It simple...our phones can't run such games properly as our processor and GPU can't take it...
The WFS is a two year old phone with 3 year old specs, you simply should'nt expect it to run everything

I agree, the Wildfire S is wonderful as a small phone for traveling and just having in your pocket, however one can not simply expect it to run the newer, more resource intensive applications without some lag. I'm amazed that it even runs most of them at all.
game runs slow
hello,
thanks for the information guys.
ya i know that the the phone is too old.
don't worry about the thanks button i have hit it already
thanks a lot for the information.

I've just installed the amaaazing GTA III ten-year anniversary edition on my Wildfire S. Everything loads, and I managed to find a decent HVGA version of the game data files.
Anyway, it's quite slow running at 600mhz on an unrooted stock rom. Anyway to speed it up a little? Is it because of RAM or CPU or what?
S-ON btw.
Dont think it will run it. All approved devices are dual core with pretty good graphics

Hmm, but I seem to be running it perfectly in terms of graphics. Sound, video everything works and is playable.
It just lags a lot when trying to move around. Like playing in slow motion.
Most likely would work on alquez's kernal.

Well, look at the bright side. You can predict enemy moves and shoot 'em easily.
I wouldn't know unless I installed it. Could just be processing power.
Hahaha, yeah would need some more processing power I guess.
Link to the game and files? Would like to try on CM7. 2 @ 800mhz
Edit: found the game.

No chance of running this on wildfire s guys, this game needs a lot of power.
Tried on my cm7.2.1 overclocked to 806mhz runs like crap, don't waste your time with the 500mb+ data download you'll just be disappointed.
Oh and your phone will heat up like the core of the sun.
The game is on the market, and a few other places but yes doesn't run well at all.
what's the size of apk you installed....
http://www.mediafire.com/?xk8bdqrrrd7yk76
Try this one, this is the ripped version of data pack from Andropalace.com
You can't use the files that the game downloads itself. Find the seperately ported HVGA files.
It does run nicely, it's just slow people.
on my WFS long time ago (1 week) when i was S-ON it run smoothly, people never lag... now, i have rooted WFS with CM7.2 @ 806MHz and it have 2FPS... hate beta CM7..
As much as i have used it....it runs fine on the stock rom without sound, but it lagged like hell on CM7(YES!!WITHOUT SOUND FILES!!)

I hope that alquez add hardware acceleration in next stable release
I had installed it, and on CM7.2 with 806MHz it still runs very slow. There's probably no chance of it running well on this phone, and to be honest, the controls for it will suck anyway. I have my old PS2. I might buy the original again.
I also tryed this, but it's very slow, i just waste my time. :S
HTC One V can run casual games like Angry Birds,Temple Run etc smoothly, but what about HD Games? I've just played Dead Space on my HTC One V.What about other games like Shadowgun,GTA III?

In my case GTA III freezes phone then reset. MW3 isn't even in market... I have sgs2 and I have to admit that 4.3" display is too small for gta/mw... imho ofc
>7" tablets are better
Shadowgun runs great on mine. The SOC is a good one for gaming. MC3 is oddly incompatible, probably an error on the part of Gameloft. I own GTA 3 but I haven't played it yet, when I give it a whirl I'll share my thoughts on its performance.

I am facing slight lag issues while playing Temple Run on my HTC One V. Sometimes the game will lag and when you die the end screen just displays the score on a black background and no replay or menu button (though if you touch in the area where replay button should be it will take input). Once you encounter this issue where the end screen starts displaying score on a black screen, it will reoccur every time until you restart the device (Killing running apps using Task Manager does not help)
I've no problem with temple run but tap tap revenge 4 is killing me with the wrong res...

Solution for some games
For gta iii you need to set the screen sleep timer to maximum (30 min in my case but I run costum rom) point is, when the game downloads the extra files it needs it's very important that the phone won't go into sleep mode. If it downloads only a part of the files it will, strangely, still run, but crash after a while
Hope that helps

Overclock your phone and it helps with frames. Especially when using oblndemand or Lionheart governer. I reccomend 1.2ghz - 1.5ghz. Just be sure not to overheat it might run a little warm you just have to know when too hot is bad.

if you root it u can almost play any game....but if u want to play safe then i suggest u buy the sola....its a good phone with dual core proccessor capable of playing any game
BTW asphalt 6 runs gr8 on the one v but i suggest buying the sola for more heavy performance games
In the end, its up to you
Almost all game are smooth but when I was choosing this fone I loved the screen DPI. I have used sola as well to but overall I say this fone is gr8 in screen battery backup and also sound quality in which sola sucks and Samsung also. And sola comes with 2.3.7 one v comes with 4.0 ics .

Hey all! I just got my S3 last week and it's my first Android phone. I'm trying to run an N64 emulator (Mupen64Plus) and it's pretty laggy, especially when sound is enabled. I've seen and posts about users running N64 games just fine on their S3's, so I'm not sure what the issue is. If anyone has any suggestions for getting my phone to play N64 games smoothly, I'm all ears. Btw, I haven't rooted or done anything fancy and don't plan to in the near future.
Some info: I ran the Quadrant Standard benchmark and got 5392. Generally, I'm using about 750/1560 MB or RAM (before running the emulator). I've run a process monitor that says nothing else is taking more than 2% of the cpu, except for the "System," which takes <10%. In all, it looks like not much is bogging the system down, so I'm really not sure why this app is having trouble. Are there other comparable high-end android games I should test my phone against? Thanks, guys.

An S3 and the T999 have completely different hardware specs. Its uses the same screen, battery, and case, but thats about it. The S3 has a quad core, we have a dual core. Try another n64 app or a different site for getting rome. Also, make sure you place your roms on internal storage, if you're running a lower class SD Card.
This sounds like an app problem. ..try using a different emulator. Mess with the settings even. My emulator runs fine
You're asking a tiny handheld device that is designed to be a PHONE to do the things a device designed to be GAMING CONSOLE to do.
I'm just saying....
There may be other emulators that will do better on your particular phone.
It's not an alien spaceship you know.
Im pretty sure the only app that doesnt lag is N64oid try that. Runs perfectly for me
Hi,
With HD screen and a bit weak GPU some games don't run as smooth as they could on Xperia S. Is it possible to reduce resolution on 800x480 (not the actual screen but game itself) so it would run better?
Of course it would not look sharp as it could but it would increase performance and maybe lower device heating and battery usage.
Thanks in advance!
if small apps work I wouldnt see why normal apps wouldnt but might be hard to do.

I don't know which game are you talking about but I can play any game with 0 lag. And as the above guy has said, even on my mini I could play any game quite smoothly.
BTW, wrong section.

No you cant change the resolution. And i dont see any problem playing any game with my Xperia S. Maybe you got too much apps running.
I am using SlimBean and when I play game called Vector it runs too slow OC helped a little bit but still way too slow.
Rather weird considering that Vector is 2D game (parkour).
I have plenty of RAM and other apps run smoothly. I don't play anything else.
So that's a problem related to the game, it migh not handle good the resources. But reduce the resolution could be great for decrease the battery usage.

I have played the same game on OpenSEMC, and it had the lag you're mentioning. I think it has something to do with the fact that the phone has to process two "ragdolls" (the protagonist and its chaser). When, by means of power ups, you manage to get rid of the chaser for a while, the game runs considerably faster.
So, conclution is that Vector has some not-so-good optimized CPU usage and its physics engine requires some serious power (I9300 runs this game perfectly).
Thank you for your answers folks, still though it is shame that it is not possible to lower resolution, even just for the sake of lower battery consumption and/or less heating.
Let me first start off with saying that I am quite a newbie.
I know how to flash a rom and a kernel, but that´s about it.
I have recently gained new interest in my old XPlay, and is returning to it. For portable gaming purposes only. It is a nice device.
I have also been out of the loop for the past 2 years, so I have no idea where to start.
1. How is emulation on the Xperia Play faring overall? What emulators do people use for PSX-emulation nowadays? Last I was into gaming, it was FPSe that was the number 1.
2. I want to be able to run FF9 as good as possible. Can it be run from start to ending perfectly? Can someone please point me in a direction to a nice, lag-free setup (kernel/rom/emulator). I am ONLY interested in gaming. The phone will not be used for anything else.
I would be very thankful if someone could help me out. Cheers!
Try the aurora play ROM, it's probably the best one for gaming, since you aren't interested on using the xplay as a phone.
As for the emulation try fpse for ps1 games, every game should run smoothly. Also games like GTA III will run perfectly on that ROM.

Mmh, no, I don't think you'll get much better performance with other emulators...just try to overclock a bit and see how it works. Try 1,4 GHz and if there's still lag, try 1,6 GHz but use these freq only when you need performance for gaming since your battery will be drained much faster. No-Frills CPU Control is a very good app for overclocking, look for it on the Play Store. Make sure you use the latest Lupus GB kernel for more performance.
Unfortunately the Xplay has an "ancient" hardware so don't expect miracles from it...
