Hello All,
I believe there are many like me who would love to get the Blackberry Connect Software working on their HDs. At the moment, it seems like black magic how to get it working and the other thread doesn't really contain much useful information on working configurations.
So far, we know the following:
1. It is Radio, ROM and SIM card dependent.
2. You need to have the BB service provisioned on your SIM and have the new style SIMs that support full data functions.
3. Latest version of BB Connect required for TouchHD (4.0.0.106). This is available from HTC Asia on on the internet (just search these boards)
What i'd like to use this thread for is for people to post WORKING configurations with as many details as possible regarding the setup/installation procedure. I'll start with the only configuration I've managed to get working so far.
ROM: Dutty's 1.9b extreme
Radio: 1.12.25.16
SIM: Blackberry service from MTN
Installation/Procedure:
- Flash ROM
- Install BB Connect software
- Provision SIM card
- Connection was activated after a few hours.
Other information:
- The BB connect service defaults to IE as the browser.
- BB Push email service worked but with lag. SEVEN was much better in this regard.
- I was unable to get messenger, stock tabs, weather update, google maps, etc to use the BB connection
- BB push email service creates its own mail folders on your device regardless of what you already have.
- BB email folders do not have full flip to scroll to next message functionality in TF3D.
- BB email did not display pictures, etc
Please lets have other users chime in here and perhaps we can get a Wiki section created for BB Connect on the HD. Lets please keep to the same format as above to keep the information easily referenced and trackable.
Thanks
Thanks for the info, I have been able to run the service with all ROM's expect for the ones built on 6.5 OS's..
Connection was instant in each installation (right after a reset I am connected - then I'd push my service book -- done)
I do not have any lags in mail arrival.
Its satisfactory for me- but as you said you have to stop the BB service prior to any attempt to use the data connection for other purposes (IE, weather...etc)
Only thing I miss is the blackberry messenger.
Thanks for the thread.

Thanks for responding Taiseer.
Could you tell me what mobile operator and country you're using? Secondly, what do you mean by push your service books? Is than an automatic process or manually performed by you? In the installation that worked for me, I didn't do anything of the sort.
After installing did you have your BB sim in the phone or did you insert it later?

I am currently residing in Oman and its Omantel...
and normally what I do after the 1st installation and device reset, all of my mail arrives to a new mail account named system..(and I won't be able to send or reply to mail from it), so to be able to get the rest of my accounts and have a better use out of the service, I log on to the Operator's blackberry's site and manually demand a service book sending.. in few seconds mail arrive into auto formed mail accounts..
As far as the SIM card its always in the HD..
It looks like SEVEN may be better for me then, how does battery compare between the two.
Thanks for the information Taiseer. My provider does not offer the internet log on option so I guess I will need to get them to push the service books to me somehow. When I install the software with the sim in it, i get nothing after a soft reset. No pin and no ip address. Did you find that MS Live or any other microsoft service was able to use the BB connection or is it just the browser?

Seven has a good service and I've had no complaints. The BB data plan is the cheapest where I live though. So if you can get unlimited (or cheap) data packages, stick with SEVEN. I didn't notice any differences with battery life.

No - you got to stop data connection, but because I am used to my WIFI conection and hotspots everywhere I normally do not discounnect the BB connection, DO you??
Whilst my service worked I was too scared to disconnect the BB connection so I just didn't use any of the other services. It sucked. I've just flashed Davideuck's newest V 2 ROM so we'll see if i can get it working.
Okay, great news people. I've got my service working on Davideuck's Version 2 rom. It required a call to my network provider. For all those installing on a HD, its down to your provider regardless of what they say.
Taiseer, thanks for the heads up about the blackberry page for my subscriber. I managed to track mine down and set up my email accounts from there.
Woohah!
I am using a stock ROM 1.14.405.3(22273) WWE, Radio 1.09.25.15
I hate to have to use a cooked ROM, I've used Dutty's ROM's on my Kaiser and they worked well but this phone works so well I don't want to mess things up.
I believe the stock ROM should work as well. Be sure to hassle your service provider to set it up on their end. I think some providers are not pleased to offer the BB service for non BB phones and do not fully enable the service (they can tell that its not a BB phone from the PIN number). After a talk with my provider, I was told to reset my phone and presto! all was working.
It works on on my Kaiser so I know it works on my T-Mobile plan. I may mess with the radio's to see what I can do.
Sorry to keep adding to this thread but I have some new developments. I upgraded the ROM to 1.19.831.0 and Radio 1.09.25.14
I have version 106 and ran the desktop software, it switched the PIN from the Kaiser to the HD. I changed the version reset the device and now I have the service books and an IP address.
When I look at the status I get network available>data tunnel available then not connected.
Update, since it wasn't working I tried to reinstall BB Connect on the HD, when I tried to configure I got the PIN 0 error. As a last resort I put the SIM in the Kaiser and configured it, then switch to the HD, configured it and it worked!
I'm not sure but it looks like changing the PIN was all I needed to do.
blackberry working great on orange uk htc touch HD standard phone
I downloaded the blacberry install files form a link on this forum, I belive it was the same blackbery files from HTC.
Rom Version 1.19.61.1 wwe
Radio 1.09.25.14
Installed the BB app to phone - then went to start settings > system >" click" icon blackberry.
Blackerry connect (identity) tab shows 3 bits of info
PIN said something like waiting for PIN
IMEI 78*******************
IP Address No connection
Spoke to orange asked for blackberry service. they said 5 permonth £ 250MB of blackberry
Orange sent me text message with a pin number and told me of the orange blackberry site to go to I think it is blackberry.orange.co.uk
On the blackberry.orange.co.uk I enterd the PIN number from the text message and IMEI number.
My phone recived a text a turned it of and turned it back on.
Checked the Blackerry connect (identity) tab
PIN was now populated with the pin that was in the text message
IMIE still there
IP Address says connected.
Went back to the blackberry.co.uk setup my email accounts with blackberry the pressed service book. looked at my phone 20 mins later and my there email accounts were there 2 for work and 1 for home.
I dont do much surfing on the phone but opera works and and the blackberry is fantastic.
orange were very helpfull on this.
But saying that blackberry is really a network service Windows Live I belive does a similar thing you get push email.
I'm glad to see people are getting it sorted. There are certainly many other options for connectivity and push email. Some even work better than the BB service. The reason i'm on the BB service is that its the cheapest way to browse regularly and get push email in my part of the world. When a page can cost as much as 30 pence via gprs versus 20 pounds a month for unlimited data on the BB plan, its a no brainer. Yes, I'm painfully aware we're being gouged but theres no getting away from that.
I have a problem with blackberry connect...
Everything installed just fine, receiving message OK, BUT...I can't send mail because option new mail, reply on mail also, is disabled
Very strange, because I used earlier bb connect on diamond and everything worked...
Any solutions?

Its probably because you are only having the "system mail account" you should try to send your service books to your winmo via provider
Thank you very much - I'm tottaly forgot the way how to do that, working now!
Problems with BB connect on HTC HD
Hi guys,
after setting up successfully BBconnect on my HD, I noticed that when I send emails from my BES account on my laptop, I always find them in my Inbox (not in Sent Items as I would expect) of my HD reporting me as Sender and no body message in it. Instead, should I send emails from my handled device, I always find them in Sent Items of my device as expected....Has anyone of you faced the same issue?
Thanks...
Although this forum is filled with amazing information, and tons of it, there is so much data that i am confused on what is for me. I am sorry i am new to PDA phones and the xda Forums. If you could please help me, I will be forever in your debt. Thank you for reading.
I live in the USA i am using a Vario II. I have spoke with T-Mobile and we have tried to manually input the MMS settings. After a bit it will send the message, but noone ever receives it. I have sent messages to friends on all different networks to no avail. Everything works great except MMS.
I am using the Faria Rom, i have hard spl installed.
Is there a USA T-mobile win 6.1 Rom that i can download from here??
T-mobile said there may be a cab file on here that could help me???
Is there a rom or a cab that has mms send/receive capabilities????
If you could direct me to the proper posts and/or links that would really help.
feel free to email me. [email protected]
I have this same phone on T-Mobile but I have the ATT 8525. I NEVER EVER use the manual stuff. ALWAYS use the "Network Wizard" which sets up ALL of the MMS, Internet, etc settings. Do this, and you shouldn't have any problems.
here's a discussion thread with cabs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395203&highlight=tmobile
With The Faria Rom the network wizard would not work.
Vario II is a great phone in the USA, but you will not be able to go 3g in the usa, because t-mobile uses the 1700 frequency for 3g in the usa, and this phone runs off 1800. None the less, with Wi-Fi, edge, and gprs you still should have a decent connection in the USA.
I have now flashed to Manilla3g Colored. I think its the latest version :s
I also Downloaded the ArcSoft Cab and installed that.
After this I went to "Device Update" in the programs folder.
After the updates i selected were complete..... MMS WORKED!!!!!!!!!!! not to mention all the settings were put in automatically for me.
With the Vario II and the Manilla 3g colored ROM, once updated you use alot of phone memory. The ROM itself gives you less phone memory then other available roms. The rom is also not that stable when playing music with the audio manager. Music does not seem to work while using the internet browser, but works while using google maps. Sometimes the wrapper crashes. overall still a great rom.
A different ROM, one that has less processes running may be better for this phone, but this is the first rom that has given my phone all usa capable abilities.
If anyone has any suggestions for a different rom that still has most of the features of manilla3g let me know please.
Thank you for your helpful replies gehzumteufel and galaxys.
Manilla2d does NOT add features, it just adds a slick interface. I run Josh's M2D rom, and while I love the look and all, this phone doesn't have enough ram. I am possibly going to a diff rom that doesn't have M2D.
I suggest running a "lite" or "vanilla" rom. They usually run the best. Most apps can be added later without consequence. Especially on RBS roms.
Hey All!!
I have some frustrations & need a little help! I just switched from AT&T [GSM] (AT&T Tilt) to nTelos [CDMA] (HTC 6900 Touch).
The whole reason for me selecting the Touch is because it is because it is very similar to the Tilt has far as the Mods & being able to use the same programs. Plus ntelos offers the same service (almost) that AT&T does but for WAY less...also it is not as bulky. But I have a problem...
Is there any MMS software or system Mods I can download to be able to send/receive MMS Messages? Its kind of a big deal & I am unable to do so. I don't have the MMS option under my messages. I have look on here for HOURS & the only software I am finding is for Sprint users, like the sMMS program. Can someone help??
Are you using a stock rom or have you flashed already ?

I am using stock ROM. I don't know anything about Flashing it or really what that means.
I called nTelos & they stated that I would have to send/receive pics using my emailed on my phone. I don't think they even have MMS servers to be able to send for PPCs. Any other phone w/ them can send/recieve from other cell phones & companies...like the LGs, Motorolas etc...but not the Smartphone or PPCs. I think that's a load of CRAP!!
I've downloaded the program (I can't remember the name right now...it started w/ an A or find the cab for it) but it the installed SMS/MMS software program that usually comes w/ Windows based PPCs & that didn't work either b/c I had no server info to set up.
OH WELL!! I guess I'll have an ALMOST perfect phone.
I was able to recieve a picture message using the sprint MMS server settings. im not sure if it was suppose to work, but it did
I love sense roms. I don't care about how slower they are than AOSP roms, but the only problem is that when i recieve a MMS message it is very small and blurry if i try to enlarge it. I have been searching and searching in the community to try and find a solution to this. When i was using Insert_coins 2.1 w/ 3.0 goodies rom i tried to flash his MMS size fix, but it didn't work and I have used Superwipeg2+ to completely clean off my device to make sure no traces of roms are left on it. When i started making this thread i saw in the little suggested box on "How to fix MMS on Sense 3.0 roms for the droid incredible" I thought about trying it, but I believe the droid incredible is a Sprint phone and I am on Tmobiles Network. Hopefully there's someone out there who can help me with this. Right now i am running rmk's virtuous fusion rc2 fusion rom On a tmobile network and i have a G2 ??
bump, because nobody seems to know the answer to this problem. I am on T-Mobile US, btw.
I think its to do with the operator not supporting the user agent of the MMS client.
When you receive an MMS, your operator checks what kind of phone you have by pushing a message to the MMS client, The MMS client then responds with a user agent before downloading the content. Some networks have a fail safe lowest quality if your phone is not recognised (O2 definately in the UK) and resize the message.
You could either get your operator to add the exact user agent string of your phone (read ROM) which you'll have to find, or easier, spoof yours to something common like the Nokia N97. You'll have to search or ask your ROM provider how to do this because I don't have a clue how to on Android. I did it on my previous Touch Pro 2 at WM 6.5.5
I haven't got the agent handy but Google it. If I find it, I'll post it.

Hello everybody,
i have some Problems with my Galaxy Nexus GSM and Voice over IP. When i use Stock-ROM it works Perfectly. But every Custom-ROM have problems with it. When i get a call i can't hear the opposite. But he could hear me perfectly.
I use the voip support into the phone app from ICS. But also other apps don't work 'sipgate, sipdroid'
I except problems with my firewall because on stock it is working and on pc, too.
Now my question is, anybody else got problems like this?
regards

I've had success with the integrated SIP client, but it has too many quirks and Verizon's network periodically blocks SIP by interfering with the Authorization headers (they strip them).
The problem is that it seems the Android SIP client interop testing was done against an Asterisk system and is very half-baked. It's like they got it working with one IP-PBX in the lab and figured it was good enough for wide use.
Regardless, that's not your question...
One-way audio is typically a firewall or NAT issue of some sort. What VoIP provider are you using? Is this your own IP-PBX system you're running at home? I do VoIP professionally so I can help.
I'm using sipgate it is an free provider here in Germany. If this is an Firewall/NAT problem my question is why it works with stock rom and pc and not with custom-Rom? It is confusing.
Im realy no expert in voip, my scheme is to have an landline number into my phone when i am at home. So i could receive calls on an landline. Because there are flatrates for landline but not for mobile here. The VoIP only must work over WLAN not with 3g.
thanks for the trouble
regards
I wish I could help more... I know these phones are finicky at times and do odd behavior. My wife's phone recently started to forget that it has an earpiece and microphone. Then, out of nowhere, it remembered that it did, but forgot it can vibrate. All of this survived multiple re-flashes, wipes, different ROMs... This phone is borderline terrible.
Are the ROMs you are working with all AOSP? 4.0.4? What version is the stock ROM? As a US user on a CDMA network, my ROM choices a very limited.
If you're comfortable with Wireshark, a perfect way to test thing would be packet captures. Compare the SIP headers between a working ROM and a failing ROM. If you find a real problem, you could get credit for a fix.
