[Q] impossible to access the recovery - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys
I have a huge problem, I have the physical buttons of the volume broken (absolutely non-repairable) while they are trying to install a new Romy (total Wipe and /system format) I accidentally pressed on system reboot into recovery.
in this moment i have the written google when access (obviously it is)
I tried with GNEX Toolkit V11.1 but I have a serious problem
the serial number of the writer but also writes offline
GNEXUS 4.2.2
How do I get into recovery?
Sorry for my bad English

pull the battery, put battery back in.
press and hold vol up and down, then press and hold the power button while still holding vol up and down
use volume buttons to go to recovery. press power button to enter after recovery is selected.
this is basic nexus 101. learn it. and stop using a toolkit.

I have the physical buttons of the volume broken. I usually use the function number 24 of the toolkit to get into recovery, but this time I formatted the /system and I accidentally restarted the cell without installing anything.
The various drivers are installed correctly
GNEX Toolkit gives me the serial number but not online.

So basically, you're left with a stock recovery, no adb because of that (Does sideload work out the box? Can't remember; if yes, then OP has a driver issue) and no system to boot from.
Yet another solution would be a USB jig and Odin. Maybe that works for you.
You should drop the toolkit.
a maguro wrote this.

i have the CWM recovery.
already happened once but I had formatted the /system folder, on that occasion was able to enter through the starter toolkit in recovery mode.

help me pleas...

If you have cwm and you can enter the recovery you can adb push..

in the management of devices in windows says it is a samsung device but does not recognize the ADB interface. It is not the first time I connect drivers are all there and they work.

i use the gnex toolkit and the CMD (ADB command ecc...) but both give me the serial number, but respond "device offline" for any command

how do I prevent odin erase all sd memory??
I downloaded the original rom I extracted,
I extracted the file image-yakju-jdq39.zip
Inside there is the file system.img
I converted the file through GNEXUS toolkit. Tar
If I use this file with odin you can avoid that deletes all data on sd and change the recovery etc. ..?
Solved by the method mentioned above

You need to install the sdk tools and platform-tools from here http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html install it. See that the fastboot-drivers are correctly installed. Connect your phone (in usb-debugging mode) with the computer with the usb cable. Open cmd and type adb devices, you should see the phone with your serial number. Than type adb reboot-bootloader and you`ll come in fastboot mode. If that`s ok you can flash a google factory image. If you can get out of this mess i advice you to read up and learn some stuff about rooting, flashing etc. Better not do that without even the basic knowledge, and stay away from Odin with this phone!
Just Remove the battery for about 10 minutes, then put the battery back on and go fastboot v+ v- power, get a new cable and use another usb port in your computer to prevent futures failures with odin, in the mean time download the google factory image for your phone, gsm if your phone is gsm these are maguro builds or cdma if your phone its cdma these are toro builds
Thats it

thanks for all.
I had flash rom, root etc, but i don't have deep knowledge.
Just insert the battery appears this picture :
ttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61Ro6yAY1lL.jpg
even if I hold down the buttons to go fastboot.
If i connect the phone to PC, odin see device connect.
Starting flash, but stop at "NAND Write Start!".
I do not know what to do :-/
Thats cool go recovery mode only hold down volume - and power, do no use volume +
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
as soon as i insert the battery, I get the photo that I showed.
No recovery, bootloader ecc.
any key combination always takes me there.
I tried using the command adb devices, but I see no phone
Does odin/computer recognice your phone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
yes, when i insert telephone appears "Added" in Odin.
But the telephone is not in download mode
Ok so Please get this http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/2153...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/
In order to be able to send adb commands to your phone, once you can send commands use this command: adb reboot-recovery
so you can flash your stock image vía odin now with your phone in recovery mode
Or you can download the toolkit use this command adb reboot-fastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
And follow this wich its safer
0-put your phone in fastboot and plug to pc and open toolkit
1- Select your phone version
Meaning android gsm or cdma and its 4.0.1 4.0.2 4.0.3 4.0.4. It does not matter if it custom rom just matter if cdma or gsm and what version of android
2-install drivers if you dont have or if the toolkit does not recognice your phone in the list of attached files
3-once done with recognition use option 8 (donwload/extract/flash google factory inage)
4-Select 1 then if you are gsm go for 5 IMM76I for others get the lastest
5-after that go to the directory you installed the toolkit default is c:\Galaxy Nexus toolkit, open that folder and inside theres another folder called put_google_factory_image_here so the google file you just downloaded put it there, close that Windows and then back to toolkit use option 2 flash google factory image (dont not unzip the downloaded file)
Thats pretty much it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
yes, adb worked on my pc I used it before this problem.
But now there are no device connected even if I have the phone connected and turn on.
I have already install the Toolkit, i use this to unlock bootloader
If i use adb or fastbook, with the toolkit or without, i receive "device not found"
Thanks
use odin and flash phone and pda but at seperate times...
Thanks, sorry but where i find phone and pda for my galaxy nexus?
I'm don't have deep knowledge to use odin.
Sorry
Thanks
Try this, open toolkit and uninstall drivers, then disconnect the phone and install drivers again, connect the phone when promted, once you pc recognice the phone again use the adb command to go fastboot with adb reboot-fastboot once in fastboot well go to stock following toolkit option 8 procedure

People please stop telling him to Fastboot, he clearly cannot get the device to that point. ODIN is your only bet, use the PDA from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394051
I tried now but stop at "<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!".
I do not know if it helps, but I had Android 4.0.3
Thanks
i have try different times, two pc and different cable.
But flash stuck at "<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!".
I had use the option "partition sd card" in cwm, can be a problem?
I have already flashed file pit
Thanks

stuck on htc quietly brilliant screen help please.

Ok, asked a friend to erase pics on my phone as was going to sell it, to him, but he basically went into recovery, and erased every file, result stuck on white htc screen. Never use volume up + power! - some have reported it can brick your device , it's always volume down + power.

Bootloader unlocked and running a custom rom Endeavoru.
Well, if you don't know what ROM it was, best to just pick one and install it.
Make sure you are on clockworkmod 5.8.4.0, then flash ROM and boot.img.

Might sound a bit scilly, but how do I flash, when I cannot get past that screen, htc screen, assuming the only way to flash, is to actually turn phone past this white screen to place rom on phone?.
Hold power and volume down. Should hit the bootloader.
With the latest recovery, you can mount as card as USB and then copy ROM to phone from pc.

Ben is correct,
Flash clockworkmod touch
then you can mount your USB.
-----
Get Android SDK installed on your PC,
Put phone into fastboot USB
Flash clockworkmod touch via adb
Clockworkmod touch - http://db.tt/VF9J2eo8
Fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
Enter recovery, mount USB storage.
All of the above is done whilst phone is plugged into PC
don't flash anything on low battery

Renaming it? - not sure what you mean here.
Plug phone into PC
Put phone into fastboot USB (power + volume down then select fastboot with then power button )
Place CWM.img inside the same folder as adb, fastboot etc within your android SDK installation
Open command prompt on PC
Default installation commands are:
CD c:/Android-SDK/platform-tools
fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
If you installed android SDK to a location of your choice, you will haven to change the first command to that location.
Etc.

Just type the name of the Clockworkmod recovery file you downloaded, it should be recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img if you have downloaded the latest version.
No harm in renaming it but no need either. As it's a long filename, in most recent versions of Windows, you can type the first few letters then hit TAB and Windows should bring up the correct filename.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img

I tried to make it simple for you
http://db.tt/VF9J2eo8
Download that, its already renamed to CWM.img to make it simple for you.
The commands for command prompt if you installed Android SDK to its default location are:
CD c:/Android-SDK/platform-tools
fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
The top command is the location of your fastboot, adB etc within Android-SDK, this is the location you place cwm.IMG that you downloaded above.
You run the 2 commands above after you've put your phone into fastboot USB

I'm a noob too.But let me just share with you,
1. Hold vol down and power button to get into bootloader.
2. Once in,select fastboot then choose recovery.
You should be able to see clockworkmod recovery or TWRP,whichever you installed. But to install them you'll need to do it through fastboot on the command prompt (for Windows) or terminal bash (for MasOS).Make sure you have the recovery.img stored in your computer first before proceeding. If you're not sure about this, then maybe you can Google search it first and I'll guarantee it'll take you back to XDA.
Sorry cos I don't have the links to share. But I hope this reply can enlighten you a bit.Good luck!

Ouya Bricked ?

Hello !
Here's my prob :
I installed CWM Recovery on my OUYA, and then i wanted to flash a ROM via recovery.
Unfortunately, i've done a full wipe while in recovery, and restarted the console.
Now it's turning on, with the power button on, black screen, and identifyed as an MTP USB device.
I tried the alt + Sysreq + i trick, but it doen't seems to work here ...
Any chance to get it back to life in other way ?
Keep trying alt + sysreq + i trick my takes about 50 times before the light on the ouya flashes then i have to hit the home key some times to see anything

Try these timings. I had the same issue and these worked for me. The keyboard trick is currently your only hope.
I keep pressing alt + sysreq + i keys at the same time takes me about 30 times to get to recovery the light will flash one time then i know im in recovery some times iget the ouya smile with a ! mark some time a black screen then i press home button to get to recovery push the home button again it goes away i have done about three ouya.
Problem solved.
My ouya doesn't loved my Microsoft Keyboard...
I used a generic on, and it works directly
Ouya saved
Another advice : if it doesn't work, try another keyboard !

I am so upset I with thy would have put a sd card slot on this thing. Can anyone help me to try to recover putting any stock ROM back on my machine or is there a way to get my PC to read my device to load the ROM to my internal HD?
Please any help and instructions would be greatly appreciated.
I need some serious help here. Thanks to anyone who can get me back up and running again I will even send the person who has the solution one of my devices that run XBMC like a champ. You have to fastboot the "boot.img" supplied with CM10. I had the same issue so pm me if you need help.:good:
Never, ever ever ever ever ever wipe the boot.img, if you want to be safe, never replace it either, you can always 'fastboot boot boot.img" it.

You can do it from CWM, but you don't have to be there. Depends on what you've done to your system. If you flashed CM10 and now it's detected as an MTP device your best bet is to reboot into recovery and 'adb reboot bootloader' then use fastboot commands. That's what worked for me.

Ah, stock recovery.... You could go into Apply Update From ADB. Then type "adb reboot bootloader" then you can type "fastboot boot boot.img" to boot successfully into CM10.
You can put the boot.img for CM10 in the same folder as fastboot.exe to make things easier.

I put the Ouya on sideload from adb.
Then i open adb on my pc, check to make sure it finds the Ouya and then i try to adb reboot bootloader. and that error comes up. if i try to load an .img file from the same place it just says <waiting for device> and doesn't ever move.

If it says <waiting for device> then its probably a driver issue with fastboot. When you reboot into the bootloader go into device manager and check the driver again. I also had this issue.

Computer doesn't recognize Zenfone 2

My computers don't recognize my Asus Zenfone 2 Ze551ml. I've installed the intel drivers, the asus drivers, the google android drivers. I've restarted, tried different USB ports, tried different computers, and tried different USB wires but to no avail.
I originally wanted to unroot so that I could apply OTA updates but I couldn't get into recovery, all the phone does is restart into bootloader again. All the solutions I read require me to use ADB or get into recovery and since I can't get into recovery or get any computer to recognize the phone I seem to be stuck.
I haven't updated the OTA since 2.18.40.12 version. Can anyone help me figure out how to update my phone or get my computer to recognize it?

Thanks for the reply Asus_USA,
Unfortunately, both the links you sent me don't work on my phone. For the first link (hardware reset/wipe cache partition) it asks me to go into fastboot mode, which I can do no problem, it then tells me to go into recovery mode. I can scroll down with my volume keys to the 'recovery mode' option but when I hit the power key to reboot the phone into recovery mode, it just reboots back into fastboot mode.
The second link (manual firmware update) asks me to download the update from the ASUS website, which I can do with no problem and then attach the phone to the computer and transfer the zip file to the root of my internal storage, I can't do this because the computer doesn't recognize my phone and therefore doesn't allow me to copy anything into it.
Let me know if you have any other ideas!
Thanks,

The second link (manual firmware update) asks me to download the update from the ASUS website, which I can do with no problem and then attach the phone to the computer and transfer the zip file to the root of my internal storage, I can't do this because the computer doesn't recognize my phone and therefore doesn't allow me to copy anything into it.
Let me know if you have any other ideas!
Thanks,

You can download the file directly to your phone from chrome by going to the download site on your phone. Also try setting your phone to PTP mode when it is plugged in and see if anything changes in device manager.
Or take out the sd card and copy to that, once back in phone you can then copy or move...

Tried it this way and then rebooted the phone. The phone recognized that there was an update file, and when I allowed it to install it rebooted into the Fastboot screen and then did nothing. I waited a half hour before touching the phone. When I rebooted the phone it didn't update and nothing had changed.

I tried downloading the file from online and the same thing happened as with the SD Card. When I restarted the phone it recognized that there was an update file and asked me if I wanted to install it. I clicked yes, it thought for about 30 seconds and then rebooted the phone into fastboot mode. Nothing happened after that and I had to choose the 'Reboot' option to start the phone back up; nothing had changed and the update did not work.
PTP mode doesn't seem to affect anything. My computer still doesn't recognize the phone.
I should also mention that the phone *does* charge when plugged into the computer.
Maybe u r having drivers issues
Try it with diff pc

I have. I tried it on 2 desktops and 3 different laptops, I installed the necessary drivers on all of them and tried using different USB cables. No luck.

Your PC won't recognize it, even in fastboot mode?
If it does you can flash a new recovery in fast boot by using the adb tools. To test attach phone in fastboot mode to pc and type in "fastboot devices".
If it detects the phone you will see your serial number come up. Then reflash the pre-rooted image. it might replace the screwed up files in your recovery.
Instead of the ADB drivers only though, use the flashtools found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3301263&d=1431011927 Say thankyou to Shakalaka... I was having trouble using ADB, you might need to update to the latest drivers, but the flashboot tools worked with no problem...
You need to put the pre-root.img file in the folder and after connecting phone via usb hold shift, rightclick inside flashtools folder and select "open command window here" from drop down menu.
Then try the fastboot devices command.
Afterwards you can either flash the recovery again back to stock or flash the pre-rooted image and see if that fixes it.
You can find stock recovery, droidboot.img files and boot.img files here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/orig-development/rom-pre-root-img-t3079590
Again, BIG thanks to Shakalaka.

My computers don't recognize my phone even when it's on fastboot mode so I can't follow any of the steps
Would the solution for flashing recovery detailed in this thread help you ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3166701
You would need to still have root.

Thanks for directing me to that thread, it looks like, unfortunately, I have lost root access over the course of trying different solutions... Anyone know of a way to allow terminal to access root without superuser?

when i use adb drivers suggested in post above it says outdated server and still doesnt see my device in recovery mod.

Hi everyone.
And @Kalkin19 @ma.ruda,
Could you both try to follow my steps on other similar thread?
It's on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64093132
Let me know if your adb problem is solved or not.
Edit: Seems this thread is so old! Someone bumped it by posting the same issue. But, yeah, at least, give a reply. :silly:

Sorry for such a delayed response, I haven't logged in and checked my messages in a while. This issue was fixed for me randomly. I kept plugging my phone into my computer and it eventually recognized it (after about 60 different tries). I quickly added adb, unlocked, rooted and have been having no issues since then. I appreciate your link! Hopefully it helps others in the future.

[Q] Possibly Softbricked Zenfone 2 after CyanogenMod 12.1 install

Hi guys, I have an issue with my Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML).
I flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 and everything was working fine. That is, until I decided I wanted to go back to stock ROM. That's when everything went wrong.
1) I went into recovery mode (using Power + Volume UP).
2) I wiped cache partition (probably my first mistake)
3) I restored to factory settings (possibly my second mistake)
4) After this I tried to flash the "recovery1.img" of the stock ROM I had.
5 ) That didn't work so I tried using ADB to flash different ".zip" files (all firmware downloaded from Asus website)
When that didn't work either, I abandoned and rebooted the phone. But it doesn't boot anymore.
It is stuck on the Asus screen and nothing happens.
Does anyone know if and how I can get out of this situation?
I must insist on the fact that I am only a novice. Until now I've only ever known iOS and have no knowledge whatsoever of how Android works.
I already posted my question here ("http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/possibly-softbricked-zenfone-2-t3248318") and was told I might want to try posting it here as well. I hope one of you can help me repair my mess !
Download one click root, the one with CWM recovery. Place the factory firmware on your external SD card. Run the one click batch file. Type ACCEPT, press enter, the type T4 for option 4, press enter. Let the phone boot into CWM recovery. Select the option to update from external SD, pick your file and wait about 5 mins. Back to stock you go. By the way, to get into fastboot press and hold volume up + power wait for vibration then quickly press volume down about 3 times you should be able to get to fast boot, the run the one click batch.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a link for the one click root with CWM Recovery ? Can't seem to find it... Also, when I connected my phone to the computer and opened oneclickroot (basic) it says my phone needs to have USB debugging activated (which it did).
I can't get into recovery mode anymore, the phone just loops back to fastboot with no error message.
You just need fast boot only. Look around the forum for the CWM root its here and esy to find.

Found it but it doesn't do anything. The device doesn't even appear when I type "adb devices" in cmd. Thanks for trying to help but I'll just send it somewhere it can be fixed. I must have deleted the whole OS and now the phone is just trying to reboot but there is nothing to reboot.
Boot into fastboot, Vol Up + Power, once it vibrates quickly press and hold volume down a few seconds. Fastboot should appear. Then run the batch file. Adb does not run in fastboot mode.

there is still hope ... go for a lower version of recovery, boot (flash it in fastboot) and then keep the rom by keeping it in the external sd card renaming it to MOFDS_Update (i dont remember the name ). flashing should be done on its own...
search "Tutorial Upgrade / Downgrade / Unbrick Zenfone 2" in Asus ZenTalk. it helps for me
Thank you all for trying to help but I wasn't able to repair the phone.
I sent it back and by some miracle they accepted to give me my money back. Buying a new one now but I won't do anything stupid with it this time !
