I want adhoc to work because I have a toughbook in my company truck that's connected on a perm data line and I want to use adhoc like I do with my iphone. Which ROM supports adhoc ? I would be nice if it also had JB4.2

I'm not sure which ROM has it but did find something that might help you: http://shaer.me/blog/2012/08/how-to-enable-ad-hoc-connection-on-your-android/
I tried enabling adhoc through various methods as you mentioned above but was unsuccessful.

Is it just me or doesn't the wifi tethering work with [ROM] [Gingerbread] CyanogenMod 7 RC1 modified! ?
If so, what to do?
Thanks!

assuming it's the same as standard cm7, you go into wireless settings and enable it
Yes, I know where it is, but it won't work :-/ People can find and connect to the network, but gets "no Internet access".
I am now using Wifi Tether for root users from market, but I like the built in bether

It's working here fine, but then I'm using Rc1 not the modified one, so seems like the winzip dev has broken something with his modding.
Posted from my Ubuntu box, tethered with CM7 running DHD

Mine doesn't work either, I've try all of the above, different CM versions as new installs v3.3.9 all the way to v3.6.0, different CM versions as up-dates and get nothing…. I can connect to the network but get no internet.
But it works fine with the new CM7 Tweaked CLK version.
And it also works if I use it as a MAGLDR version.
Mind you, this is on an HD2!!!
CM WIFI doesn't work!

Hello,
I am stuck in a student room where the internet come by cable and with a fully working connection on my computer (Ubuntu)
As I have no data plan , I was wondering if some custom 4.2 ROM would support had-hoc.
Can you please ping here if you are aware of such ROM? Thanks

Infrastructure is not supported by my computer, according to this post: http://askubuntu.com/questions/106745/how-to-find-out-if-my-card-supports-infrastructure-mode
SO I cannot create infrastructure network.
I can create ad hoc network, but so, Android won't recognise it.
I have also tried bluetooth connection sharing, but seems impossible, so I will maybe go back to previous release of CM that support ad hoc.
I did a search here and didn't seem to find any threads on it. My phone can only broadcast an ad-hoc network for tethering, and while I'm able to use bluetooth to tether for browsing, most google apps don't work with it. Does anyone know how to get the Nexus 7 to find and connect to ad-hoc networks?
You probably need to replace wpa_supplicant with one that has been compiled to recognize ad-hoc.

Does anyone know if this would work? I've attempted to do some research on the topic but I'm not knowledgable enough to know what exactly the code in this patch does, and for that reason am not too interested in putting code from unknown sources on my own device.

Theoretically it should work, but that is a source code patch, so you need a source tree to recompile wpa_supplicant. Given what you described, you probably want someone to compile and provide you just the binary.
Hello,
I'm trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 wifi to an ad-hoc network for internet. I understand this is disabled by default and a file needs to be replaced for it to work.
I searched around but could not find an up to date file for 4.2.2 version of android which runs the tab. If anyone has the file or another method please share it.
My device is already rooted on stock ROM.
Thanks
the same question.

the same question I want to ask .
Is there a way to get USB tether in CM11 (or any ROM really) to work with OS X??
I tried searching http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991113
found that ^ but if there's a way to do it natively or that doesn't involve 3rd party software / changing my mac that would be preferable.
if not I can find other solutions
thanks!
edit: wow i'm dumb .. after actually reading and comprehending the link it seems like that is exactly what i'm looking for ... can a mod delete this
