Moar Rom, ktoonsez kernel, universal ktweaker presets.
Runs great.

You should definitely root if you want all the extra customization/tweaks that are available now. I'm on the MOAR ROM. Best one I've been on and I've tried a lot. Battery life is great with stock or Ktoonsez kernel.

Oh common Ed... OP Asked what THE PEOPLE are running :silly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013463

definitely root. I ran freegs3 v3 for a while with the ktoonz 747 kernel. I had great battery life and the kernel made it very snappy and responsive. I was also able to undervolt a LOT, however it gave me a few issues here and there once I did that. (mostly screen issues, lines while swiping in a few heavier processing apps, with a reboot on occasion).
Now I'm experimenting with freegs3 v4 which is still a beta. Definitely going to be great....but right now it still has a few minor bugs.

[Q] Rom with great battery

Hi all I'm still very new to this whole rooting stuff.
I'm using aokp build 38 this is the 1st Rom I've used
And lately I'm having a much better battery life than stock. But I just want to ask if there's a much better Rom out there that has great performance and battery.
Also could you name the Roms and what are so good about them?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Everyone has a different opinion on this. There is no one rom that gives each phone good battery. Your best bet is to just try them out yourself.
Oh okay. Thanks what would you recommend?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I personally like liquid smooth ROM and Airkernel
I'd recommend the redemption Rom.
The Dev claims that he is only fixing errors created by Google.
Ans he's right. 2 hours screen time v 4 hours is the way to go.
It's also notably faster and doesn't randomly reboot to often.
He does a video changelog for his rom. Which I believe is a characteristic of a dev who is proud of his work.
But whatever you use. Use it for at least a week.
Would be good to also mention what phone model. Gsm,Verizon, sprint.
With these kind of threads, you might as well just ask what everyone's favorite ROM is or what ROM they're currently using. You'll only rarely get a different answer, and there are already threads for all three subjects to begin with.
Guy above me has a point.
But, AOKP B39 and Franco M4 works wonders for me.

Other than possibly in benchmarks, where's the performance difference between AOKP and CM9? I've tried both and currently run AOKP and I didn't notice any difference it performance between the two.
MCR from Paul Obrien over at Modaco. Together with the Franco kernel. Great performance and battery-life

Wtf is wrong with stock? I run rooted stock and I'm completely happy with it. What exactly is she using the phone for? If she isn't an enthusiast like most of us, she wouldn't be able to tell the difference. If all she is doing is texting, using social networking, watching videos, and talking, stock is fine. If you're feeling risky, experiment.
She likes the themes and toggles. She's been hooked since cm6

I would guess CM, but I don't know how far along in development CM10 is. I'm sure there is something out there. There are just so many ROMs it isn't even funny.
Personally, if you want stability, I'd rock CM10 or AOKP.
Many of the others are simply mashups if the two; and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I put my full trust in Roms who have written the majority of their own code rather than Cherry Picking commits from others.
In the long run, it's her/your choice.
But I've had great success, personally, with AOKP.
That being said, my bread-and-butter may not match yours.
The best bet would be to teach her how to flash Roms herself so she can try each one for a day or so.
Post two of the guide in my sig would be a good place to send her.
She can then get herself up and running; and won't have to continually rely on you.
I've been running AOKP nightly builds and recently their official Build 1 and haven't had any problems even though I've been lazy and dirty flashed the last two updates. +1 to AOKP JB Build 1
How about Eclipse? I've been running that on Jellybean for a long time, totally rock solid.

Best Rom/kernel

Hi everybody. New to the world of android, roms, kernels, etc. I want to know various opinions on what is the best rom available mainly for battery life and debloating. I want my wifi calling and multiwindow. Also a good kernel for battery life. Just looking for opinions thanks.
from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
Anybody?
from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
Well if you want both your gonna have to run the stock rom for now with the latest ota. For the best kernel I really like asylumcore. Also in the n7100 forums you can find the neak kernel. Its very nicely featured and on a bunch of samsung devices.
You should try the Jedi X Series if you don'y care about WiFi Calling, and Jedi Master Series if you do. Trust me, it's amazing!

He said wifi calling and multiwindow are important to him, so jellybam is out.
I agree though it is awesome and even though I miss some stuff from stock, such as multiwindow and the ability to access the notification bar from full screen apps, I am stuck on jellybam

[Kernel][AOSP] BasicKernel 01/31

Okay.. Most of you people know who I am.. and if you know me you know I am not much of a kernel dev ... Regardless, I love AOSP but while running CM10.1, I felt I was missing some things that were more readily available for a Stock ROM.. Things such as (unofficial)Voodoo sound, Overclocking and Undervolting.. So I went ahead and forked CM's kernel and added a few needed things.
Notes:
Thie kernel is for AOSP only!
This kernel include's codeworkx's downgrade to mali r2p4 commit from CM's gerrit.. In this commit codeworkx specifically states that there is a memory leak. Now I will also say this.. This downgrade greatly improves the graphical glitches found in the android 4.2 ROMS, IE no more keyboard funkyness etc... I have yet to see this leak myself and think the trade-off is worth it. If this causes serious issues for people let me know.
Features:
Unofficial Voodoo sound driver (otherwise this has not been reviewed and approved by Supercurio)
OverClock up to 1.8 Ghz
CPU Undervolting
Downgrade to mali r2p4 which fixed graphic glitches

Is this compatible with Stweaks for tuning issues?
Is the voodoo like sound a port of "scooby do" code?

no this is not compatable with stweaks nor is is Scoobydoo sound.. It does work with the voodoo sound app though.. I will say this again.. This has not been tested nor approved by SuperCurio so he could very well block the download from the app store which is in his right to do. Regardless I am sure he will eventually release proper support for Voodoo in the near future and when he does I will add it.

Loving this kernel but unfortunately I have seen the aforementioned memory leak. First time earlier today Tasker complained of low memory. Been running Tasker for a while and never have I had it complain until I flashed kernel. Second time was later today when I noticed I only had ~200 mb of ram free and hasn't used my phone in hours. I have a widget on homescreen with system stats so it's hard to miss. Liking the OC/UC ability and voodoo though. Thanks again.

My phone drains 0.2-0.3% per hour on the stock kernel (on wifi with a decent router). The TW custom kernels are not worth using, in my opinion. Now AOSP on the other hand... yikes. Pretty much have to use them.

I'm running HyperDrive Rom and Ktoonsez Kernel. I have tweaked much of the cpu frequencies and used the ktoon governor. However, my battery life compared to the stock rom isn't that great.
Every phone is different so will run different on your phone. I do recommend Dandroid. It now has wifi calling. Complete based on T999. It used to be a port. It's super smooth with great battery life. And it's Cyanogenmod themed.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
There are no "best" rom/kernel combinations for battery. It varies from phone to phone. You could try testing different TouchWiz roms and kernels, but remember to make a nandroid before doing so. Some roms you could try are wicked, stockorama, hyperdrive, etc. For the kernels you should use the stock kernel for stability or ktoonsez.
