Hi,
I recently converted a couple Sprint Epic Touch 4G to PagePlus MVNO service. I used the CDMAFlash tool to do a half flash. Everything works that I need (i.e. voice, text. No data as I don't need it). The only outstanding issue is the missing LED alert that notifies me of awaiting voicemails. I've searched but to no avail. Could I ask those in the know how I might be able to resolve this issue with the missing voicemail notifier? Currently on official Samsung 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Thanks everyone.
P.S. If this is not in the proper forum, my apologies and please move as appropriate.
Not sure if this works for you. Hit your phone shortcut then settings there should be a voicemail notification option.

OK I know this has been brought up a few times in the CM threads. I get this ghost VM notification on CM6 and on all the nightlys. I also am getting this ghost VM notification on the MIUI rom. I do NOT get this notification on ANY sense ROMs I have tried.
I read this Forum everyday as much as I can. I have tried search. Every thing that comes up close to what I have going on doesn't seem to get fully answered as to why this is coming up on some phones and not others.
I flashed CM6 and a few nightlys on my Wifes phone and She has NEVER received the *86 VM notification.
I am always updated to the most current PRL, PRI and NV. Nothing I have tried will clear this message. On the CM6 ROM I can hit the clear button under the notification bar and that clears it for a little while but then the damn thing comes back.
Can anyone explain this and offer up a FIX. I know I'm not the only one.
Any one have any help on this?

I guess I'm in the club also. Same problem when I was on Vaelpak. Flashed back to stock, rooted, for a while. Now on Fresh.

Thank you Brutus for the input.
I know all about that part of the set-up. This DOES NOT get rid of the Ghost notification. I still will get a notification that I have a voice mail (and YES I have checked to make sure my VM's are cleared out).
Just FYI I use google voice when I am on CM6 or nightlys. Google Voice works great but still will not clear the VM notification.

Dont skip my post I am going to say two diffrent things . First normaly you get the notification because you received a voicemail. The stock rom has a code writen in to block that text so that you dont see the notification when you receive a voicemail.
Now Jetdr I will try to answer your question here. I think your voicemail hasnt been provisioned. Click on your VVM app and hit menu, when you hit menu you should have 3 options, compose, search and settings. If you have a 4th option that says unsent or undelivered click it. When VVM sets up, it automaticly sends a voicemail to the server to setup your VVM. If that message doesnt get sent then it probably never will. You will have to uninstall the VVM.Apk and reinstall the app. One time when I was setting up CM6 I had to install the voicemail apk several times before I got it to provision correctly. If it doesn provision a minute or two after you install it then its not going to. Not sure if this is whats causing your ghost voicemail text but I am thinking this is it. The easiest way to tell is to just click the vvm app and see if it shows four options or three. It should only show three.
If you are using google voice you dont still have the sprint VVM installed do you? If you dont have the sprint VVM installed then I am not sure whats causing your issue considering my directions to fix your issue is in regardes to the sprint vvm app.
Hope that helps.
I've tried all that and more.... nothing fixes it. I've concidered calling sprint but don't want to ruin my insurance..

Twilk... thanks so much for the response. I did all you suggested and I flashed back over to the newest MIUI ROM and I still have the VM notification. I made sure I didn't have any voice mails before I flashed. The notification will not clear even with the settings selected to not show.
Initially it has the *86 number but when I change the VM settings to my number it of course then comes up in the drop down box with my number.
The same thing happens on CM ROMs.

My notification says 4 voicemails... so I'm wondering if when I rooted my phone I had voicemails.. I don't really listen to my voicemails.. i'd rather just receive a text from someone... I just wish that I had made sure to clear my box before I rooted.. not sure if this is the reason for it... but it doesn't seem like there are many users with this problem. I'm sort of anti-twitter or I would ask cyanogen myself.. this is soo annoying! Especially since I hate voice mail to begin with.. I don't read my bills much, but I think sprint charges for voicemail.. anyway I can cancel my voicemail service? Also they charge me to keep a spending limit.. I want to call sprint and ask to cancel my voicemail..

Anybody ever figure this one. Or do we just clear the message on each reboot?
Clear dalv. and cache, then change *86 to your mobile number then block 9016 from your sprint account.I added youmail and mine works perfect.I get txt and VM very quick. If the person that left you the voice mail is in your contacts it will show them as leaving the VM and you can just tap on there pic and it will play the ones they left you.
And I have no phantom notifications or anything odd.

Here. That's the only known way to get rid of it. It's a PITA but it works.
I've got a rooted DesireZ running the latest nightly CM7s.
Ever since I rooted, I no longer receive Voicemail notifications. I bought the phone from Bell and its running on Virgin Mobile, Calgary.
Does anybody know a way to get these working again?
I have searched and, believe I have the APN set correctly for BELL (owns Virgin Mobile). I used to get text messages as well as VM notifications and now get neither.
Thanks,
Mike
I use Visual Voicemail Plus, previouly known as PhoneFusion. You set it up, and it notifies you, and instead of having to call to check VM, you can DL the messages and listen to them, or read them.
Whatever you do don't get phonefusion!.
Tried google voice??
But if you aren't gettin sms as well either try a different STABLE rom and see if it changes. If not call tech support and make sure everything is set up correct. They can correct everything from their screen regardless of it being rooted or not.

Thanks papaBear,
I'll give it a try and see if it works for me.
I do get SMS, just not an SMS with a voice mail notification that I first used to get. On that note, had along discussion with a virgin tech support person that told me that their system didn't send an SMS with a voice mail notification. He was at a loss to explain why I got them. He figured my phone was sending them...After another month, they stopped and just VM notifications came. I've tried a few different ROMS and nothing seems to work now.
Maybe if someone has the Virgin Mobile APN settings, I could verify them. I've searched and found various incarnations of the settings but they always seem to not have all the fields listed.
Thanks,
Mike
saw this after last post....
Why not PhoneFusion?
I'm on Bell and sometimes after flashing/updating ROM's I have to manually set my voicemail number in call settings to get voicemail/notifications.

I have been having the same issue ever since I upgrade to CM7 over a year ago. There is a open issue about this on google code:
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=2801
Fixed!
After looking at the thread Goozy posted, I found that the update to the radio seemed to be the cure.
I updated the radio as per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
I went straight to the latest, Vision_Radio_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19
and after a reboot, EFS wipe, it now works.
Left Voice message with phone in Airplane mode and VM notification came into status bar and text message appeared.
Ok, So I've dug up my old Palm Pre so that I can activate it on sprint and clear my voicemails out which will hopefully clear the voicemail indicator on CM7/CM9/MIUI that I seem to be stuck with.
My Question is, when I go back to activate my Epic after clearing the voicemail do I need to be on a stock rom to do the activation? My gut tells me that CM7/CM9/MIUI would be a no go. Do I need to go back to BML/stock or would something like CleanGB MTD activate ok?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: So I went ahead and tried to swap to the Pre, but the website said it would require a plan change... Not fooling with that... Called *2 and the girl said she reset my vm indicator. Maybe that will help.
Yeah I'm having the same issue too. I already tried contacting sprint to see if they could clear my voicemail inbox, but instead they freakin got rid of my 3g, forcing me to flash an ei22 rom to reactivate my phone.
I just want to know if anyone has found a way to either block it, or just hide it, in cm9.
Any suggestions?

not sure if it will work but you can access your VM from a landline by calling your mobile number when your VM answers hit * then just enter your passcode of you have one then you should beable to clear your messages that way

I've tried that. Unfortunately since I use google voice leaving a message on my VM would not affect the notification since it's from Sprint.
I just wish there was a way I could contact the CM team (not the epic devs, the official team) to have them incorporate a "hide voicemail notifications" feature.
Ok, I had this problem before. I called *2, and just told them that I needed to do an esn swap to my non android phone to clear my voicemal, cause I had a phantom message that wouldn't go away, and that I would be calling back shortly to swap back to my epic. They did it with no problem. I used clean gb mtd rom on my epic. Now I no longer have the phntom voicemail.
Crazy thing is, when the old phone was activated, I called and left myself a message, but when I called to delete my voice mail, that was the only message in there.
Don't worry about the plan change thing. Just briefly explain your situation and all should be ok. I am on a shared plan with 4 lines though. Not sure if that would make a difference, but I think you should be fine either way.
Anyway, I know its a big pain, but it was worth it for me, cause that icon was pissing me off!

I recently flashed the new Darkside Evolution 2 ROM and I am liking it. The flash seems to have worked just fine (I did follow the instructions to a T), but my problem is I now have a permanent voicemail notification, however when I go to my voicemail it says there are no messages. Anyone know how I can get rid of this?
Sorry, I would have posted this in the development thread that I used to get the files and flashing instructions, but I am not a the 10 post minimum yet.
Nevermind, I got a real voicemail and deleted it, so now the notification is gone. Sorry to anyone who wasted time reading this.
Leave yourself a voice mail message. Then call your voice mail and delete the message. This should delete your message and take away the icon in your status bar. That usually works. Good luck bro...

Okay, so here is my issue that did not start until I flashed EpicTouchAOSPICSMod. I have used every stock rooted ICS ROM leak for the Epic 4G Touch and I have never had my voicemail transcripts sent to via text messages. Is there a way to fix this? I've opened the visual voicemail app on my phone but there is no option to fix it.

I'm pretty certain this is a paid service through Sprint. If you want voicemail to text for free, you have to use Google Voice.
