Best bet: root, install CM10.1 Stable, enjoy Pie controls  then you have NO bottom buttons. Check out some YouTube videos of PIE controls to see it in action.

there's an app called "hide soft keys" that expands the screen and hides em. You just swipe upward from the bottom to make them show, and in doing so, they are transparent when they show.
If you hack stock, then you aren't stock anymore.
If you want custom stuff, flash a custom rom with the features built in. All roms come from the same source code. Custom Roms = Stock + new features. Most roms have statusbar and navbar transparency settings. CM10.1 does NOT though. Most others do though.

No one is asking about PIE controls. I tried PIE controls for a week and honestly can't stand it. I don't need FULL screen overlay just to go back a page.
Regardless, the OP is talking about transparent status and nav bars. CM10.1 does NOT offer transparent status and nav bars unlike most other roms. Honestly that is the 1 thing keeping me from using CM10.1.
Bottom line is if you want custom settings and configurations, why not just use a rom that already has those features built in? Hacking and slashing those features in yourself will be MUCH more unstable and have fewer control over the options.

I did not make these themes and mods I just put them together for myself. Works on Toro and ToroPlus (see post 3).
Included in the zip:
gsxrdon's Black theme
Jase33's Black themed MMS
24dp navbar (portrait and landscape)
1% battery mod
Just flash in recovery and you're good to go.

uploaded the wrong file initially. It has been corrected.
This is absolutely the nicest combo out there. If any Sprint users are interested this works great on the Toroplus. It changed the Sprint to roaming indicator off but everything else is golden. I love the transparent menus!

Ive tried it with most of the JB roms, and I haven't found a problem with any so far. I'm using Vicious V3 right now.
Just Toro plus or will this work on Verizon GNex too?

I've only personally tested it on a VZ Nexus (Toro) and works perfectly, although it has been mentioned earlier that it works on ToroPlus also.

Theme just tested and confirmed to be fully working on GSM (Maguro) GNex.
Really good looking theme! Thanks!
If I didn't JUST get my JB all setup, I would totally use this. Looks very clean and well done. I'll probably download it just to have in the future.

However, i would prefer circle % battery, but finding a mod working on the rom i use + all other stuff
Thanks
well done!
I'm gonna be a newb in this thread for a sec and ask...what does
24dp navbar (portrait and landscape)
1% battery mod
do?
battery mod I'm assuming puts the percentage in the top status bar? whats 24dp do?
Also, this works on JB right? If I nandroid first, then flash and don't like, I can always go back?

Umm, what exactly is JRO03C? I really wanna flash this on my phone but I fear the risk of bricking my phone :/
Awesome, awesome and awesome. This is what i need for my Vanilla JB and burned pixels in status bar. Thank you! =)
Hmmm... Interesting. Interesting indeed. I lost ALL my mods in the process, but... It's worth it, I guess?

So far so good. I can confirm that it works flawlessly even on custom launcher (Apex Launcher Pro).
Thanks for the mod, But can it stay transparent while in-app? D:
Can it be that the navigation bar would change color to match that of the app you're running currently? is it attainable? please fill me in
Check this out!
I dont know, why my navigation and status bar are original black and not transparent? I have only Moto buttons. System is clear instalation from Bigxie (clear JRO03C only deodexed).

Hi devs.
This might be an extra thread so if it is, I apologize and it can be locked. I've searched for one but couldn't find.
I've been getting used to using the stock browser rather than what Google called chrome.
On it is a lab feature for quick control like illustrated below.
Is there any similar or possible mod for NavBar to appear this way through out Android system on Nexus 4?

Although this doesn't make the phone fill screen, I bet you can get a ROM that takes navigation bar out.
Also follow the installation instruction provided on the link!

AOKP has a feature called "Expanded Desktop" which can be toggled through the power menu that allows the NavBar to be hidden.
Check that out.
There's also Button Savior which can be hidden until you want them back. I like them.

Its actually on my CM10.1 as well. I just wished there was a sort of gesture to the CM version. Instead of pushing the power button for expanded screen.
Hopefully someday.
Swagged out of my N⁴ using XDA Premium
On paranoidandroid, in beta 8 and beyond there's a setting that lets you reduce the navigation bar to 0%, which gets rid of the navigation bar but still keeps the status bar.
I've been using my nexus like this with LMT, and it works perfectly, with the extra 80 something pixels from navigation bar. it looks really nice.
There is an app. it is called hidebar
www.ppareit.github.com/HideBar
it stays in the notifs and when you tap it it removes the buttons until you touch either the top or bottom of the screen which brings them back.
have fun
I guys I was guessing if were possible to make a ICS/JB theme for stock roms which included modded statusbar, icons, settings and even the loading animation (I mean the animated circle). Thank to everyone that helps this device owner and the community.

Wwll some prebuild ones are released but only 6 toggles work at moment + need to do a lot of layouts still :/
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app
How do you mean pre-build? Can I flash them as an update? I only need 4 toggles(i like it simple)
a you can tell I am new to all of this so apologize for all the questions.
I've searched a bunch and found some threads in the S3 section, but I'm not sure they apply for 4.2.2: is there a way to get a transparent or semi-transparent status bar and nav bar? I'm running MMuzzy's French Vanilla ROM, which is fairly close to stock configuration.
Do I have to edit systemUI and tweak the color?
Any help would be appreciated.

Also don't want to change ROM just for this mod, so I just got rid of it altogether(it's completely transparent now! LOL) and get to enjoy the full 4.65" screen, using pie:
https://picasaweb.google.com/m/zoom...14080322&viewportWidth=320&viewportHeight=416
https://picasaweb.google.com/m/zoom...07331394&viewportWidth=320&viewportHeight=416
I thought there was a way to decompile systemui and can the color/transparency code, but maybe I'm wrong?
