Hello. Here is the story. I set my phone screen down on a tile counter top so I could listen to music. After I picked I up the screen had a very fine crack going down the middle of the screen. I didn't drop my phone or set it down firmly. All that happened was I set the phone down and when I picked it up there was a crack and 3/4 of the touchscreen is dead. The screen is working fine along with the rest of the phone except part of it is unresponsive to touch. Is it possible to take it to a Sprint Store or another shop and let them fix it? How much would it cost? I do not have an insurance plan or whatever Sprint calls it for this phone.

Thanks for this. I am considering doing this but is it possible for this to be done at the Sprint Store?
No they will not replace the screen in store. Your only other optiin besides doing the swap yourself is to file a claim with asurion. Change the screen yourself. Its cheaper.

I have changed quite a few screens from various brands. Samsungs are the most straightforward. Get a little practice and you can make a decent buck on the side fixing friends and coworkers broken devices. I typically get anywhere from 20 to 50 bucks depending on the make and model. Youtube it if your not sure; someones always taking apart their stuff on camera on Youtube. Good luck.

Ugh, I stood up, phone was in lap and it fell 3 feet and landed on the corner, solid...shattering the corner and put a crack all way across and up. I purchased a new screen and digitizer combo off eBay and a siedio convert combo to protect my 3500. Has anyone installed a screen. I'm very capable of doing this just looking for opinions from people who have done it their selves. Funny thing is the screen is cracked and the phone works perfect lol. Pretty damn good phone
Why didn't you just take it to sprint and have them replace it for $35? Or did you opt to not get insurance?

No insurance. Figured w all done to it, if it went terminal before I could flash it to stock they wouldn't accept it. No biggie. Watched a YouTube video so it looks easy enough

Even if he had insurance, Sprint doesn't do this anymore.
OP = If you purchased the digitizer/LCD combo, it is fairly easy to do. You can find a good guide to take apart the phone here:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/I...-Panel/3081/10
Also, if you search YouTube, there are video walkthroughs of the process, as well.

but you have to open your phone before you buy it to see which one you need since there's two lcds. or you can just purchase the digitizer and replace that only which is a little more time consuming. Either way its not too hard.
My LCD appears to be perfect. I just purchased the new screen w the built in digitizer. Hopefully it will go smooth
I cracked my screen in the top right corner so I am looking to replace the screen. I was wondering if anybody was looking to sell one or a knew of a place where I could buy something of quality other than ebay. If there is a good price, I would also be interested in buying white housing.
I just had the same issue....it'll run you anywhere from 200-250 for a new piece, unless you find a good deal on eBay. I wound up using my TEP and had sprint send me a new phone, it was much cheaper to do.

Damn. Definitely not what I was hoping to hear. Nonetheless thank you for letting me know whats up. Could I probably get the screeen fixed at a sprint repair center that way I would get it back in like a day? Right now the performance of the phone is not hindered in any way so it is not a big deal really.
When I brought mine in they said they don't fix screen cracks. But give it a shot, maybe they were being lazy at my store - worst they say is no.

sprint ESRP covers 1-2 cracks less than an inch in length. anything more than that, you would need to use the ERP portion of the TEP.
that being said, usually if we have the part, and its a guaranteed fix, we have no issues replacing the part. if we dont have the part, we arent going to order the phone as that would ding back on us.
*by we, i mean the location i work at.
doesnt hurt to make friends with the technicians at your local sprint store and see what they can do.
I have a white LCD for sale if you're interested. lmk.

I cracked my screen in multiple places and I found a link somewhere here for one on eBay. It was some $80, and it took me about 10 mins to replace. I'm very happy with it, the only problem I have is that it has a weird orangeish tinge when I turn the brightness to the lowest setting. But since the most of times I just keep the brightness at 50+, it doesn't bother me at all. So yeah, look on eBay.
I have plenty white screens for sale for $50
They are in flawless working order. Ask around, I have lots of happy customers.

I have a question regarding the ESRP policy with a cracked screen. If it's cracked, it's cracked, why does it matter how many cracks or how long the crack is?
About the white screens....
What all needs to changed to go from black to white?

I have an LS970 and I recently dropped it pretty hard onto a desk. The bottom quarter of the screen stopped working after the drop along with the capacitive touch buttons at the bottom. I was able to deal with this but today when I sat on the couch my phone fell again and a crack went down the middle of the digitizer. Now only some areas work and I am not able to unlock it. Before I buy a new digitizer and lcd I want to know if it could have also been main board issues that made the bottom part of the screen not work since no cracks appeared after dropping it on a desk. Thanks
I am about 99% sure its ya digitizer/LCD ... The main bored is tucked well in the middle of the phone ....I have pictures up on the sim card mod thread if u wanna c ...

Alright thanks. I'll go ahead and order a new lcd/digitizer tonight. I hate how they're combined as my lcd is fine but I'd rather fix it than buy another phone.
Thanks again.

It's the digitizer. I have a wonderful wife whom I love very much who has broken her screen three times. Each time that the screen broke, the digitizer went with it. It has to do with the fact that there is essentially no separation between the two on our phones, so drops that damage the screen almost always damage the digitizer.

I just picked up a broken LG Optimus G off craigslist and toward the bottom of the screen it has a hairline crack. Also the capacitive buttons do not work either....my problem sounds exactly like the OP.
Can anyone suggest a good place to buy a cheap digitizer/glass/ LCD?? I'm lookin on ebay and they seem to be about $80
Thanks,
Kevin
I've been looking around ebay too and they're all about 80 for the cheapest. I checked out a few phone repair websites and prices are much higher there. If you find anything cheaper let me know. I plan on buying it soon.
EDIT: The best I found on ebay was 78 was from the US and 69 from China. I know they are all from china but it's just a shipping time thing.

Based on the dialogue I had when my wife's screen broke not only with the insurance carrier but also a repair shop, replacing the screen or digitizer on this phone is always going to be very expensive because both parts almost always have to be replaced together. $80 sounds very inexpensive to me based on those conversations.

Unfortunately I dropped my phone yesterday and I think I broke either the digitizer or lcd or both. Funny thing is the screen didn't break at all. No damage on the outside, but you can see what appears to be some lines (possibly black) under the screen. You used to be able to see the screen (had a lot of distorted colors and lines) and I'd be able to plug in a mouse (unresponsive touch screen) and still use my phone, but just recently my screen won't even turn back on. Did I end up breaking my digitizer and/or lcd? I can confirm that the phone still powers on since I am able to use it via voice commands. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions? I was going to attempt to repair it, but if it costs me $100+ I may as well just buy a new phone, thinking nexus 5. Anyway, is there anything else I can try?
Thanks
If you broke the LCD and want to replace your self you can buy a kit from Amazon or eBay. They usually have some kits for around $10-$20 if you don't want to pay $100+ for someone then going for a new phone would be a better choice

Really? I've seen kits going for $100 at the very least. Maybe it was the lcd plus digitizer? How do I find out if my lcd and digitizer are broke or if it's just one of them?

If the phone wasn't responding to touches when you were able to see the screen after the drop your digitizer is fubar.

Ok thanks. Guess it's time to get a new phone.
Hi, so I dropped my One X on the road and before I noticed it, I stepped on it.. It's the first time my phone is damaged after more than a year of using it. Aside from having scars all over it's white body, nothing much happened to the camera, audio, etc.
The bit that I cannot live with is a small burn line that appears yellow and red/pinkish on the center right edge on the screen, it appears more on white backgrounds i.e. browsers, etc.. It's really annoying, I have no warranty nor insurance, and I have no clue on what it actually is.
Can anyone give me a clue on what exactly is it, how to fix it, and how much would it cost? Thanks.

Oh noes, I was planning to sell it and get a Nexus 5 after a couple of weeks, but looks like I'm never gonna be able to sell it now.
Any idea how much will a screen replacement cost me?

here you are man there is even the back cover if u want
One X replacement
I think the colouration is due to permanent pressure applied on that part of the screen. Perhaps when you stepped on it you caused some internal component to shift and apply pressure on the screen from inside. I suggest getting a replacement back cover (pretty cheap), open the device, unscrew the motherboard and rescrew see if the pressure point is relieved. Then go ahead and replace the cover and theres a good chance all will be back to normal.
There's a ton of disassembly videos on YouTube. It's pretty easy - I just did it for the first time this week to swap a damaged battery.
