Well. ..
You may want to try another download. ..
Or at least a cache wipe and possibly a data reset.
I'm using the same rom and have no rotation issues. ..
I'm also on the TW launcher. ..g
Edit:
I've used the reflash method many times to repair rom issues. ..
Basically I re-download the same build again. . And flash it directly over the top of the existing rom...
It often fixes issues. .However. ..with Scott using his pre flash interface. ..it may wipe out the current setup anyway. ..
Just a thought. ..g

I've read that pulling the S-pen out will correct that issue. Sometimes..
But if it keeps happening then it sounds like it might ba sensor issue. But b4 you come to that conclusion. I would try a clean fresh install. Plus an internal wipe. So you'll not have anything on the phone..

First a little background. I am not new to the android world whatsoever. I don't post much but have been lurking for years. I had a Verizon GS3 and just recently switched to T-Mobile a few days ago and obviously bought a T-Mobile GS3. My vzw phone had no problems. But for some reason my T-Mobile phone will not boot any kernel I try to flash. Roms flash fine but when I flash a kernel everything goes fine in recovery but my phone won't boot past the splash and I end up having to restore a backup. I know I'm flashing the right kernels. I am on touchwiz based ROMs and haven't tried any aosp Rom because for the first time ever I actually prefer an OEM skin to aosp. So basically am I missing something obvious. Anyone else having thus problem. On Verizon I had to root and unlock the bootlosder. From what I understand tmobiles bootliader was not locked down and all I had to do was root. Like I said. I've tried every touch wiz Rom and every touch wiz kernel with each Rom and none will boot past the splash screen. I always wipe dalvik and cache but even tried wiping data every time too and keep getting the same result. Any input would be appreciated. . Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't need to do any wiping of any kind. I only use AOSP/AOKP, though. May I ask why you even bother with custom kernels? They honestly seem like a waste of time to me.
Im just flash happy. Like to try them out. I've been on Verizon for many Years and am used to the developers over there. I'm still getting used to the devs over here. Don't know any of there work. I'm sure its all good though. Been using imoseyons lean kernel since the thunderbolt back in the day and have stuck with them. Just my personal preference. I'd like to try some of tmobolrs kernel devs work but like I said I can't get a single one to boot.

What kernels have you tried to flash? There are a couple that have ICS builds. Also, what version of CWM are you using?
I've tried all the tw kernels. Every single one with 2 different ICS tw ROMs. I'm not using the leaked jb tw. I'm stickung with the more stable ICS ROMs for now. I just don't understand. I've tried every one. I've been flashing a long time and don't get it. Im kinda new to Samsung though. First Samsung was the galaxy nexus. Didn't ever use Odin with it. Does anyone flash kernels with Odin. Maybe I should try that. And to answer your question I've tried twrp and the latest version of cwm from rom manager. And of course I'm using the ICS TW version of the kernels im trying.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
It could just be your phone doesn't like them. There is another guy on CM10 and AOKP that can't get custom kernels to boot either.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
The kernel source code was never released for any build from UVALH2 and beyond. So most of our kernels will only work with UVALEM and UVALG1 builds.
We got kind of lucky I think and ktoonsez att kernel was brought over and works. I think there's one or two others that work now too.
As far as described here go I think we've got some of the best! For an outstanding rom you should try FreeGS3. It works with most of the kernels and is an awesome stable rom. If you want a later build try wildcards XquiziT v70 based on UVALH2. Use ktoonsez kernel with it.
And just to note, the stock kernel is surprisingly good. So give it a fair shot as well. Though I can definitely see some potential advantages of custom ones as well.

See if this will work. Sometimes you have to let it breathe so it can adjust itself.
Have you tried uding odin to flash MrRobinsons root66 UVALH2? This will take you to fresh full stock plus root. Then try roms again.

Whatever you do................
Be sure to double check before you flash that kernel. Had my first SGS3 for 12 days before hard brick set in. Terrible disease it is.......! I had to adopt a replacement shortly after to cope with the pain of the loss. Back on my feet again now though and soarin' higher than giraffe vagina on the things I learned in my days off for mourning. I can tell ya I've personally flashed the lean kernel and kt-747 with no issues. My problems were with siya mainly.
Guys, I have a serious problem.
It's similar to the one of the thread-opener.
The diference is that I cant get ANY ROM to boot, WITH the stock kernel.
And i do like the guide says: wipe/factory reset, wipe chache, wipe dalvik cache and then flash the ROM.
Everything works fine til the ROM finished flasing and runs a reboot.
My S3 shuts down screen, then turns screen on with the "Samsung Galaxy SIII-GT-I9300" and then thats it!
All i can do is to go in download mode or recovery mode. I can also flash CWM and so on, but after flashing ROMs it won't boot!
Is it possible that i broke the device by formating internal sd-card with the stock recovery tool?
Did it, after I tried to install Wickedv6 ROM and after both times when it rebooted it just reinstalled stock ROM. So i thought, ok delete the internal sd-card, so no stock ROM on it any more.
Also tried this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875923
Same problem.
Also tried to fix the problem by rooting and then flashing ROM. No help.
Please help guys!
Best regards

It worked out!
What is the right forum for my GT-I9300 to post then?
And why isn't any other ROM working?
The forum you got that stock rom from is the international one. This is the US Tmobile T999 forum. The two phones are NOT compatible.
Only flash, well...anything, from that forum. Our roms will brick yours and vice versa.

Hi there!
I have had an s3 for a few days now and love it!.
Any TW rom and my camera works just fantastic.
Any cm10/aokp/miui/etc rom and I just cant use the camera no matter what app I use to try it, whether it be the built in app or camera360/etc.
Driving me nuts and would love someone to help me. Anyway research I have done hasnt told me what I'm doing wrong.
I wipe cache/dalvik/factory reset/system before each rom. I have tried different kernels but nothing has helped.
Any gurus out there have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
Your install process would be and please link the files you are flashing... I'll try and help you. I've seen a few people mention this the past couple days.
The most recent I tried to flash was Illusion v1.1.18 - (d2tmo, d2att & d2vzw) - 1|18|13 from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037028
I downloaded Illusion-v1.1.18-d2tmo.zip and gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip.
I went into recovery which is twrp and the most recent version. I installed it with the goo.im app.
When in recovery I did:
1) Factory Wipe
2) Wipe Cache
3) Wipe Dalvik
4) Wipe System
I would then click Install and select the rom file, and after it succesfully flashed I would then flash the gapps file. All were successful.
I would then reboot and the rom would boot up fine. I setup my google account and all that then for the heck of it I would reboot.
I then would try the camera app and it would complain that it couldnt connect to the camera basically. I went into the play store and tried a free version of camera 360, puddle camera, etc and all would not work.
I went back into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik again, hopped on one foot, faced east, and clicked my heels together. Upon reboot the camera does not work.
I have wiped all that and tried to install [Kernel][JB] Leankernel: Minimalistic Kernel for D2TMO/D2ATT (AOSP) v2.3 [1/17/13] which flashed fine. Upon reboot I could change voltages to undervolt, mess with governors but cameras still do not work.
I have a backup of two TW roms (one stock) and both of the those roms work beautifully with whatever camera I try, including the built in/stock camera.
I hoped I didn't leave out something. If there is something I missed than I'm an idiot because it seems like I am really missing something.
Thanks for your help.
I don't see any reason your steps lead to that, the exact steps I take every time to flash. I'm researching but in the mean time, go to app manager and wipe cache and data from gallery... Are you using the same Gapps over and over on each try? Might wanna try a different set.

I did that earlier with no luck.
I just force stopped on gallery, wiped cache/data, rebooted, and I tried the camera only to get the same message.
Thank you for that tip but I will continue my research also.
Just because I looked at about phone.
Model of phone is SGH-T999 (just in case someone thinks I'm in the wrong forum"
Baseband version is T999UVDLJA
Kernel is of course 3.0.59-leanKernel
AOKP Version is Illusion v1.1.18 d2tmo
Build number is aokp-d2tmo-userdebug 4.2.1 (I truncated the rest)

I have downloaded this gapps twice for the last rom http://goo.im/devs/itsmikeramsay/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip.
For the miui rom there was a gapps that was specific to miui and had miui in the name. The miui rom's camera didnt work.
I'll look for a different gapps if that might be the problem but since I have tried a couple roms and a few different gapps I feel that might not be the issue.
I still will give it another try though. Just have to find another gapps to try.

So I've done the whole rom flashing thing a bunch. Hd2, infuse, note 2, mytouch and I've never had this happen.
I can flash any tw rom I want amd no problems at all. But no matter what aosp or non tw rom, I can never pass the bootanimation.
I've tried PA, carbon, liquid, and beanstalk. All of them with gaps and without gaps, Tried multiple downloads of each.
Let the boot animation run for 15 minutes. I did download straight to my phone as I don't have access to a computer.
To be honest I was just wanting to play around with 4.2.2 but when I couldn't get it to run it pissed me off and now I'm on a mission.
Don't know what else to try and amy help would be appreciated.

I download the roms and the gaps. Boot into twrp and do all my wipes 3 times. System, dalvik, cache. Install rom. Install gaps. Reboot.
I've tried without the gaps. I've wiped dalvik after that also like some roms suggest.
I chalked it up to bad download at first but all of them? I may try again with a different browser.
Tried boat browser and Firefox. Both hang at boot animation
I'm on cleanrom 4.7 now. Glad I made a backup!

I figured it out. I had grabbed the new beanstalk build before it was pulled. For some reason when I tried to flash it, it added a seperate folder in my internal sdcard and moved every file into it. For some reason trying to flash from that new folder wouldn't work. Twrp wouldn't see anything in the old folder.
I moved the ROM and gapps to the external card and everything flashed perfectly.
Weird.

That hidden folder is a legacy folder. .
It's placed as a safeguard during the flash process. ..in the event that data/media...or other important files get deleted. .
The TWRP recovery will prevent deletion of the media files. ..but CWM does not. .
You can still delete your EFS and other critical partitions with TWRP..but they warn you first where CWM does not. .
The legacy folder can be used to restore deleted data later if a problem occurs. ..And should be left there when using roms with modified file structures like CM....g
Thank you for the info. Was just weird that I can't flash from that folder anymore.

Flash Rom 8.1 base let it sit for 10 minutes. Set it up play store etc.
TRY and reboot to recovery. Wipe C/D cache, flash update 8.2 reboot.
Let it sit again for like 5 mins. Then flash what ever add on's you'll like to add in...
