Backup question - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Ok I'm rooted and stock. I'm using Titanium backup to backup all my apps. But I want to restore all my apps on a new phone that is not rooted so cant use Titanium backup. What app can I use that does not need root to restore my backup?

I'm not aware of any app that can restore a backup made with titanium, other than titanium of course.
If you want to make a new backup there may be something in the play store that doesn't require root. Not sure of anything specific though.

Yeah I'm not trying to use the titanium backup. I just need an app that doesn't need root. I would use that to make a new backup and restore that backup on the new phone.

Either Rooted or Custom Recovery, are the only ways that I know of. Why not root the new phone? You could always "Unroot" it after you have restored everything.

The new phone is the HTC one. I'm reading way too many issues with it after people root and sometimes on stock. So if my phone has problems I don't want to spend time unrooting to send out back.

Great I find a couple apps that work.

you could use ADB but its more of a pain than any other method, heres a link to an .exe for that will do it for you (NO-ROOT) http://lifehacker.com/5976036/simpl...droid-phone-from-the-desktop-no-root-required windows

Find the rom on here and flash it yourself. Be sure to backup using Titanium or some similar tool and then with Nandroid before you do your rom install. Then after the install you can use Titanium to restore your apps and data.
As always be sure to read up on what exactly you're doing so you can minimize the risk of messing something up.

[Q] App migration with Titanium Backup SGS3

Anyone have any issues migrating apps from a My touch 4g (not slide) To a SGS3? I only ask because I'm picking up a new SGS3 today, and that I root the phone, and install my titanium backup from the app store, will it allow me to move the files from my sd card to my new device? Has anyone done this and succeeded? Is there a HAL system with android phones? Or will I have to download all the apps again? Thanks

It depends what your migrating. System apps are iffy. Also if you haven't purchased titanium yet I would recommend ROM toolbox pro... its superior

I had some issues with a handful of user apps. But through titanium (it's an option) made a zip that I flashed and tada done.
Where is the option for a zip? Are you talking about in the backup options to make an update, titanium zip for recovery? Which will install titanium backup and the apps?

Rom Toolbox pro has all the features of titanium backup and more..its' like a packaged deal in one. It backs up apps, allows extraction from Nandroid backups, has Root explorer, terminal emulator, Ad Blocker, build.prop settings, change fonts, CPU control, Autorun Manager, & many more apps.
I also heard that if you root the SGS3 it voids the warranty? Or is that when you change the bootloader to CWM? Any thoughts?

Lol when you root any phone it voids the warranty. So if you need to cash in on warranty then reset flash counter and Odin to stock after wiping and formatting.

Yeah I was trying to explain that you first need to reset the flash counter, and you use triangleaway to do this, then you need to format your phone, and then you need to Odin to stock. There are plenty of guides and manuals on how you can do this, just a Google search resetting flash counter

Note II: Restore apps from Titanium backup to non rooted phone.

Hey this is my first post on xda. So I just wanted to know if I ever was to unroot my phone on stock firmware will I be able to use titanium backup to restore my apps? Or will I have to copy all the files from the enternal memory before the unrooting process and put it on a computer then putting it back inside the internal storage when it is non rooted.
Sorry if this didn't make any sense but some help would be helpful.
Thanks.

can u run titanium backup without root?
didnt it require root when u run the app?
I just wanted to know whether you can restore apps without root like restoring levels on games or restoring apps to a non rooted device so the contents would be saved

Titanium Backup required root access. You should try using other method/apps without the need of root access.

if u cant run titanium backup without root, how can u even do the restore action.....
Titanium won't run on non rooted device, so you can't restore game or data.
there are few other SW can run on non rooted phone, if you have backup with that, but remember data (game level) can't be restore without having root.
So restore first then unroot.

Which program do you use to sync your apps?

Planning to do a factory reset and was wondering which program is best to sync my apps and its layout? I just dont want to redo my phones layout again.
Titanium backup or rom toolbox pro. Both work good.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Both of those required rooting my phone?
Sorry, if your not rooted then maybe try carbon backup. It has a way to backup apps plus data without root. Otherwise to backup the apps data too I'm pretty sure you need to be rooted.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Before I rooted I used my backup pro (but the free one works too) and I would back up apps and data and then install the app again after flash and everything would go back the way it was.

[Q] CWM backup help!

Hey guys. I was wondering if there was an app or a program that could take a backup of my phone like the one from cwm. See i have a permanently locked bootloader and i want to try out the 4.3 firmware, without losing all my customisations on my current firmware. If thereis an app or a program that makes such backups, link it to me. THANKS

Well, if you have root then you can use this app. Another option would be using "adb backup" command, this one works without root but some contents may not be backed up...
Thanks for the reply, but there is one problem, that app doesn't allow me to restore the backup that i have made. Is there any app for that, or is it just impossible. By the way, i have a rooted phone, i just cannot unlock the bootloader
Sent from my C2005 using xda app-developers app
Uh, I forgot that, Online Nandroid Backup only makes the backup, a recovery is still needed to restore, so, it's useless for you. You'll have to stick with adb backup then, it'll backup most of your apps and data, but modifications you made directly to system (buil.prop changes, files flashed with Flash Gordon, etc) will be lost...
Ah ok thanks bro. I'll just wait until a root method for licked bootloaders has been discovered on 4.3.
Thanks again
