[Q] Updating Radio - GPS Problems - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm Running Jellytime R11
Baseband 2.65.60.29U_26.14.01.28_M
And my Google navigation app can never get a fix on GPS. I tried GPS status and neither could that.
I have no GPS icon on my status bar either.
I have read this is a baseband(radio) problem?
And that i need to update my radio...
Will this require a data reset of my phone?
Do i need S-OFF?
What radio should i update to? Link please?
And are these instruction correct?
1) Download the radio file
2) Rename it to PD98IMG.zip
3) Move the file to your SD-card root
6) If they match, you are ready to go! Power off your device
7) Hold the volume-down and powerbutton simultaneously
8) You should see a screen with options
9) Navigate to Bootloader and press the powerbutton
10) Wait for the process to begin
11) Reboot your phone and enjoy your new radio!
Thanks a bunch, sorry i am new and don't want to ruin my phone.

If i am not mistaken, you can flash newer radio with s-on, but if there is something wrong happened, you cant downgrade it back to your previous version. So that is why it is better to have s-off.
People mostly use 2.69 but i still use the same radio version as yours.. Gps works fine for my case. I am running jellymiui btw

The first time I installed a custom ROM on my DHD - JellyTime R8, with an S-ON device - I had no GPS icon, GPS wasn't working.
It might seem weird to hear, but actually flashing back an official ROM, activating GPS from there and flashing again JellyTime solved the problem without changing the radio ROM.
You can find here more explanations about this topic in this thread, hoping it can help you.

If you have back up on your SD card, it should take at maximum 1 hour. But I understand. Today mine has stopped booting...
Enjoy! And let me know if it worked for you as well to fix GPS.

Did you flash the new radio before flashing the Froyo ROM, all Froyo ROM now require the newer radio and may be the simplest fix to being able to boot your phone. There a links to download this in pretty much every Froyo ROM Thread.
I recommend the following process:
Get the latest radio from the forum topic with all the radio's. Reboot into recovery and flash this zip.
Reboot the phone as your recovery tells you to do. This should flash the radio to the phone completely.
Then try using your phone again. Still having errors and FC's? Then I think you didn't wipe your phone before flashing a new rooted Rom.
Please wipe, then flash your Rom again. No need to flash the radio again.
Hope it helped. Your desire isn't at its end yet boy. It needs to live till Android 3.0!

i tried the flashbooting a new radio on but that didn't work because its already at the correct version.
Is there a way of flattening the phone and starting again?

[Q] Problems with my HTC Desire - I need help

First of all, I wish all of you a happy new year
Since yesterday I have some problems with my HTC Desire and I'm despiring.
I have installed the LeeDroid 2.3b ROM on my Desire and the latest Radio Image.
Yesterday I made a nanddroid backup via clockwork recovery. After finishing that, my sd card didn't work, but I solved this problem via 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0'. After solving this, I had the following problems:
1.) USB doesn't work. I can't choose on my Desire, how it should be connected to the PC. The battery gets loaded but I can't use my sd card via Desire, I have to use a card reader. I tried the USB Brick Fix from this Thread, but with no effect http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639.
2.) If I reboot my Desire, the mobile data connection is getting lost after some minutes.
3.) A very strange problem: I can't call anybody. If I call somebody and take my Desire at the ear, the phone app 'crashes' and I see the homescreen. But the phone is connecting to the phone partner and the phone of my phone partner is ringing. If he is answering the phone, my Desire starts the phone app. But if I want to speak, the phone app crashes and I can't talk to my phone partner. But the connection is still there. I'm not able to talk to anybody. I have this problem only in Sense-based ROMs.
If I flash an AOSP ROM, I have only the first problem, that USB doesn't work. My Desire behaves very very strange. I hope, that somebody could help me, please.....
I hope it was understandable, sorry for my particullary bad english. Thank you for your help.
What happens if you flash back to a stock ROM or use stock RUU?
If I flash a stock ROM, I have the same problems. I'm try to flash a stock RUU at the moment.
flash this to enable usb back http://android.modaco.com/content/h...com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/
I have tried this, but it doesn't work :-(
it can't be. this is a modified misc partition. if it didn't work it means that your problem wasn't it.
can you give some phone infos.
branded-unbranded. s-off or not. changed partions. radio. current rom that started the problem.

I don't, why it didn't work.
I have an unbranded, S-OFF Desire, I didn't change the partitions. The latest radio is installed "32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27". The problem started with a pre-rooted Stock ROM.
for the moment i would recommend flashing the most stable sense rom out there which is Leedroids and revert radio to 30_2, but flash radio through fastboot and not recovery. i suppose that fastboot work. make aclean start. after that try and install the modaco usb fix again.

Could it be fixed, if I flash an original RUU ROM?
i believe so. just download yours from shipped roms and flash it. after that try rooting again with unrevoked.

I installed the original RUU yesterday but the problems are still there, no USB, no telephone and no mobile data connection. Therefore I can't root my Desire via Unrevoked, because USB is not working.
I don't know, if this matter, but I found out, that my Desire is branded by Vodafone yet. Therefore I installed the original branded RUU.
Is there somthing I can do furthermore or do I have to send my Desire to HTC?
There is aguide on how to fix usb without root. Search q&a in here.

[Q] Correct Flashing a rom method?

Sorry if this seems like a basic question, but I want to install Android Revolution 5.1.9 and as recommended I'm going to flash the 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 radio once I've done the other steps first, can I use the method found here to do it https://webcache.googleusercontent....&client=firefox-a&source=encrypted.google.com. I'm asking because the recommended radio I want to install isn't listed on that page. And how risky is this process? Can it be undone if I need to send my phone back?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Should say radio and not rom in the thread title, I've had an android phone before and I'm not a complete newbie.
Yes it really is just a matter of following those instructions, please make sure you are radio s_off before flashing the new one or you may find you are unable to downgrade.

Thanks, yeh I know about the s-off, I've been reading up on what to do before I flash a new radio, I'm feeling more confident now
Do nandroid first before flashing. If you have done this, the risk of flashing rom will be reduced to zero.
Flashing radio however can brick your dhd. Just make sure, you double check the MD5 for the radio, and that all the requirement is met (fully charge, htc driver etc)

How do I do a nandroid I've forgotten it's been a while since I owned an android phone.
Edit: I read Rom manager can do it, but the Android Revolution thread (first post) advises not going anywhere near it :/ I also read your phoned already has to be rooted before you can do a nandroid, is this true?

I've got one more question, in the event of me not liking the new radio, can anyone provide a link to the radio that comes pre-installed on the Desire HD so I can flash it back over the top if need be, thank you.

[Q] Facing the bugs with stockROM-HTC wildfire

Hi Experts,
I am facing below bugs with my HTC wildfire after resetting back to stock rom, please kindly help.
Initially I had rooted my device HTC wild fire A3333, which was with Android 2.2.1, hboot 1.01.0002 and S-ON, and I was using custom ROM's. However, I wanted to go back to the original software so reverted back with RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe and I did S-ON.
Now I am facing the problems with user interface:
• Unable to type Message properly, some of the letters are not coming so I have to lock and unlock every time.
• Always the home Screen is fluctuating.
• Some times lock is not working properly I have to unlock so many times.
Thank you.
Naeda.
Straight answer... The RUU with Radio 3.35.20.10 is buggy... Don't run it... Do you Headset icon when Headset is inserted?... I don't think so... Try another RUU with another Radio verion.
Cheers.

Try this RUU "RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.15.707.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_131306_signed". After flashing, you can update your Radio using the Radio.zip to 20.10. Sorry for the late reply, been away...
Hi dan,
Thanks for the support.
I Just updated with RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.15.707.1_Radio_13.45.55.2 4_3.35.15.31_release_131306_signed and then it has got auto updated with system update. Still I am facing the same issues, When press back button some other actions are performing and I am unable to type even single message..
1. Either suggest me some standard ROM with out these bugs to get back to standard ROM with model no or suggest some custom ROM which has no bugs.
2. Can we flash Radio on these stock rom, I was going through forum most of the places they says to update the zip using ROOT.
Kindly suggest.
Thank you.
I guess you'd have to root your device then. Update back to Radio 20.10 and then download SimpleOneClick to root. After root, download CWM v7.2 Stable and flash and lets see how this go. Hope this helps.

Got the same problem. I've read a lot the last days, trying to find out if revert to stock would solve the issue. But it looks to me like it wouldn't..?
It's very confusing, some people says its software problem, other it's hardware and their only advice is to return the phone. This is super frustrating! My phone is useless!
if it's software or hardware problem why it just apear after root ??
hope we find any way to solve it

Thing is; people get this issue wether rooted or stock.
I'm thinking of following this simple process (option 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714, doing it with the latest RUU (for me, I guess, since i bought my device in Sweden, it would be "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.12_Radio_2.1204.127.19_release_271851_signed.exe"). But I don't know if it's worth it, or if that is the right RUU for me? My original version-main is: 1.28.401.9. Do you/anyone know if it would be more safe to use the original, or could I jump to the latest right away?
Also, I really would like find a way to fix this without going through the unrooting process. The last, and most important, step (6) looks like an make or brake thing to do...
"6. On your pc run the RUU that you downloaded earlier, follow the steps as prompted and patiently wait for it to finish.
REMEMBER your phone should be charged ABOVE 50% AND if the ruu or restore is INTERRUPTED 4 any reason during restore your
phone will be PERMANENTLY BRICKED.."
Here's a video, showing exactly how my phone looks/behaves:

deud, if it's a hardware fault, which seems likely, the RUU won't help.
You can flash the latest, in your case 2.17.401.2

Thanks, but I think I'll stick with the 1.36 hboot for now, since I read somewhere that these black/flickering screen issues can reduce within 2 weeks of use, screen brightness at max. Got something with voltage calibrating to do, if I understood it correct... And as far as I know, you can't downgrade from 1.36, yet.
The phone now works "ok", very few flickering problems, as long as it's on. If/when I turn the screen of, it usually meen I have to reboot the device, since it just won't wake up the screen again.
Therefore, I still wonder if it's a hardware fault, since it got significantly better after the hboot update?
"dude" can I ask you how to do voltage calibrating ?

I actually don't know what that is supposed to meen.. I just read it somewhere on one of them 1000 pages of nonsense I've stumbled over the past three days.. For real!
Anyway, I have mailed with HTC a couple of mails (they're seriously fast at answering, gotta give 'em that..), but they won't answer the simple question "Is it hardware/software?". Which is frustrating. And I also got pretty standard suggestions; format cache, system, etc... As I told them I had already done that, they said I should send the phone to them for repair. Don't know yet what to do.. I really would like to know if it's hardware/software problem!
Dude if you think its a hardware fault ,why dont you visit the nearest htc service center and send the phone back.
