Im new to android and came across this forum trying to lean the exact process to root and ROM my S2 on Tmobile.
He explained what he did while he was doing it, but my retention was slow, im going to meet with him again for a refresher on the process but thought i would inquire here some and maybe gain some insight.
He rooted and flashed CyanogenMOD10
It runs ClockworkMod , i guess thats the bootloader?
Installed is
ROM toolbox
ROM manager
After a few weeks of messing with CyanogenMOD id like to try other ROM's
Ive emailed the guy who did the original rooting and ROM install and he gave me some direction.
the first was to flash a completely stock version of android 4.1.2 then flash before new ROM.
Ive perused XDA forums a bit but i think they speak in terms less understandable to newbs like me.
Im trying to find this bone stock version of android 4.1.2 to flash for this phone.( or recommendation)
THEN i would like to try a touchwiz based ROM or two.
any suggestions?
Any a more simple explanation of the process using what i have would be great.
The key is i don't want to "ruin" the root so to speak, how do i avoid that?( what causes a phone to become "UNrooted")
Im experimenting basically and trying to learn.
Thanks much for your patience
OK well the first thing u need to know is that the "bone stock" 4.1.2 version of this phone is touchwiz, so since u obviously own the phone you've already experienced touchwiz, but to better understand what you want u could pm me and I'll help anyway I can, as far as new Roms the process is quite simple, u should first go get twrp recovery, search Google for "team win recovery project 2.5.5.0 for T-Mobile galaxy s2", then download a program called ”Odin 1.85", connect ur OEM usb cord to computer, u will then need to put your phone in download mode, hold vol up+vol down while connecting to USB, u should see a warning, select continue and wala! Ur phone is now in download mode, now Odin should say "added" , in a box on top u should see COM 5 or something like that, select PDA, it should open folders, select the twrp.tar file u downloaded earlier, click start in Odin, should only take about 2min, u will see a green PASSED in a box above, bam u now have the latest team win recovery, now flashing Roms is as easy as downloading them to ur external SD card, doing a full wipe and flashing whatever ROM u want, like I said if u need help pm me, I'll even give u my phone number and talk u through it, welcome to the flashing community, I love my s2 and continue to flash every ROM I think looks better than my current lol

Oh and the actual rooting is very very simple with twrp, it does it all for u clockworkMod is a little outdated and a lot of newer Roms don't like being flashed through clockwork so do yourself a favor and go get the latest twrp, I'll talk u through it all, just hit the thanks button

Edit:
appreciate the replies, ill look into the suggestions. My time is limited so this may be a bit slow going at first.
Thanks
If i understand corectly the phone is already rooted, correct?
For twrp an alternate would be to download "goomanager" from the play store, open it, press your menu button, select "install open recovery script", confirm yes or no, done! WiFi is recommended.
As for flashing a ROM there is no reason to revert to the stock ROM first. Most ROM threads have installation instructions in the OP right after they absolve themselves of responsibility for your shiny new paper weight should things go south.
It requires a few wipes with your new recovery, installing a gapps package if required and a reboot, easy.
yes the phone is already rooted and i want to make sure i dont UNroot it if possible.
I want to use the method(s) that are MOST reliable and "user friendly" so to speak.

The only way to "unroot" ur device would be to Odin back to stock using a completely stock tar file in odin, u should be all set with the above mentioned methods, if Odin is not ur thing the def download goomanager from play store, u have to be rooted to use this app so make sure before u waste it time, after u have twrp installed all u need to do after that is download whichever ROM tickles ur fancy, make sure it's a t989 ROM though or ull have a nice stylish paperweight, make sure to do a full wipe and flash away, just make sure u read, read and read some more, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS! , and u will be fine, welcome to the community

where i can choose my device, BUT it doesn't list the S2.

Just to double check...its 2.6.0.0 not 2.6.6.0 ( that was a typo in your reply im presuming because i didn't see a 2.6.6
Edit, from you original instructions, i cannot get it into download mode.
Odin says connected in the message box on the lower left
it says 0:[COM8] ( highlighted in yellow) in the row titled ID:COM
i can add the TAR file to PDA, so i tried to "Start" and it says FAIL ( highlight in on of the larger boxes)
Does the fact that this has Rom manager and ROM toolbox and cyanogenMOD 10 already installed present and issue?
Ive Googled download mode for TMo S2 and several places said to power of , and restart folding the volume down/home button but that doesn't work either( to get to download mode)
EDIT: VOLup/VOLdn while pressing power seems to have worked, power up to accept warning, screen now says:
at the top left of S2 screen:
ODIN MODE
Product name SGH T989
Custom Binary Download NO
Current Binary Samsung Official
the the android guy in the middle
and below it it says
DOWNLOADING
Do not turn off target !!
Good to go?( add .tar to PDA and START in Odin)?

Yup exactly your good to go and yes sorry about the typo its 2.6, yes once your into DL mode and connected to Odin just press start, Odin will take about 5min to do its thing, do not touch the phone while Odin is working even if u think it's taking to long, don't touch, if u interrupt Odin u will have a bigger headache, not unfixable but def a little harder for an inexperienced user, when she's done Odin will give u a green passed box, then your good to go, just boot into recovery, ( hold vol+vol- and power until u feel herc vibrate then let go of power button but continue to hold vol+vol-) u should see a teamwin screen, from there do a full wipe under wipe/advanced (don't wipe your internal or external storage, just dalvik, cache system, data ) go back to original screen and go into install, find the ROM u want in your storage, select and flash, make sure that if your flashing a asop ROM u flash gaps as well, after flash select reboot system and let herc do her boot process and u will be good, pm me if u need help

ok, i loaded the tar and hit start.
it only took about 10 seconds for ODIN to give me PASS in the larger box,
Phone rebooted itself and seems to be in normal mode so to speak.
It is unusual that it did this so fast?
Is there a way to test the success without actually changing the ROM?
This is what it says in the message box in ODIN:

Does it matter where on the sd card i place it? IE twrp will let me navigate to where it is?

It's been a long while since I've been here. I've been using the same old ROM for ages now and it's never worked great, seems like it uses the phone's 3G only and has trouble picking up and sending SMS among other things. Basically looking to be pointed in the right direction to fix up my phone. Is this how to thread for restoring T-989 T-Mobile phones (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513359) relevant to my phone? How do I go about discerning between all the various ROM options available?
edit: In particular I'm wondering how to format the device to cleanly install something new, currently looking at Cyanogenmod.
Well I decided to just steamroll ahead and much to my chagrin my phone is now useless for the time being. I am trying to set things right but I can't for the life of me find a ****ing copy of the md5 or tar file for this thing to use with ODIN. Could someone please help!

Start searching these forums, you'll find the answers. Search for Telus, Hercules, darkside super wipe. Those three should put you on the right track.

Thank you for responding, performing this search leads me to the thread that does not state the Telus SGH-T989D as being compatible with it.
So far here is what I have done:
-wiped everything using CMW then installed Cyanogen 10.0
-this leads to the device hanging at the load screen - gave it more than an hour
-installed Samsung Kies and rebooted
-wiped everything and then used ODIN to flash a stock Telus ROM
-ODIN appears to hang and not complete
-I searched for reasons why this might be and any solutions I could find so far have not worked
I still have CMW but unfortunately I can't get ROMs on the SD cards to see if a different one than Cyanogen 10.0 would work.
Which version of CWM? If you are on 5.x you should upgrade to 6.x or (even better) TWRP.

v5.0.2.6, strange thing is I downloaded it from the play store today or yesterday so one would think I'd have an up to date version. I've read about going into download mode but the instructions just put me into CMW. Odin3 is v1.85.

So holding volume up + volume down and plugging the USB cable into your computer takes you to recovery?
I can upload a newer cwm or twrp tar Odin file if you can get into download mode.
Hi try downloading Embryo, it's a fantastic ROM. I flashed using cwm 5.x.

I had to hold volume down and plug in the usb to get to a warning screen for download mode and then use the volume up button to accept but it was successful. I tried flashing the stock Telus ROM I found here (SGH-T989D_TLS_T989DTLKJ3 decompressed to .tar.md5) but it failed. I tried flashing a T-mobile stock ROM and it didn't complete.

Problem was resolved all thanks to meekrawb who went above and beyond to help me out. I believe the issue was my outdated version of CWM in the end.
Really hope somebody can help.
I have had a galaxy note 2 for about 6 months on Vodafone UK N7100.
Today while i was at work i felt something hot in my pocket, my phone was very hot (i was not doing anything with it) The phone was stuck on the Samsung boot screen.
After a few minutes of looking at this i realised it was stuck and removed the battery. SInce then i have been unable to get past the boot screen, i can't get into download mode or reboot mode. The only things to note. When i turn my phone on a red light flashes. When i plug my charger in the charge icon appears on screen but it does not charge.
Really hoping somebody can help.
I had rooted my phone if that helps (it did not cause this problem and has been functioning rooted for months)
Update
Just managed to get to a screen which warned me about installing custom software and did i want to continue. I said yes and it is now downloading something
How did you get to that screen?

this would be your last hope http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32273406&postcount=5 follow the guide properly marked in red and remember to tick re partition in odin, if this doesnt work then your phone has been affected by sds due to 4.1.1 rom so u need to take it to service for motherboard replacement which is borne by samsung so no worries, and remember never to use a 4.1.1 rom in note 2 get the 4.1.2 rom or rather they will install that only this time and in future just go through dr.ketan thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696 here it will guide you perfect instead following some untidy guides

well your reply is quite confusing
1.did you manage to flash the rom with pit in odin. was it successful or you get any errors
2.does your phone start now
3.if not then your phone has died and it needs to be taken to service guys ,but just check what the status of your phone in download mode is it official or custom . if its official then no worries just go ahead and take it to service guys and tell them abt your issue that the phone stopped working while in pocket dont info them that you rooted it ever just make them blv that it was a sds caused by 4.1.1 rom so they replace it free.
i mean your motherboard
Sorry if i am confusing matters.
I did not manage to flash anything it was just coming up with failed no PIT partition.
Current binary samsung official
My system status is custom
Are these ok to return my phone with?
I decided to take the advice offered and download the recovery but got confused.
Do i need all of the files from that link or just 1?
I downloaded the first one N7100XXDMB2_Factory
It contained
boot
cache
hidden
modem.bin
recovery
sboot.bin
system
tz
None of these are the md5 format
i am now thinking i should have downloaded XXDLJ2_OXA_Factory
Is that correct or was i right with the first file. If i was right downloading the first file then where do i get the md5 files required for odin to do my factory restore.
Know these are very noobish questions just doint want to do anything wrong
In answers to your questions....
1) Did i manage to flash the rom with it in odin
No
I got confused which files i should be using and did not want to do anything without being sure
2) My phone does not start
3) When i am in download mode my phone shows

It contained
boot
cache
hidden
modem.bin
recovery
sboot.bin
system
tz
None of these are the md5 format
i am now thinking i should have downloaded XXDLJ2_OXA_Factory
Is that correct or was i right with the first file. If i was right downloading the first file then where do i get the md5 files required for odin to do my factory restore.
Know these are very noobish questions just doint want to do anything wrong

If your phone doesn't have a partition map, then no, you can't.
You can try, as a last resort, using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43760271&postcount=22
I had a similar problem not too long ago (although it started with all apps crashing and then stuck at bootscreen) and managed to fix my phone.

EFS is a part of the system that stores your serial number, IMEI and everything related to your phone specifically. You are generally able to back it up using a custom recovery or using software on your PC while the phone is rooted and booted on the android OS. Since you cannot boot into recovery and also can't boot into android itself, I don't think you would be able to back it up.
If you ever installed a custom rom with AROMA, there is a chance you have it backed up already. But if you don't explicitly remember...

Current binary samsung official
My system status is custom
could they tell anything from that?
Noob here, please be patient.
Samsung SGH-T989D was running CM 9. Did a factory reset as I was planing to sell the phone, but once I did that the phone was stuck in a loop at the boot logo.
Tried upgrading via recovery mode to the new CM 10, but was still stuck in boot loop.
Tried clearing cache, etc...but nothing would work.
So I downloaded the newest stock Telus ROM, put the phone into download mode and used Odin to flash - however Odin failed.
Now the phone won't start and I immediately get the following message: "Firmware upgrade encounted an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
I tried Kies recovery mode but it does not see my phone. Odin still sees it, but wont flash it.
I found this thread for the S2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458.
But I have not been able to find one for the S2x.. Where would I find the bootloader and kernel to flash as it explains in the above guide...
Or maybe someone has other advice?
Thanks for your help!!

Lots of stuff the t989 there. Just be sure you actually have the t989 or t989d.
Or look through our dev section for probably more up to date stuff.

All u need to do is download Odin 1.85 to ur PC, then go to http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules and download the twrp 2.6.6.0.tar.md5 to ur PC, power ur phone on in download mode, the same screen will come up "firmware...issue", kids will do nothing for this and u will need to make sure kids is NOT RUNNING. Odin will not see the device if kies is running at all, now open the Odin program and connect the phone to PC using OEM factory USB cable, on Odin it should say "added", now click the box PDA, find the twrp file u downloaded b4, click on that file and then hit start in Odin, DO NOT CHECK ANYTHING ELSE... Let Odin do its thing and u will be fine, Odin will reboot the phone and u will now have twrp recovery, boot to recovery to finish rooting process

Went to the site you linked but there is no twrp 2.6.6.0.tar.md5
I downloaded openrecovcery-twrp-2.6.0.0-hercules.tar
However, in Odin it still wont flash the phone (I closed all Kies processes beforehand).

I wasnt going to use the files from the other thread, I just assumed I could try this procedure once I got the correct files for the SGH-T989D:
Recovering a soft bricked phone
1) Grab the Recovery Package, and you'll see a bunch of .tar files. Take a look at the names. You'll see CODE, MODEM, CSC and .PIT. Put each one in its place.
2) Turn off your phone. Enter Download mode by presing Volume Down + Home + Power button.
3) Plug in your phone. It will show you, in a yellow box in ODIN, ID:COMx (x being the number displayed, sometimes displays 7, sometimes displays 9)
Now here, take a breath
First try flashing WITHOUT the .PIT and re-partition. And only if it DOESN'T WORK OR FIX then you flash with the .PIT and Re-Partition ticked.
4) Once ready and done all your prayers, press Start. Wait patiently. It usually takes 5 minutes to flash.
Have you done everything correctly until now? Then...
Congratulations on recovering your phone!
You deserve some cake afterwards, and some rest
Now, if your problem is the NAND rw coruption, and wasn't fixed by the above fix, then follow these steps :
5) Download the Kernel. Flash it in PDA. Without ticking Re-Partitioning
6) Successful? Nice, hope is still present.
7) Flash the recovery package, following steps 1-4 This should fix your issue. If it does not, then :
WARNING : FLASHING A BOOTLOADER IS DANGEROUS. FLASH WITH EXTREME CAUTION.
8) Download the Bootloader. Flash it as PDA or Bootloader in ODIN. Without ticking Re-Partitioning
9) Flash the Kernel, as in step 5
10) Flash the recovery package, like in steps 1-4 And that will fix any of your issues
11) After you have recovered your phone, I advise you to have your phone completely up to date by browsing and downloading the firmware for your version through SamMobile!

After trying to update to kit kat my note 2 will not get past the "note 2" splash screen. What sucks even worse is that I can't get into recovery to install a new rom. I've been searching tons of threads and whatnot across XDA and other websites but nothing has worked.
What I've tried:
-Flashing TWRP, CWM, Philz recoveries. Odin says they succeeded but I still can't get to any of them.
-Flashing srock roms downloaded from multiple sources. When I try this I get an error in odin, usually fails right after sboot.bin
-Using other versions of Odin, different usb's, etc. Same stuff happens no matter what.
-Kies, but it won't connect and says device is unsupported.
-Android toolkit, but i couldn't really do much with it in this state
-I even tried re-partitioning with some t0lte pit file. This really didn't change anything.
-I found an "mk4_recovery.tar" file in a thread on here. That finished and succeeded, but I still can't get anywhere, However I did notice that this changed the "current binary" on my phone from "custom" to "official samsung binary." I'm not sure if that is important or not.
I feel like I am running out of options and my phone is hard-bricked. You guys are my last hope and I'm hoping there's something you guys can help me with!! If you have anything I can try please let me know!!!

This happened to me today too. I didn't like the OTA 4.4 so I was trying to get a custom rom again. Thanks to jlmancuso he made the best solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53035491&postcount=287&nocache=1&z=4473536636214703
Simply download the attached file. It is BRICKED heaven! (worked for me.) and have your recovery (twrp, philz, cwm) file. And have Odin.
1) Extract all files fix / recovery (if haven't already) / and odin (again if haven't already)
2) Open Odin in PDA put in the "fix" file. BEFORE continuing, UNCHECK Auto Reboot. (HAS TO BE UNCHECKED)
3) Connect phone to computer
4) Once the file has finished (Odin will say pass) disconnect the phone.
DO NOT TAKE THE BATTERY OUT
5) Put it back in Recovery Mode (home / volume up / power )
Give it a minute and it will load a custom recovery.
If you were stuck at a bootloop you probably don't have a rom on your phone (cleaned and empty).
If so try flashing this in Odin as well (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0CWousOd0ntTHl2RmxPbHJWODQ/edit?usp=sharing}
When the custom recovery loads you can flash what you want.
Odin will not let you downgrade from NE2 to anything below (bootloader). I suggest flash over Philz and flash that way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768847
Has a NE2 rooted already. Flash this and save a backup. YOU WILL NEED IT.
Once in the custom recovery that comes up I suggest to flash the M2 Stock with Count Reset. (back to complete stock) then can do what you want from there.
**If the custom recovery does not show up**
Repeat the steps above (Odin / add fix to PDA / Uncheck Auto Reboot / Connect Phone / start flash)
Then again DO NOT PULL BATTERY ... (once it shows pass) disconnect and reboot back in download mode ( home / volume down / power )
Flash over your recovery ... (do not pull battery) and try the Recovery Mode ... my first time I thought it was still stuck in bootloop so give it a second.

What a nightmare!
I odined back to stock MK4, did the 4.4.2 OTA last night. Then did the CF Auto Root via odin, installed custom recovery. The phone is currently on pageplus network. I started messing around, did the GSM Mod, then tried the international and domestic sim unlock procedures. The result was not satisfying, so I tried flashing different modems. Eventually CDMA works, but GSM not. So I made a huge mistake by attempting to downgrade from NE2. And of course failed. Now the phone can't register on either CDMA or GSM.
So once I flash M2 Stock with Count Reset, I can play with the 4.4.2 OTA zip again to get a 100% 4.4.2 system?

Just curious, did you ever get kitkat to work? I've tried going to MC2 stock then upgrading a couple more times but it ends up doing the bootloop again every time :/ did you ever get that to update?

The best way to do the upgrade (since you know how to get your phone back if it happens again) is to just simply use Odin now to flash the 4.4.2 tar file thanks to "garwynn" for taking the time in making it.

since most of my links don't work after I post lol I'm giving the download too. I tried uploading it but the file size is too big to post. So I hope this link works let me know and I'll re-upload it and post another link if the link stops working. 4.4.2 stock rom .tar

sorry for the late reply but yes you can. I have gone back and forth trying to decide which 4.4.2 works best for service and style. lol right now I'm on 4.4.2 stock rooted (took FOREVER to get rooted I think it just finally clicked in I had given up). but there's already a .tar file for 4.4.2 you can just flash the .tar file and you have a OTA STOCK (unrooted) version of 4.4.2 for SPRINT only. It's the easiest way to get your phone back to working if it' soft bricked or just won't load recovery.
...NOTE... you can UPGRADE flash your bootloader (i.e. ... M2 .. MK4 ...N2) from Odin. You just CAN NOT downgrade firmware via Odin if you're going to go back to 4.1/4.2/4.3 versions. You will 99% of the time get "failed" at write to sboot .. for recovery I recommend Philz as it clears your cache and such when you flash roms and gapps and such for you.

You're welcome lol when it happened to me I wanted to punch a wall or something because I couldn't make a call to help me and there was no way Sprint would have helped me. It took me 8 hours to find it that day lol I had almost started giving up hope
You may already know this, but you also want to read up and see what versions of odin people are having success with. As well as what custom recoverys (and versions) seem to be working.
I used Odin v3.09 with no problems. Heard that others had success with v3.07
Flashed and running Philz custom recovery v6.0.4.5
I flashed update-supersu-v1.94.zip (originally flashed cwm-supersu-v0.94.zip, which DID NOT work). Supersu is a little buggy. On both the note2 and s3, after install apk would fc. Went to play store and updated supersu, supersu will then work (even "partially" disables knox for you)

If so try flashing this in Odin as well (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0CWousOd0ntTHl2RmxPbHJWODQ/edit?usp=sharing}

Two post above you or in the quote above you has the link for fix. You need to follow the first link (xda thread link) and it will take you to my post that has the upload.

Second post in this thread helped me immensely. Thank you!
I broke my note 2 that I had rooted and was running rwilco's mostly stock rom on.
Got another note 2 off craigslist and decided I should root it too for speed and for tethering. Tried the liquid smooth rom and it failed leaving me with no ROM.
Every ROM I tried failed until I found this thread and used Odin to flash "ALL_SPT_L900VPUCNE2_L900SPTCNE2_1561791_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5" that was linked.
So phone is now running 4.4.2 can I safely try again to load a custom ROM?
What do I need to do to make sure I don't have the same problem?
I'm not really savvy with this stuff but I can follow destructions
does any of the above steps wipe internal data?
Hi there. A friend of mine gave me a bricked L900 stuck in the black "Galaxy Note II" screen. The first thing I did was to enter stock recovery, but a bunch of red error messages appeared (as pictured). Wiping data/factory reset didn't do anything. Entered Download mode without a problem and then tried to flash every single Odin firmware for the L900 found on the whole internet, but no matter what I flash, Odin ALWAYS fails. Also noticed that after an unsuccessful flash, still in download mode you can read in red: "sw rev check fail device 3 binary 2". Also, it is not recognized by Kies.
The previous owner said the phone bricked while receiving an OTA update. I have spent a whole week trying to fix this thing! I decided to ask for some help here before smashing it with a hammer.
Any help is much appreciated!

I have something that should fix you right up. I have to find the file so it may take a while to get back to you. I am headed to bed now.

I forgot to mention I already tried flashing a file named "fix.tar" that I found in one of these L900 unbrick threads, but sadly it didn't work (Failed to flash, like anything else). I hope you have different file. Thank you!

Have you tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55712636

I tried, but remember the phone doesn't let me flash anything via Odin. TWRP simply doesn't flash, it instantly fails.

Have you tried using heimdall to flash? It is an odin link software that can be used on window, mac, and Linux.

Trying now. I have downloaded Heimdall Suite 1.4. After installing the included drivers and opening the program, I'm not sure what to do. When I go to "load package" I am unable to pick any of the firmwares I have downloaded. They are not displayed in the window that opens to pick the file (and I am in the right folder). Heimdall is new territory for me! Any suggestion?

You will need to extract the files and use the flash tab. Don't remember if a pit files is included in the tar.md5 package (fyi you might have to remove the .md5 to extract the files) bit if you need one let me know.
On the flash tab select your pit file then add a partition, then select the corresponding file. You will need to do this for every partition you want to flash. Once setup click on the start button.

Thank you. I have extracted the files but Heimdall doesn't recognize them. It doesn't recognize any .tar or .md5 file. I am very familiar with file extensions, extracting, flashing software, etc... but this is the first time using Heimdall and I am very frustrated because I can't make it work. Any suggestion? Thanks again.
You give up on this yet domenicostorino? Looks like according to your images, you just need to odin with an included pit file. Lemme know, I have a pit that works for this device, had to fix one last week. Your images are showing no such directory, so that should fix you.
Edit: Grab the pit from here Use it with stock tar and flash via odin. That is the one I grabbed.
Hey! My Note has been collecting dust on the corner of my desk but I haven't given up on it yet! I would really apprecite if you can share that pit file and some steps. So far, EVERYTHING I've flashed with Odin just fails. Maybe that pit file is all I'm missing! Please help me bring that phone back to life!!

Just grab that pit file I edited with, select it in the pit section of odin, it should check mark the repartion as well. At the same time grab the stock firmware tar. You are going to be doing everything just like you have been, just using a pit file and repartitioning at the same time. Good luck, just holler, I will be around most of today. I used this firmware with that pit. Firmware
If it doesn't boot, don't worry, enter recovery and see if it fixed the can not mount, I don't know which baseband you currenlty have, so that could keep it from booting. If that happens and mounts are fixed, then just grab the last firmware and flash it without the pit file. Here is the latest FIRMWARE.
Remember you flashing tar files, all three of them need to be extracted.
Thank you. I did everything exactly as you said but the pit file didn't do the trick. It failed right away again. Of couse when I enter recovery the same can't mount messages in red appear again.

Assuming you extracted the t0lte.zip to read t0lte.pit and placed in pit section of Odin with repartition checked, and extracted the rom to a .tar and place in the AP section then hit start. Should have worked or did for me anyway. Have you tried different usb cable as well as a different port on pc? <that can cause odin to fail. Also which Odin version are you using? I use 3.09 Odin. Wife's phone went on the blink last week because of a battery failure, nothing would mount after replacing battery. What I described is all I did, she is back up and running with latest stock and rooted now.
After looking at this again, according to the images on first post, you have the latest stock build NE2. I extracted the pit file from the wife's phone and compared to the other. They are the same. At this point I would just try one more time with the pit and the latest stock firmware. If that doesn't work then maybe it is just a bad eMMC.
Here is the extracted pit from wife's phone if you want to try it. View attachment L900_NE2.7z
I did try again many times using the pit file and latest NE2 firmware. I guess the eMMC is faulty. Thanks for your help anyway!

I'm having a similar issue. Phone was charging in the truck, came out to the Galaxy Note 2 boot screen with the green light on, once I unplugged it though, it just died, Any attempts after that and the screen goes fuzzy on me. I can only boot into downloader mode, but everything I've tried to flash via two different ODIN's so far fails almost immediately. http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-sprint/help/odd-semi-brick-t3082102 I'd really love some help sorting this out.
