[PORT] Honame x-Reality - Sony Xperia ZL

Someone from the Z forums just ported a lot of stuff from the Honami. They say its for Z/ZL. Anyone care to check it out? I'm not much of a techie person when it comes to phones so I'm always at the risk of bricking it. )
Title should be "HONAMI" LOL

Honami is the new Xperia phone that will be coming out this year or next. The supposed specs are absolutely ridiculous but are a 1080p 6.3 inch display with a 2.3ghz processor (assuming a quad or Oct) as well with everything updated such as 4gb of ram and a internal storage of 32gb

Sony acro s - worth buying?

I love my defy, especially now with jelly bean CM10.
However acro s has just been released and it looks to offer the toughness of defy with a high end phone and camera.
Do you think it's with spending the money on or should I hold onto my defy for another year??

get the Xperia Acro S if :
1> the entirety of the design greatly appeals to you (it did on me)
2> you find the built - water-resistant and shock resistant - has some good use according to your lifestyle
3> the price range is acceptable
4>you're a big fan of Xperia (a "stick to it no matter what" kind of fan)
5>OS development and modding is not that important
but, consider looking somewhere else if :
1>OS upgrade, flashing, openness and OS development is important to you(you're better off getting Samsung or HTC)
2>you value the online community support structure (you're better off getting Samsung or HTC)
3>you want those OS development delivered on a timely manner (you're better off getting Samsung or HTC) either official or the XDA way.
there you go, i hope these somehow help you make the right choice.
Thanks for the good advice.
For me there is a conflict. I need water resistance for use outdoors but have also enjoyed the roms, mods and tweaking. The defy was the best of both worlds. I don't think it's stayed on the same rom for more than a few weeks!. I've had it for almost two years now.
I don't know why Motorola haven't bought out a defy 2. Bigger screen, better camera etc. instead there's defy +, defy mini, defy XT, all of which are pretty much the same and not worth upgrading from defy.
I'm contemplating buying a galaxy nexus as an indoor phone and keeping my defy as my outdoor media and GPS. However the acro s looked like it would let me have just the one phone.
I'll wait I think for a month or so until there's good reviews of acro s out. Acro s is priced just above galaxy s3 here in new Zealand but only just released so will prob drop in price quick.
Apologies for long post.

Do you know what carrier it will be for? I live in America and i can only get Tmobile phones. I need a tough phone like the defy, everyday, but i want something more powerful like the acro s. The only other phone thats powerful from tmobile here is the galaxy s3 which my girlfriend has but she has to charge it 3 times a day and i think i would break it in a month on accident. Thanks.

i think devs on XPERIA device is not bad..
FXP team did a good job, and ORGANIZED, yes organized to did their job.
they port CM to all 2011 Xperia device (yes, CM10 included).
my friend using Xperia Live and Xperia Neo, got a nice real smoooooth CM.
and developing atmoshpere there on both device is hot, not dead..
as long as kernel is unlocked, there's always a possibilities for devs to develop it.
and xperia has many devs too.
and did you know, SONY is a nice vendor for the devs.
SONY put a official page on their website, a nice how to step-by-step UNLOCK BOOTLOADER OFFICIALY..
i kept my eye on xperia acro s for two months now, and my next phone will definitely be this one. and i think the development of xperia devices is not bad, especially when they get cyanogenmod. and im quite sure this device will be officially supported by the cm team.
and i agree with marhensa, if the bootloader is unlocked, development is much easier, and sony makes their bootloaders unlockable.
And about official updates, Sony comes right next to nexus phones in official updates .. they updated almost all of the 2011 Xperia lineup to ics . Better late then never

I would buy it but sony only release the xperia go in germany, but thats holy crab, nothing better then my defy.
So i keep my defy ad buy him in autumn a big brother, the nexus seven. So outdoor smartphone and daily using nexus 7
I'm waiting for this piece of hardware as well. Its for the exact reasons I bought my defy for and why I will hopefully never have to but a non ip67 phone again.
Sean
lets not forget that:
- the defy is not ip67 officially
- the acro s is ip57, not ip67

oh don't get me wrong there, bud. nothing about devs in general and here at XDA in particular.
my point being was - Sony's tough stance on keeping their phones superlocked - with bootloaders locked(and encrypted) in a way that makes it difficult for devs high and low to come up with diverse ROMs and mods, keeps the flashaholic community to a minimum level.
and yeah CM did very excellent (sorry for the double supras) job of porting ICS and even JB(in the works to most 2011 line). unlimited props to the team. and that was CM - not SE.compare it to both Samsung and HTC communities where in just a matter of weeks they'd have the ports ready and working, it took about what, a year for SE to brush in to the ICS bandwagon?..
also, look at the price range for an SE dual core device, almost up there with the far-quads.
talk about design, props to SE - i mean they make the loveliest phones out there. (exactly why i bought my ACRO HD).
i'm no big fan of SE - or any OEM for that matter - what matters to me is the experience i get out of a phone - or a device - or a product. And this is where SE loses big time to most big players year after year.
if my Acro HD has got better innard - like a quad maybe, this is going to be my phone for the next two years or so. no i'm highly tempted to get an S3.
again, please..don't tramp me just yet...i'm no hater.
and thanks for the reply. i appreciate being corrected constructively.

umm, i never had an android powered sony, but ive tried many, and from my experience, their software is greatly optimised, their single core devices are almost as smooth as a dual core device. thats why i think its worth buying a dual core sony instead of any quad core for the same price. and the sony stock software is very good, good features, quick, smooth. and they unlock most of their devices afaik. so my next phone will definitely be a sony. i dont like samsung, not just the software, the hardware either. htc is too pricy, especially that i dont wanna use sense ui, and thats extra money. i will never again buy a motorola for what they did to us defy users, and lg i simply dont trust. that leaves sony, which i always liked.

my little brother has got a defy too.. he loved it to the point of learning android programming so he could max his device the way he want's it. i've had 6 other phones while he held on to it. and i know first hand how moto left everyone in the dark with their i-dont-care attitude.
if you're saying though that SE makes very good OS/software for their phones, then i'm not really sure why we're here on XDA.
back to SE - goodluck with your next device. i hope they make better phones in their next release.
i'm about to sell my AcroHD and get me one of those jelly-able device.

you misunderstood me, im not saying i want to stick to the stock sony sw, i just said that if i had to choose id choose sonys, but of course if theres a possibility to change to cm, i will be the first to go. and the acro s has nfc, hdmi, good hw, hd 4.3" display (anything above 4.3" is too big for me), and comes with ics, so it will definitely be updated to jb. so this is the perfect phone for me. the s3 with its 4.7" is waaay to big, and i dont like the look of it.
but guys..
sony is kindly gave OFFICIAL step bu step to unlock bootloader.
and after that, you know what..
the 2011 devices line up got CM by FXP..
it took so long to get CM is because bootloader isn't unlock at that time.
but after that, sony gives a new policy which is so good for any devs.
the warranty will get void of course, but that's a win win solution for devs + it's follower and company (sony)..

I'm sure that Acro S is the best replacement for all Defy Owners , I think Quad-Core phones will eat up batteries.
For Samsung : I don't like their Plasticy devices that feels like a toy and Cheap construction and very easy to break ,but they have a big Dev community
For HTC and SONY they have a great build quality and nice dev followers but its a little bit over-priced
Acro S is the Up-coming phone unless HTC has released any IP57 or IP67 certified phones and i think all phones in the world should be IP57 cert

Just wanted to point out that DEFY+ is IP67 certified. So, yeah, the DEFY maybe doesn't have the official badge, but it was just another marketing trick to make people believe they actually improved the phone in multiple ways (CPU, chipset, graphics, IP67 certificate...things are different on DEFY and DEFY+ according to Motorola), while they are actually the same.
To make sure I was on topic - I find the Xperia line-up very ugly. If a real DEFY 2 doesn't show, my next phone will be an ATRIX 2

[Q] Xperia S or Xperia T

Hi guys i've been exploring these two devices and their forums. The fact is that this friday i'm getting a new phone but i don't really know which one of these is right for me, i mean in specs they are pretty much the same.
Physically i like a little bit more the XT because of the bigger screen, the nav bar instrad of the Not so nice notification led bar on the XS, also the XT Has the possiblity of adding an micro sd card. The downside i see about the XT is the Thermal throttling and the dimming screen when playing or else, but don' really know if this also happens on the XS. The camera quality of both devices are good, some claim XT is better but XS is really close.
The development section on the XT Is really young, i mean there are not many roms nor kernels etc. So this is a point for the XS which development is a little more advanced and explored.
So those are my thoughts anyways i want you guys to help me decide by telling me which pne would you buy and why?
Pd. Also recommend a rom for the device you'd pick.
In my case for the XS i think i'd go pac rom or cm9
For the XT Any stock rom deodexed and optimized and then cusromize it at my taste
Thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:

Xperia T is great. I actually have Xperia S. I was wondering if I should upgrade, and decided to stay with S
to get the quadcore Xperia which should be out next year.
Xperia T is slightly faster and has improved interface elements over previous Xperias, but the difference is not massive.
So if the price doesn't count, get the newer. If the price counts you can safely take S which is still a great phone.

I was able to compare both so it's true for sure.
If you're at least concerned about the price, pick the Xperia S, definitely.
If you're rich or really just don't care about money, get the Xperia T.
The Xperia T does everything just a little better, but there's no major change.
I'm loving my Xperia S. Anything I'd wish it had, the Xperia T doesn't have either.
Get the Xperia V.
It has the new Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon processor which offers a substantial performance boost over the S3 processor in the Xperia S. It is also more energy-efficient.
Xperia T.is.good phone (a little bit better than XS), but look at this:

If me, i would go for Xperia Ion instead of XS....Just add some small bucks than XS...
Bigger screen, better camera, sleek design...Xperia S ? Yellow tint issue, ICS compatibility problem, this is what i read last time

On the other side, XS have much more and better support of devs.

I thought ive used a nice language...Ive mentioned that i read it somewhere...Not that i am firm about it...
But still Ion is a better grab than XS, bigger screen, microSD expansion slot?
And about that XS with ICS not stable, well that happens to my country set whom upgrade to ICS through OTA...Maybe yours not
Chill bro
The fact is that you are speaking about stuffs you dont own apparently, and yes, the first things you said seemed to be like: I affirm this. This is it.
No, xperia S has no screen problems since ages, and has no ICS problems..
the only argument will be: price, screen size, memory, and subjective aspect: design.

From what ive read, every XS users who use OTA to ICS will encounter soo much lagginess...Bcoz of the second core disabled...
If its not true then its good to go though...No hardfeelings bro....
So which should be the best ? Xs or what?
XS got great support from XDA. but if you like bigger screen then may go for iON. But for a phone anything bigger than 4 - 4.3 is too much for me.
XPERIA LT26i has a reasonable speed/size internal flash at 32GB, misses out on MicroSD card, but really not a problem to hang a 32GB USB flash off a MicroUSB cable for most people.
XPERIA S is mostly cheaper
XPERIA ion has, LTE or HSDPA giving higher mobile speeds, a bigger battery and microSD card, but lose ~16GB internal flash.
The screen on both are much the same with XPERIA S having ~342 ppi pixel density and XPERIA ion less as it's screen is stretched out.
XPERIA acro S has 16GB internal memory, MicroSD AND is able to go swimming.
Firmware wise plus or minus a MicroSD the devices are all much the same with same processing hardware.
For all these devices JB(yet to be released) is mooted to have a good raft of features coming such as wireless media broadcast to compatible devices and etc
So this gives many of the software features of the new phones if you're happy to live with a ~1.7GHz Dual Core processor and an Adreno 220.
As already stated their will probably be more development around the XPERIA LT26i as it was part of the ASOP before Sony took over this development.
Go for the Xperia SL, with the latest firmware update it's fixed most of the problems. Only thing I dislike is the overheating and stock ROM forcing you to under clock your CPU during heavy use. With general everyday usage you rarely see this happen though.

No, Xperia S isn't overheating. You can surf the Net and you won't burn your hands Only when you are playing good games(e.g. Real Racing 3) phone can be hot but it isn't 100 degrees and you would be able to play normally without problems. After a while you won't see that phone is hot.

Xperia M in Low Activity Section

I know that the M struggled to get a place on XDA for a long time, it wasn't even indexed when it was put in here, so it was quite hard to find. Then a lot of dev work took off on other sites. That's a loss for XDA.
I just checked out the Xperia E. What do you know? It's not in the bin section. It has a place with the other phones. I cannot imagine that the M really has less activity than the E. The E is in economical terms, a budget device. The Xperia M is not. It is a mid-tier device. Now what? The screen isn't phablet size therefore it's not worthy?
I hope that when the decisions are made, an international perspective is taken. I know that the M has been released in the US, but it's used all over the world, as our users show. It's a global-release phone.
Does anyone know more about how this stuff is figured out?
I have previosly owned HTC Wildfire s, budget phone, but there are tons of customr roms, krenels, recovery and mod for it. I've switched to Xperia M now and really hope that support for this phone will go better Sorry for spelling mistakes, if there are ones...

First of Sony xperia M hasn't struggle to make place on XDA, it just take couples of PMs to right people that's all(which i have done to get this forum). and regarding to development this device is new in the market as compare to E, So keep it quite and you will get tons of roms and kernels, you just need to wait

It did struggle on XDA. I followed the New Device Request thread for a couple of months, I saw all the +Xperia M requests. I had it in my signature for about 2 months, encouraging others to request. Every once in a while a Mod would say 'we're considering between these devices now'. Page after page showed many requests and it still took a really long time. Now it's in the XDA bin. Is it not expensive enough? Is that the problem?
It was launched in August. This is mid-November. I've owned Sony (+Ericsson) devices and have been rooting, unlocking, modding, contributing, adding tutorials for Sony 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 devices, but I still think it's really unusual.
Gee, the kids are impatient these days.

AFAIK posting request on that thread is a very long and hard process to gain a thread on XDA, To get a forum on XDA it just needs A supporting RC/RD/RT or maybe a moderator. yes the device was launched in August but also please consider its availability on different countries and its price range. In my town this device was available from September. So it will take some time to get speed pal.

First of Sony xperia M hasn't struggle to make place on XDA, it just take couples of PMs to right people that's all(which i have done to get this forum). and regarding to development this device is new in the market as compare to E, So keep it quite and you will get tons of roms and kernels, you just need to wait

Absolutely agree with you mate. Phone is new and everybody is enjoying the taste of stock firmware, coz nobody will return to stock fw when custom roms will arrive.

icoolguy1995: I think you make fair and reasonable points. It's great when you can talk on XDA without angry people :victory:
Mini note in general - A poster mentioned 'impatience' regarding waiting for custom ROMS/kernels. I never mentioned these, it's not about custom ROMS/kernels.
Also, I listened to a technology podcast discussion the other day, they discussed the 'mobile market has shifted to an upgrade-a-phone-per-year model'. I guess that's because of the rate of innovation. So, by the time the M moves out of the bin Sony will have 6 new phones.

Agree....
Xperia M is not mid-tier, Its entry level, since it only has a dual core, and the RAM is not even LP DDR2 yet. Xperia L deserves the title more

So?
Xperia L is not in low activity. And this thread is for M not for L. And you cant say this is an entry level phone because this phone has good hardware for example ADRENO 305 which you will not find in any entry level phone and i hope you didnt forgotten the KRAIT cpu.
And dont post spam please.

Development For Xperia M
Hi,
Im new to this forum especially as I have just recently purchased this handset after upgrading from the Xperia Arc S which I would like to say is a good phone but im looking to take my skills to a new level.
I did a lot of rom testing on the Arc S even up to the CM11 4.4 Kitkat rom that was released for this phone.
I am however looking to do development work for this phone as well and maybe work on porting some of my apps and mods from ICS upto JB with help from anyone who is interested.
Hope people maybe interested and lets see what we can do to get people interested in this device
Thanks
Rob Nightingale

P.M me for more details
Hi! Well, seeing as there's revolution in the issue of globalization of the device, I want to clarify that just earlier this month came to Argentina, we are talking at the beginning of 2014, when months went on the market, so to not despair there are still places where it spread mobile magnificent. I hope I have been helpful, thank you very much and greetings.
And sorry for my English, I used a translator, because I did not communicate fluently.
Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I saw something that doesn't get in my head: I can't understand why a device that wasn't even released (Xperia M2) has a dedicated forum section in the main page, while Xperia M is in low-activity section. Yes, we don't have a lot of kernels and custom ROMs available right now for Xperia M, but that's a lot compared to the dedicated forum section Xperia M2 got, many of them without any post at all :silly:

To even open a new forum many things are taken into consideration. One of them is the shown interest of devs for the said device and another the expected popularity.
These may be some of the reasons.
As for Xperia M being into Low Activity, as an Xpeia M user, what's the difference?
Xperia M is low mid ranger device
Xperia L has much more
Like 8 MP camra with stunning featurrs
Processor is little faster then M
8 GB internal storage
4.3 inches display
But I think that xperia M shouldn't be included in low activity section.
It is low mid ranger device
Sent from my C2104 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So what?
It's not caused by that how our device is... It's caused because there is still not much roms/kernels for our device. In Xperia l cause it was much more easier for developers to get kk roms because it has 4.4 aosp sources from Sony.

Xperia L may have KK AOSP sources but still lacks an official 4.3 update, never confirmed or even rumored by Sony. And for the guys saying that Xperia L is way better than Xperia M, just compare the specs: Xperia L is just a Xperia M with better camera and different design, and that's all, everything else remains the same, same amount of RAM, same GPU and same CPU.
And before someone says that XL have a bigger screen, yes, it has a 0.3" bigger screen, but at the same resolution of XM, making its PPI lower than Xperia M screen (228 ppi vs 245 ppi). In Xperia M advantage we have a dual SIM version, while Xperia L don't. But all this Xperia L vs Xperia M talk is off-topic, the thing is that for me Xperia M does deserve a better place in XDA forums, but appears that only I think so :silly:

[Q] Does this phone really worth buying?

Hello guys,
I'm as of now an iPhone 5 user and my parents have took my phone away because i was using it "too much" for about 5 months ago. Today, me and my parents were in an electronic shop and we've been looking for some phones for my grands. Then my mom just randomly said, that she will be using my iPhone 5 as shes normal phone and she offered me a deal, i would still have the iPhone 5 which i can't use much, OR if i'll consider about the S3 Mini or the Xperia M. So here's my question, does the Xperia M worth? Are there many ROMs? Do the features are almost same as in iPhone 5? Does CM11 lags really much or bugs? Is the multitasking good as in iPhone? Can the phone be good in hardware for about next 3-4 years? Therefore, thanks to all who can answer me those questions.

This phone can pretty much fill all your needs. There are almost nil bugs in CM11 and it doesn't lagg! Multitasking is 200% better than the iPhone :silly: You can always peep in the Development and Original Development section for roms there are a variety of AOSP Roms as well as Stock based roms!
In terms of hardware for the next 3-4 years the phone is packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with Adreno 305 which runs almost any game or heavy app without lagg (Even Facebook :victory: :silly
Tho I won't give you wrong info about the phone.. It would heat a bit but not so much. For minimal use and just multitasking its a great phone and I totally recommend you to buy it! :highfive::laugh::fingers-crossed:

I love Sony for their responsive UI and the never before experience they give who have got their new first xperia device! Samsung packs in a lot of apps that are not needed in daily activities and stuff we usually do on phone!
Also, Sony is not predictable like Samsung is for example was the Xperia M 4.3 update expected?
Hope the above links help ^^ :fingers-crossed:

Well, it's 50:50 for me. Looking on ROMs for both of the devices, just a question, is the community for Xperia M big?

Seeing upto Facebook yeah looks like it's very big but I really don't know how many from the "11K" members group really own an Xperia M!
Based on my research on google, i see that the specs are similar to each other, but:
If you looking for more performance and multitasking, choose Xperia M :victory:
If you looking for a phone with strong display (Gorilla Glass), choose S3 Mini. :fingers-crossed:
Anyway, the choose is still depend on you. Good luck!
Guys, just another question, will be there more ROMs for this device? Like, i couldn't find MIUI, Lewa or something like that? Thx for reply again

Probably there will be more roms, just wait and see. But In my opinion cm11 is quite good custom rom for our device.

And how about themed custom ROMs? (Touchwiz, HTC Sence etc.) Or it is possible to port ROMs from the S3 Mini?
