Hi everybody,
I am the developer of Appsi Sidebar. And I am looking for a stylish icon for my app. Of course I've tried to make one myself, but I want something better. Besides that I'd also like to update the other graphics I have on the play store. So to wrap up, that would mean the following images:
Logo (512x512)
Feature graphic (1024x500)
Promo image (180x120)
For me it is really important to conform to the android guidelines. Besides that, anything goes. More details about the images requirements and what it is used for is described here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/1078870?hl=en
If you'd like I'll add a reference to your website in the about screen.

Hi all, i don't know if it has been asked already but it would be great to have a light black&white forum "Development and Hacking" easy to load and browse from our PPCs/SPs exactly like the iPhone's app called Installer... ok, without all the "sources/install/uninstall" thing, only app name (with very short description like the one we can see if we mouseover a topic's name) and, clicking on it, the author description, link to the Dev&Hack forum article, link to the download, little screenshot or animated gif. And a tiny search engine (no Google)
I know there are websites made like that already like freewareppc or softonic which use RSS, but i was thinking about a more Installer-like webApp.
http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=j7rfU4r3Y-0
.. but there's probably something like that already, so i ask you guys and gals where can i find such a service and if you think it would be nice or totally useless
TBH this would take ages to compile and program and with every different model of HTC h/set out there I dont think anyone would have the resources or time to do this. I do really like the idea though kudos for that
Why not look at the App To Date over at MoDaCo?
livefastdiefun87, i don't think it should be that difficult to filter the threads (for example a "[release]" string in the thread title) as links to their first posts (the ones with descriptions, screenshots and downloads) to the user (maybe it's enough for the releaser to keep an eye on the format). For example A_C's releases already have the "required" things (first post: description and download, second post: faqs).
With a little help from any developer i think that even with pocket ie (although a client would be better) we can retrieve every release easier. Then, in order to explore the apps, the user can jump to the ordinary forum.
Maybe i'm making it too simple, but it wont be bad anyway. I'm thinking about a mobile-only road, no ads, no banners, black and white with hypertext
Today I've released a public preview (alpha) of FBRocket which is a lightweight Facebook SDK written from scratch specifically for the Android platform.
FBRocket makes it really easy to integrate Facebook functionality into your existing projects. You can make simple method calls like:
facebook.setStatus("is using FBRocket!");
to change your user's status, so you can imagine the hundreds/thousands of uses for this library!
There are also features to retrieve friend status, etc. -- all in all, even though it's only at version 0.1, it's already quite powerful, really lightweight and designed specifically minimise verbosity and be accessible to beginners, yet powerful enough for advanced developers.
Check it out at http://xeomax.net/fbrocket and I'd love to get your feedback, preferably through the website, but I'll also be making frequent checks to this thread.
Thanks!
I like it
Good work!
Hope you will keep it free for all to use.
I have a request, and that is the ability to share images.
Currently, I can just share status updates and notes (without images).
Any plans to implement this?
Wow, great project! Keep working on it!
Nice work!
If only there was someone to make a decent facebook application, like iphone's one.
The official application is nice, but lacks a lot of things(chat, poke, auto updates, etc),and basically it links you to the browser for most of things to do..
Wish some of you devs makes an effort

Hey Jon!
I tried your code ... it takes me to the login page, when i log in, i go to my applications page on facebook which says "this application is under construction." The code in onLoginSuccess() method doesnt execute. No status updates, no dialogs. Do i have to publish my application first? I have raised this issue on your site's feedback but you didnt respond. Please help me out.

Hi there,
I found today a website which contains all applications for WP7. You can use specific filters like language, price and category. You can also get statistics about WP7 apps. I think it's better than wp7applist because very simple and intuitive. It's easier to find applications.
http://www.windowsphoneapplist.com
Very nice, I like!
Thanks for sharing!
Great place !

It looks like clone of this site http://www.monsmartphone.net/marketplace/
I don't like them both because out of date information in WP7 programs descriptions, screen shots.
There is also no information about the date of the application update.
Both http://wp7applist.com/ and http://www.marketplacebrowser.com contains more adequate information about programs, but not good for browsing.
They very good when you want to read info about the particular program.
http://www.appsfuze.com/ also has filters by category, free or paid app.
Good for browsing, but I'm not sure in their statistics info.
Also out of date info related to the applications screen shots.
Wrong text formatting in app description.
Of course, all above IMHO
Please keep discussion threads out of the app release section
I will move this to WP7 General.

Yet another site for WP7 apps
I've found another site for WP7 applications:
http://wpappshub.com
IMHO it is not so good for apps browsing, but contains actual information about published or updated programs.

Hello s_v_l,
I'm in charge of development of monsmartphone.net & windowsphoneapplist. I've attached importance to your post and the main bugs are corrected. All apps are now updated directly. The update job will take about 24 hours, so tomorrow you will see the good prices & informations. If you have any suggestion, pm me

Hi MrDesch,
You're the only one of the owners of WP7 sites who responded to my criticism.
Thanks.
I present my point of view, as a developer.
We both have a common goal - give the user the ability to make the right choice by the shortest way.
Currently there are near the 7600 applications on the WP7 marketplace.
Very good, but most of them weak and a great risk WP7 marketplace transformation to the garbage place.
I am disappointed with Microsoft in this regard.
I will not even talk about the lack of moderation of false feedback, about black PR, etc., etc.
Sorry for off topic.
More details about your sites tomorrow in PM.
Thanks again.

Looks good, in WP7 style
Some problem with the text overlapping at the upper right corner.
The main problems:
1. The out of date information in the app description and screen shots.
2. Wrong info about pricing!
Actual info about my app:

Your info

Also I can suggest add filter for paid applications too for better browsing.
For example I'm interesting on paid applications only and want to browse them in different category.
(BTW if you check both Free & Trial you will discard ~50% applications)
Thanks for your feedback s_v_l !
What kind of problem did you have with the text overlapping ? It works for me with ie, chrome and firefox.
I found the bug (the last I hope ) It's now corrected. Sry Sry !
Good suggestion for paid apps.

1. Text on the background image overlaps the top banner and right menu block.
See attached screen shots for home window and product window.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.13
2. IMHO download button should be detached from the ads block,
because end user may be confused by the info on that ads.
(this is against google rules related to the ads placement)
Also would be better to make accent on download button by color (light green).
See my other screen shots for product download section and my suggestion with detached button.
3. Price info fixed, but info in the program description and program screen shots still out of date.

1. Ok thanks
2. I don't think it's a problem for Google. The ad is just highlighted but for me there is no confusion. Good idea for the button.
3. Have you updated the numbers of the version ?

Much better than initial view.
App description has been updated properly.
Good idea with "video" section and clickable links in description.
Some problems still exist:
1. Incorrect screen shots update, see attached images.
a)your screen shots set;
b)original screen shots and their order, as they published on WP7 hub (7 items)
2. And text overlapping looks not good (third image in attachment)
Some words about app submitting logic on the WP7 hub.
When developer submit new application or update app to the new version all published data could be changed.
After publication on the WP7 marketplace developer has the ability to correct price information only for current publication. All other data remain the same.
Thanks
All images are in your cache browser. You have to clear it to see the actual screenshots. The text overlapping is alse corrected. It's not perfect but it looks better on high resolution
Yes, I know about that. Thanks s_v_l
Ive been working on the next update for the 1800PocketPC.com app.
I need people to test it out & report back what works & what doesn't.
Hopefully it should work most of the time, but some articles might not look right.
If you find a bug or an article that wont work, just let me know below.
The xap is attached below
Edit:
If anyone has any advice on how to easily parse html into different types of content (images, text, links etc) then please let me know.
The current solution is something I've thrown together with very little html experience & isn't too reliable.
Download and installed, will leave feedback later.
Tank's for sharing this!!!
I love the metro feel... here the bug i found -->
OK, I sideloaded it and love the feel and what you did with the augmented appbar/ settings corner. Great use of the screen real estate. Fast pageloads (i'm assuming you did it in the bg thread) its smooth and sleek. You stuck to the Metro design and the app looks beautiful on the phone.
I have one bug to report= When trying to open an article from the news page, I get an exception thrown that says..
"Specified argument was out of the range of valid values" and crashes the app. It only happens when i try to load an article, not when i go into an app review.
Thanks.
Actually, I dont parse the article in a background thread, I should probably try that
The parsing itself is something which Ive thrown together without really having any previous experience working with html, so Im glad its working so far
Im planning on re-doing it slightly to make it more reliable as at the moment, it just narrows the html down from the whole page to just the article, then down into each div, then it goes through each one in turn trying to figure out if its a link, text or an image. I need to make it work slightly better though as its not very reliable.
For the work I've done I've used this
http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com/
might be worth a look see
Hey guys, i hope i'm posting in the right category.
I couldn't find an answer anywhere and question on the google play documentation is not specific enough for me to be sure about this. I was asking myself if android applications graphics, I.E, the way the items in the layout are placed, the combinations of colors used. etc are subject to copyright. I am building an application that resembles an already existing application. It's not a 100% same copy but some items are layed out in the same way i want to be sure that my application won't get thrown off google play once i publish. It's probably worth saying that i am not, in one single image using a copied image. I am just talking about layout settings and colors.
Thanks in advance for your time!
Are you coming from iOS development? AFAIK Google Play is not that strict (like App Store) with X-raying the apps before/after publishing.
