What do we love the most on our G pro phones? - LG Optimus G Pro

Hey guys!
This is a thread on what we love the most on our pro's,

The way she (G Pro) cooks my breakfast ... I love it ...

Coming from a SGS3, I'm loving the battery life.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2298866

I love the elegancy of the phone + battery life + the fact that i can see anything at that gorgeous screen :fingers-crossed:

A big, clear screen that's an absolute joy to read. Facebook, Tweetcaster, Baconreader: I can comfortably read it all on this phone.

I enjoy three things about this phone, the battery life, the gorgeous screen, and the quik button.

I'll tell you what I hate about it,.....
That there is no boot loader unlock yet...
Lol:banghead:
When the f*ck did we get ice cream??

The large 1080p screen. Bigger IS better!

What I love most about it? Everyone that has seen me with it wants it! Call it whatever but that makes me feel good about myself and my cell phone selection.

Removable battery, 64g memory expansion,, screen quality . . . unlike SAMSUNG Note 3 G PRO is reaL . . . and size - - mine's bigger than yours . . .

I love the LED Notification home button and that you can quickly respond to a text message on a pop-up w/o having to disrupt what you were doing.
Also love the dewdrop unlock. Most are amazed when they see it ^^

Nothing quite as satisfying as convincing your friend his TV is "dying", convincing him to sell it to you for dirt cheap, letting him spend a few hours searching online for a new model, then telling him you were just turning it on and off with your phone and it works fine...

The real HD screen, the natural colors, the smoothness and the battery life.

Going on almost a month of owning this phone. My favs are the giant IPS display the color LED notifications and that it's fast as hell ☺

My personal favorites are the big beautiful LED notifier, and the big beautiful battery. The huge amount of storage is nice too, especially with a 64 GB SD card and MediaMonkey syncing rather than GooglePlay Music using up internal storage. I could theoretically put my entire collection on the card and still have room for a few ripped movies.

Only problem with Tmo SGS2 for me is....

Lower resolution.
And it's the only problem for me.
Everything works perfectly fine.
GPS, bluetooth, amazing web browsing experience, sound quality, etc...
I mean, it's not a big deal, but it bothers me just a little whenever I see bad-quality picture and could notice pixels
Oh, one more thing...
This phoene is very hard to use with just one hand lol I keep pressing search haptic search key whenever I reach for menu button lol

Ditto to the one-hand use. I'm pretty confident that the majority of the users cannot use this phone one-handed as it is almost impossible to reach the corner farthest away from the main thumb without the phone slipping. This will be even more so when you attach a case to it due to the increased width.
you can't really point resolution as being a problem
as the phone is designed like that
it was not advertised as HD
only the upcoming Prime and korea SGS2 version have HD display

You definately can tell the resolution difference. I have the unlocked version of the SGS2 and I'm looking at it side by side and YES there is a resolution difference, I was thinking that unlocked SGS2 look more crispier and sharp but on Tmobile SGS2's resolution being lower was due to the bigger screen or something....also the I notice there was a lag on Tmo SGS2 when playing 720P avi file when there was no lag at all on the unlocked SGS2

I think the lag is because the exynos is more focused on media consumption than snapdragon

The resolution wasn't that bad to me, maybe I wasn't looking hard enough, I mean I really didn't see any pixels..
Speed and resolution seem fine to me.

I actually like the resolution. I have 20/15 corrected vision, but it's still nice to have stuff just a tad bit bigger. I feel like I don't have to lean over my phone in order to use it. I can reach the whole screen one-handed, but I have pretty big hands... I admit 720p resolution would be hott still, but I would be concerned about the battery life of such a huge screen with that dense of a resolution.
I've been playing with mine for some time now and the resolution is not a problem for me, and neither is lag.
I have a feeling that people have crazy expectations over phones and in the end they end up being disappointed.
The only thing I don't like about mine is all the dumbass apps that came with it, but that's with most phones.

Galaxy Nexus problems..

Hello,
Im searching for a new phone and I picked the Galaxy Nexus and a HTC Sensation ( xe + xl) . I read there are so many problems with the Nexus. Screen isn't good, build quality is bad etc. Is it really that bad? Im just trying to figure that out.
Thanks,
Lars

I received my nexus yesterday, it has the most current software release on it, so no sound bug. Display is brilliant (coming from a HD2) and touchscreen is very responsive.
Also I haven't noticed any lag and ICS has some nice features.
Only thing I am not so amused of is the battery cover. It's pure plastic and doesn't look very stable. BUT it fits perfectly so no problem at all.
Good to read a positive reaction. Thank you.

Every phone has its issue but right now the galaxy nexus is the best android-phone/phone money can buy.

I agree. Everything is good. Only thing I noticed is it rotates a lil slow (compared to the sgs2) But I have to admit that i am still keeping the sgs2 because to me it is a beast!

You also have to ask yourself how important the camera is, because after using the iphone 4s, I feel the GN is pretty horrible. You may say, well I don't really use my phone for the camera ( I said that) and then when you need it you get poor quality pics. Just my opinion.
also keep in mind you will need a good data plan, or restrict yourself to WiFi only
The phone is amazing. Screen looks beautiful (especially coming from my Nexus One). Having a 720p display is so great. Fluid and fast. And the build quality is great. Even though it's plastic, it feels almost as good as my N1 to hold. The only downside is the camera quality - but even that is much better than my N1.
Coming from a Nexus One
This touchscreen is excellent. I am able to using the turn by turn navi while sending emails or text messages without the touchscreen going haywire. In the past, my N1 would registry incorrectly and I had to restart the phone! So much for multi tasking!
It maybe not a HTC build but it looks very well made and how thin it is. Also this phone seems to grab a hold of a 3G signal much stronger. My N1 would go to EDGE all the time even if I had 1 bar of 3G!
As for the GNEX, I've only seen it go to EDGE once but quickly back to 3G.
I actually came from a HTC sensation, and the galaxy nexus is definitely the best smartphone I've ever owned (and I've had them all, even iPhone 4 ) . The screen is so crisp and clear , colors are very warm, and can get very bright. The OS itself is super speedy , comparable to an iPhone, with very fluid animations. Battery life was a bit bad at first but gets better after about a week. Also charges extremely fast from what I've noticed. The camera quality isn't bad. I think its damn good, and zero shutter lag, I can't complain. Seriously , if you are debating between the sensation and the galaxy nexus, do yourself a favor and pick the nexus . You will not be disappointed. Another thing I forgot was build quality, the first time I picked it up out of the box my jaw almost hit the floor because of how thin this device is.its amazing to say the least. And even though the entire phone is made of plastic it definitely feels like a premium built device , doesn't feel "cheap" by any means .

Every time a phone comes out, "problem" threads begin popping up everywhere. If you pay attention to all the threads, you'd think that every phone that's released is a non-functional piece of garbage.

Coming from an HTC legend.... had the nexus a few days now... best phone ive ever had no problems with it what so ever.... its a tad on the large size but thats not the phones fault and i dont think that can be seen as a disadvantage really.
I got mine yesterday and no problems so far. The screen is really nice, nothing wrong with the build quality that I can see. The battery cover is a little flimsy but I will probably hardly ever have to open it so I don't think it's a problem. If those back covers start breaking for a lot of people I'm sure they will be made available for purchase or maybe some free replacements from Samsung.
The OS updates for ICS are nice. The phone app is annoying because the layout for finding contacts is totally different and the icons aren't obvious. There are no words to help you choose what icon to select. Even if you are completely confused by that, at worst it should take a week to get familiar with it so that's not a problem.
I am also a little worried about the screen being scratched. I used my Captivate for over a year without a case or screen protector, carried it around in my pocket and even dropped it a few times and the screen is scratch free. I planned on doing that with the GNex but after reading some posts here I'm waiting to see what happens once there are more widespread experiences with the screen quality. Right now I have the sstock screen protector on it still.
Man I love nexus constantly on it modding the **** out of it

I got mine on Monday (GSM), coming from the Nexus S. I must say that this phone is outstanding in nearly every aspect.
My only gripes ( if you can call them that) are:
Non mettalic outer chassis
No native notification light for SMS ( must D/L app for customization)
I was blessed with a "non Google/Samsung rom ( South American import to US), which a simple flash took care of.
Other than that I giggle every time I use it......

Whats something you dont like about the E4GT?

i just dont like how there's no touch to focus on camcorder. other than that this phone is best phone out there! lol
I wish it had some contour to it or something to make it a little easier to hold. When typing one handed I also accidentally hit the search button with my palm because of the size

It is an amazing phone and still the best piece of hardware on the market but other than being huge (which I like) it has no character to it's design. It's a standard looking black slab phone.
Audio quality.
I hate the shape somewhat its like somebody steam press the phone flat. I wish it was the shape of the galaxy nexus. I know I'm being picky but the design of a phone matters alot to me

I can go 2 days on a charge and never have a problem with the AOS bug. It does show up high on the usage list but never has any type of negative impact on battery life.
The only thing I would change about this bad boy is the screen resolution, there are some noticeable jaggies when playing some games. I wouldn't however be accepting of a pentile screen to achieve the higher resolution. I had the GNEx for a bit and I don't care what anyone says, you CAN definitely tell it's a pentile. That was one of the reasons why I returned it.
Hmm for once I can say I am pretty satisfied, but if I had to pick...It would be the slight delay we experience when pressing the power button to wake the phone. From what I have seen on here it is a power saving feature and has something to do with the phone sleeping, so I am actually ok with that. The other thing would be the build materials of course. Being a former HTC guy, I missed the matte finish and metals, but now I am actually in love with how light and thin my phone is. Can't wait to see whats next for samsung !
I can't complain about this phone (The SGSII). It's a solid powerhouse of a phone with a killer battery. Great piece of hardware.
I can however complain about the E4GT, Sprint's terrible take on the phone. No NFC, odd design because of the bigger screen (which I like the big screen, just not the design), Sprint blocks certain apps in the market that are compatible with the SGSII, beta builds of ICS have leaked for other versions of the SGSII, but Sprint is still patching GB for some ODD reason, oh and WiMax *puke*.
Based lil b
my only complaint is the audio dac also, the only way to get adequate sound is with the neutron player, but is has such a terrible user interface lol
Great phone otherwise, especially with the new 29 modem, IMO of course
Most are mentioned already but ..
Battery door creaks
Too Thin/ Design
Battery Life
Resolution
Gingerbread
Sprints crappy network
Only things I wish it had was a better resolution and LTE, aside from that I love everything else, including the design.
power button should be on top.
It has a worse sound card than the first galaxy s'es including the nexus s.
They had a wolfson, which is a major difference in sound quality on headphones and specker.
Also same with the audio mic.
So this means no voodoo sound improvements for these new sii'es including the galaxy nexus.
No nfc (shocked)
No lte.
No 3d.
No kickstand.
Awkward design compared to T-Mobile's
No ics until summer or fall...maybe later knowing its Samsung
No dual flash.
Has capitiated buttons rather than on screen ones
The back hump
Screen Res too low
Should be thinner
Small battery

SG3 to Note 2

Would like to know a users opinion? Beside the screen size, but just compared speed and software?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
The phone feels very similar to the sg3 due to software.
I have the sgs3 tmobile and they are really similar from a usage standpoint, meaning I felt right at home.
The speed is much much better, the spen is a nice addition and the camera takes better pictures in my opinion.
These are somewhat subjective comments but the real kicker for me is the battery life. Identical use, I dropped the note 2 to 50 pecernt where my sgs3 would have been looking for an outlet.
Seriously if you don't mind the size, the note 2 is an amazing upgrade.
Thank you for the response, wanted to get an actual users opinion.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I switched from the gs3 to the note 2 yesterday on release day. The size does take a little getting used to. After using the note 2 for a bit then picking up the gs3, the gs3 feels like the perfect size (whereas is used to seem huge compared to other phones). If there was a gs3 sized version of the note, I think that would be perfect.
With that said, I am almost certainly going to keep the note 2 and craigslist my gs3. The note 2 is still thin enough to feel comfortable in a jean pocket, though noticably heavier than the gs3. The pen is, of course, awesome. I dont find that the size hinders usability compared to the gs3. Some of the options that samsung has added to adjust the position of things on the screen for one-handed use actually makes it easier for me than the gs3 in some instances. Two handed typing with the keyboard is a joy on a screen this size. I never would have bothered writing a post like this on my phone before, even with the gs3. To me, the note 2 finally feels like a device I can use in lieu of a laptop in many instances.
Obviously still getting used to it since I'm on day 2, but it seems like a well thought out device. Having a digital note pad with a pen always in my pocket seems too good to pass up.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
The GS3 feels small to me now, lol.
The S Pen is sweeeet.
The stuff you can do with pen is phenomenal.
One trick I just learned by accident:
1) Away from the phone, press and hold the pen's button.
2) Touch the screen and hold it in a single spot.
3) A screenshot is taken and you are able to draw on it instantly with the pen.
It's FAST FAST FAST
Quadrant Screen: https://plus.google.com/107037072691216797796/posts/hnM2u75x5Tc
It fits in the 'ruler' pocket on my carpenter jeans, love that pocket.
I have large hands, Note 2 feels perfect for me.
I use Apex Home and set gestures, did this on other phones too:
Swipe Up: Show App Drawer
Swipe Down: Show Notification Shade
That will help if you feel you can't 'one-hand' it well.
I popped in a 64gig SDXC UHS-I sd card, no probs.
It then played an mkv with no worries.
I know apps have this too, but the floating, resizable video window is awesome.
Ever own a Palm? Miss the Handwriting Pad?
Well, S Pen offers handwriting-to-text in any textbox except passwords, as far as I found.
If you want, you can handwrite, speak, swype, or classic keyboard type your messages, lol.
I paid for Swiftkey3, but I probably will not use it.
Great camera, not sure if unique, but it takes pics while recording video.
As of this post, 14 hours into ownership.
Nutshell, I thought I loved Samsung before, but I had no idea.
I'm using Apex launcher right now on SG3. I came from HTC sensation, touchwiz was not my cup of tea. I jump the gun of the SG3 but it is a great phone. I was looking into the Note as I do not want a phone and a tablet. Felt the Note screen size would erase the need for tablet and still have a phone to talk on.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I sold my Galaxy s3 yesterday and got the Note 2 and my take on it is it's not for everyone. I feel the Galaxy s3 is the perfect size for one handed operation. The Note 2 is great and I can still operate it one handed but it's not as comfortable to use mostly due to it's size and material choice feeling a bit slick in the hand.
However I will say the large screen is a dream to use. I always wanted a tablet that could make phone calls if needed and this fits the bill perfectly for my needs. Overall I feels it's an excellent upgrade for anyone that can handle it's larger size.

I'm in the same boat having migrated from the HTC Sensation. Not having Sense is a downer for me because I actually appreciated it, but I'm starting to get used to Touchwiz. Since I'm only 3 days in with the device I still think I'll love this phone for a long time. The size is big, people won't understand why you have such a big phone at first, but that's fine. Once you load up a game or movie or really anything people will be very jealous of the beautiful screen. Also, a word on the battery. My old Senny had the Anker 1900 mAh battery, it would need a charge by about 6pm under moderate use all day (email, sms, pulse news). This is not the case with the Galaxy Note II. The battery life is absolutely phenomenal!!! Yesterday I unplugged and went to work at 5am, used the phone for probably 5 hours (played Minecraft, watched a news review video, read news for about an hour, and installed 32 apps, sms, email, wrote some notes in a meeting). At 4pm I still had 50% battery left and I did not charge the device once, heck I even went for a beer after work and listened to Pandora for about 2 hours. By the time I got home I had about 33% battery remaining. This is a really big success for me - the phone/tablet/phablet/faplet is just right. :good:
I feel Samsung has came a very long way with T-Mobile. These phones (SG3, Note & Note 2) are a beast. I love the day to day use with a launcher. HTC make good phones but focus on appearance. But with the cases it majority of the time changes the way the phone looks. Everyone had great comments, I guess T-mobile store is in my future.

It's good to see a lot of previous S3 owners here. I still have my S3 and planning to sell it on ebay soon. I got the Note 2 on launch day, been waiting for it for quite a while. Almost tempted to buy the international version, just couldn't live without the wifi calling. What I really like about the Note 2 is the placement of the volume button. On the S3 it was perfectly on the spot where my middle finger is when I use my thumb to press the power button to turn off the screen. I always end up adjusting my ringer volume and it became annoying for me. I don't have that problem anymore with the Note 2.

I'm coming from 3 previous versions of the Note original (international, ATT, and then Tmobile). Then i went with the S3 for a short time. I liked the S3's speed and ease of use, but I completely missed the Note's screen size and stylus. not to mention the battery life. The 2500mah on Note was good. It was tough to go to the S3's 2100 mah, but now with the Note 2, its GREAT!
Battery life is simply great. Here are my pros and cons
Pro:
- battery life
- screen size
- non pentile screen
- stylus with 1024 contact points instead of previous Note's 256
- thinner and easier to hold in one hand
- quad core speed!
- all the frequencies necessary. (LTE, AWS, International 3G, etc)
- 2gb RAM vs. Note's 1gb (S3 has 2gb for US versions)
- the upgraded Jelly Bean and Touch UX software. Really good with stylus
Con:
- larger to hold for some people
- developers have not fully adopted it (completely new phone)
- speaker volume (Note with custom rom had higher db) nothing a custom rom or audio hack can't fix
i probably have left a few things out, but you get the idea. Go with the Note 2. It's a good choice to future proof your phone.

You may want to unload the s3 sooner rather than later as I'm noticing they are starting to slash the prices of it.

Thanks for the advice Geo411m, I thought about that too, must sell quick while price is still good.

[Q] Would you recommend the G3?

I'm almost about to jump the gun on this phone (reviews seems alright) but I've seen mixed opinions so I wanted to ask some personal opinions from the owners of the phone? What do you love / hate?

It's an awesome phone, a lot of things are rad so the list would be huge Screen, size, power, speed.... Inn depth on each, It's all really really good.
Con list is shorter:
Battery can sometimes die before the day is out if you have bad signal or heavy use. (Screen off/deep sleep can last about 8 hours before you drop a percentage though)
Can get seriously hot around the button area on the back during heavy use (Gaming) or on a hot day while using it.
Camera isn't the best, there's a lot of noise if the light isn't quite right.
What other phones are you considering??
I have it for 7 days and I would definitely recommend it. But in white color, it is beautiful. Design is amazing, battery very good, camera outstanding.
Only thing I do not like are little lags, only with notification menu, but it can be fixed with some debloating. I do not like position of charging and audio port, but it is not a big issue. One more disadvantage is locked bootloader, but again this will be probably exploited, time is needed.
This is amazing and very fast phone, and I think you'll be amazed.

if you don't mind about locked bootloader then g3 is finest choice.
Hate:
- Overheating
- Oversharpening (halo effect) - please check if its fine for you
- Visible digitzer
- Yellow tone of display (if you don't have comparison it isnt that bad)
Love:
- Looks
- Camera
I came from G2, but I might go back. I hate halo effect. It drives me crazy. What's the point of QHD if its looks simply worse than Full HD because of effects that manufacturer put.
I strongly recommend this phone. The sharpening effect doesn't bother me and my phone very rarely, if ever, overheats (after some debloating and greenifying). There are a few stutters here and there but nothing major as the pros totally outweigh the cons.
The cameras are great and the design of the phone is stunning.

What do you mean by "bad signal" ?
I was considering maybe Note 3 or waiting for the Note 4 because my previous phone was a Note 2 but considering I never used the pen functionality, was considering G3 / HTC's.
Also thanks for all of you guys that have replied so far I think I will be pressing that purchase button

awesome. just wondering what color do you have? I'm torn between the black and white version :S
signal reception is not always the best. in some areas worser or no 3g reception. g2 and nexus 4 have better reception!
I have the charcoal color.I guess it is supposed to be black but it is more like a very dark silver. Looks cool.
I love the phone. The only con for me was the lg and tkobile bloatware. I got a T-Mobile with the unlocked boot loader so I rooted and disabled all that crap.
I'm using the Google keyboard and Nova launcher and this phone is the fastest ever used. Very smooth and responsive.
Battery life is amazing.
I upgraded from the Nexus 4 which I've loved but this one is awesome. I checked out the m8 and the Samsungs for about an hour in the store and chose the lg g3.
Great phone!

Shouldn't be a problem for me as I'll be in the city most of the times I'm using the phone!
Thanks for the input
If you don't care about lags then buy it. But before this try to play with both g2 and g3. Then I'm sure you never go for g3.
Great phone with good reception here. Clear calls always.
Camera is fantastic.
GPS and navigation is the fastest and most accurate on a phone I've EVER owned.
Came from a Xperia Z. No comparison and chose over HTC m8 and gs5.

Haha I had this dilemma too. Ended up with black, my mum, brother and mate said white looked a little feminine. Still think white looks sick though. But the black is pretty sexy

yea I'll be ordering my black G3 tomorrow! I felt like the white paint might scratch off easily so I decided to go with the black one. Looks pretty neato
I do recommend and I did to my girlfriend who jumped the sinking ship known as SS Apple and she loves her G3, minus little quirks.
