[Q] [4.2.2] cell signal doesn't recover? - Sony Xperia ZL

So a few times now, since I flashed stock 4.2.2, then RomAur v6.2, if I'm in an area with no cell coverage, specifically underground train for a couple of minutes, when I come out of that area, my cell signal doesn't recover. I usually toggle the airplane mode to recover after I notice.
Anyone else have this? I'm a C6506.

I had a similar issue with data after some modding, I would have to toggle Airplane Mode for it to come back. I'd suggest a clean install with a wipe. Could be a bug with RomAur?

I'm having the same problem except that even if I toggle Airplane mode, my signal won't comeback. Anyone have any idea?

I have concluded that this is a bug with 4.2.2 (.423) it keeps happening to me on stock rooted. Thing is this happened to me on 434 as well so I'm not sure if its a roaming bug or programming bug..

[Q] Network locks up on E4GT. Reboot required to restore

Anyone else having this problem? My E4GT's network randomly freezes. If I'm on a call and it happens it drops the call but I can't close out and end the call. If I don't notice it has frozen, I just won't get any calls or texts until I reboot. Data over wifi works fine. If it happens and I put it into airplane mode then off again I get the circle slash no network symbol. Nothing works besides a reboot. I'm running a stock kernel and stock rom on a rooted phone. Anyone figure this out yet? I came from an evo to a photon to this and the data speeds were horrendous on this phone compared to the other 2. With this issue the phone is almost unusable. I did an SCRTN reset on the phone and that took care of the data speeds. If I can get this resolved the phone will be great. Thanks.

[Q]Airplane mode keeps turning itself on and won't turn off

First of all, a battery pull fixes the issue
What i am trying to figure out if what causes the bug and whether other people are having the same issue
As you can see from both images, there is no cell signal but WIFI is on but somehow the phone thinks airplane mode has been turned on
This is the 3rd time is past few days and i have missed loads of calls as a result.
From what i can see from my apps, there is nothing that should be causing the issue.
Also, there doesn't seem to a root cause, It has happened while i was charging the phone and while the phone had been on constant use
Any ideas?

I'm usually in low signal areas and when I move into an area where I know there is signal, it sometimes takes the device 30-60 seconds to recognize there is a signal.
This makes me think the radio polling interval is set fairly slow, perhaps in an attempt to save battery life.
I've used the airplane mode to toggle the radio and "wake it up" quicker than waiting the 60 seconds for the radio/phone to recognize the signal.
By any chance, are you in or around a low signal area when this occurs? I wonder if our two experiences might be related.
Just a thought. Have you flashed a different radio at all? Maybe its crashing?
Not that this helps you, but the one thing I noticed from your pics is they spelled "aeroplane mode" wrong... lol
Why is your Android Build #?
I had this happen once before, but it was before I upgraded.. so not sure if that is related or was just a coincidence that it has worked fine the times I used it after updating.

This happens on my Galaxy Nexus too. I can leave the phone somewhere with a very good 3G signal and come back to find no signal and that I'm unable to toggle the radio on or off. Restarting fixes the problem.

This happens to me as well. Airplane mode that doesn't turn off and slow reception, sometimes signals just goes away and doesn't come back for some minutes!!! I hope they fix those issues soon.

I have had a similar issue, except that I am able to enable connection again by selecting to turn airplane mode off. I sometimes have to do this 2 times, but the phone does not freeze during this process. I have not been able to determine a cause as it happens in use and idle. This happened using stock 2.3.4 Samsung ROM (with being rooted) and with a recent flash to VillainROM 2.5. Through that I would assume it is deeply embedded bug that is being carried over with ROM's or, perhaps more likely, one of the apps I got is causing this.

well, my nexus experience just keeps getting weirder. the phone just restarted itself and hasn't gone past the google logo. it restarts (hear it vibrate) at that point and wont go past that screen. no idea what could have caused it as phone was right next to me and i wasn't using it
past the point of caring to be honest. i will try a factory reset when i get home tonight
I haven't had this issue since I flashed a new build of the stock rom, here:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/349407-odin-firmware-i9250xwkk9-itl41f-newest-build/
I've been using it for the past 8 hours and have had a consistent 4-5 bars. It's supposed to be a later build of the ITL41F firmware.
Unforturnately, it's got compatibility issues with most of the mods. If you flash mods on top of this, you'll lose the the status bar and the 3 buttons.
Will continue to monitor and update.
I can confirm that the problem happens to me on a completely stock phone - no apps installed (just the ones included with the system), no root, no tampering whatsoever. It has to be a Android 4.0 and/or SGN problem.
Here another victim of the sudden loss of signal. Toggling airplane mode on and off does solve the problem, but what worries me is that I am incommunicado in the period just prior to the moment I discover that the signal is lost.

I have this issue as well. Toggling airplane mode does not work for me.
similar thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20816554
I also recently encountered this issue. My phone was working fine while rooted and bootloader unlocked until today. Usually when I wake up, I check my email and I'm usually on 3G because I don't get 4G at home. Gmail had not refreshed, couldn't get on browser, had to reboot. I left my phone alone for about two hours or so, turned it on to check email and again, no signal in a place I typically get 4G. Had to reboot again to get signal. It doesn't look like my phone is going into airplane mode like some people are reporting as I don't see an airplane icon or notification.
I have not tried toggling airplane mode yet to get signal back. My phone does not run custom roms or themes, only has some root apps. I have the Verizon version.

2g only wont stick after boot on stock .587

I am on stock .587 with stock kernel. I rooted and removed the usual well known bloatware.
I am a sucker for battery life so I am always on 2g only in mobile settings. I switch to 3g when needed. Yesterday I noticed after a reboot that setting went back to 2g/3g??
Anyone knows what could cause that? Or is it a bug in .587. It switches back that setting after every boot
Cheers

Bug in .587.
And the battery drain difference between 2G and 3G is quite low.
Did anyone tried to replace SemcPhone.apk from version 431?
any solution?

Has anybody found a solution to this?
It's a big problem for me because at home I have very poor 3G signal, so it keeps switching back and forth to 2G.
My previous android phone used to remember the setting, so this is not a "feature" of android.
I have unlocked the bootloader so I would consider changing the kernel if there is one that solves the issue.
I have flash all kernel to try and to get it to stay but no luck
Most probably a bug where the 2g/3g switch resets itself after a reboot. Just like a RAM

have you tried fxp or any jelly bean kernel?
Still investigating this. For me it sticks, but only as long as i don't enter the settings dialog. When i reboot i see 2G in bar and phone info, but opening the network settings dialog resets it to 3g-prefered. Checking the settings.apk whats going on there....
I have Same problem. When i reboot it changes automaticly!
I installed FXP145 (cm10) and the bug is not there.

Jellybean wifi issue

Hello,
After updating from CM9 to CM10 I started facing wifi issue. My phone works normally for 1-3 days, and then wifi stops working. If I go to wifi settings, it says "Searching for Wi-Fi Networks". Also, wifi cannot be turned off. After reboot wifi operates normally for some time until this glitch happens again.
I thought it was CM-related issue, but some people say they have faced this issue even with stock JB.
Do you have this issue? How can it be fixed?
Toggle airplane mode.

No idea on how to fix it, i have it too.
It's not happening too frequently to bother me.
Is there ; Support connect to wireless network by QSS (Quick Security Setup)??
for this build patch?
I have this exact same problem on CM10. I did a full wipe and the problem remains
I will keep searching for a solution, but I really hope someone can tell us more information as to what the cause might be.

[Q] GPS navigation not working.

I have noticed this for the last two weeks. My GPS has been acting goofy, and if I try to navigate it will just always say "searching for GPS". I made sure that my actual gps is turned on, I did so from the drop down notification, but I noticed that when opening my maps and stuff, I don't get the gps icon in my notification bar. Any one else experiencing this? I'm wondering if my phone is jacked, or if there's s quick fix. Phone if totally stock, no Rom, it's not flashed or anything. I did update to 4.1
Thanks in advance for any help.
Reset your phone from settings> backup and restore. If that doesn't work then Odin back to stock and repeat.

Hard reset fixed this issue on my S3. Just pull the battery without shutting the phone down then turn the phone back on. I haven't had the issue come back since doing the first and only hard reset on my phone.

I have been having this same GPS issue since I upgraded to jelly bean....
I have Odin back to stock , changed my kernels, changed base bands, installed various custom ROMs and tried GPS fix apps from the playstore ...The issue still persists......The only time it worked for 2 days straight without issues was when I installed the Paranoid android AOSP ROM.....
It had various bugs I wasn't willing to live with so I am back to wicked v2.1 and still trying to find a permanent solution regarding ng the s3's GPS issue..
The GPS temporarily works when the phone is restarted but after about 10 mins the GPS icon doesn't come on again until the phone is restarted...
I am currently using my Tmobile s3 to send this message and my GPS is not functional at the moment...I always have to restart the phone when I want to use navigation..

I did a battery pull yesterday, GPS has been working along with navigation. I'm just waiting to see how long it will work now. It sounds like it's a known issue than? Let's how there's a fix!
