I see that modders clearly specify that roms are for N5100 or differently for N5110.
Thus, I assume there are substantial differences between the two devices, other that the 3G/phone module. Is this correct?
Is it possible to adapt N5100 roms in order to make them work on N5110?
Not substantial differences, just wait I will download a n5110 firmware to look for.
Edit: please upload a meta-inf folder from a n5110 rom

I believe the civ Rom is a n5100 Rom ported to work on the 5110. There may be additional drivers for the 5100 variety as it has the 3g radio hardware

Maybe a newb question but if all the Galaxy Note 2 devices are the same (hardware wise), can we just take a N7100 or sprint or att rom, unzip it, and remove the radio.img and kernel.img and flash over our cleanly wiped stock ROM? I'm just curious what it'll take to get some of the better N7100 ROM's going on our device.

Basically,
N7105, AT&T, T-Mobile Note 2's are compatible with one another.
The N7100 ROMs will nuke other Note 2's because of difference is hardware. DO NOT install. In it's current form, it will nuke your IME and you will not be able to get any service (I learned the hard way).
Once the N7105 gets AOSP, the other should quickly follow suit due the congruent hardware platform.
so i can go to the att section of xda adn download whatever roms there and install on my tmo version without any hassle or modification?
Pretty much yes. You'll have to install a T889 kernel and Modem after you flash it. Unfortunately, the AT&T ROMS don't really have that much more offer us.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
So we have 3 versions?
1: N7100
2: N7105/Tmo/ATT
3: VZW/SPR
And the differences would be in kernels and radio's, but ROM's should cross?

Yes bur ROMs are not compatible across devices in different numbers (from your list)
I am going to start trying to build AOSP for the TMOBILE version. Hopefully something comes out of that. I'll need an AOSP kernel first.

Correct, they would need ported from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, etc... Whereas if they're in the same "family" all the differences lie in the kernel and radio. That stuff can be pulled out, reflashed on top, etc. Easy day

You can check under your Settings>About Phone It should all be there. It shouldn't be a problem as long as the specs are the same. But just to be sure. Check out GSMarena

The rom should work properly in all the functions except the RADIO (Call,SMS,web).
I think that the only difference between i8150 and i8150T is the antenna.

Ok. I've read it.
So, as I understand I can do that but the RADIO won't work.
What should I do than? Can I flash without changing the radio? Can I install another file afterwards to make the radio work?

If the radio would get broken he probably would brick his phone. Fortunally this will not happen. The only thing that might get broken is the modem. So loosing Mobile Data.
See here
What could work to fix the modem is to replace it with one for the i8150. Meaning only the modem but not the baseband and having a copy of the 8150T modem (and baseband) just in case.
There is a guide on how to extract the baseband and there are links to flashable zips which are containing the baseband and modem for the 8150. So such a zip would need to be modified by removing the baseband there and just keeping the modem in it.
Anyway, even if this shouldn´t work you still can simply revert back by restoring your backup you hopefully made with CWM Recovery before flashing a 8150 firmware.

Yes you can flash N7105 ROMs on your T889. They're pretty much the same phone just the N7105 is the international version. Pretty much any ROM you see for t0lte is safe to flash on N7105/ T-Mo/AT&T Note 2's. There is a list of ROMs in the dev section also. Just make sure you always have a backup of your current ROM in case you run into any trouble.

If the rom does not have a option to retain your current radio.. after you flash the rom . you will have to flash the correct t- mobile radio ..
So read the OP Post carefully in that rom thread. or ask the op about this..There have been people say they have lost imei number due to incorrect radio.. So understand what you are doing first..
If your not experienced with android and so on. Its SAFER TO STAY With roms in the development area of this forum... Thou some in the other forums do state to work with what your asking..
Its not always the same for every rom. so there is really not a true yes or no answer to the question..
as said above they will all work.. but might need modem change

Yeah any ROM for t0lte is going to be AOSP, which is pure Google I.e. nexus devices. AOSP ROMs dontn have spen features or multi window features. So if you want those features and want an international based ROM I suggest JediX 16. It can be found in the Dev thread here. It's Samsung TW so it has all the functionality you need and had the latest N7105 4.1.2 base. So check it out. Hope I didn't confuse you.

Wondering if anyone was daring enough to try flashing the International N9005 firmware on the Tmo Note3?
Looking at buying a Tmo Note 3 soon to run on ATT and would love to have it run the International N9005 Firmware (no carrier bloat)
If you have can you provide the details info? also will you get the updates like a normal N9005? any chance of an update containing a radio update that will brick the phone?
excuse the noobness of the questions, I don't normally tinker with good working phones. (currently running a genuine S4 google play edition) looking at a note 3 now....

I would think Flashing any n9005 ROM (which usually is modem-less), would work since the hardware is the same.

I have flashed a few N9005 rom on my T-mobile note 3. Probam Rom..X-Note Rom and BobCat Rom. Also i just flashed knoxraid(AT&T Rom). I flashed all of the roms through TWRP. Make sure you use the T-mobile compulsion kernel or the Wildchild kernel.
There is a wifi fix I use on every i9005 build I do, I am at work, do not have it handy, but it fixes these issues....go to the i9005 forum, and go to the earlier posts, the wifi fix is there......

Proudly presenting LGaljo kernel!
This is the first time I have built kernel only and worked in first try
It is a stock kernel built from Samsung sources, nothing is changed (yet).
It should work on cm12.1 rom for others I don't know.
As @aapav01 said this kernel should work on:
Code:
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 3G
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE
Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (i9301i/i9300i)
Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini
Downloads:
Download 1
Mirror 1
How to install:
DO BACKUP!
Flash the zip file trough CWM/TWRP recovery (tested through TWRP)
Changelog:
28. 5. 2015
Code:
-initial release
source: https://github.com/LGaljo/android_kernel_samsung_s3ve3g_LL
Sorry for not noticing that, but I have found that updater-script doesn't work. I will try to find out what is going on and then add links back (everything will be clear over this weekend). Sorry again
