damaged??
How do I check if they are?)
Maybe the wifi antenna has come off. You need to remove the back and the screwed on backplate. It connects in the bottom right corner by the vibration motor.

Thanks for the reply.
Did you mean that black wire which comes from the motherboard to the Board that has the USB port?
I'm sure that the wire is connected.

If it is the cable.
Then I am sure that its properly connected.
Though, still there might be problems.
I will check it out.!
BTW,
Are you sure That the coaxial cable is the WiFi antenna?
I mean it could be the Mobile network antenna.
As my phone network is doing great!
And where can I get a full diagram for this device ?
I mean "what part is for what" in this device!
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I have the same problem. I recently changed the screen and I though it was a complete success but no. Wifi and also bluetooth works as you describe.
I think I probably broke the coaxial antenna cable or maybe it's related to the usb+bluetooth module. Any solution idea of how to fix it?
Should I change the cable?
Thanks

Unfortunately, I have same problem. I recently changed the screen and have week wifi signal.Totally same problem.Any idea?
The WiFi/Bluetooth antenna are on the top of the motherboard near the power button. Check the spring contacts there. Gently lift up those contacts if they are depressed and make sure the rear cover contact points are not corroded. If corroded, scrape them off and you should be good to go.

Sudden loss of 3G signal after replacement USB port (even when original replaced)

Ok, I've got a old Note 3 still chugging along. The USB port was starting to get so loose I was having difficulties even with new USB cords. So I figured I'd swap out the board as it's a pretty simple swap (or so I expected). This isn't the first time I've done internal repairs, boards swaps, etc.
I replaced the old charge port board with the new one, made sure the 3G antenna cable was re-attached, and fired up the phone. All seemed fine. The connections were good and the speakerphone and mic worked (one frequent complaint of bad replacement boards). But, I was on Wifi and didn't notice until the next day that... Mobile data would drop frequently, my phone would frequently go to 4G only (something I rarely saw previously, it's usually straight into 4GLTE here in Chicago) and mobile data was very unreliable. Frequently I'd lose all bars and even if it was showing 3bars and 4G (not LTE), I wouldn't have data. I rarely do calls so I'm not sure if calls would go through.
So I opened the phone again, and checked the connections. All looked good. I used my fluke to test continuity from the ground side of the cable on the motherboard through to the pins on the USB chargeboard (where they connect to the outer back case antenna). All continuous. Resistances are all very low, even on the old board. Still messed up data and cell signal. Hmm, the lower antenna is only the 3G connection I think. Perhaps I have a bad charge board after all. I swapped the original USB board back in, but it still had the same problem.
At this point, I'm not sure what the issue is (other than I have a big problem). Is it possible the antenna embedded in the rear housing is bad or was damaged during removal? I cleaned all the connectors multiple times (first with isopropyl, then with DeoxIT Gold). I have my previous Sprint Note 3, but I don't know if the 3G antenna would be compatible (perhaps it's close enough I could use it to test). Anyone have any ideas on what I could have missed?
Thanks!

WiFi/Bluetooth replacement?

Hey (first post!)
I was replacing USB charging port flex cable by myself (and for whatever reason decided to unscrew the main board as well, but put it back in place right after). After I put everything together I noticed that my WiFi signal is extremely low. Also tried connecting to my Bluetooth headset but it has very weak signal and can operate properly within 1m distance, otherwise it starts stuttering and finally disconnects.
So I figured that I might have damaged WiFi/Bluetooth board and need to replace it. However I cannot find any spare parts for it anywhere. I only found one for OnePlus 5 but it seems that most of the parts are different between 5 and 5T.
Any suggestions please?
