I ordered my Epic Touch a couple of days ago and I activated it yesterday. So far everything is working as it should. I am NOT using the charger that came with the phone because of the problems that people are experiencing with it so I'm using the Evo 4G charger and everything works fine. So far I have not noticed any data drops (Im on PRL 60681). I'm going to go out of town where I know I get horrible signal and see if I experience the data problem. If everything goes well do you guys recommend flashing the OC kernel? I cant wait to be rooted and flash a stable rom even tho the stock works just fine. I'm a huge fan of the cyanogen nighlies hopefully in the near future we get a variety of roms for this phone!
It's been close to a week now and I love this phone. Not even rooted yet and the phone is silky smooth and blazing fast. Definitely don't regret getting this one.
So far so good here to.. Whats wrong with the charger? I didn't use mine last night which was my first night with the phone.. What's wrong with it?

Not sure. I haven't had issues with the charger. I use the stock charger at home and my EVO charger at work. Both seem to work just fine for me.
I'm currently on 4.1 and it is great. However I was considering moving to 4.2 for the new features but judging by many threads with problems on 4.2 I'm starting to reconsider. Is it really as bad as it looks (the battery dying quickly, problems with updating from 4.1, other stuff), or is it worth to update my Gnex?
I'm getting my GNex today. Hope this thread gets answers
There are numerous threads on this subject. Instead of being lazy and having someone answer your question, why don't you actually read the threads? Hell, you've already answered some of your own questions.
Read, read, read and then just when you think you have the answer, read some more. Ultimately, it comes down to your own judgements and opinions.
Yes but what I can see are some individual cases of those things. Or are they? I just want to know if all those things are common in 4.2.
Basically, my question: does anyone who moved from 4.1 to 4.2 regret it in any way?
That question is also answered in all the "i'm going back to 4.1" threads..
As for whether this is a general thing, it is definitely more common with problems than other updates, but as several of us have had no problems at all, it cannot be a problem with 4.2 as such, so it would have to be either
1. a problem with the update process(i made a clean install)
2. a problem with certain hw/sw combinations(there have been reports of a certain error in the latest hw, which has coincided with the update itself)
I dont have any problems with 4.2. Question for u is are u rooted? Stock?

Compared my nexus with a friend's and experience is different.
Same exactly clean installation and my phone after 1 day starts lagging but my friend's is smooth as ever..
Maybe slight variation in hardware causes this difference...
Don't know what else to assume..

I've tried CM10.1 which is 4.2 and after awhile the phone will stop responding and the screen will turn off. Only way to get it back on is to battery pull, reverted back to 4.1 for now.
I ran stock 4.2 from release to about a week ago, had a few problems at first but after a factory reset I was happy. Only issue was occasionally, maybe after a day, maybe a week, screen would go black right after waking and have to battery pull. But as is not an everyday occurrence I'll stay with 4.2.1 (rasbean) and wait for Google to fix.

I suggest get a decent Kernel as many issues are Kernel related. I'm running LeanKernel for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and everything runs perfect. I have used LeanKernel since the Thunderbolt days and have tried Trinity and Franco. I always end up coming back to Lean Kernel. No SODs, weird lags, rebooting or other issues. The only think I tweaked was bump the GPU to 384, and over clock to 1350 MHz. Plus force the GPU for 2D in the developer settings which have always used since 4.1.
So Ive had my t-mobile S3 for a few days now. Ive loved it so far, Ive only had it for a few days, so i have not rooted it yet or even looked at the dev section for custom roms. All my previous phones have been rooted and had custom roms, but have not had the chance or desire to do it/read up on it on my S3 yet...
Anyway, to my question. After I initially unlock the phone and am at the first home screen, when I go to swipe it either way to change screens, I have lag. After that initial swipe and lag I can swipe smoothly. Its just that first swipe that gives me lag. This is the most powerful device I've had, so I am surprised to see the lag. Im assuming its touchwiz and the phone probably takes a moment to ramp up the cpu? Im not against rooting and rom'ing it, just have not yet and wondering if others had this or noticed this issue while still completely stock? If so, are there any transitions or anything I can change, or do i just deal with it until I root it and throw on an awesome rom?
Thanks
It's just coming out of deep sleep and at q low CPU clock to save power. It's normal.

Yeah you should relax while we all can admit TouchWiz Sucks its not that bad, Even having power saving on should not affect a little task like that. This phone is really fast stock so don't feel you need to root just because of that. Now if bloatware really bothers you, carrier IQ then you can go on and flash away.

Nothing is perfect...phones..electronics...cars..houses...you name it. Everyone expects everything to run smooth or they freak out. Its the nature of the beast...live with it...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
My GS3 does it. My iPod touch 4th generation does it. My Galaxy Exhibit 4G did it.
Pretty normal stuff, though it tends to annoy me as well.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Uninstall android....no lag ever lol..jk. ive never seen an android stock phone lag free...not even the droid dna....its part of life..
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Normal. My does that aswell. On both touchwiz and nova launcher.

thanks everyone. Ive had android since the beginning (well almost, mt3g). So I'm used to the lag that android sometimes has. but to be honest, i was really surprised to see it on this phone. I thought it was powerful enough hardware wise and the software tweaks (project butter act) that I was just surprised to see the lag (i know touchwiz slows it down). I've noticed a little more here and there...
Any way, glad to know its normal for this phone being stock, I just did not expect it. Guess Ill have to root it and play around with some custom roms to get that smoothness Im looking for
Yea I notice the lag on start up to but after a couple of seconds its good.
You know it's weird, I used to have the same issue, so I know exactly what you're talking about. But I don't have it anymore for some reason and I'm not quite sure when it went away. I flashed a stock rooted Jelly Bean rom to get root, but that's the only thing I've done to it.
Once you get past the little bit of lag...she is butter smooth....

Random reboots come with the territory my friend. if you can't live with them, just use the stock ROM.

when i first buy the phone used on ebay it came with stock ICS and it happens as well i think i had a bad unit thanks anyways
I just had my device sent in and they completely replaced everything on the inside, not sure why they didn't just give me a new unit.. But anyways. It's been a few weeks and there were no restarts got the first week but then started again slowly, and now they happen frequently again...

That's almost certainly the case. I have a bad unit myself and hope to get it replaced soon. LG's QC has a bad reputation with this model.

Is that a fact that they changed the parts in there? I sent mine not too long ago and it was ok for 2 weeks then reboots were constant (2-4x a day) after that. I figured they just did a factory reset.

Go back to GB and there will be no random reboots guaranteed.
Just for fun, try the following.
1. Power off your phone.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Remove the SD Card.
4. Leave it alone for at least 10 minutes.
5. Put everything back together and see if that made any difference.

how i get back to GB?????? the only way i see to do this was when i unbrick my phone but that GB IS REALLY WEIRD
Yes, they specifically told me what was replaced.. I don't have the sheet with me right now to list it, but it's basically everything on the inside.

HoNo has a GB rom that you can flash. If you find GB weird then stick with ICS and the reboots.

whats the name of this ROM or just can you send me the link to the page or something i definitly gonna try it!!!
thanks in advance
Give it a try!
I had random reboots on almost all Roms except when I was on my Stock GB (V10f), ICS leak (v18f) and stock ICS (v20C) before installing any Custom Roms... The best Custom ROM I used was Liquid Nitro with Wind Kernel.. the mobile was stable, battery life was a lot better..
Currently I am on CM10.1 nightly with Wind kernel 1.0.. I am getting almost 36 hours on regular usage and no Random reboots...
All the best..

Wait, what? Are you saying you are getting 36hrs of battery life? Stock battery? I can believable. I'm lucky if I get 16hrs on HoNo CM9.
Also, to keep on topic, I think the OP might have a hardware issue and if so no ROM will truly fix it; some might do better at masking it though. FWIW I got probably one reboot every other day on CM10, but I get maybe one a week on HoNO CM9 and they seem to only occur when the battery is low.
i got the odd random reboot on stock GB.
on stock ICS i don't remember getting much, not sure.
i put CWM on the phone, bricked it, unbricked it
haven't had a random reboot since, been 2 weeks now, the roms i've used are cm10 (which had great performance, the odd flicker on the screen entering standby mode, poor battery life, didn't support MHL) but didn't get any reboots. (ran that for about 5 days)
i then switched to mattman86's liquidnitroV6 which is linked in my sig, i like it better, its stock isc bloatware removed wind3 kernel added supports mhl, good battery life, good performance, no flickers) only problem i have with this rom is that is that it has stock bluetooth stack, and doesn't support alot of bluetooth outside of headsets etc (cm10 has full bluetooth stack).
you may give Quattrimus a try. tdmcode fixed many bugs causing reboot or bsod with stock CM10.
Hi everyone
After install almost every ROM the only one that doesnt had asingle rebbot is GLORYROM it is truely th Glory for me.
I dont know what i did but i have 45 hours without a reboot.
This is the cronologic order for what i did
1, i install Glory Rom, coming from HONOS Full throtle and i get a reboot 15 hours later
2. i search A tread about flashing Basebands by HONOS in the thread it says that it came with the baseband and firmware (i dont know about that stuff) i just wonder What would happen if i change it?
3. i install v10j baseband and i get a reboot 27 hours later
4. Them i Install v10f and untill know i have no more reboots. i already had almost 46 hours without a single reboot, im really happy i hope everythingg keep working as it is.
The Glory Rom it fast!!! Lag free, stable, and reboot free so long!
The Battery life isnt the best compare with CM10.1 nigthly but i manage get 22 hours without charging and i get 5% left and that really good for me so thanks to all of you for respond and i hope not get another ramdon reboot.
And if somebody explain to me the miracle come on and be my guess jejejeeeje!
Hey guys. I borrowed my brother's old Galaxy Nexus while my HTC One is being repaired and I couldn't help noticing it lags. Immensely. I flashed SlimKat build 3 on it and before that I ran LiquidSmooth. I was under the impression that KitKat was supposed to be less resource hungry.
Is it because it's not "official" (from Google)? Would 4.3 run better, say in the form of CM10.2.1 stable?

Try Deleting The (Google +) and if its Build in App try deleting it with Root Permission.
this Should Fix that Lag. It did For mine ^.^
The unfortunate reality is that most Galaxy Nexus units have sluggish internal storage, and any background processes that are trying to write to it while you interact with the phone can create lag in processing and the UI. It was such a relief to switch to the Nexus 5.
Mine is not lagging but not fast too.. But with the right rom and kernel and some tweaking its pretty fast for its age
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I flashed back to 4.3. CM10.2 stable and now it runs better but still lagging. Not as much, though.
lets try cm11 remix .....
Let me know how it is.running slimkat right now and I'm getting pretty much decent performance. We all have to remember this phone is older. I've been trying to justify getting the nexus 5. Will wait until the price comes down a little bit

It's just the phone. My work phone is a gnex bone stock. And it lags horribly.
Mine is very fast, no lag at all, even after more than 1700 hours without rebooting :good:
Vanir 4.3.1 (final version)
.
This thread is active again. I thought I could get my One yesterday but Telecare messed up and sent me one that had even more tint than before, so I'm stuck with this until after May 9th because my carrier store closes for renovation between April 22nd and May 9th..
C'est la vie.
Since someone already opened a topic on this, I would like to chime in. This started happening too to me two days ago and it's driving me nuts. I must have done something somewhere but I just couldn't find any solutions.
As of two days ago, my Gnex started to lag since I flashed Fancy kernel r50. Serious f-ing lag. Nothing I do seems to help. I've dirty flashed my current rom (OmniMetal), I tried reflashing a previous version of the kernel like I've always done, I tried clean flashing everything again, I tried installing another rom (Paranoid Saberdroid) and whatever option available. The lag won't go away. This ain't your average lag. Even TWRP is lagging. Any suggestions?
SOLVED: It was a rewrite problem, what i did was i ran lagfix(fstrim) app and voila! Fast and speedy again.
Really happy with cm 11 remix, almost no lag.

As mentioned before some of the nexus's suffer from the degrading EMMC performance. Refer to this thread to make sure which side you are on...
hope that helps :good:
I think cm remix is the most stabile/fast ROM now
Keep in mind you came from a HTC One to a Galaxy Nexus.. That's a big loss of processing power. Another thing is if he's had it OC'd a lot the processor may be in it's final days.
My Thunderbolt gave me the same issues while I waited to get my Gnex.
