Just though I'd share this since it works just fine for me. Just download the .apk and install it like any other app. Now you have the ability to shoot photospheres!

Does this replace the lg camera app? I think quick access to camera from the quick key and dedicated camera button trumps Googles camera app.

Nope. It installs completely separate from the LG app. It also installs the AOSP Gallery app alongside LG's as well.

You can set the Quick Button to call up any app you want. I already switched my Quick Button to open the AOSP Camera app. As far as the dedicated hardware button goes, you can use the volume rocker as the shutter key for the AOSP Camera.
Cool I'll check this out

Photospheres are pretty cool. I guess it's just something to play with. I still predominately use the LG camera app.
I guess a better answer would be "because we can!"

LOL!
My boss calls me a negative nancy. I just happen to think photospheres, and Google-stock in general, is overrated.
This is good news because the more apps google they put on the Play store the less fragmentation there will be.
the lg camera app can already do photospheres already. the vr panorama mode...when it backed up the ones i've taken to my google plus account it let me scroll around in it just fine so it appears to be done pretty similarly to the google version of it. i actually prefer the lg gallery app too. lets u resize the thumbnails with simple pinching to make em bigger or smaller and even hide folders from view (some of my ebooks have the cover art stored in the folder too)

After switching to Stock GB I really miss the sense camera app anyone have any suggestions?
I'm using the HTC amaze camera
sent from g2
im pretty sure the amaze cam is only for sense roms and like he said hes on stock gb
I use FXCamera from the market. Not quite Sense, but it has more features than the stock camera app. It's too bad the Sense app needs the Sense framework (though it makes 100% sense that it does) because I love it for what it's able to do.. Just made the transition back to AOSP just because =p
I think Vignette is a really good camera app. Costs a few bucks but is definitely worth it IMO.

I'm using ProCapture, it's pretty sweet. Many options, I really like the widescreen option for a panaroma shot.
Can I find ProCapture on market?
Camera 360 Ultimate is very full featured.

it says in free version that "PAID version available which adds access to higher resolutions."
does "higher resolutions" mean here, that higher than the camera resolution like interpolation or, the free version shoots at lower resolution eg. max 2mp may be? app seems nice but this sentence make me think...
I like the amaze cam mod.

GET THIS AMAZING APP HERE
Interface
When you launch the app, you get a menu system that lets you choose
one of four options: capture, gallery, collage and share. Diving into each,
the UI is generally what you'd expect. The buttons are self-explanatory,
and you get a regular phone camera-style viewfinder.
Filters
PowerCam offers a decent set of filters, most of which are a bit too over-the-top
for my own taste. You get a standard set of minor filters to lightly tweak the coloring
of the scene that are quite nice, but the rest are a bit out there and I really don't
see many people using them. For the ones that I liked, it seemed to work well enough.
It should also be noted that there is a "no filter" mode for when you have the app open
and want a "regular" shot.
Tilt-Shift
The tilt-shift method, if you're not familiar, is something usually accomplished with
a special camera lens to produce interestingly focused images. The main subject
is sharply in focus, and everything else is quickly out of focus right next to it.
On a smartphone, its all done in post-processing. PowerCam seems to do a pretty
good job, and you can really get some good shots if you spend some time with it.
Panorama
I was surprised by the panorama quality. Using the app on my Galaxy Nexus,
it captured them more consistently and much quicker than the built-in panorama
feature of the Android 4.x camera.
Collages
Something that's going to be very user-dependent is the collage feature.
You can select several pictures you've taken and form them into framed multi-shot pictures.
The UI is friendly enough, just select from your picture list which ones you want,
and it'll arrange them randomly with a frame. You can shuffle the pictures around
and select the frame style, but I was hard-pressed to find frames that I actually enjoyed.
Sharing
PowerCam has built-in sharing functionality to Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
Wish that it would use a regular sharing menu and let you use other apps (like Google+),
but it doesn't really matter, as you can share from your Gallery app to anything installed
on your phone after the fact.

Why does the shutter button look like the one on iPhone? In fact, why bother making an Android camera app that completely rips off the iphone camera app's interface?

Hello,
I am looking for an app tha replaces the camera app on CM11. The one in CM11 is buggy and the screen does not show the actual picture it is zoomed in always for some reason. I tried Google Camera (but it doesnt save on SD), I tried Better Camera but I dont like it's design.
I am looking for an app that replaces BOTH video recorder and camera photo shooter, like better camera does.
Thanks.
Usually when I debloat CM11 roms I remove the camera app as well. I use this lightweight ICS Camera...I have attached the apk...you can try that but options and controls take up some screen space....good luck

Why do you think that the cm11 cam is buggy? It functions quite well. Yes, there is this issue that the actual taken picture is bigger than shown on the screen while taking the foto but I remember this was present in earlier versions of cm too. If you have any other issues feel free to post them in the nighties/snapshot bugs & discussion thread or post them to Jira.

Its not buggy. Actually by default the picture size is 8mp (4:3 ratio), so the cm camera in order to fit the preview in the 16:9 screen, it crops the bottom side of the picture. Now, if you change the size to 6mp (16:9 ratio), the photo will have exactly the same size with the preview screen if that's what you want but it'll have lower resolution (6mp instead of 8mp). I attached two photos to see the difference. The first one has 3264x1836 (6mp) resolution while the second has 8mp 3264χ2448 (8mp) resolution.

Hey guys, I'm planning to order the LG G3 from AT&T today but wanted to first check if the photo sphere works. I hear there are issues with the focus (maybe something related to the laser focus). Could someone with an LG G3 install the google camera and give it a try reporting on the quality of the image?
THANK YOU!
Google camera works great. Here is a few pics. Focuses in very quick too. No settings for 4k recording tho. Sorry for the boring pics lol, i would say image quility is just as good from a stock google camera app

Google camera and Google Photos apps are all you need (Photos comes with G+ app, not as a standalone app) I have taken some photosphere pics both in and outdoors without issues, worked well and the results were quite impressive on each. Again, stock gallery app doesn't support this feature.
Hi all, just a few questions regarding the Pixel XL 2 as I'm trying to decide between that and the Note 8.
Has anyone successfully gotten ATT to activate it for WiFi calling? I've heard mixed things on this that there's something in the 8.1 update that enables this or that some people have had success by hitting ATT up on twitter but nothing concrete.
Is it possible to do take dual camera photo like Samsung has? IE, I take a photo using the better back camera and it uses the front facing camera to get me and superimpose the front photo in the corner?
And in order to create folders in the app drawer ill need to use a different launcher, is that correct?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Hi! I can only answer the third question... and you're right like Nova Launcher for example.
About question 2, never heard of this sort of option, not possible with stock Google camera to my knowledge! What's the point?
At this time there is no WiFi calling on ATT with Pixel 2/XL.
VoLTE (or HD Voice as ATT calls it) IS possible provided you meet all the requirements.
Most likely need a third party app for dual camera.
Yes, pixel launcher will not allow folders in app drawer.

Gotcha, thanks!
For the camera thing, its not a huge deal, but its a small feature I really like. If you want to take a photo of something with elements both in front of and behind the camera, it lets you do that. For example, you can take a photo of a car or building and put yourself in it without needing a selfie stick or moving your arm all over the place to try and get the right angle. I found a photo here that kinda shows the types of insets and layouts you can use.

Ok I see now! Obviously you'll need a third party app for fuel camera.
