[Q] Xperia S doesn't boot - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi all,
Before I had CM10 installed on my LT26i. Then I have installed the prerooted JellyBean software from DoomLorD. The phone started lagging a lot after a while, I had a factory reset on it a few days ago. When I tried to install my apps&data back which I have backed up from Titanium backup app an error occured. And it was saying the phone needs to be restarted. I did, but now the phone doesn't boot. After xperia logo it starts bootingg just for a few seconds and then freees and turns off. I can't get into recovery mode. Tried to have it on fastboot on Windows 8, but it says unknown device.
What procedure I should follow now ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

if i were u, i will re-lock the bootloader and save your phone with update service
update service will probably put your phone into .200 rom
then flash it to .211 rom yourself and root it with the doomlord kit

[Q] Xperia Play won't boot - doesn't even reach Sony Ericsson screen

Hey guys
After having a look at some custom roms for my Xperia Play R800i, I decided to try and install Cyanogenmod 9.0. After a long and stressful ordeal, I managed to root the device, install Clockworkmod Recovery, and flash the rom. I wasn't happy with this rom, so I flashed ICX. After being dissatisfied with this also, I decided to return to the stock rom, using Flashtool and Xperia_Play_Release_Generic_UK.ftf. When I went to update to Android 2.3.4 using the Sony Ericsson PC Companion software, it said that the phone contained modified software which could not be updated. Thinking this was an error, I re-flashed the ftf file, then tried to download the update through the Software Update option in the About Phone settings menu. The update seemed to be going fine, but soon after it began, the phone simply switched off. Now, when I press the power button, the phone vibrates, but does nothing else. It doesn't even get past the black screen. I viewed some similar problems on the Sony Ericsson support site, and they all advised use of the Update Service program. Once again, I was told that my phone contained modified software and therefor couldn't be updated. I also tried to flash the ftf again, but my phone is still as unresponsive as ever.
I imagine that the problem is to do with the software that is currently installed on the phone, and that it needs to be removed/replaced for me to switch it on. However, I can't know for sure because I can't switch it on.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm desperate to get my phone working again. Any and all suggestions would be useful. Thank you in advance
Ya... not supposed to FOTA on unlocked bootloader, it bricks you. As you've seen SEUS doesn't like locked bootloaders so the only way to use it again is to relock the bootloader. Unfortunately in order to do this you need to flash the relocker, which is a .ftf, which you can't do because your phone isn't recognized by flashtool. I dunno, you don't have a lot of options here, but lets lay them out:
1. Get into flash mode and recover via either a .ftf or use it to relock your bootloader so you can use SEUS
2. Get into fastboot and boot or flash a kernel or recovery. You could try flashing a CM7 kernel and installing its .zip
3. If nothing else works your only other option is to turn here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322827
This is what happens when you use official Sony update service with an unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
Sorry to be a pain, but do you have a link to the specific .ftf I need to relock the bootloader?
Actually, ignore my last post. I Googled it and found the file quite easily. I flashed it with Flashtool and everything is working perfectly. Thank you so much for your help BuckM. You saved my phone
Here you go. I wouldn't bother relocking though. Just flash the ftf file that you want.
You will find them here.
Beaten too it by OP
d31b0ys right, you don't really NEED to relock your bootloader, its just an option to get SEUS working again. That being said keep in mind you can reunlock your bootloader again at any time using the same unlock code as before, just try to be a little more careful
did you try to pull out the battery then put it back, then hold the search buttion (wile the phone is still off) then put in the usb cable? if done correct your power buttion will turn blue. then download a stock .tft for your phone and flash with flashtool. this unbricked my phone

[Q] HELP: will not upgrade to ICS? Even with CWM

Hi
I bought this ARC S in China (second hand filled with lots of crap apps), and it comes with a Android 2.3.4 Build: 4.0.2.A.0.62
So I tried to upgrade it with SE Upgrade tool / Pc. Companion, but they both failed and bricked the phone. So I thought it was unlocked. Getting back to the old system by using that OTAir unbrick tool.
Then, after allot of the mandatory swearing, I actually finally did unlock the bootloader and install SU.
After that I used fastboot to load CWR, and tried to install a couple of ROMs. But for every ROM I have tried to flash, the phone just dies after the "Sony Ericsson" boot with a black screen.
Any ideas on how to go forward? I am killing myself over having an android phone without the possibility to sync against Google services; mail, calendar or contacts.
Tried the forums for two days now, so I thought it was time to write a question Is there any rom that will work to flash with the Flashtool? Is there any way to get into a stock or MIUI ICS rom from where I am?
Cheers and thanks for any help!
Observe still back on: Android 2.3.4 Build: 4.0.2.A.0.62

Problem with Recovery Mode (CWM) after rooting (Xperia Arc S)

Hi everyone,
Before criticizing me for posting this thread please note that I've spent a lot of time googling and trying to find a solution.
Before I begin I want to mention that I'm pretty new to android system. I learned few basics today but must admit I'm a noob. I've had my Xperia Arc S for a while now, but decided to root it (got annoyed with all restrictions + bloadware). But to the point.
After few hours I successfully unlocked bootloader and rooted my device. It's been 7 hours now and I'm really stuck. Finally I decided to get help from you guys - I'm just fed up with it.
Here's my problem:
At the first place I had Android 2.3.4 [4.0.2.a.0.62]. Found out that this version is hard to unlock and root, so I downgraded it to 4.0.2.a.0.42 (which apparently was easier to achieve what I wanted).
Then I followed the guide how to unlock bootloader - succeeded.
Later I used OneClickRoot to root my device - also succeeded.
Now the problem begins - I've read this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592104
Tried to install CWM using Rom Manager - failed as I got the message that my LT18i is not supported. Instead I installed X-Parts and using it I installed CWM. Seems it all went fine but I can't access Recovery Mode - and seriously I tried everything: volume up, volume down, hold, pressing few times, tried even with back and menu button. I also tried "Reboot to recovery" option in X-Parts - still no result.
I downloaded SE Extreme Tweak and installed CWM using this program but still nothing.
As far as I know to install new ROM I need an access to Recovery Menu. I want to install Stock ROM 2.3.4 [4.0.2.a.0.62] (the one I had before) and remove unnecessary bloatware.
Any suggestions guys? How to fix that Recovery Mode problem?
My device details:
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
LT18i
Android version: 2.3.4
Buld number: 4.0.2.A.0.42
Thanks for any help!

Have you tried flashing a custom kernel? As far as I know, they come with recovery pre-installed. I'd suggest you give the following a go. Should definitely work for you.

Thanks for reply. Well the thing is - maybe it's a bit silly reason - that I love the favourites widget in 2.3.4. As far as I know this widget is not available in any other versions - even custom ROM's....
edit: Sorry just noticed that it's actually "fixed" version of stock Kernel. Thanks, will try to give it a go then
Are these similar to what you're looking for?

I'm sure Google Play has a lot of what you want.
The first one is. I used it before - need to use Go Launcher with it though, which I didn't really like :/
The one I'm talking about is called "favorites and call log widget" (sorry apparently as a new user I can't post outside links to show you what I'm exactly after)
@ MarcSinger
thanks again for trying to help, I've read the post, however it still requires to boot the phone in recovery mode, which I'm not able to do
Any other suggestions guys?
Guys I sorted it out!!
I unrooted the phone (don't know if this helped), rooted again, then found this app "5.0.2.7-nAa-r2 Auto-Installer", installed it on my device and installed CWM from there. Now I can access Recovery Mode. Finally I can carry on with flashing ROM. Will try to install what MarcSinger posted.

If your bootloader is unlocked then simply flash a kernel with CWM, no need to install it via the apps.

Glad I could help, good luck!
u solved it yourslef, lol.
this app is cwm-auto-installer. i always use it after rooted to install cwm though i flashed the custom kernel had cwm pre-installed.
2 cwm is just better for me, i dont know why but i use lupusv14 kernel, in kernel's cwm, it doesnt do the action "advance restore" like restore system only, so i return to manual cwm to do this

sr, i just seen this notif. maybe cwm was not installed actually, though these apps (xpart, rommanager, recovery...) said is was completed. i think these apps cannot install by ifself (if i remember exactly, cuz a long time ago n i dont use arc anymore). so u must use cwm-auto-installer app, install this app, open it then tap 3rd line to install cwm inside this app. i always do that after root (though i use kernel have cwm preinstalled).
after that, when u power on ur phone, ull see green led light which means u have cwm already n able to access cwm by pressing volume (-) when that led light appear, through that moment u cant access anymore n must reboot to try again. or easier u can use [ndr utils] app, have all reboot option.

If you have an unlocked bootloader just flash a kernel with CWM on it, why go through all the trouble to use CWM auto installer if it doesn't work for you?
You could also try connecting your phone with your computer, make sure you have adb drivers installed and adb turned on in developers settings on your phone , then just type in this command within a terminal: adb reboot recovery .
Please Note that this solution does not mean you haven't got recovery installed on your phone, so this one might fail.!
Have you guys tried holding power + camera? I once had a recovery installed which used the camera button to enter recovery
Also do not press the power button for to long or your phone might just restart and doesn't have the time to boot in recovery, so start up holding volume down or up and press power, realease the power after like 7 seconds , (can't remember how long it really was so experiment.... )

[Q] stuck at sony screen

now before you tell me off, I have looked around on the forum and nothing has helped me.
xperia arc s originally running android 4.04
right,
I am fairly new to android rooting etc, and I recently rooted my phone, installed X-Parts then I followed all the instructions and formatted my phone, and then installed cm 10.1 and got error 7, I think it was. so I decided to restore the nandroid backup that X-Parts had done and it completed successfully, so then I clicked restart but it gets stuck at the "Sony" logo but it will still go into fastboot, but windows 8 says it doesn't recognise it, or it wont install or something like that.
thanks for your help
getting a bit worried as this is my phone and it was quite expensive
again thanks

how do I install the adb drivers
download flashtool then find the stock ics in .tft format then flash it to your cellphone in flashboot..Thats what i did when my arc s got bricked
Just out of interest, if I do that will it remove carrier branding
right, new problem. i have fixed all of the above and now i have downloaded cm 10.1 for arc s. i have copied .zip files for rom and for gapps, and have flashed the kernel succesfully, and now i want to boot into recovery (which i have installed on my arc s) and when i turn the phone on in order to boot into recovery, wipe the phone and cache, and flash the rom the phone vibrates and the LEDs change colour, finally finishing on yellow and then it does nothing. why?

[Q] [Help] Phone stuck at Sony Logo - What now?

Okay, I've done the thing I shouldn't have done.
I was trying to install a custom rom using CWM, but failed, and it got stuck at the sony logo.
Went through the wiping procedures and factory reset, now not sure where this will head to - is it gone for sure?
(Apparently my back up failed too, as I can't find my backup file)
Now trying to repair using PCC. Any advice? Step-by-step procedures will be appreciated.

Managed to repair the phone via PCC, but my earlier root was gone.
Had to pull out the battery in order to force the phone into a power off mode, so that it can be updated by the PCC.
Thankfully the phone wasn't bricked!~

This was what I did..
Went into the support zone -> choose the update phone software -> Click Start.

better for you to download the ftf file
in case you dont have internet connection and something happen to your phone you can flash it offline
