ARCS's camera button can't wake up phone and open camera.
This always let me feel bad.
Like TX Lt29i, I can press camera button to wake up phone then press it again to take a photo.
It is so convenience to press camera button twice and power button once.
Can some make camera button more useful?
If camera physical button can't do this job, why I need it?
I just open phone and open camera then take a photo without physical button.
Like the movie "hotel transylvania" that guy just press physical button.
When I saw it, I just want to know where I can buy it.
Every time using camera, I complain it that I waste 5sec to open phone and open camera.
If this camera button has its real function, I think it's be more better.
There is no way for make this. Most quick way is: Opening camera from lockscreen

I bellive i have a broken camera button. All keypad buttons remain on and backlight stays on all the time. Feels like the button dose not click any more. Also when turning screen on and off it activates camera app, unless i set that button to 'NONE'
So dose anyone know of any easy way to open that part up and move it back in place or summet?
Thanks.
Is it possible to configure the camera button on Hermes/TyTN with Windows Mobile 6 to automatically turn on the backlight and "unlock" when pressed?
Currently, it takes five actions to take a photo when the phone has been "locked" and the backlight has been turned off:
1) Pressing the "power" button to turn on the backlight.
2+3) Pressing the "unlock" buttons twice to unlock.
4) Pressing the "camera" button to start camera application.
5) Pressing the "camera" button to take photo.
Ideally, taking a photo should only require pressing the "camera" button twice. The "camera" button is sufficiently small and hard for this to work safely.
I expected this to be a common request but I have been unable to find any info or even requests regarding this anywhere.
Kinda defeats the purpose of locking all keys if the camera button can be hit by something in your pocket, etc and activate a full backlight with the camera running. That would be a battery waster real quickly...
As I already wrote, I find the "camera" button to be sufficiently small and hard for this to work safely - except maybe if you have all kinds of hard items of junk in the pocket, too - which I don't and which would probably ruin the screen before the battery runs out making that the least of your problems.

install s2u2, that will provide slide to unlock, one less press! Another better idea, don't set your phone to lock when in standby mode as your pocket has nothing. So, there is no need to lock. That would bring down to 3 press.
there is nothing action when i press my camera button.
i press the camera button, and the camera function doesn't work.
but it still has the carema function in the ROM which i cooked in my X1.
how do i fix my camera button ?
THANKS ~!
Did you break the connector off the board or got it disabled through software?
NO~, just cook the Energy rom.
i can't press the camera button to start up the xperia camera.
But i can start up the xperia camera through ".\Start Menu\Programe\Multimedia\xperia camera".
Also, i notice that, when i start up the xperia camera, i still have the "focus" function....,but just missing "shutter" funtion.
HAHA,can you understand what i taliking about?
please help me.~
i think thats a hardware problem, i believe pressing the camera key on energyroms still opens up xperiacam
and since you have no shutter function that shows its a hardware problem
I can fully understand you, I have same problem. Probably its a HW problem, but after flashing camera button sudenly has been worked. Now problem is back and I have to push at button with power. maybe it will be a feature Not a bug
I have the same problem and its not a hardware thing, i got a new phone for diffrent reasons and it worked till i copy my old system over. I dont really care that much since the camera is crap anyway..but it would be nice to know how to fix it..

it would be more satisfying to have it back as it should be, but i really dont remember if i messed up the camerabutton setting in the registy or if some additional software is missing from autostart that checked this button..
I find it hard to hold the phone steady and tap the onscreen shutter.

Vignette, which is about the best camera app out there - a must have - can do this. Though, pressing down on a button would cause more shaking than tapping the screen, IMO.

There's two modes in the camera button. When you press it lightly, it'll focus. When you press it all the way to the bottom, it will take the picture.
Like a normal camera Don't be afraid to press harder!
