I have been flashing without a full wipe and there hasn't been any issues with doing that, all my apps have been exact same just the rom has been changed. if you want you can backup apps using file expert app on to you SD and then just install them without re-downloading them
So copy room to sd card, run the boot img then recovery and install rom?

1) backup all the apps if you don't want to re-download them later.
2) put the rom of your choice on the SD storage
3) Once you do that then put the phone on fastboot usb by holding the the power and volume button down i assume you know that right
4) then run the boot.img
5) Once that is done then unplug the usb go to recovery mode and install from zip.
this is where you decide if you want a full wipe or without wipe but before any install from zip do a complete rom backup using the backup/restore option in the recovery mode menu

Waitwaitwaitwait, why so complicated?
Just use TitaniumBackup, it's free in the market, it backups all your apps + their data! ;-) You can also createa an CWM-flashable ZIP which installs TitaniumBackup as a System app, so you just have to run it when on Leedroid 6.xx, and it will do everything for you.

ok firstly follow this guide to unlock your bootloader.
then install this recovery here by downloading the updated version. placing it onto the "root" of your sdcard. ( that is to not put it in any folder of any kind on the sdcard) and boot into the bootloader by using volume down + power after pulling the battery out.
if this fails you will have to fastboot flash the img, but more on that if you need to
once you have installed the recovery take out the sdcard and boot back into your bootloader (vol- + power) and then scroll down to recovery with the volume buttons and the push power. reinsert your sdcard.
scroll down to back up and make a back up of your phone!!! this is vital, as should you muck up you can simply go back to this
then select your rom of choice and place it on the root of your sdcard. while your accessing your sdcard delete the PG76img.zip unmount your sdcard and continue.
in recovery scroll down to wipe/format. wipe everything aside from your sdcard. then install your rom, and Gapps if it is an aosp type rom.
reboot the device and wait.
if it doesnt boot up in ten minutes reboot to your bootloader and enter recovery. restore your backup and then come back here for help with a list of everything youve done
job done

[Q] Stuck at 'HTC One' boot screen. How to fix with Mac?

Hey guys,
I just flashed the boot.img via the boot.img in the Custom Rom (CM10) (./fastboot-mac flash boot boot.img) and then I found out I didnt put a rom.zip but a rom folder on my phone.. So I wanted to reboot but it doesn't really reboots.
When you hear that chime, it plays that 3/4th and then goes to 'HTC One tm' screen and stucks.
How.. do I fix it?
I got a Nandroid backup, but after wiping data and cache, then restoring.. it doesn't make a difference..
I flashed it with latest recovery thingy, 5-1.8 as I can see in my download folder.
Thanks so much in advance!

Cleared it multiple times already..
And its currently on that screen for over 5 minutes. I guess it won't go to where it should go. So it's kinda.. bricked.
Any other solutions?

If you haven't put a rom.zip on your sd card yet... Go into cwm recovery. Then mounts and storage then mount USB I think it is or mount sd card, copy your rom across...

and I can't do anything. Because E975 has insternal SD card I don't know how to fix it

I think that is because KitKat has different sdcard path. Check if your recovery has the option to change the default path.
If it hasn't this option you have 2 chance: push the ROM using adb command or recover all system using kdz (but after this you need to reunlock the bootloader).

Thanks for your helps, I could finally solve the issue with another ways.
I was using my camera and taking picture and because of under volting it crashed while saving picture, so this crash make sdcard inaccessible! I try flashing TWRP recovery by ADB, but TWRP also couldn't access sdcard, again I came back to CWM recovery by ADB.
CWM has an erase (format) sdcard function, so I had to format my internal sdcard to make it accessible again. After formatting I lost all of my data but my sdcard works again.
Then I push a zip file rom by ADB with following command: adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
and flash it with by recovery and now my phone is running as well as before
I also should thank @MiZrY for his useful helps :good:

[Q] Bricked HTC One M8 - No OS Installed

Hi there - i am completely new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I rooted my phone and due to some Apps not working that I really needed, I tried to unroot to get back to where I was to start with.
I have now found myself in the awful position of my device having no OS installed and no matter what threads I have followed, I cannot get any ROM to install.
What I have is:
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP installed
S-On
HBOOT 3.16.0.0000
I think I have the right ROM for my device (Vodap001) and i have tried using sideloading and ADB push but none of these work.
Can anyone please help me to get back to a stock ROM
Did you try to sideload a full ROM, or a backup? Asking as backups can't be installed using sideload. If tried to sideload a full ROM, what exactly happened?
You could just sideload any full sense ROM, the place the TWRP Backup for you version into the TWRP Backup folder on your phone and run a restore.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried to sideload a stock nandroid backup from one of the links. Is this not correct?
Sorry- quite new to this!
Where would I find a full ROM from?

Hi exocetdj
I've followed these instructions but I get a 'failed' message.
Here is the string:
E:Unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip '/external_sd/TWRP/Backups/rom.zip'
Updating partition details...
Does this mean the zip file is corrupt or something?
I have taken this from one of the Stock nandroid backups here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

Put it in root directory of external sd card.
That apart, I saw that some .zip files doesn't open properly at all but keeps on throwing errors even if you try to open it on a PC. If you have 7zip try and extract the .zip file and use 7zip to make it a .zip file again.
On a side note, are you trying to flash a backup again instead of a ROM? Just because you download a backup and rename it ROM.zip doesn't make it a ROM anymore than taking a baseball bat and naming it a soccer ball makes it a "soccer ball"
Download any stock ROM from Android Development ROM Repository. You could also just download a custom ROM quickly, flash the ROM. When that's done go into recovery and restore the nandroid backup for your device.

Zip file is not corrupted ... the way you do it totally wrong.
Stock nandroid backup is NOT a ROM.zip
See this on how to use a nandroid backup in proper way (replace the numbers with the one that you downloaded) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55316046&postcount=1894

If you just wiped the system partition you can got into TWRP, choose Restore and using this menu restore your OS that you have backed up and on your internal storage.
Hi, I'm still not having any luck with trying to get an OS back on my HTC One M8.
I've followed the advice and done the following:
1. I have extracted a nandroid stock backup, put this into the TWRP\backup folder and attempted to restore this from TWRP. This appears to do everything, i get no errors and looks great until I swipe to reboot and i get the mesage stating No OS Installed. Am I wrong in thinking this shoudl restore the OS?
2. I have downloaded ViperOneM8_2.4.0 and put this zip file in the root of my SD Card. I have then used the Install menu in TWRP, selected the .zip file and I still get the message E:Unable to open zip file. I have checked using 7Z and the file appears in tact and not corrupt.
can someone give me an idiots guide of how to get out of this mess I have created?
Thanks
