Hi all,
I have a HTC media link and I am trying to use 'MX player' with it. MX player works fine I can watch the video on my phone, but as soon as I put it onto the media link the TV only gives out the sound, no image and the phone shows the image of a TV and a phone. In theory everything works fine, I can get photos , internet everything on the TV. Except videos, I have tried 3 different apps including the stock video player app.
Any idea how I can solve my issue and make my video appear on the TV? It is a mp4 file, this shouldnt make a difference as mp4 is a supported format.
Thanks,
Vizzy
I am using the media link with my HTC One, not the nexus 10 before somebody says something,

Hi all,
I'm using last Cyanogen ROM on my DHD. I'm really happy with it but it's missing a working DLNA application. I have tried several apps on the market but none seems to work like the HTC one did. Would it be possible to extract HTC Connected Media/DLNA app from HTC ROM and install it on cyanogen? Would it work and how to install it in case someone could extract it?
The only app that seems to work is Twonky Server, a free app downloaded from the market. The only problem with it is that is unable to reproduce .mp4 recorded files with Cyanogen ROM, while it's ok with the .3gp ones recorded with HTC stcok ROM. Could it depend to a kind of incompatibility of Twonky Server or of my Samsung TV, where I use to see my media files?
Best Regards...
I stream videos and music to my DHD using the apps UPnPlay and VPlayer.
The Upnplay app can find your media server and stream, while the Vplayer app is able to play most video files including divx.

Thanx for your reply. But that's not what I was looking for. I found many apps that can share my DHD media contents with my Samsung DLNA TV. But there seems to be problems with .mp4 videos recorded with Cyanogen ROM. Stock ROM allows you to record .3gp files that are smoothly played on my tv via DLNA. But with .mp4 video I only get on my tv the message " unknown file format". So if there's someone who experienced the same situation and can halp me to understand the reasons of this problem, and maybe how to solve it, will be welcome...
I see loads of people talking about watching HD movies on their One X's. Just wondering how you get them. Is it a case of downloading them on your pc then transferring to the phone, or are they gotten from htc watch or something?
And if its the former, what formats are supported by the phone?
Well i don't think hatches started selling true hd content yet...but its easier to get them on your pc and transfer them to ur device. And download a app called mx player and it will pretty much play any codec and format with ease...

I copied one .avi format movie from my pc to the phone, it was a BDRIP.
Did not have any problems running it on default player, and the quality was awesome as well...

What size file out of interest. It seems we cannot copy files over 4GB because of FAT32
Just split the videos if they are bigger than 4GB, if you output the split files directly to the mass storage of your One X, you even wont lose time doing it.
Anyone got streaming over wifi working? Can stream ok between xbmc machines so my network is clearly up to it. The one x claps out after a couple of seconds tho when streaming 720p. Using Es file explorer to navigate to smb shares, could this be the problem? Any alternatives?

My Galaxy S2 has allshare installed so I can stream my 100's of videos from the PC to the phone. I assumed this was standard now but not on the One X.
I can connect to the PC and see the videos etc but about 3% of them actually play or are supported format, on the S2 everything just worked.
Is there any way to get these files supported on the One X without conversions?
Select the gallery and then the album that contains your movies and then use the menu and pick select player. From there you should be able to see dlna players on your network

Yes I can see the movies but the One X supports what seems to be around 3 video file types, so no DivX or XviD can be played on the phone at all. Is there any apps I can use to stream more codecs to the phone?
I'm using Emit app for movie streaming from my pc to one x, playing almost all kinds of format also including divx rmvb mkv etc. etc.

MX player
Hey guys,
I recently bought my HOX and I love it !!
I have one little question. I Own a iconiaTab A510 which is on tegra3 and ICS as well. When i try to play avi file (3-10Mo) from dropbox app on my tab they just play fine. But on my HOX it just doesn't work. I tried mxplayer, vlc, vplayer but none of them worked ! Do you have any idea why ??
dropbox app v 2.1.10 on both
I don't think it's related to the Dropbox app, since once the file is downloaded, it's job is done and another app is called to handle the file. What software are you using? MX Player works flawlessly here, both with SD and HD videos.
Hi,
With latest dropbox app, you don't need to download files anymore, you can play them in streaming. If I download my video, you're right, mxplayer works fine. Unless the streaming feature only works on tablet...

I will try to upload a video and stream it, though my Dropbox always uploads unbelievably slow, so it might take a while...
EDIT: I have tried several mp4, 3gp and avi files, and all streamed well (a bit slowly, but I could get the to play after a bit of buffering) except for the avi ones. I'm pretty sure it's because of the dropbox app, because if you click Export -> Save to SD Card and play it from there it works just fine. I also have a 720p mkv file uploading now, but I couldn't find a smaller one around, so it might take a while, and I expect the result is just as it is with the avi file. I'll update if I find anything more.
EDIT 2: Just as I thought, the mkv file refuses to stream, but will play just fine if downloaded first. So it looks like you'll have to store your videos locally while you watch them, or find some other way of streaming them
Ok, you're right...if you do export>mxplayer it works after a bit of buffering...but if you just click on your video and select mxplayer, it doesn't play...which is weird because my A510 does play the video this way without buffering...anyway thanks for your help

Hi everyone,
Well, i'm very happy of my surface RT, but i have one big problem : read my favourites series on my surface.
At the moment, i use "press play video" and my movies freeze all the time...
I tried to read the same movie from the sd card or from the internal storage, and the result is the same : freeze.
The result is the same with all my mkv.
does anyone have a solution?
thank's
I haven't heard of any MKV player that work with any reliability. VLC player is in the pipeline but looking like vaporware at the moment.
I would suggest conversion or streaming them via Plex or similar that can transcode.

Thank's a lot!
I tried and it works fine, and now i buy it !!!
Now my Surface RT ROXX :good::laugh:
Is that still working for you OK? I tried the stock Xbox video app and mobile.HD media player and both have poor audio/video sync. The video trails behind the audio by a few tenths of a second, despite the same files playing back fine on Windows 7 WMP, my Nexus 7 2nd gen, and my Roku.
Videos synced and played back through Plex are fine, and Netflix is fine, too, but I can't seem to find a basic video player app that works correctly.

Hmmm, no luck for me. I get the same audio/video sync problems.
What do you use to encode your videos? I use a slightly modified version of the High Profile preset in Handbrake. All the relevant video stuff is unchanged from the preset, which the exception being that I limit the resolution width to 1280. I'm going to try encoding something using the baseline profile just to see what happens.
Since there is still no VLC, i'm using power media player (power dvd).
Streaming 1080p from My NAS Works fine, besides some stuttering at the first few seconds .

Thanks!
The key seems to be the encoding settings. I tried re-encoding one movie using the H.264 baseline profile. The resulting file was about 50% bigger, but plays without any issue. I'd hate to have to use such non-optimized settings, though.
Are you playing back full blu-ray rips (e.g., rips using MakeMKV)? Or, if they're re-encoded, do you know what the encoding settings were? Otherwise I guess I'll just have to play around with some different encoding schemes, adding more H.264 high-profile features until the A/V sync breaks.
Update: Anything about baseline profile gives me audio/video sync problems. That's really disappointing, given that the Tegra3 should have no problem with high-profile content.
