[Q] problem rebooting to recovery - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hello. I'm sorry to hit the ground asking a question but . . . ..
incredible 2. used clockwork recovery. rooted the phone. superuser installed. I have ROM Manager installed, and now rom toolbox lite. I downloaded cm-7.2.0-vivow and it is in the root of the sd card.
Now when I try either rom manager OR toolbox lite, i tell it to reboot to recovery and there it sits. forever.
has anyone else had this happen, and does anyone know of a fix?
battery is fully charged and otherwise phone works as per usual.
Many thanks to anyone who might be able to shed some light.
Mike . .

Are u on the stock ROM? A lot of times sense hangs and won't reboot the phone. I've encountered it on mine n my girls vivid. Just manually reboot. Also for the love of the phone install 4ext recovery. Easy simple n works super functional on our older phones. 4ext.net.

[Q] I cannot seem to restore my nandroid back up

I have a Telus DHD and I just temprooted the phone and installed clockworkmod 3.0.0.5. I did a nandroid backup and when I go to restore the it after trying out several roms, it won't boot past the HTC screen. I tried starting over and installing the stock Telus rom and nandroid backup again and restore and still the same thing. Does anyone have this problem?
I'm not 100% sure but I think the problem is the CWM version. Did you make the backup with CWM 3.0.0.5?
You need permanent root and s off (I recommend eng s off).
Follow the guides in the development section.
Also try a non 3 series clockworkmod recovery if you're using a 2.2 rom.

how would i change the rom manager if i cannt boot the phone passed the htc screen please help
Ok. Don't worry, this can be repaired.
First you need to see if you can reboot into recovery.
Take the battery out and restart the phone by holding volume down and power. This will take you to the bootloader. Then using the volume buttons scroll down to recovery and select using the power button.
Next you should get a screen with the red triangle on it. When you see this, hold volume up and press power. Then select wipe data factory resest. This will wipe all your data but ce la vie dude.
If this doesn't work you need to flash a pd98img.zip file from the bootloader. Get back to me and I'll help if needed. Good luck.

Don't restore. It won't work without soff and perm root. Factory reset the reboot. Does your phone reboot without trying to restore?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
in hboot it says eng s-off
Can you reboot without restore? Do you have sdk on your pc?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i dont have sdk and when i reboot it stays on the htc white screen and goes no further i have to remove battery and hold down and power to get to hboot and recovery from there takes me to cwm 3.0.0.5
Ok. So we need to flash on older clockwork. Email me and I'll reply with the files you need then I'll talk you through flashing the recovery from fastboot. You have the wrong version of clockwork. The one you have is for 2.3 based roms.

HTC DEsire Hd Boot Problem

Hi

the rom Was cooked by Spike One of the best cooker in iran .
I Got a backup and after that i wiped my phone with full wiper tools after that i tried to install the rom but i could not because the phone said inistalation aborted
so i reboot the phone from my recovery (3.0.0.5 clockwork) But when i reboot it The Htc page and logo came to my monitor and it never went until i get the battery out of it
help me plz . help me plz
You wiped youf phone. Boot, system and data partitions are empty now so it's sure that it won't boot after wiping all of these partitions.
But no need to worry: probably you had a bad download. Just redownload the rom and flash it again.
Sent out of my Free Candy Van.
Excuse me
but Could You tell me how to flash it ?
Seriously, how do you install the rom as you stated above? (oh, maybe you use Rom Manager, nvm)
Boot into recovery (vol down+power when boot up, select recovery), install zip from sd card, point the rom you've placed in the sd card.

Thank you very much for your help.
Its nice to know that your problems were solved. The box you've mentioned above is called RIFF Box I think.

[Q] Wierd problem with Express 2.0

Ok let me see if I can explain this in my noobish way. Downloaded and finally got installed the new Express Rom 2.0...Checked it out....worked absolutely great....set it up with my apps and ran it through the paces for a couple of hours....rebooted phone and it would not reload....strated from scratch and this time saved the programming...rebooted and the exact same thing happened....checked the tread and saw no one else with this particular problem....can one of the more learned tell me what i'm doing wrong. used alternative recovery from rom manager to install (green background) instead of my usual (blue) clockwork mod recovery....This is the first rom I've installed using this method
Is your SD card partitioned and did you use the wipe all zip file before you flashed the rom?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Yep and yep....problem was that I needed to use Amon-Ra to install.....thanks for responding

[Q] Rom Manager doesn't do.. anything?

Initially CWM was installed fine via Rom Manager but now I can't do *anything* in rom manager. None of the options work, not even the override setting (I have CWM installed already) This wouldn't be a huge issue but I wanted to download some roms away from the computer and experiment a bit.. I was wondering why this would be occouring as it doesnt seem like normal behavior.
I click flash CWM and it gives me the little loading symbol for a few seconds..
I do the same for Override.. same thing happens
None of the other features will work because it doesn't detect CWM

I would suggest reflashing CMW through Rom Manager. Make sure you select the right version for your device GSM or CDMA as this will cause huge issues!!!
I can't flash it.. it just gives me the loading circle for a second and does absolutely nothing at all. CWM works fine outside of rom manager.. rom manager isn't working correctly. I am a little worried that this a symptom of a larger problem though.
do u have root permissions?
do u give rom manager root permission when supersuser ask u?
did u treid uninstall and install again rom manager?
Don't want to sound like an ass, but you did both unlock and root your phone, right? When you enter ROM Manager, does it ask you for superuser permission?
absolutely, I even double checked =) I am not entirely fresh to rooting phones. I have rooted, unlocked (and even flashed custom roms) I have gone back to stock.. and done the whole process again (JUST to make sure) it doesn't matter what I've done so far though.. the problem still persists.
Rom manager doesn't even ask for superuser permissions, unless rebooting into recovery (surprisingly it does this fine)

Wow, I thought it was just me. Rom Manager just did this to me last night also. I've been rooted and flashing rooms on my gnex since Feb and had no problems. This just happened to me last night out of nowhere. Wasn't even flashing anything. It doesn't even shows that I don't have recovery flashed anymore.
Weird.

Alright, I figured out my problem. Don't know if it will help you.
I forgot I downloaded the CWM touch .img but decided I wasn't going to do it. I forgot to delete the .img file from the root of my SD. I deleted it and and than rom Manager went back to normal and let me reflash recovery.
Hope this helps.

Cheers but! The root of my SD is empty >.>
Edit: so I went back into root and deleted some folders... and voila! Its all working again! Cheers for the tip mate!

[Q] Differences between clockworkmod recovery amd CWM-Based recovery?

Hi all, ive had my Tmobile samsung galaxy s2 for awhile now, and i finally decided to root it (and did it successfully) a few days ago (yay)
Ive done a bit of research for what I can do while rooted, basically after CPU setting, save battery life when idle... Simple things
But ive been meaning to try flashing a ROM. But I want to make sure i know absolutely everything needed to know to flash one. I had a samsung tmobile sidekick that I was able to root and flash Gingerclone on, but I remember it had alot of little details while installing that simply missing one could seriously screw up your phone
So first off, if anyone has had the sidekick: Is flashing/ installing roms as complex on the sgh-t989 as it is on sidekick 4g?
And secondly... After rooting my galaxy, i no longer have the stock android recovery (obviously)...... Instead it is replaced with CWM-based recovery (i think 5.0.2.2?). Is there a difference between this and Clockworkmod recovert (which should show an orange screen)?
I wanted to use ROM manager but opted not to when it told me that I "needed clockworkmod recovery installed" to work.
A little help, please?
Thanks!

Okay, great! Glad it was so simple lol.
Now about my other question... Let me explain. When I would install a custom ROM on my sidekick, i remember having to do all sorts of things like unmount system/ unmount SD card before installing and remount them after (i dont remember the exact methods... Dont quote me on that).
I know the general procedure of basically Wiping data, Wiping cache, Wiping delvik cache... But does the galaxy s2 require checking of all of that unmounting/mounting?

Flashed many roms, and no need for all that. Just make sure you wait the 10 minutes after flashing a rom.
FlaShing roms on this phone is so simple "that even a caveman can do it". I would also advise to ditch clockwork recovery and install twrp, also never use rom manager to flash roms. Just follow the op's instructions on what steps to follow to flash the rom successfully. Also no need to mount and unmount anything. Good luck.
Awesome! Thank you all for your replies, glad to here that flashing is much simpler on this phone
I really wouldnt recommend anyone rooting a sidekick as a beginner. It was my phone, i soft bricked ot my first time. Ugh, it was such a hassle! And it left me a little traumatized to try anything on this. lol!
Thanks for all the help!
Here are the genreric steps to follow to flash a rom (and yes, TWRP is recommended instead of CWM):
- place the rom zip on the internal storage
- place a copy of the radio zip that you have on the internat storage (for safety reasons)
- copy Google Apps zip if it is not included in the rom (most roms do not have these included, but the dev might provide a tuned version)
- reboot phone and enter the recovery menu (hold vol up + vol down pressed while booting)
# In recovery mode
- wipe data
- wipe system
-(Use Darkside Super wipe if still on cwm 5.0.2.7 or below)
- flash rom
- flash gapps (if missing from the rom)
- wipe cache/ dalvik cache.
- reboot and wait 10 mins
- reboot and wait 1 minute
- enjoy
If you are planning on flashing a Rom on your phone of course twrp recommended and you should definitely try Jedi mind trick x2 for the t989 Hercules. It is the most stable Rom on the Samsung galaxy s2 T989 T-Mobile. The instructions above are the best instructions you should follow. And read it carefully or you will brick your device. If using twrp follow the twrp method. And if using cwm make sure you use the extra cwm steps. It is super important you follow them unless you want a fancy paper weight.

I just flashed my phone last night to the Liquid smooth rc 9. This was my first root and flash. I used titanium backup for the apps, used ROM manager to flash to the latest cwm. Here is a link I used
